Default Does Luigi's Mansion have private online sessions?

Hello,

My boyfriend and I really want to get the game and we was wanting to know before we get it right away, does the online mode allow for private games?

Like can we just make a game with only the two of us in it without anyone else joining? We are looking for a new game in which we can play online together with the 3DS and when we heard a while ago this has online, we were estatic...but I cannot find any information on google about what I need to know.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can just set it to be just your friends. Make sure it's just you and your boyfriend.

As Jarinex said, yes you can. You can go Online, or you can play Locally. With Online, you can choose Worldwide or just with friends. With Local. all you will be playing with is whoever is in the same room as you with another 3DS. If you want to just play with your Boyfriend, just choose Locally.

1: This could have been put in the mario 3DS section
2: You could have just asked the luigi's mansion dark moon OT.

Great game. I'm just at the first mansion and i already feel that worth the wait and money. Only thing i don't like so far is the multiplayer, after two or three minutes EVERYONE disconnects and leaves me alone in the mansion, its kind of awkward, anyone else have experienced this?

I bought the game last night and I'm already on the fourth mansion. Damn. I'll be done with this game before this morning D: .

This always happens with games. I get super hyped before launch, love the game, then get sad that it's over. Oh well. Maybe DLC will happen.

There are 5 mansions in the single player, and the scarescraper, which makes it 6.

I'm liking it so far. I have a few complaints that hold it back though.

1. Why can't it just be one mansion, that you are free to explore? I don't like the mission structure, I love exploring, but they keep pulling me out. I'm kinda OCD, so then I have to go through each room again to make sure I get EVERYTHING.

2. Portrait Ghosts. If it had these, It would be my favorite 3DS game. I went into a room with a shower, when I pulled back the curtain, it was just a bland green ghost. Portrait ghosts Nintendo. They made the first game, pretty angry they didn't make a return.

It's an excellent game though. Looks great, and is pretty fun to boot.

Who cares about portrait ghosts, they were just a tiny addition to luigi's mansion and nothing else, and if you like exploring, just go to the second to last mission of every mansion and walk around all you want.

Lot's of people actually. They had a ton of personality. They were unique, and I looked forward to fighting them. I'm not the only one who thinks this. Polygon gave the game a 7 because of the lack of portrait ghosts. It's a big deal, even if it's not to you. It get's tiring fighting the same boring ghosts over and over again.

You are in the minority when you say "who cares about portrait ghosts"

Also, I just think the game would have benefited from a 1 huge mansion to explore structure. It's my personal preference.

I still love the game, it's probably my second favorite 3DS game. I just hink it could have been that much better with those things.

So I got Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon the other day... Where to begin?

Well, I definitely like all the call-backs to the original Luigi's Mansion. I like how Prof. E. Gadd seems to acknowledge that it's been a long time since they were last together... Really, it has. Too long, in fact. I also like the setting of Evershade Valley, and how Prof. E. Gadd moved his base of operations there to study the more peaceful ghosts. I think what I like most about this is that Next Level Games is making it, which in my mind, means this is part of what can be laughingly called "Mario canon". It's weird because this game was basically made because Shigeru Miyamoto wanted it to, and here we have a non-Japanese developer making the game! Just kind of blows my mind a bit, especially considering they've only made spin-offs before.

The fact that the game is split up into missions is a cool idea, too, though it does kind of mean you can't just explore on your own, and sometimes you have to go to the right mission in order to get some things, but still, no real problems with it.

I like Luigi's run when he's in a dark room... or rather, when he's scared because there surprisingly aren't that many "dark rooms".

Okay, I'm about to go into nitpick territory, because there are quite a few things that annoyed me in the game, either that or just felt... off.

So apparently most of the rooms are turned on, and only turn off when a ghost appears. How's that work? I mean, I know these places are haunted and whatnot, but in the original Luigi's Mansion, the basic idea was to catch all the ghosts and turn the lights on, and when the lights were on, that meant there were no ghosts in that room. It made sense, especially when the power went out and the ghost had a complete run on the mansion. Here, a room can be bright and STILL have a ghost randomly show up. I guess it adds to the unexpected factor, but... I don't know, it seemed weird to me.

Another weird thing is that Luigi will ALWAYS have his light on, even in a lit room. Why? Shouldn't he save batteries? And I'm not talking about the Dark-Light Device, that you can turn on and off on a whim, or even the Strobulb, which you can ALSO turn on and off when you need to. Why can't Luigi just turn the flashlight on when he's only in a dark room?

...You know, I might as well talk about the controls, and I WOULD say they take some getting used to if I was being charitable, but there are just so many things that annoy me about them. First off, why the **** do I need to hold down the be button to run? Why can't I just run by, you know, sliding the circle pad all the way? Like most 3D games, including the original Luigi's Mansion? Not to mention, it would make things SO much more convenient when using the other features of the Poltergust 5000, where I can move as quickly as I want using them and NOT having to switch between the buttons or holding them down simultaneously! but now for the part that annoys me the most: you can't control which direction Luigi sucks stuff up, or points the Strobulb or Dark-Light Device at! Well, you can by holding the 3DS at a certain angle (which is stupid, BTW, I'd rather NOT have to physically move my 3DS in order to make something work in the game), but you can't actually turn around or point in a specific direction like you could in the original Luigi's Mansion! I've lost SO much health because of this, it's such a crippling gameplay mechanic; there MUST have been a better solution than this! Like using the D-pad, maybe! Yeah, all it does is make Luigi cry "Hello", which is kind of a cute shout-out to Luigi calling Mario in the original game, but there, he only does that when he's not banging on walls or checking cabinets and drawers, so they basically wasted TWO potential buttons with this control scheme!

...And speaking of checking stuff, I missed how in the original game, you can pretty much check whatever you want, whenever you want, either by the aforementioned banging or with your Poltergust, and it indicates that it's been searched by giving off a puff of dust. In THIS game, you can only check certain objects by pressing X, and the Poltergust just makes thing shake, and there's NOT indication as to whether something's been searched and there's nothing there, so there are moments where I use my Poltergust on, say, a ceiling fan, to see if I can get some money or something, only to keep spinning it and nothing happens!

The music... Well, it's not bad, but I feel like the main theme just isn't scary, just sort of generally gloomy, at least in the first mansion. I don't find it as memorable as the original theme, not to mention, aside from a few variations in the other mansion, I don't think it's actually present in a dark room, which I can't remember the theme of... In the original, the theme was consistent, and easily distinguishable, and oh-so memorable! Luigi whistles the theme in a lit room, whereas he hums the theme in a dark room, where it gets a LOT more scary... Maybe it's because I was younger back then, but I found the game, it's music, and it's enemies to be rather terrifying. Of course, I don't so much now, but still, there wasn't much in the game to suggest they are otherwise nice or goofy. This game, they look much more cartoonish and we see their antics constantly, kind of takes away from the scary factor. See, I always kind of sympathized with Luigi in the first game since he's clearly terrified and worried about his brother in a very dangerous mansion. In this game... Well, there is clearly danger, since I keep losing health, but I don't get the terrifying factor here...

At least until the first boss, I thought she was kind of creepy... Although I DID like that
Spoiler!

I also like that there are name sand descriptions of enemies in the game. See, I always liked knowing the otherwise nameless enemies of games like this, especially if they feel unique and have unique names. It's something that's lacking in a lot of modern-day games.

I feel like there was something else I wanted to mention about this game... Something else that annoyed me... Eh, I'm sure it'll come to me. Besides, I think I've been mean enough, I actually really like this game, I just wished it could have ironed out a few things or took more of an example from the original game in some regards.

So I got my pre-order today and.. It is cool, kind off Zelda, it makes you think A LOT (Hell I spent 1:26 H in 1-4) and it is cool to catch ghost and seeing luigi scared is cool, the scarescrapper though... Dunno what's wrong in there? I mean, I don't know how to start a match for it to appear in the friendlist that people can join, and I tried to do one by my own and it was cool, but I needed more people.. When I played with a random guy online, I couldn't see him, and it was so hard to find, so if anyone wants reply me to add you and go to the scarescrapper and maybe you can teach me

OH CRAP, I just remembered what I wanted to mention before! Two things, actually.

So like before, Prof. E. Gadd contacts Luigi via a modified version of a Nintendo portable console, in this case, an original Nintendo DS. In this game, though, he contacts you WAY too often, and considering you're usually in-and-out of a mansion thanks tot he mission system, it feels really intrusive, especially since a lot of what he says isn't really necessary and kind of pointless...

EXCEPT for when you encounter your first Boo. He waits until AFTER you already captured it to contact you! And let me tell you, unlike Boos in the first game, which were like normal ghosts only you just had to keep pointing your Poltergust at it instead of actively sucking them up like regular ghosts, here, and I swear this was not at ALL self-explanatory when I first tried it, you have to locate him with the Dark-Light device (not too bad in and of itself), then you suck up ITS TONGUE, not the actual Boo himself, but it's TONGUE, have it bounce about across the screen, then when it's dizzy, suck it up... And you have to be right next to it for it to work, too, the first few times I tried it, it was under a table and I couldn't reach it! Given how much Prof. E. Gadd preps you on every other aspect of this game, it felt WAY too obtuse for you to just get the hang of it immediately... Hell, there isn't much in this game that you get the hang of immediately... Hell, I relied mostly on what I knew from the last game, and even THAT had a practice mode. :/

I feel terrible for complaining so much, but at least I got these things off my chest.

Hell, I relied mostly on what I knew from the last game, and even THAT had a practice mode. :/

I feel terrible for complaining so much, but at least I got these things off my chest.
I loved catching that boo, and I was happy E.Gadd didn't call me, E. Gadd is actually annoying mostly on the first mission but later it becomes normal and he don't call you too often

Well, okay, maybe it's good that E. Gadd didn't call you, but like I said, it was NO self-explanatory at all!

Wait...no portrait ghosts? But they were fun as hell on the first game, and you actually had to think how to get them, unlike the generic ghosts/boos...

not to mention they were major bosses

stupid idea imo

Pretty much this. I agree with just about everything. The running thing is especially annoying. I still really like the game, but it does some things that hold it back. It ditches certain things in the original that were great.

Oh no, a game is trying to be different from the previous game and not just blatantly copy it.

Just because I have some negative things to say that automatically makes it whining. So I'm not allowed to not like something, is that it? You must think you're really high and mighty, thinking you're taking the high group by "calling me out" like that, hmm? I was tempted to ignore this, but I feel I should address this... really stupid post all the same.

Okay, moving on.

There ARE major bosses in these games. And I think they got around the personalities the portrait ghosts had by giving personalities to ALL the ghosts. Like it or not, the ghosts of the original Luigi's Mansion were more-or-less obstacles for Luigi to overcome. While I admit the designs of these new ghosts leave something to be desired, they still have unique traits about them.

I'm commenting on the fact that people are so sad that the portrait ghosts are gone and that automatically makes this game worse than the other one. I'm glad they aren't in here. It gives the game it's own unique flavor.

Don't like it? Deal with it

Who freaking cares? This is a sequel, don't expect a tiny feature from the original in the sequel. If you ask me, the bosses and characters in this have alot more fun to deal with than the portrait's.

i didnt know bosses were considered a "tiny feature" D: next Zelda should have dungeon bosses removed and replaced with generic looking enemies

I'm honestly okay with the lack of portrait ghosts. I mean, after all, I really didn't expect this game to be just like the first one, and indeed, there's plenty of things in this game to differentiate it from the first, and believe me, that's a GOOD thing.

If this game had the same thing, it would be considered too much like the original. And the bosses aren't generic at all, the boss you fight isn't "Just a ghost", it's fitted to the theme of the mansion, the first mansion has 3 sister ghosts you have to fight, and the third has mummy's you can attack.

It would feel cheap if in the plot the portrait ghosts were also thrown in.

"Oh BTW Luigi, the ghosts of my paintings escaped again. Capture them while you also look for the Dark Moon pieces, will ya?"

Spoiler!

Portrait Ghosts are not a tiny feature. They are interesting ghosts that flesh out a mansion, and are actually difficult and fun to fight. I'm not saying copy the first game, but don't take out one of the best parts. I don't see how replacing them with generic ghosts is a good thing by "differentiating".

Just because I'm angry about this and a few things doesn't mean that I don't still really like the game, I do, but I think that this and a few other things could have made it that much better. We critique the things we love as they say.

I'm really disappointed with the flaming defense force of this game. It's ok to have different opinions guys.

These "generic ghosts" you speak of had more personality than the original ones.

How so?

Portrait ghosts all looked different. Some spoke, all carried out functions that they did in their living life. They all had a sort of creepy look about them. They together fleshed out what the mansion was like before, and made it feel like a haunted house.

The new ghosts laugh and stuff. I don't see the logic here. It's your opinion though.

How about, instead of throwing in the same thing again, what if they make a concept similar to the portrait ghosts? I dunno, some sort of special ghosts that are bigger and look a bit different from the rest?

I didn't say make the same portrait ghosts. They could do different ones, heck I would be happy with unique ones.

I dunno, using the portrait ghosts concept again would make the sequel feel like an "expansion pack" of the original IMO. Dark Moon has plenty of new things already, the only thing it seems to be lacking is bosses, so I don't think it needs to bring the portrait ghost concept again (and even then, the game's already out, so no use crying over spilled milk)

I didn't say use the same portrait ghosts. They could do all new ones for each mansion. It would be awesome. Portrait ghosts wouldn't be a copy, but rather just taking an excellent concept and bringing it over.

So this game pretty much proves that Luigi>>Mario right?

He has so much more personality.

When he answers the DS: Yelllo? And then Chao when he hangs up.

He's better.

It's not a tough one. Luigi's Mansion is the clear choice.

Does this game control well? I have big hands and the 3ds is rather uncomfortable for me. If the game controls smoothly I can deal with it. Is it really good? Also can it be played in short bursts?

I can't entirely answer your question about the controls because I haven't played the game for myself yet, but I've heard that the controls are rather easy to get used to. But yes, you can play the game in short bursts. The game is actually divided up into "levels" (such as A-1, A-2, etc) and each level seems to be about 15-30 minutes depending on how long you take.

I didn't say use the same portrait ghosts again either. I said the portrait ghosts concept. Rather than bringing that back, they should make unique ghosts that are different from the rest. They don't have to be sealed in a painting in order to be awesome or different, now do they?

oh no, that's not what I meant either. I see what your saying.

Just unique humanoid ghosts would work for me.

Holy Shi*. That first boss was seriously one of the best boss fights I've ever played. It was challenging, fun, and even incorporated 3D well. I loved how the surroundings changed over time, and the animation of the boss was spot on.

My word that was amazing.

The fact you can't save mid mission really ruins most of the game (atleast for me)

I kind of like that aspect actually. Or at least I don't mind it in the least. Since missions are so bite-sized, it really feels like ghost hunting where you go out when you want to do something and then regroup with E. Gadd and save.

One player with the game can play with three players without the game, as long as everybody has a 3DS.

Taking my time with this. Done with the 2nd mission in the 2nd mansion, about 4 hours gameplay. The graphics are so good and the music is pwn. I still don't like how there's no CPP support though, not being able to rotate while vacuuming is awful.

I'm 7 hours in, done with the 1st mission on the 2nd mansion...

I agree that no CPP is annoying, but I got used to it.

A pivot and turn button would have been a simpler way of doing this.

I just got the game today and been having a lot of fun.

However I sucked up a plate (or it might have been the dustbin lid the ghost was holding) in the kitchen (of the first mansion) and I can't seem to drop it. I can't go through doors either. I haven't a clue what to do.

Has anyone come across this? How do I get rid of it?

Yeah I figured it out myself a little while after posting that. I feel a bit silly.

Although it's funny how the game tells you how to do everything but it never mentions blowing out.

Just defeated the first major boss, it was more difficult than I anticipated. It took a while to suss out the situation properly.

(Only thing I would say is that I miss the portrait ghosts. It's not so much that they're more interesting or creative than the regular ghosts, it's more that the portrait ghosts have an actual identity....whereas the ghosts in this game could be anyone. Still it's a minor niggle and I'm enjoying the game without them.)

I was afraid the vibe from the first game was going to be lost this time around but it's still very familiar to me in that regard.

The music is great too, I love the E. Gadd ringtone. He must get pretty annoyed because I can just sit there listening to it.

Anyone think the second boss was a lot easier than the first one? There wasn't as much thinking involved in it. It was still fun but after the first boss I thought I was going to be put through my paces again.

I think exactly the same. The first boss almost killed me (the part where you had to drag the thing really far and lots of small spiders came down), but the 2nd boss didn't even damage me. They were both fun though.

After 1 week of not visiting this thread, (due to playing LM: DM, or just busyness) and combing through the ladt 10 pages or so, I have this to say.

I'm about to go into battle with the boss of the clockwork mansion, and I've loved every minute of this game.

I do miss portrait ghosts, but where I am now, I don't know how well it would fit into this game. It kinda seems like it would be out of place.

Just finished the singleplayer story, and I only died died twice throughout the entire time. Once in the second mansion, where I had a golden bone so the Polterpup could revive me, and again during the final boss battle.

How many times have you died in singleplayer?

Another question: Wich ghost is your favorite? Mine is the Polterpup. It's so adorable!

Man I am really enjoying this game. It's nearly perfect. Even the controls managed to be spot on despite my skepticism (of course I never played the original so it fit naturally; those who are used to the orginal controls might feel slightly awkward). The only things that bothered me was that some of the rewards in the game feel lame (primarily the gems), as well as one or two bosses feeling lackluster. Other than that, the game doesn't cut corners, everything feels fully fleshed out, but DLC would be welcome.

Has anyone noticed that online players are really flaky when it comes to Rush mode?

The other modes you can have luck with but usually with rush mode there's at least one person with absolutely no sense of direction wandering at the other side of the map with the other three of us going "over here" on repeat at the hatch.

It's because there are thousands of little 6 year old jimmys who are either immature or too young to understand basic concepts. Personally I think the game should have just had everyone who made it on the platform survive and have everyone not on just die.

Well, I wouldn't actually eliminate them, considering that they could get infected with the reverse-virus thingy or something happens to them. I would say, anyone who doesn't make it to the platform wouldn't get any rewards or something like that, because basically kicking them out of the game because they didn't make it in time would be the equivalent of being kicked out of a MK7 match because you lost one race.

Just had a major bug in multiplayer...

We were supposed to use our dark-light on a pot to make it appear and release the ghosts inside, but for some reason we couldn't get it to appear no matter what...

I almost screamed after I got this game, it was amazobulous.

I spent 10 minutes trying to find the game, at first. Then I finally saw that miraculous case, with Luigi peeking at me carefully. Yes, me, and only me. Then I took the case quickly, a few people looked at me kind of angrily, and disapprovingly. I went to pay for it, but the security case was jammed somehow.

The guy on the counter, who I gave my money to, went to get a new game for me. Turns out he just destroyed the case with a sledgehammer, BUT this is the awesome part: He said that a few customers had asked to get the game too, but I got the only copy in the whole store. I was just seconds away of losing the game

Sorry, just had to tell this.

Finding all the gems can be pretty tricky, I still lack 3 in mansion 1. Appart from them it's 100% finished. Refuse to check a guide though.

This game is quite buggy though. 10 minutes after I started playing all sounds from luigi disappeared (but music and other sound effects still played), and now while playing, some things became invisible. The "vacuum meter", the torch's light, the "rainbow-light" and some other things. Then it suddenly came back. Weird.

Been playing the game non-stop since I got it. I'm currently on level 3 of the third mansion and I've collected all the gems and Boos up to this point.

Man, is this game masterful. Once you get the controls down, interacting with the environment is a blast. Sucking in tonnes of cash is pretty satisfying, although I wish there was more use for money after you get all the upgrades. Every room of every mansion seems to have its own 'Story' because of how detailed they are. There's always new ideas and new puzzles, keeping everything fresh and exciting. The graphics and the 3D glisten, the sound and music is incredibly atmospheric, the animation is top notch and the spooky/charming/comedic tone is a treat.

I urge everyone who has a 3DS to pick this game up. If you can find it that is; is this game selling really well or was it just not stocked well enough? I'm guessing the latter.

Took a liiittle while to get the hang of ghost catching. Otherwise, I agree with Zuper 100 percent.

I love the way the toads give you a high five whenever you solve a puzzle with them around. It's little things like this that are so great.

I haven't come across any major bugs. The only things of note is that there's a door that I can't get the toad through in the ice mansion....but I don't think I need to bring him through there so it's lucky. The only other noticeable thing is that in multiplayer when it says to catch all the ghosts sometimes it says floor clear but the bar still has some green in it.

You were never supposed to bring the toad there, you go there by yourself later.

Even still, if there's an unlocked door there I should be able to bring the toad through without the game freaking out. It doesn't matter if I don't need to bring him in there.

My favorite ghost has got to be the Greenies

Gotta love how they use everyday objects as weapons and fool around. They're cute!

Anyone else taking the game slow? I've unlocked the second mansion but I'm just taking my time and replaying the first mansion multiple times.

I want to search all the gems and all the Boos, discover stuff and mess around in multiplayer... Wait, there was an actual story mode? Gee, I need to try that.

I wish Nintendo foreshadowed the next 3D Mario game in this game and make King Boo said something like "I am going back to Bowser Jr to haunt Isle Delfino and steal all of the shine sprites again for him"

Lol, the tiki masks the ghosts wear in the final mansion are the tikis from Donkey Kong Country Returns.

Again:

1) Why help Bowser Jr specifically and not the real villain, Bowser himself?
2) Why would King Boo even do that? It makes no sense.

Currently on the 3rd mansion. I've been playing online mostly. I'm trying to complete the 25f in hard mode but: 1) People always disconnect, therefore makes it harder for my team to complete, 2) I can do the tower my self but just can't beat the final stage.

So I just finished the final boss, and watched the ending, with a total of 32 hours into the game.

My thoughts in the spoiler tag below, WARNING: IT'S A SPOILER TAG FOR A REASON

I love this game, right now it's my favorite 3DS title. I loved the ending as well. I'll eventually go back and get everything. I also enjoyed the multiplayer, my friend and I had a blast.

All the gems and boos will keep me busy for awhile, and it's fun to go back and explore the mansions and things you missed.

I must say, this has been by far the best 3DS game for me thus far. The game is outstanding. I don't normally do reviews, but I might for this one. I have found no flaws, and the game is just as good as the original.

One thing that I noticed with the game a lot, is how bad the 3D feature really is. This is one of the most innovative pieces of technology to be inserted into a gaming device. A plus to Nintendo for that. However, they failed on the insertion of it. You have to hold it a very delicate way to have a good picture, otherwise you see two of everything and it is very hard on the eyes. I don't want to go too off topic, this is nothing wrong with the game. They said "3D without glasses", but I would have preferred 3D with glasses. That way, if I wanted a 3D experience I would get the full experience. This way, you don't. Anyways, another topic for another day that I would love to discuss further. This game is awesome.

Today I must have had a poor wi-fi signal, or there were so many glitches in the online mode.

My team couldnt find the key in this room and we searched everywhere. My flash light wasn't working. No one could suck up that purple blob ghost ( We dazzled it with the dark light aswell!!!).

If you cannot find the key to a room it is sadly, in a LOCKED room and that is odd the creeper could not be sucked up

According to the map, the key was hidden in the room that everyone was in. Also these glitches only happen when I play the 25 floor modes. I experience no problems when I play the other modes ( floor 5 and 10).

The 3DS screen is designed for looking at it straight on.. if your even at a slight angle, things double up on themselves. I prefer the stereoscopic 3D like the 3S has now, at least you don't gotta look like a pratt with the glasses on

First of all : nice thread.

I don't have the game yet but I am going to buy it the fastest possible!

Something awesome about this game and one of the main reasons why I am going to buy it are the graphics. Graphics aren't the most important but Nintendo did a great job on this game!

I found out that you can play the ScareScraper by yourself. All you have to do is create a local game and start it, you don't need anyone to join.

Call me crazy, but I couldn't find a single thing in that article that said anything about him removing "portrait ghosts". The game probably didn't have Portrait Ghosts from the beginning and, instead, the team had an original group of bosses that Miyamoto didn't agree with. The bosses were changed, but what makes you think that the original batch was intended to be Portrait Ghosts? It simply said that he didn't like the bosses and made them design new ones.

Regardless, I can't believe people are still complaining that they got rid of Portrait Ghosts. I liked 'em too, but games change, and it seems to be a great game without them.

I think people should like some change, but the Portrait Ghosts gone is ok, because the game has enough puzzles without being too puzzling.

What was so hard about 1-4? Puzzle wise this game has been easy the entire time, only having problems because I didn't notice something like a bucket or an object I can vacuum.

Try completing a 25 floor Thrill Tower on expert mode .

Im finding some of the greenies with items (eg hockey sticks) annoying especially when there are lots of them. The puzzles are not that difficult tbh.

What is Thrill tower? And so what's actually the funniest thing about this game, I want to get it

Thrill Tower and ScareScraper are the same thing. Thrill Tower is the name of the multiplayer mode for Europe and Australia.

For me, this game never gave me a "Crush your 3DS" moment. All the puzzles are relatively easy, and as Banjo said, they're only hard if you miss something. Mario1992 meant the "ScareScraper," or so I think.

I don't have the game yet. Is the multiplayer harder than the singleplayer or also very easy?

In the European version its called Thrill Tower. I prefer if they called it ScareScraper though! It sounds so much better.

I am absolutely loving this game! I have yet to try the multiplayer, but the single player is a blast, the levels are expertly designed, and the bosses are awesome! Honestly, this is the best game on the 3DS so far, in my opinion. I'm a huge Pushmo/Crashmo fan, but I have to say, Luigi's Manson 2 sets the new standard for a 3DS game.

I finally bought my copy of Dark Moon and, to my surprise, I got the last copy in the store! It must be my lucky day. :D

So.. I'm learning the basics of Scarescraper, anybody got any tips? I seem to only find matches with people who a) don't do anything or b) disconnect half way through, or c) get in the way the whole time.

What is best for learning how to play? Hunter, Rush or the Pups?

The main thing is that you have to work as a team. Hunter is good if you want to practice catching multiple ghosts. I don't really like the rush mode, if one member doesn't make it to then yor whole team can't progress! The pups one is really fun.. It tests how well you can find things.

The more you practice, the better you get tbh. Don't get too stressed or annoyed if someone is catching most of the ghosts or if other members take your ghosts that you were trying to capture. Its a team game.

Thats the fun part of it. It's a team effort. I found some really good teams WW, but some not so great teams. I find the shorter the floors (5 - 10) are better, I tried three times to do 25F and two out of four people weren't helping.

Thanks for the tips ^^

I'm having the same problems! You need friends to really help you through the 25 floor modes.

The first Luigi's Mansion game is short (the Gamecube version), but this one is quite lengthy! I had the same doubts as you are having still, but ever since I got it (after the reviews I couldn't resist) I am so glad I did! One of the best games on the 3DS yet!

Not to mention that online mode is pretty fun too.

Plus theres a lot to do in the games, such as: collecting boo's, collecting ghosts, collecting gems and ranks.

I finished the second mansion earlier tonight and I'm up to C-2 now, I believe. I've clocked in just over five hours now and I just got the fourth upgrade. I can't wait to start messing around with the multiplayer!

Though, my game actually froze a few levels ago and I was wondering if something similar has happened to anybody else. I was absorbing one of those red brute ghosts and I pressed A at the exact second a regular green ghost hit me, and that seemed to freeze my game. I was then kicked back to my 3DS' home screen and my 3DS restarted. I've played through several levels since then and it hasn't happened again, so I guess it was just a strange occurrence.

Hmmm, yeah haven't had that happen yet. Actually, no bugs noticed so far. Been a great, clean game.

Pay attention to everything. With this game, anything goes. Really watch everything around you. Also, make sure you suck up everything in the entire room, or try to. That is really all you need to know. This game is full of puzzles and maze style rooms, where you have to figure out how to get through.

My only grime with this game that was holding me back getting it was the lifespan.. as you said the GC version was pretty short and simple, but now knowing this one is lengthier, definitely getting it!

It's a bug. I've had it happen once too, sound effects disappeared. I've also had layer bugs happen where certain things suddenly go invisible. Game can be pretty buggy.

I'm 100%ing my way through the game as I go through it so I'm taking it slow. Finished 1st mission in mansion 4 now, 20:30 of gameplay. I love the atmosphere in this mansion, but I knew I would. I love everything snow in video games.

I also every map in snow! My favorite map of BO2 (my favorite game) is Downhill, a snow map.

Errr, personally, I didn't really like the first boss. The ice boss was my favorite XD Every other boss is pretty lame though, I'd like to see the bosses Miyamoto banned...

I beat the third mansion earlier and I actually really liked that boss. More than the first two bosses, anyway. It wasn't much of a boss, really, but I did enjoy fighting all of those ghosts at once. I did think the second boss was pretty lame, though.

You found the one thing I actually dislike about the game, the saving. I do recommend this though. Rather than turn off your system during missions, just close your 3DS. I do that and leave it in my pocket. When you open it back up, you will be in the same exact spot. The only problem is, it will drain your battery more, but it will still last a whole day, so just make sure you charge your 3DS every night and you will be good to go. It works for me.

It isn't a huge deal, since the missions are generally short, but not being able to save is the difference between a 10/10 and a 9/10 for this game, in my opinion.

I beat it, Treacherous Manshun was probably the best one.

This game was an absolute masterpiece, nothing more to say about it this early in the morning...

Hmmm... Looking back on the amethists I missed... This might take awhile... Also the Boos can be pretty hard to find sometime, I've gotten all the ones for mansion 1#, and have two or three more to go in all other mansions. Looks like I'm going to be playing this game a lot in my trip to China.

I'm on the third mansion and loving it. This game is great! A fair deal of a different feeling from the first game but I still like it.

I just had a wonderful thought. Nintendo should remake Luigi's Mansion #1 for the Wii U. They could make it a first person-vacuumer! Or not... But either way, HD Luigi-ghost-sucking-awesomeness would be great.

It would be better if they let Next Level Games remake Luigi's Mansion 1 for the Wii U or 3DS.

Absolutely loving this game, I'm up to the 5th mansion now.

Is anyone else aiming to completely 100% everything? Some gems can be pretty tricky to find. I have every gem and Boo found + I have three ★'s on every mission on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th mansion now.

I definitely plan on getting my file to 100%, but I'm just playing through the game normally right now. I've been finding a lot of the crystals and Boos through regular exploration, but I'll go back later and clean up whatever I missed.

Though I'm loving the fifth mansion so far! I just finished the second mission for that mansion and I'm at about 11-12 hours of gameplay, but I haven't touched the multiplayer yet. I wanted to mostly focus on the story first.

And has anybody else noticed that the names of the mansions spell out ghost? That had to have been intentional:
Spoiler!

Yes! I want to do the same .

I have a question for you guys. I know it is early, but as well as the first game did and as much of a success as this one seems to be, do you think it is possible we will see another version on the 3DS? I would love that. This game is nearly perfect. What I love most is Luigi and all his actions and expressions. He is so comical. Gotta love Luigi.

Mr Trip, nice! Haha. I never noticed that. Awesome find.

I would love to get another 3DS game, but I would think that if they were to make another Luigi's Mansion, it would be on the Wii U. But that could take another 10-11 years. ;)

By the way, I just beat the game and I enjoyed every minute of it. It took me a little over 13 hours to beat the story itself, with no re-doing levels or multiplayer. I'll probably start going through again to get 3-stars on all the missions and find the gems/Boos that I've missed. And I have to say, I liked the ending. I couldn't help but smile. ^-^

I am getting there! Trying to finish up number four. Want to finish off the game by tomorrow some time. I should be able to, if I play for hours and hours :x. Yeah, it would probably come out on a home console. I am a bit biased though as I don't own a home console.

So many idiots online seem to confuse the word "Rush" with "Hunter". It's not hunter mode, you don't just run around capturing every ghost, you have to MAKE IT TO THE EXIT -.-

Victory is mine!!! The ending is awesome guys. Such a great game. My hands are still hurting from a certain... Level... I am sure you all know which level I am speaking of. I was about to snap my 3DS in two on that level. Anyways, an amazing game in my opinion. No complaints. Especially none with the ending.

Omg, I am sick of the guys in the multiplayer that do not use the keys on locked doors. There was a guy yesterday that had 2 keys, TWO KEYS!!! and was just roaming around till the time expired! He didn't use any of them. I yelled "hey" in front of the locked door, I chased him... nothing... There should be a way to drop the key not only from being hit so that those who know what to do to pick it up and continue...

You can actually steal the key from them if you run and bump into them.

I know but it is really hard and the lag doesn't help.
It is like the Mario kart 7 online multiplayer at the beginning. Laggy and annoying...

Best Mario Game ever. The portrait ghosts made the first game too hard for me.
Pros:
1. Difficulty is just right
2. No Portrait Ghosts
3. Awesome ghost designs
4. Mission system
5. Better Graphics.
6. Short levels instead of getting lost in one huge mansions
7. Multiple Mansions

I found it! My Target had 1 copy. The dude said I was lucky and that'd probably be it for 3 weeks. That makes me even more excited to finally play it. This and Gunman Clive I'm thinking should be good for my upcoming vacation/plane ride.

I finally got the game 2 days ago, and I've been loving every second of it. I'll post my thoughts after I'm done with it.

Really? I thought that boss battle was just really fun! I didn't have any trouble with it, but I could see how it could be difficult.

Errr, that wasn't hard for me at all. I quite enjoyed it, like the person above.

Are you talking about the normal boss of the Mine level or the one in the mission you get after finding all the boos?

The boss is not hard if you know the strategy, (I don't :P) but it was poorly executed and glitchy. It could have been much better somehow, just like the 2nd boss.

What do the special missions you unlock by catching all the boos contain?

I saw that you were on the topic of the bosses, which I would like to comment on. So far (I'm at GHOST/Secret Mine) only the first boss has been interesting, challenging and strategy-based. The second one was meh and the third one is not even a boss

Just beat the first boss, a little tricky but fun. This game is a lot better than I was expecting, I'm having a lot of fun with it.

So I just finished the story mode 100%, grabbing all gems, boos and 3-staring everything. Took me almost 31 hours, but...

Do the bosses get a lot trickier than the first, I'm kinda worried I'm gonna be on my flight and stuck somewhere with no way to figure it out lol. The first one took me a good 10 minutes to solve, made me feel past my prime to say the least.
