Default Why does Mario Kart 7 hate my internet so much?

Alright, so here's a story.
Mario Kart Wii... Plays just fine. I even skype while playing!
PSP? Works just dandy.
360? PS3? No problem. All was good in my Wireless world. There were flowers and candies everywhere.

Then I bought a 3DS with Mario Kart 7 and oh my god did all hell break loose.

Every time I race I keep getting disconnected. Every single time. I tried all the tricks. I tried the 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 DNS trick, I tried the DMZ. I even tried a random trick with a capped letter in the WEP password and of course that didn't work. And worst of all, my computer's internet will disconnect if I ever DARE launch a race. It's as if this little thing is sucking all the interwebs power into itself like a greedy little gremlin.

I don't get it. Not even Netflix does that! Anyone had the same problem?

When I was at my sister's house a while back it did something similar to me. I could get on the eShop and the internet browser, but it would act up for Mario Kart 7. It would work for maybe one race and then say a communication error has occurred. My sister said her internet was slow that day.
The only thing I can think of is maybe your internet has split-second interruptions that doesn't bother any other system except your 3DS. Try playing it somewhere else that has Wi-Fi. Somewhere you know works perfectly. If it doesn't work there it could be your system or game, but I'm guessing it's your internet.

Do 3DS's not need WPA connections instead of WEP? I am pretty sure they do.

I think you can change that in your Router hub options, I had to do that with my old router.

I would think that if it was a WPA vs WEP then the 3DS would not connect at all to the internet.

And my internet is pretty bad at home, but I had figured that since all my other systems were working just dandy there was something strange about it... How can that thing be so finnicky?

The DS Lite only works with WEP and I know that Animal Crossing DS on the 3DS does not work because of that from personal experience. Plus, WPA is far more secure so if your router has that option I suggest changing it to WPA.

I may be wrong, but it worked with mine.

I'll give it a go tonight but it doesn't sound very logical. I mean I can load the game fine, I can find players, it just disconnects everything internet during the race. If it was a security issue it just would not connect at all and probably wouldn't disconnect my computer. I have to admit it sounds as if... somehow... the 3DS is extremely demanding when it comes to bandwidth.

There wouldn't be a fix for that huh?

Unplug your router or modem for 30 seconds, plug it back in, wait 30 seconds.
