By the way, since I live where I live, I didn't get a Club Nintendo code. So if any European who doesn't use it could PM me, I'd be grateful. (That must be the right spelling.)

Added after 4 minutes:

I'm at the last Mansion/GHOST and I have to say, I love the way it's structured. The feeling of "final level"-ness present through most of it is pretty nice.

Although I would like to say, why was GHOST so short? only 3 missions? (excluding boss fight and Boo mission) disappointing.

I hated him through most of the game, so no Polterpup for me.

Innocent? It was a stupid pain in the butt of a dog. And Luigi sucks for always being so careless about the keys. Seeing him toss them around and you just know somebody would steal it, lol.

It was good the first time, but they should have invented something better for the second and third time.

I didn't like the last mansion that much... I was expecting the darkest and spookiest mansion of all (if you can say that the others were spooky...).
Instead I got a mish-mash of the other 4 mansions and it is also the smallest of all!

Still, I really liked the fact that there are 3 bosses (counting king Boo) and I enjoyed them all.
This is a contrast to the snow mansion which was much better structured but had by far the worst boss of the game.

Still I havent gathered all the boos (I think I have missed 2 of them) so I haven't finished the game completely.

It was a nice experience but it had a bit more potential. It did reach my expectation but it didn't exceed them.

I'm on the third mansion and personally, this game has exceeded my expectations in every way. It's my favorite game this year so far, over Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, etc. Call me crazy, I just love it. It's just a fresh, unique, charming experience. I never did play the original.

I feel the same way, but I also think the game exceeded the original. It was a lot more intense and the boss fights were much more interesting -- I laughed a lot more too.
Spoiler!

But I guess my opinion is an unpopular one... I thought the pups were cute and did not feel anything at him stealing my key really. I didn't see keys or parts as ultimate goals I guess.

Added after 3 Hours 55 minutes:

Well I just ended the game, awesome, my eyes were a little teary, it is a game that is not comparable to others because it starts a new master race, Luigis Mansion Master Race! It was very cool and it truly showed us who's the boss between the bros.!

Well, there were many points in the game where it was implied that there is a rivalry between the brothers and I thought it was cool.

That's exactly what I think. This game may have lacked a bit in story, but it was full of subtle messages and emotions that gave life to it!

Spoiler!

I may be overanalysing, but the developers tried to do it as subtle as possible. These are just my own thoughts on this awesome game.

I wish the game had communities... am I the only one who can rarely join a game without it vanishing or everyone leaving, and then once I do play I often cannot get to floor 10 before 1/2 or more have left?

It's like nobody has any patience. One person goes or it takes a couple minutes and everyone goes.

But it's a nice idea :3

I think the biggest problem is the fact that we have different time zones. Another problem I have is that I keep getting error 006-0612 every time I try to join someone's team, so I'd have to be the one who makes the team/Green Luigi every single time you guys wanna play with me.

I hate it because, if you mess up just once, the dog runs off and you have to go searching for him again. It was bad enough that you have to chase him 3 times in the story, so making a whole mode dedicated to it is horrible IMO.

My friend code is in my "About Me" section.

Cool I'll be setting another friendo to play with us, keep practicing we'll do enless and we'll get to floor 50 were no one ever has been before (if we don't get the glitch that disconnects us)

@Darkk I like that part the most because if you are not good enough to hold the dog it will just run away and that make it even challenger

If anyone wants to play, I'm available right now. However, the 006-0612 error might appear if I don't create the team/scarescrapper.

This game is great! I really feel immersed in these first party Nintendo titles because of the depth the 3d gives and all the attention to detail!

After playin a little further into the game I gotta san that this is a must have 3ds titles. Everything is smooth and plays well. And I actually prefer the stages format to that of the first. Great levels of replayability too, even without playin thrill towers yet! Great game!

I don't know but when I play I feel everything looks so perfect and it is so awesome tho I don't feel anything, not an emotion, not spookiness anything, I feel a lot of excitement while I was playing Uprising's campaign but in this game I feel like getting it complete is kind of a job (don't get me wrong I like its achivements) tho I feel a lot excited while playing on Scarescrapper

Same here, I am on the second mansion too.

Btw where can I find all the gems and Boos for B1 and B2?

I only found one gem under a staircase so far in B1.

The game itself was awesome though, and multiplayer is very fun

I am interested in this game as I immensely enjoyed the first, but I'm worried that the change from one giant mansion to several smaller ones will make it less appealing. Games like Metroid Prime Hunters and Corruption or Sticker Star lacked the open world of previous games in favor of smaller but numerous areas. This ultimately hurt the pacing and sense of exploration, as the small sizes were not as well laid out and repetition set in more easily. I have seen numerous complaints of repetition and pacing issues for this game, so I fear my worry could be justified.

The multiplayer also looks fun, but considering how far back Nintendo still is when it comes to basic online features(no voice chat again!?), I'm afraid it will be a temporary distraction and turn into a ghost town some months after release.

I'm currently half way through the second mansion myself, and have all but 1 of the gems from the first mansion, and only two boos to catch. I'm very very impressed with this game, and its definitely a must-buy! and so far, I've only had difficulty with one point in the game!

Never played the first Luigi's Mansion but what hurts the exploration in my eyes is that missions block off certain areas and lock doors even if you were able to go through them in a prior mission. So there's a pretty linear path to beating the missions and the game makes that clear on the map.

Repetition is there, definitely. Most of the missions have you completing simple objectives, usually fetching something that E. Gadd needs or that you need to open up more of the mansion. But ghosts keep stealing what you need too and so you have to chase them down pretty frequently.

I haven't tried the multiplayer or beaten the single player campaign yet because I stopped playing the game after the third mansion.

Well, I never played whatever was supposed to come before sticker star (paper mario?) But hunters and corruption were let downs because the exploration in prime was glorious.

The exploration in lm was... Passable. Its a good thing the original lm was so short, because it was a highly repetitive trip through very samey envirinments.

Dark moon craps on lm from space.

The portrait ghosts are the only thing the original has that I feel dark moon lacks. You get the distinct impression dm is trying to avoid the fact ghosts come from dead people.

However the massively improved enemy ai more than makes up for it, as the ghosts antics change with whatever they have access too. Ghosts can interact with anything luigi can interact with, and pick them up and use them as weapons or shields, or just a toy. Including toads. The normal ghosts in lm are worthless in comparison.

Dark moon has its own creepy moments, as far as creepy in lm has ever gone.

The physics applied to everything is extremely impressive, particularly considering its being done on an arm11.

And the level design is peerless. Absolutely fantastic. I was worried about mission based design, as i hate mission based design. But dm just gives an objective and lets you go 99% of the time. You are free to explore the entirety of a mansion in any given mission as your current upgrades allow.

Boss battles are fantastic, and its easily one of the most impressive looking games on the 3ds. Makes the first game look like a terd.

Its also the first 3ds game ive seen that uses the 3ds's tesselator.

I thought the first lm was fun, but nothing special, which is why i decided to download this one weeks after release because i was bored.

I actually regret downloading it. I should have bought a retail copy for case book and cartridge.

I actually found that visiting many mansions is a great move for this series - Each mansion is large enough to pose problems, but they also have theme-specific puzzles to that mansion which makes it more fun. I love that each mansion is themed, I really look forward to seeing the next few mansions, and I'm only on the 2nd! :P

And each mansion has many secret areas - Gem hunters galore

Polygon subdivision. Breaking up say, two large polygons that form a flat square, into thousands of polygons that can make a face.

Most devs use it purely for cosmetics, to give a low poly model a smooth high poly look without spending the time to actually model it so in depth.

Its one of the big fancy 'next gen' feature dx11era engines like crytech and ur4 is toting.

Nintendos been using it for animation and gameplay since game cube (ww water animation, most notably interaction with the boat.)

In luigis mansion 2 its used to morph a boss design and terrain.

I need 1 damn gem from the first mansion, and about 3 from the second. The gem hunting is really fun, same as the boo hunting, but damn can it get tedious

I was actually starting to hate the game because that gem never appered but I loved it again once I got it, I'm feeling like the first playthrough was boring because puzzles where to easy but with the Boo hunt things started getting a bit ingenious and now with Gem hunt it is like a bunch of puzzle thrown at your face and your brain is burning after every level you don't find a gem

*necroposting*

oh god, im really, really trying to like this game, but o god, that backtracking! i hate baktracking!...why do i have to be chasing the ghost each time i get a key/gear/whatever cause they split it in pieces to rooms and places i already went?

also those chapters are short as hell and you cant explore freely like in the first game...if you want to redo a chapter to get a jewel/boo, it all resets and you have to do the same thing again instead of focusing on a new goal.

and why does e. gadd have to call me each time i fulfill the silliest of the goals to tell me what to do next? like, i can figure things out on my own...

as i said, im really, really trying to like this game, i dont want to be disappointed by a 2st party again like i did with kiu and mk7...specially with a new zelda and smash bros coming :/

It was simply a cheap way to get in a Street Pass part of the game. If it didn't have SP, we wouldn't have Coin Rush. Without Coin Rush, there'd be NO reason to ever play it again.

Ok, thanks. I was expecting less than that. I already bought Mario Kart 7 instead of this, but I guess this will be one of my next month purchases then.
