I'm really, really, really shocked by the price of the 3DS. It is above than what we all expected. It costs US$300!!

OMG WHO WOULD WANNA BUY IT AT $300, AND SOME MORE AT A LATE DATE! If it was in November I would consider.. but this is way too far. What's more it's a March release.

Well... let's roughly estimate the American price from the Japanese price. If its around 25000 yen, it might cost US$240 - US$250..

Yeah, I've got enough money for the 3DS and at least one game..but seeing as its coming out next year, I'll have about ?40 more which means I'll have about ?280 to spend on the 3DS. Hopefully it costs about ?180, so I can have enough for 3 games, but I'll most likely just purchase two games

Well, it's pretty much on par with the Wii anyway.

Literally nobody outside of NOA or NOE even know how much this thing will cost in their respective territories anyway.

And even if, $300 isn't that bad for a handheld as impressive as this one. It might be quite a bit coming from Nintendo, but when compared to the other companies this is understandable. People really don't have much to complain about unless Sony manages to release the PSP2 with better specs at a cheaper price (which I wager won't happen unless they've learned some serious pricing lessons from the Go fiasco).

Gaming has, unfortunately, always been an expensive hobby, nothing has changed here. Do I hope this isn't $300? Definately, since I'd like to have an extra 100 clams to invest in a tablet. But do I have any qualms about spending $300 on the device? No, not at all.

it is quite pricey but its 3d without glasses! which isn't cheap to do. and with all the features it comes with I would be happy to save all that up

I think Sony WILL release a PSP with better system specs, though probably a light higher priced than the 3DS. That's the thing, Nintendo is the only company that realizes they don't need the most advanced technology to make a game fun. Sony tried beefing up the PS3 with nVidia graphics, Blu-Ray, and all that stuff, but they never bothered to release many good games or have that many actual features. Like Nintendo said "we're targeting more on software, not hardware". Nintendo realizes people are going to play the games, not have sex with the motherboard. The Wii had the least amount of graphic processing power between XBox and PS3, yet it had the most sales, because they released something cheap and not over-powered. This is why Nintendo is successful, and will always be successful.

I think $250 is a very reasonable price for supporting a company that cares.

In reality, when you compare the specs of the system to the Wii, the price makes total sense.

First all of these new Wii releases then I want to buy my friend a Ps2 for Christmas since he is leaving for college next year, plus comics and now a $200+ price for the 3ds?! I'll never survive...

What kind of price did you expect from a handheld that shows 3D images and is more powerful than a 200 dollar console?

I was expecting it to cost more actually, I just hate that it is so close to being within my range and yet months of work and chores away, partially because my friend saved up enough for three in a month.

Eh, seeing at it will cost like ?200 (max) over here in the UK (Wii cost ?179 at launch, but VAT is increasing..so expect a higher price), I already have enough for it and 1 game. But in 2011, I'll have ?280 for it, plus my Dad hopefully will buy me one game and a accessory pack. and In my ?280, I'll have enough for 2 games :P.

I chipped in 110 dollars from selling my DSi to a friend and they're paying for the rest of the price for the actually 3DS. I'm guessing they'll get me a game or two and seeing as I just got a job at a movie theatre, I'll be buying the games they should've bought me but didn't.

Wow, I could never sell my dsi. Little guy has given me so many good times. And it is region free, which may still come in handy for some ds games.

In New Zealand that price converted to NZ $ is well within my budget. I should be able to get 2-3 games also.

HA, i actually sold my wii and my dsi for the 3ds....... but something happened and now i have nothing. but im saving up and i have about $245 and my mom said if i keep my grades up to A's and B's then she will help me with $100 so i will have enough!!!!!! i will definitely get animal crossing for my first game.

About ?200 from the price in yen. I reckoned us in the UK will have to pay ?170 at the most for it. Still, just speculation.

I sold my DS Lite for 3DS money... :\ But I could never sell my Wii.

Eh, hopefully it will be worth it.

You should have more faith in Nintendo, look at the pricing history of Japanese released consoles and American released consoles. They are more than fair, they are affordable.

If I have to buy it at US$300, I would do. Unless they release it in November. Anyway, my rant is something of the past.
