There are already fundamental reasons for why a multiplayer Metroid is a terrible idea, outside of Nintendo's awful online system.
The major problem being that the series has one primary goal: Exploration. Echoes tried to tack it on and it was barely worth touching. Hunters tried to build the game around it and ended up ruining any chance it had at a good single player campaign. The two modes can't coexist without hurting the other when the series was not built to be a competitive shooter. A multiplayer could possibly work if they tried for a different approach to how it would function, but in the case of the Halo/Gears/Killzone rival you're asking for, it ain't happening. Rather than attempting to change the entire gameplay style of the game to create a working online, it'd be more beneficial to just start an entirely new franchise from the ground up to compete with the others. |

Iv only played 2 metroid games Prime and Other M and if they are going to make another one I dont how they can make it better I mean sure they can maybe make a different story line but its all basicly the same you all in space and no where else but...... adding different stuff to the suit would be awsome!

[QUOTE=chipvader;290780]look at the system they used in conduit 2 and maybe in multiplayer mode u only get 1 weapon and afew powers from the suit and stuff along with the survival mode but the campaign would work like any other metroid
The multiplayer would be sort of like Prime! As for campaign at least take out the recharging missles its almost like samus is pulling missles out of her butt!!! |

While I could see them making a game that uses the metroid setting but just not be a metroid game. Where you play as a Galactic Federation Trooper ,The story mode could be about fighting the space pirates and give lore on races that doesn't have much like the ones from the hunter game. The online could be where one side the Galactic Federation and one side is the space pirates and you fight in spectacular alien environments Metroid is known for.(edit im adding some more information to the story mode)
In story mode you can have a hugh base of operations where you can get random misson from a holygraphic display think the quest bored from pokemon mystery dungeon that will be like space pirates invade (insert a planet name)help repel their forces or other missions like protect cargo from getting stolen or escort a Ambassador to a planet, they could also add ship combat.they will also be apart from the random missions main mission that you unlock after doing a few random mission that progress the story line. WHY DOES EVERYONE HATE OTHER M!?!?!?!? There is nothing wrong with the game. Just because the creator of the series wanted to actually add emotion to a game that otherwise had little human interaction in it doesn't mean the game is any worse than any of the other counter-parts. I never actually finished Hunters though, so I can't defend it as well but I didn't really see a problem with it. With the exception that hackers/cheaters took over the online multiplayer.

It turns what would otherwise be a forgettable Metroid title into a possible series killer. And Yokoi died years ago. |

Now, I'm not a great writer, but I am able to objectively criticize my work when it is an obvious piece of rubbish. Sakamoto apparently wasn't, and clearly had to much hubris to actually hire a, y'know, professional writer. Other M's story and dialogue are bland, often ridiculous (try explaining that whole "thumbs down" backstory early on in the game. I doubt that would even make sense in Japanese), and embrace the worst aspects of Viewers Are Morons. Sadly, that drug down what could have been a classic game. Just listen to the voice actors. I may be in the minority here, but they seem to me to be very talented, but hindered by Sakamoto's poor writing and direction. The cutscenes that D-Rockets made were gorgeous, but they have to depict the mostly bland locals that Sakamoto gave them to work with. Team Ninja's work on the gameplay is tight and sublime, but Sakamoto's insistence on using only the Wii remote keep the controls from being as good as they could be. The end result can only be one of the biggest disappointments in gaming history. Despite all that, I still liked the game. Much more than Prime 3, in fact. Yet I can even say that Prime 3 is the better game. The mechanics weren't to my taste, but Retro did a much more professional job than Project M. The worst thing might be that Nintendo may not try a project like this again. Whether or not you like cinematic, cutscene-heavy games aside, Other M proved Nintendo could do it, if only they had a more capable director in charge. I don't see Nintendo trying this again anytime soon, and it may have justified to them their position of staying inside their box and ignoring what everyone else does. |

Poor Jessica Martin will probably won't get another big voice role for a while. She had a couple scenes in the game where she actually expressed strong emotion and talent, but the voice direction given to her and her dialog just made her role unbearably bad. |

I'd LOVE to see an HD Metroid Prime game, it's my favourite game franchise, but not an online one. That said, I'd love to see Nintendo maybe pick up Call of Duty or something along those lines for the Wii 2. I see no reason that Activision won't release CoD for Wii 2, they've been making stripped down versions of the franchise for the Wii since launch day, and I'm sure it'd be easier to port the game from 360 or PS3 and add a map to the controller screen. I guess we'll all find out tomorrow. |
