3DS Game Recommendations
FAR too many of these threads have been cluttering up this section, so here's an official topic to help filter them out.

What Game Should I get?
I have just bought a 3DS Cosmic Black and I got Lego Star Wars: 3D with it. I am going on holiday on thursday, and I would like 1 more game to go with. I have ?40, so which one should I get?

If you like action adventure, Zelda: OoT is great. And if you like to shoot things/ and are a high score junky who loves fast paced gameplay,
Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D is a good choice. |

I like most sort of things, But I dont like complicated ones with plenty of puzzles etc.. I like fast games, but some relaxing games that are fun and to get highscores etc... Also where u can unlock new stuff and customize.

I have just watched some videos about Resident Evil from IGN, They aren't to impressed with it. They say its much of a mini game, they say the gameplay is fun, but the time limit spoils it and it struggles with frame rates. What else you guys think?

I would suggest buying:
Ghost Recon Shadow Wars. That's it for the moment. If you're into nintendogs, nintendog's +cats is a good sequel. |

Zelda, since it's a good POLISHED game, as far as releases go as of yet. That or Resident Evil Mercenaries.
But if you are patient enough, wait for Pacman and Galaga Dimensions. Though I am wondering if this should be posted in a different thread, no offense... |

Yeah, but it's really slow moving. I will say it has awesome graphics, and the 3D looks amazing. I just thought the gameplay got old real fast. I found myself only playing it because I just wanted to say I beat it.

many people have gone searching the internet for the best 3ds games selections for when you just get a 3ds my top 3 that are released at this moment in time are...
the legend of Zelda ocarina of time(a fun filled adventure RPG). Super Street Fighter IV (A continuous game where some people will strive to beat there opponent. and finally Pilot Wings Resort(A game which you will enjoy trying to beat your high-score). I'm getting a 3ds soon. I'm wondering which games I should get with it. I know for a fact that I'm getting ocarina of time, but I want another as well. I can't decide between a few of em...

Hack n Slash games never get a good review from reviewers!
I don't see why! And if you look at the user reviews on Metacritic, it is 7.1/10 . And you cannot fully trust these reviewers as they play games all day and review so many that they compare the games to each other i.e. Grand theft auto for the PS3 is obviously going to be beter than Nintendogs yet the same person may review them and therefore they are compared to each other as unfair as it is I prefer to listen to a user's review because they are not obliged to review. Do you think that Resident Evil The Mercenaries has been successful? At the moment it is the 3DS' top selling game! yayaayy. There is a forum with tens of thousands of views in this forum dedicated to the love for the game, but still Metacritic gives the game a 5.9/10.... you cannot trust them! make your own score, do not follow there's as obviously they cannot be fully trusted every time.

I reccomend Ridge Racer 3D on sale. I got it two weeks ago for 30$ [new] and played it on the plane during my trip.
Definitely a great racing game and one of the best uses of the 3D feature on the system. |

In my opinion a really good game is Blazblue Continuum Shift II. It has tons of content, I'm past 16 hours and only beaten one of the stories out of like 20. It's fully voiced, so much voice work, has 10 different gameplay modes, achievements, a gallery where you have to unlock items. The only thing that's lacking is online mode but online's not a strong part of playing imo. The only thing I don't like is that the 3D is tacked on, but that doesn't matter really, it's a 2D sprite based game, you don't need 3D.
Anyone's opinion on this? |

Hey, I am new to these forums, so please take it easy :P
Anyway, tomorrow I will be going to pick up my 3DS, with a copy of OoT. But here is my dilemma - I originally planned to also pick up Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D and ST:E3 as well, but I fear my wages may not be as good as originally planned so will have less money to throw about :P My question is, which one, from PES2011 and ST:E3 do I leave? And reasons why. I am a big football (soccer) fan but I also love Star Wars. Thanks in advance guys

And out of the two games you are talking about, Star Wars has an average rating of 6.7/10 and has sold 0.23Million copies Pro Evo Soccer has an average rating of 7.5/10 and has sold 0.21Million copies. I think that out of all the games, these aren't two of the gems. Have you thought about any other games instead? Well in my opinion I would get ST:E3 now, and wait for Fifa 12 which comes out in September I believe. Or if you don't have enough for that then just wait for Fifa 12.

I heard from kotaku that Fifa should be a really solid game, so maybe you can wait if the game interests you. I would just buy Zelda if I were you and either wait for games coming out soon like Fifa, Driver Renegade, Need For Speed, Kid Icarus and/or the Mario games, or if you want a game now I too suggest Rwsident Evil The Mercenaries (best graphics on the 3DS, an online mode and a lot of fun), or maybe Lego Pirates of the Caribbeans as I heard it's a superior game than Lego Star Wars if that's what you meant by ST:E3.

Both are great great games, PES2011 has alot of features for a handheld footy game (although I haven't played one in a few years!) Pity there is no wifi multiplayer! Just bought a 3DS a week ago, haven't gotten any games yet cause I didn't think any of them are worth $40. (mainly got it for mario and other games coming out later, only got the system now because I want the 20 free games, and getting the price exchange at best buy for my $80)
anywho, I found asphalt on amazong for $20. Should I get it, or wait for Drive Renegade for $30 from toys r us at the end of the month? I've never played either series, but I like need for speed. Thoughts? I'm already getting RE so I'll have something to tide me over. |

Hey, I'm new here and I just picked up my 3DS the day before price drop.
The only game I have so far is Ocarina of Time and I'm going on vacation tomorrow and I'm looking for another game for the trip. I was thinking about one of these: RE: The Mercenaries Dead or Alive Street Fighter I've played mercenaries on RE5 to death and really enjoy it. I rented Street Fighter 4 and while I liked it I found the combos and specials really hard to pull off. I've never played a DoA game but I've heard its a lot faster and simpler then Street Fighter. So which of these do you think I should get? Also any other recomendations I'd love to hear them. |

From what I've seen on Amazon, allot of the good 3DS games haven't even come out yet. I'm looking forward to Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land and espeically Professor Layton & the Mask of Miracle.
But if I were to suggest good games that are out now, I would definitely say Nintendogs + Cats. I love this game because it's one of those games where the plot doesn't end and you can play for as long as you want without thinking 'The story is going to finish soon and then I won't have anything to do.' Actually, now I think about it, I bought my 3DS without any games, and I didn't buy any games for at least two weeks, because there is so much built in software already. I spent so much time shooting my own face in FaceRaiders, I'm pretty sure my parents think I hate myself. The 3D camera has no end of entertainment, especially with the Mystery mode. I've only used the 3DS Sound once, because it is basically the same as the DSi version. I've also been scanning numerous websites for weird and wacky Miis to make, and now I don't have room for any more Mii. =( I haven't had the chance to use Streetpass because I haven't been anywhere with my 3DS. I also had a half completed game of Professor Layton & Pandoras Box.
I actually completely forgot about proper games because the built in software is so good. I got Pilotwings, but I haven't played it much yet so I can't really say much about it, but it seems good so far. Merleey x |

OK here is a complicated post, hope you can catch up with it all...
I had $45, i went on ebay and bought my sister 1000 colorful styles for $8, which makes my $45 down to $37. Just last week it was my Best friends birthday, so i got him a $20 gift card to GameStop, which makes my $37 down to $17. I am looking to buy a NEW memory card, Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, and some more ( i cant really think of now) But my birthday is on November 26th, and i think i must get some from my parents. Also i dont normally get checks or gift cards, so i must have to get it from my friends? some how? Also this is a 2 part question... My friend is going to buy a 3DS and he has 2 ds lites. One broken and 1 that is normal. He has 7 games to trade in. He just bought a top screen kit to fix his broken Ds. And with all the good deals going on at GameStop how much will he have to spend after all the trade ins and deals? |

So try Starship Defense (DSiWare), A Kappa's Trail(DSiWare), Tetris Party Live(DSiWare), Spotto!(DSiWare) and Mario vs Donkey Kong Minis March Again!(DSiware). All awesome first party games. And the only one worth over 5 dollars is the M VS DK one.

I would definitely go for Pilotwings, especially if you are new to 3DS, because it is a good oppurtunity to get used to the controls. Before I got this game, I just couldn't work the circle pad, but now it's easy peasy.
I'm not really sure why this game has got bad reviews because it's really entertaining. People have said that it only lasts them a couple of days, but I've had it for at least two weeks now, and I'm nowhere near finished. I love this game! |

If you like shooters I'd recommend resident evil : mercs despite the bad reviews it's really addicting and loads of fun if your playing online there's almost always someone hosting a level you wanna play or if not you can host your own but it's still pretty fun offline but the appeal won't last that long since it doesn't have a story. Just my two cents.

Help me expand my game collection
Well back a few months ago I purchased a 3DS and a few games, I played it but then got sick of it so sold it and all the games. Come earlier this week and after pulling the pin on one of my other hobbies I grabbed another 3DS as they are so cheap now and a few games that I know I liked as I had them before.
These are: Street fighter IV 3DS ? I quite enjoy this. Monopoly ? This would be one of my favorite games. Warioware DIY ? I am only just starting to play this but find it ok so far. Jewel Quest ? This is also a bit of fun. Based on this what would be some other games that I might like? I purchased some other this week but ending up trading them for the above as I didn't like them. Definitely get Donkey Kong. It is an amazing game start to finish. It starts out as an action/platform game like the original Donkey Kong arcade game but develops into a much deeper strategy game. It has 101 levels, so it is definitely worth $3.99. I got about 6 hours of gameplay.
I also stand by your choice of Link's Awakening. That is an awesome game. I got about 12 hours of gameplay. As for other titles, I really can't recommend DSiWare; it just isn't very appealing on the 3DS screen, and even the first party titles are decent at best. If you must, Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again and Mighty Flip Champs! would be the best options. I personally don't think Excitebike is worth the same price as Link's Awakening. You will get bored of it very quickly. Remember, it is simply a NES ROM with 3D graphic enhancements. Save your remaining balance for some of the more interesting upcoming games such as Super Mario Land II: 6 Golden Coins and Metroid II. |

I'm thinking on getting it but the reviews held me back. I've seen some mission gameplay and it looks quite fun. As the reviews said, it lack of people and cars. But the graphics are nice, if only there's no limitation on the cartridge Ubisoft can add online features and people and car. But if you really want this game, get it, you can always return a game if you don't like it. I have my decision that i'm getting Driver San Francisco on the Wii which has more cars and online features.
Wait for more reviews from IGN and Gamespot. Hopefully you make up ur mind on getting this game. |

Only game worth getting and keeping for the 3DS at the moment is Ocarina of Time. Everything else is way too short, a ****ty port, or has no replay value.
In a few days, starfox is coming out. I would highly suggest it, because it is going to be the game that isn't a ****ty port, has a lot of replay value, and is a game worth keeping. As for other things... Dragon Quest Monsters Joker 2 is coming out for the DS on the 19th, and it is much better than the first Joker, and feels much more like Dragon Warrior Monsters 1 and 2, which were amazingly good. For games coming out this holiday season, I would suggest Kid Icarus, Mario Kart, Super Mario Land, Cave Story. Then tales of the abyss is later next year, as well as games like luigi's mansion 2 and kingdom hearts. All of the games I have mentioned are games that will more than likely be worth getting. |

Personally, I don't think it would be worth 70 dollars, but I'm still open to trying it out. Hopefully this is just a spinoff and not another reboot. Spyro isn't even important in this game which makes me think it's not really a reboot. If I were you, I'd watch some gameplay videos and read some reviews after it's released and then make a decision based on that. I think people are getting the wrong idea from what this game is trying to be. It's similar to how people were reacting to the third game in the Parasite Eve universe not being called Parasite Eve. The game isn't called Spyro's Adventure: Skylanders, it's not trying to be a Spyro game. This is trying to be it's own thing but link up with Spyro so children who know him from his most recent adventures would want it. I also grew up with "classic" Spyro and may not like his most recent ventures in gaming but I have to say this looks fun and I do plan on getting it. |

You basically answered the question yourself: DoAD.
Street Fighter on the PC is better than the 3DS version (playstyle isn't any different). Go play it to death (recommendation: buy an arcade stick). I'm not that into DoA, I prefer Street Fighter. |

Should i get Mario 3d Land?
Hi guys, as a well known fact im so excited about Kid Icarus: Uprising. So, since it was announced at first for this year, i was saving money to get it, buuut, as we recently know, it was delayed to 2012 for Japan (wich means we'll get it a little later). I still have fun with my RE Mercenaries, but i'd like to have a diferent game to play with.
So, Mario Land was confirmed to arrive this November, wich is more or less the date i expected at first for KI:U. Should i get it while KI:U is released? I love Mario, but im not sure since ML3D seems a little like Galaxy...i played Galaxy a few times, i found it entertaining but didnt really got hooked to it, though i like plattformers, and i see no other game that interests me in near releases...

Well, not many people have played it, so I don't think anyone here can recommend it with actual first-hand experience...
I'd say wait for a review or something. I would recommend it from what we've seen, though, because it's looking to be better than Galaxy, in my opinion

Hey guys, my turn.
I'm going on a road trip tomorrow, so I'm picking up things to keep me occupied. I have enough store credit for two 3DS games. One of them is already decided to be Bit Trip. For my second title, I'm a little more open. My current choices are Overclocked, Star Fox or Mercs.

Hey. This may be a hard one to answer because these games aren't even out yet, but should I buy Super Mario 3D Land and/or Mario Kart 7? I haven't touched a Mario game since Super Mario Sunshine (the only Mario games I've played are Sunshine and SMB 1/2/3 when I was a kid) and I thought it was an enjoyable game. Nothing special, but OK. And also, I've never played any Mario Kart game. I'm not a hardcore Mario fan but I might be interested in these ones. Oh and I love multiplayer games.

Mario Kart 7, or both. If you love multiplayer games and own a Nintendo console, you really need to play Mario Kart. And the Mario platformers after Sunshine have been consistently great as well.

Starfox or Devil Survivor Overclocked?
I know there was a similar post but unlike the the guy in the lost before I have never played starfox 64. I have a very unbiased opinion since I haven't played both and both genres seem to be entertaining to me. Just want to here a few opinions of what you think is better and would love to here from people who have played both. |

Xevious, 4 reasons...
-Its in 3D, ands very good -it a arcade classic -Xevious came first than twin bee copied the idea -Xevious is a good game to waste time and just get hooked on it. |

I own RE Merc and Pirates 3D. So all of that 3 games, Mercenaries is the best. I finished Pirates in 20+ hours including free play collecting Ship bottles, treasure, etc. But after that, you'll get over it pretty quick but overall this is a pretty fun game. I got Mercs last week, and i so love it. I played it for about 30hours and i haven't unlocked all the costumes and medals(this is because i play every mission with every character trying to get SS and my partner often dies when we get a good combo going). Very addicting co-op online or local put a lot replay value and also the skill tree makes it even better. I'd say the 3D in this game is mediocore but you see ur enemy farther than the character in TPS and with the 3D on, try closing one eye when using a sniper riple it kinda helps aiming but you don't have to do it(this is what the CAPCOM guy said, i forgot his name)
I'd say get Mercs or Pilotwings if you don't like fast paced game or zombies. I added you, add me back soon. FC: 0130 - 1822 - 7891 |
