Default Nintendo eShop Update Thread

The thread to know about the latest digital releases across Nintendo platforms! The 3DS/Wii U eShops, DSi Shop and Wii Shop Channel are updated every Thursday in North America, Europe, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. Unless noted otherwise, all games listed are released on Thursdays. For reviews, check the latest page of the thread. Prices listed do not include tax where applicable. Remember that DLC for most 3DS games will be found through a shop or menu found in the game itself. While 3DS home menu themes are found in the theme shop located in the options and settings menu accessible from the top right corner of the touch screen. Updates for 3DS games are found through the eShop, while updates for Wii U games will automatically download when the software is launched. Most cross buy offers or discounts require the Nintendo Network ID on both the Wii U and 3DS systems to be linked.

On a unrealted note this new update with the eshop and internet browser may cause Ridge Racer 3D to crash ( no pun intended) according to a spotpass notification by Nintendo. Plus we are only hours away from the launch of the Eshop and internet browser update!

Aw man. Japan got Kirby's Dreamland. Anyone know if it'll update this Thursday, or if it won't because it was launched this week?

Will Nintendo update three times in one week? Kind of makes up for the delay, and Zelda was a bit unique I guess.

Gameboy games take next to nothing; a few hundred kilobytes at most.

eShop games not sure, as Nintendo hasn't set a size limit (as far as we know), so could be anything.

^^^ If the 16gb card isn't crazy overpriced I would just go for it. You can never have enough memory as far as I'm concerned.

No, it isn't in 3D. However, there are Save Points that you can use to save the game in its current place immediately, and come back to it later. I wouldn't really recommend putting six bucks down just for that, though.

Nothing here yet as of 1:04 pm EST. But I'm not holding my breath for anything this week. They just launched and then updated with Link's Awakening & all the E3 stuff so I think we should cut them some slack for the rest of the week.

Sorry. But I did say anybody is welcome to update the thread and not just me. I was not aware of the e3 trailers until somebody already posted it and same thing for Green Lantern( I actually just found out about it a few minutes ago on this thread) . I did say that Links Awakening was available before any one else said that. Plus I would update the thread with new posts and not updating the thread starter post. I am not trying to be mean or start any arguments.

Do you have an American 3ds, but live somewhere else?

I have a Japanese 3ds and cant connect to the eshop, I think it might be a region problem but that doesn't really make sense.

Do you have the wireless switch on and is your 3DS connected to the internet?

Anyways all services for the wii shop channel, dsi shop channel and the 3DS eshop will be updated on Thursdays. According to a website there are at least three new dsiware realeases this week on Thursday ( yes we can also post dsiware releases because they are on the eshop) This is only for North America.
The 3DS releases have not been announced

Gold Fever
Zimo:Mahjong Fanatic
Beach Party Craze

Plus Nintendo has said that they are working on two more 3d classics but did not say what they are.

1.What does this have to do with weakly updates?
2.Why did you post this twice?
3.What was the error code?

Maybe they'll surprise us and give us a demo of an E3 game.

Nah, just kidding. I'm sure it'll be some new VC stuff, maybe a Mutant Mudds video if we're lucky.

I'm just hoping we get a single 3DS game to download - apart from the pokemon and 3D version of old NES game excitebike (nice freebies, but not what I'd call a launch lineup) I'm still hoping to see a single 3DS Ware (not the official name, but you know what I mean) game to download - it still kinda feels like the e-shop hasn't actually launched yet, until we get 1 or more real 3DS Ware-type games to buy, rather than just the old virtual console/DSi ware stuff.

Received an update today. Donkey Kong is on Virtual Console + "Coming soon to Nintendo 3DS" appeared.
Excepted a little bit more. America got E3 trailers and Japan has a lot of games on VC. But Japan still doesn't have Pokedex 3D.

How old are you ? That Donkey Kong game is a pretty fun game- what exactly are you expecting? That game won several awards in back in the mid 1990s, and I'm glad to be able to play it again

Japan always gets more than the other territories. Its expected. They have 600+ offerings on the Wii Shop Channel, where the US has just 300+

I am getting rather annoyed now, we all need to e-mail NoE to express our dissatisfaction with regards to the E3 videos. Also some sort of petition should be made, it doesn't make sense at all.

radioheadrule83 from neogaf summed it up quite nicely
Spoiler!

For those who don't know about the gameboy version of Donkey Kong (also known as Donkey Kong '94), it's very different from the original. Here's a review.

It's very underrated because many people think it's a port of the original Donkey Kong game.

It's still not worth $4. I can't really think of a single Gameboy game that is.

Donkey Kong is awesome and well worth ?3.60 (which still isn't equal to $4, no matter how bad you want it to be NoE)

But the rest is piss poor. At this rate it'll be two years before we even get a library that's half complete... OH wait that's their ******ed strategy!

And by the way, no Zelda marketing featuring the Williams family in Europe either. Wow, just missed out on marketing your game with massive celebrity approval. Not nearly as good as watching Helen ****ing Mirren pretending to like Wii Fit, right?

The Williams commercial was a European ad, the release date in the commercial is the 17th.

This is getting so bad it's hilarious.
Call me crazy, but when I bought a 3DS, I was kinda hoping maybe Nintendo would maybe use the eshop to release some games for the 3DS - you know, the console we all gave them our ???/$$$s for.

They didn't have the eshop ready for launch, then delayed it again at the last minute - for some 17 year old emulated games, a pokemon utility and a NES game in 3D?
Did they just rush the 3DS out 6 months too early for financial reasons, before they had time to get anything approaching a launch line-up ready? Or is this what they planned?

Yeah, I can understand why they get their own weird japanese titles, there's quite alot of them. But come on! Giving them more casual games than the other regions is just evil. Yes evil.
I want Kirby and more Mario titles aswell!
Gief Super Mario World and I'll stop complaining.

I just downloaded donkey kong and I am enjoying it. I think it is worth the four ( or five since you cant get four dollars as an add funds option.) dollars I paid for it. If you liked mario vs donkey kong on the gba then this is the same type of game.

Yes, whoever started the thread needs to update the original post every week so we don't have to sift through all the posts to find out.

Thanks!

Nintendo has said that they dont want to call exclusive 3DS downloadable games "3DSWare" because they dont want people to think about it being like Wiiware and DSiWare. Plus Netflix is supposed to be coming in the Summer but no specific month or day has been announced.

Just found this
3DS News: Nintendo 3DS eShop update: Double Dragon, Radar Mission - ComputerAndVideoGames.com

Looks like we're just getting 2 gameboy games (I'm assuming it'll be the gameboy versions based on the abysmal track-record of the eshop so far.)

I love my 3DS now that there is finally a little bit of decent software to buy in shops - but wtf with this eshop? Unless you're a gameboy retro addict it's a joke.

It's lame, I really want some decent Gameboy games, but double dragon and radar mission isn't good enough really, they should have out all the classics like Metroid and Kirby and Kid Icarus, instead of releasing 1 or 2 a week.
I think Nintendo are relying on consumers to buy these games out of boredom while we wait for more to be released.

Bingo.

For the price of a handful of GameBoy games from the eShop you could buy a Dingoo and have the entire library on you at all times.

These will be UK only right? because we already have Radar Mission in the US. Maybe that means that the US will get Kirby, Metroid, Pokemon this week then! Though we will probably get like barbies horse adventures or some other crappy GB game.

I'm guessing the US is getting the same two Europe games and perhaps one more game from looking at the last couple of releases. The best it could be is Kirby which has been out in Japan for awhile.

What is it with gameboy games? I know some of them (Donkey Kong for one) are good games - but they are low-res black and white games from more than 2 decades ago - some of the adult 3DS owners weren't even born when these games were released - I am genuinley amazed at the insultingly bad line-up the eshop is offering - how Nintendo can talk at E3 about how they intend to do the online thing better, learning from their mistakes - and then release this joke of a line-up so far... it just defies belief - it's like someone at Nintendo wants to deliberately go out of their way to make the 3DS online shop a laughingstock compared to the kind of online stores other companies offer their customers.
How many weeks will it be before we get a single eshop game not from the last century?

Haha yeah. Dragon Warrior 1-3 and Dragon Warrior monsters 1 and 2.

Those are by far the best dragon quest/warrior games, and the only ones that I have ever enjoyed.

I guess you just can't please everyone all of the time.......

I think it's great that they are re-releasing the old "classic" GB games 1 or 2 at a time. That way all the new kids on the block might actually *gasp* play some older games and find out that they are actually good.

I was alive during the Gameboy days. Played the absolute mess out of Mario Land, Qix, and Tetris. Wow, has technology blessed us over the years! I can actually fit my 3DS in my pocket and replay some of these classic games.

There is nothing wrong with exposing old Gameboy and Gameboy Color games for people to download and play. Hell, I hope they release numerous GBA games, as well as original IPs for the 3DS eShop, too. However, we've got a brand new handheld that just opened its eShop, and yes, it is struggling at the moment. But just like the Wii Shopping Channel, XBLA, and the PSN, I think the eShop will eventually have an impressive digital library.

As for the time, I've got plenty of Zelda to hold me over for a little while, thanks to Ocarina of Time 3D and Link's Awakening (From the eShop!).

How many people wre sat at home with their fingers crossed saying "please only put two gameboy ports up, please only put two gameboy ports up.."? I don't think this is simply a case of not pleasing all of the people, all of the time. i'm not saying don't release any old gameboy games, just as long as it's not ONLY gameboy games.

I actually played through the gameboy version of Double Dragon a couple of months ago on my Dingoo to see how much of a joke it was. The arcade version I wouldn't have much of a problem with.

If I was to download all the videos and games that have been released since the 3DS came out and play/watch them all, it would've kept me busy for a few hours. Surely some Nintendo fans out there can admit that's not very good. You can like Nintendo and still admit the shop hasn't been going very well. You won't hurt Nintendo's feelings.

axiomprime - I was just being honest. I'm not saying that I love everything Nintendo does but I don't see any reason to complain about the eshop. I don't necessarily like every game that has come out (yet) but I also didn't buy my 3DS to use the eshop. I got my 3DS to play cart games and eventually utilize all of the features that get released for it.

That being said, I think that the eshop is just another reason for me to like what Nintendo is doing currently for their latest portable system. I love the fact that we can download the 3D game trailers and eventually game demos but I'm not really sold on DSiWare, WiiWare or 3DSWare (whenever that comes out) games in general. I think the idea of them is awesome but I have yet to play a single Ware game that I loved and wanted to spend any money on.

The 3D Classics on the other hand........ I will most likely end up purchasing most (or all) of them as soon as they are released.

Any ideas what Australia is getting?
It's 7:25 PM here and no update

Also instead of just saying "this week" wouldn't it be better to add the date of the thursday of that week?

I think its good they are releasing some gameboy games too, but I think it's appalling that they are ONLY releasing a few gameboy games and nothing else. Most of us didn't buy the 3DS believing the online element of the system was going to be just a gameboy emulator - some of us had foolishly got the impression that Nintendo might go wild and maybe release a - dare I say it - NEW game or 2.

Or that even with retro games, maybe they would choose some of the countless classic games from a system less outdated than the gameboy. You know - maybe a system with flashy new-fangled features like - colour?

It's not even so much that they're releasing just Gameboy games, it's the fact that they're really sub-par Gameboy games that nobody asked for.

Here is the press release update site for the US releases. Looks like the US gets Tennis for the GameBoy and some other DSiWares...

Nintendo Download - June 23, 2011

The shops up in England now. Double Dragon and that crappy version of battleships that's way more expensive than a pad of squared paper and a pencil are all that's there. The only new vids are related to those GameBoy games. No 3D content of any kind. The shop's a little better though.

It's odd how Nintendo releases different games in different regions. I wonder how many people in the US will even by the GameBoy Tennis game. The DSiWares look more inviting than any of the 3DS exclusive Virtual Console content.

The really only good Virtual Console titles have been Zelda DX and perhaps Mario Land. I wish the other regions got Kirby's Dream Land. I loved that game way more than Mario Land. I really wasn't a fan of the original Mario Land, but the 6 golden coins was a blast.

those dsiware games were always there but you could't see them unless you searched for them because the shop is awful.

Well another huge failure on Nintendo's part. It really surprises me that they have absolutely no idea what their consumers want. Nobody is going to pay $3 to get a 22 year old game about tennis.

I am finding more RPG/Adventure games for DSiWare than WiiWare, and if you enjoy a good console RPG/Adventure game, DSiWare is much better. Since I never owned a DSi, having access to that library on my 3DS is rather nice... One good DSiWare game is the Minis March Again, with a full level editor. Esspecially if you never owned a DSi, the DSiWare can keep you occupied until a 3DS game release. Helped me while I waited for OoT to release.

woohoo 100th post!!

I would be happy with Double Dragon..but not really a Tennis fan. There's games that I haven't played in DSiWare that I'll probably never find since it's not really organized right (didn't own a DS). I'd rather be able to search within the shop easily and find it instead of going to a website to see what's in there, more convenient.

Yeah I went back to edit that since I remembered it after I posted. Ease of navigation and finding older titles is still rather weird..I'd even be happy if they had an a-z section and I could sit and go through each one until I find something in DSiWare that I want to play.

So basically it's another week with just overpriced, useless dross?

Nintendo are getting arrogant if they think they'll keep us happy with this...

If you guys do the ClubNintendo stuff, when you fill out surveys for Link's Awakening and other eshop related stuff be sure to tell them how unsatisfied you are with the selection. I'm sure we won't see big changes but if they start getting more negative feedback they might reconsider what they're doing and we might get some decent Gameboy Color games instead of third party black and white crap.

In three weeks weve gotten an 3d nes classic, 4 gameboy games,a gbc game, and 6 3d trailers. If they gave out even more in such a short amount of time, theyd be out of stuff to give out. Its called a BUSINESS, they are going to want to keep you coming back each week for more, which you and all the other babies will do regardless of what they give you.

That's the funny thing about the eShop. Most of the time it's crap. We know it, Nintendo knows it, but it's a way to create sales. The reality is they could release 10 games a week because they are nothing but pure ports. If they did that though, they would flood the market and people would only buy the top games. (Megaman, Zelda, Mario, etc.) By releasing crap some people will actually buy the Tennis game and they may make $10,000 for virtually no work or effort. Easy money. =)

I want Link's Awakening, but there's nothing else I want yet. It really bums me off that not only do you have to purchase ?10 store credit minimum, but that all the games are at really stupid price points, just tipping your spending over in to the next bracket. I understand this potentially works well from a business standpoint as it's extra money for Nintendo that people might save otherwise, but currently, it's put me off buying from the shop all together.

I hope at some point they release Super Mario World on the 3DS as a 3D Classic. I think this would be a fantastic way to help make people like the eShop again.

Tell that to Japan. With all that they're getting, they must not be worried about going out of "business."

Ah. what forum would be complete without a few immature members taking time to insult people who have different opinions? Thank god for them, otherwise internet forums would just degenerate into places where people talk about things and share thoughts and opinions.

Just a friendly warning: this word could be considered derogatory and is frowned upon in this forum.

I do agree with your sentiments, though. The eShop today is filled (well, barely actually) with bottom-of-the barrel titles from two decades ago that offer neither entertainment value nor nostalgic flashbacks.

I mean... Radar Mission? WTH NINTENDO?

Radar Mission is good. ALL eShop titles (EXCLUDING Tennis) are good. (yes I am a sucker and bought Tennis.) (not including DSiWare) just get the Mario clock & Pop+ Solo (DSiWare)

I already got 3 of the titles offered in the G&W Gallery for the DS/DSi so its not worth it. it has G&W man hole in it, that title is already on the eShop as a DSiWare title. selling me what I already own? lmao just give me the stupid GB/GBC games that i don't own that arn't pok?mon games because I KNOW YOU WON'T PUT PKMN UP THERE. I never owned a GB/GBC (i have my bro's old GBC though).

You're buying crap games because there's nothing better in the eShop.

Well done. Your gullibility has increased by +1.

The more people there are like you, the less reason Nintendo have to ever make any new stuff or release any of the good old classics.

That's how the original ExciteBike was. Heh, it doesn't make much sense, though, for the racer to slide upwards when he falls forwards. You know you can tap buttons to make him run faster to his bike, though, right?

What time to these updates go live? My 3DS isn't showing anything new except last week's stuff.

Darn, I want Golf and Gargoyle's Quest. It seems strange to me that they do different games for different territories.

Still confused as to why we can't have Xevious...

All I'm waiting for is 3D classics and 3DSWare ....but nothing came out

That's why I'd be buying Golf and Gargoyle's Quest, for nostalgia value really. I played the hell out of them as a kid, especially Golf. Gargoyle's Quest would be way cooler without passwords (yay for save states or whatever they're called on 3DS).

If it's Super Mario Picross I might be interested.

What do you think will be Kirby's price?
I'm considering picking it up.

What I'm really waiting for is the 3D classic versions of Zelda we were promised at this years E3. Also, I thought Reggie said that Zelda DX would have extra 3D effects, perhaps I just misheard him... Anyways, I bought Zelda DX and beat the game(only missed one piece of heart), and no 3D effects.

That's great! I'll be happy to grab them both. Still want Golf and Gargoyle tho.

Gargoyle Golf would be nice as well.

Also, anyone know if the Final Fantasy Legend games are planned for Virtual Console anytime soon? I don't even know who owns those anymore. Square? Nintendo? Sunsoft? Probably Square I guess.

If anyone has impressions on The Lost Down (DSiWare), let me know. It looks cool, but I don't wanna drop $5 unless I know it doesn't suck.

Is Gargoyle's Quest coming to the EU? That's the one single GB game I would buy for the 3DS since I absolutely loved that game and the save feature of the 3DS would make it much easier to play!

I'm really waiting for more GBC games, that was my entry point to portable gaming and the first gaming I did outside of a PC.

I never got into the first Kirby. Pretty much everything after that, definitely, but the first one just felt sort of plain. No power-ups! I'd totally kill for Kirby's Pinball Land.

Ugh, another IMO waste of time update - waiting for a decent less-than-20-year-old game for the eshop feels like waiting for the Wii version of Crysis 2.
Oh well, at least we have Zelda and Mercs to play now No matter how much the eshop line up sucks so far, I'm still glad I got my 3DS.

No offense, but even as lackluster as the eshop is so far, I'd take it over Mercs any day.

This. SSF IV and OoT are both excellent, but when I hold a new Zelda/Mario/new flagship 1st party title I know it'll be worth it. Also RE Revelations and that awesome looking RPG coming early 2012 that I can't remember the name of.

RPG??? Oooooo What is it? Paper Mario is going to be wonderful too (and of course the new Mario 3D and all). 3DS is sort of a must-have system for the games if nothing else.

Plenty of Good DSiWare, contrary to popular belief.
Anomynous Notes and Trajectiile.

I dont have it but I saw a review on ign and they gave it an 8 out of 10 I think.

On an unrelated note has anybody wondered if Kirby Tilt n Tumble would ever come to the Virtual Console? The 3DS has the gyro sensor in it so it could be possible.

It's Heroes of Ruin.

main reason being games for it so far are remakes or ports not specifically made for the 3ds... and no good original games = Schei?e!

Wellll, why else would anyone buy a 3DS if not for the games? I bought it for Zelda, for the DSiWare stuff I missed out on, and for future games.

I really want some more traditional RPGs. Heroes of Ruin looks a little too Diablo for me, but maybe it'll still be neat.

If they do get SNES titles (which would be neat), I hope that those of us who already have them on the Wii Virtual Console will be able to somehow transfer them to our 3DS. I don't wanna buy them twice!

Added after 13 Hours 23 minutes:

Sorry, hate to be a pest, but has it been announced at all what will be coming out this Thursday? Does it normally get announced ahead of time, or is it usually a surprise? It's kind of fun.

The last boss on Mario Land makes me want to chew glass.

Nope, no Mega Man for the US yet! I wonder what we'll get this week. hmmm.

Anyway, yep, Japan got Gargoyle's Quest, which I'd LOVE. They also got Golf. I played the heck out of that as a kid, and I'd love to buy it again.

Haha, it was quite tricky, used up quite a few lives on that one! Kirby's way too easy, and you don't have to start again from the beginning of the game if you lose all your lives. Completed it in my hour lunch break!

At the end of the day, you gotta keep checking what Japan get, cos they get content way earlier than we do. I'm hoping for a Pokemon Blue/Red, Super Mario Land 2 and Metroid 2 announcement soon!!

And they have to do Super Mario Bros 3D Classic, Right?

Yup, I'd love to get all of those! There's a lot of Game Boy Advance stuff I'd love to see, too, if I'm being honest. And of course tons of 3D classics. I wonder what's taking them so long with those? Super Mario Bros. 3D Classic is gonna be awesome!

I tried to defend Nintendo at the beginning of this eshop mess but it's out of hand now, they just refuse to release anything decent.

I'm sure we'll get decent stuff eventually, but yeah, pretty poor management. I'm annoyed at NoA in general lately.

One thing that annoys me is no one on the internet bothers to announce the US eShop updates ahead of time. So I guess I'll find out tomorrow what the US is getting tomorrow. Hurray for surprises.

Yeah, Urban Champion is an odd choice. Was it popular in Japan or something? Maybe next we'll get like Donkey Kong Jr. Math or something.

What the hell is Nintendo doing anyway? sigh.
