the same thing happened in M&L: SuperStar Saga, Luigi had to travel alone to find a Mushroom to cure Mario from a bean curse, but he was too scared to do it. so what was needed to make Luigi brave enough to do it? I'm not gonna lie: I never played the first and was SERIOUSLY thinking of passing on this game(like after the E3 Trailer I'm like "looks nice, but no thank you"). After I watched the 14 min demo, it's safe to say I've changed my mind and have added this to my must buy list.

I really liked the creepy atmosphere in the original. It made the game so unique. I am worried that they are ditching the more creepy feeling of the original. I will buy it because I love Luigi. Let's be honest, we all played with luigi every chance we could in galaxy 1 and 2. He is more beloved by hardcore fans than mario himself. He deserves "Luigi's Mansion 3" on the wii u.

I hope you're right, but there are two things that seriously worry my about the LM2.
1. The ghosts are annoying. The ghost's from Luigi's mansion 1 at least made a sound that would frighten you a bit. Also the mansion was all twisted and truly seemed haunted. If you watch the 14 minute gameplay, it doesn't seem in the least bit creepy. The music is cheerful, luigi isn't jittering he's jumping up and down saying "Yah!" The main bad ghost doesn't look at least a little bit human at all. He is just a pink blob with a huge head that screams "MEMEMEMEMEM". The ghosts from the original were strangly human in a way that made you fear them. Also when you start to suck up ghosts, it sounds like the music from a level in galaxy, it is way to bouncy. The thing is, the atmosphere in the first one was special, and it was truly creepy. Everything was covered in dead thorny vines, and it was dark. This one does not look dark in the slightest. It looks, bland. I will buy it of course, because this game was such a pipe dream for a nintendo fan such as I. I just hope it proves me wrong. |

I'm with Mensrea on this.
The trailer might not be the best way to judge the game, but the demo certainly was. And from that, it's safe to assume they've almost completely dropped the chilling setting and humanoid ghosts in favor of a more typical Mario atmosphere. It really ruins what made the original game so charming. |

Everything you complained about is in luigis mansion 1. Luigi jumps up and says 'Yah!' when he clears a room of ghosts or agrees to help a toad. The ghost designs are hilariously cute caricatures, like something out of casper, the thing with the strangest creepiest almost human design was the professor, when you start to suck up ghosts you hear loud arcady chimes depicting how you are doing sucking up ghosts, the 'cheerful music' is the luigis mansion theme which, lol debuted in the first game. The ghosts made silly midi hehehe noises that weren't scary at all..... You are judging the entirety of the game off the first 15 minutes of a demo. Hell, the power hasn't even gone out yet. You know, the thing that let's you know you cleared a room, it brings the power back on. This would be the equivilant of you judging the original luigis mansion off a 15 minute clip ending with the completion of the training basement. There is nothing wrong with luigis mansion 2 in comparison to 1. You seem to be suffering an extremely bad case of 10 years older. Its like the gamer version of the seven year itch. |

Yes, the 3ds game plays a fast paced song when sucking up ghosts, though I find frantic a far better adjective than happy. The gcn original played loud obnoxious arcade chimes akin to a pinball machine while sucking up ghosts.... Yet you dont complain about those being out of place. And luigis mansion was all right but I was never a huge fan, I felt it was more a glorified tech demo. Its just you have EXTREMELY noticable double standards for these games to someone who has no attachment to them. |

I am not going to argue with you about this. We have different opinions. I think that Luigi's Mansion 2 looks to be taking a lot of the things I love about the original out. You don't. What else is there to say? I will still buy it, and I hope that you are right, but right now we can only judge the game by what we've seen.

My question is though is that bright and dark rooms were part of the gameplay, where in the bright areas, you were safe and could explore(except for boos), but dark is where ghosts would attack and you would have to be ready.
With the rooms light, how will that work? Are ghosts infinite now instead of once you got them all, they are gone, because if so then why couldnt the rooms just be dark instead of light? Oh and the only true way for them to jack this up is if they remove A.Boos. I loved searching around and fighting them. Perhaps more rewards for hunting them down would be great B.Boss ghosts. I do not mean the ghosts you only see one that actually is semi realistic and has a specific weakness. I mean the ghosts that teleport you to a wierd demention and you have to fight them. THOSE boss fights, I must see. Of course I want treasure to stay, but THOSE 2 I want to stay.

Literally, a screen pops up saying demo over and gives you a score. The lights go out for a few seconds after every lightning bolt, so you know they implemeted a light/dark system. Every game has an intro to go though before the game starts. Initial showfloor Demos are typically based off of modified versions of these. Things like exploration are taken out of these demos as they are too time consuming. Demos are about the gameplay. It is not surprising at all they lit the demo the way they did considering it was played in an expo filled with tons of people. Screenshots of the actual game show many of the same areas with lights out. |

But if you take a step back and look at the whole picture you can deduce the relation. In the demo you are only allowed to go certain ways, its how the demo is set up, You only have one key, once you use it your path is set. So its not like you are actually playing the game clearing each of the rooms to bring the lights on, you are being hurried through the rooms to the end so that the next guy in line can get on. So nothing collectible or story related is included, like portrait ghosts or whatever lm2 has as an equivilant. This brings us to another point about the lighting, finding where you are supposed to go. Every demo I've seen has guys spending 10 minutes stuck on trying to find the first key, which is in a chest blatantly out in the open covered with a sheet. Gah why do game journalists suck so bad? Anyways this is supposed to be a quick demo so the line will keep moving.... Can you imagine if these guys could only see by flashlight? Theyd be stuck FOREVER. E3 demos rarely if ever represent the final product beyond base mechanics. Which leaves us with some common sense deductions. We have screen caps from the actual game showing areas from the demo with lights out. Most likely the thunderstorm knocks out the power after the intro part of the game. Devils advocate: What if the screen caps juat happen to be during lightning bolt strikes and thats why the lights are off? That could be the case, we also know there are multiple mansions in this game. The first one could simply be a training mansion, the games tutorial, similar to the basement in lm1. |

I flew from the UK to New York to get my 'Cube' and it took me hours walking around Manhattan to find Luigis mansion (everywhere had sold out) but managed to locate 2 copies and it was worth it...loved that game and any type of sequel for it is long over due.

I always loved the "spooky adventure" feel that the original had. I hope they can retain that feel. I'm just not sure how they're going to do that with multiple mansions. It seems like you wouldn't get very connected to one house, it would just be the same thing over and over. But if they can make each mansion unique, rather then each having the same pattern, I think it will be great.

I will definitely be buying this, even if I don't get to beating the first Luigi's Mansion in time. I haven't played it in years, I own it but never got very far when I was younger and I wasn't a huge fan. Tbh I can't trust anything I thought 10 years ago so that's totally irrelevant to me.
How long does the first Luigi's Mansion take? I imagine it's not too long.

I think that it might fail because the game and the developer don't fit. It won't be the same great composer making the music either. If it gets reviewed well then I will purchase it. I loved LM1 and I really hope this does well, but I doubt it will.

SO excited for this game, particularly the return of E. Gadd and King Boo! They haven't been used much in the past few years, so it's good to see them again!
One minor complaint, though, is that most of the ghosts I've seen in this game don't look nearly as creative or interesting as they did in the original Luigi's Mansion, but I'm sure once we've seen more of them, it'll get better. |

If my message wasn't here I agree with that guy who said they were insulting Italians. But I'm Italian and I'm not fat and I'm not short and my familie is not fat and short too. I never noticed that before. That's messed up. Well you know what what goes around comes around. So basicly that got what was comeing to them because they lost a lot of money when the 3DS first came out. But then they got a lot back after the price drop. But! It's good someone made a game based ( kind of ) on Italians. Evan though it's kind of races if you consider that.

Toad follows you around, I'd like to see where that goes... And ghosts can apparently eat solid objects like keys. The trapped in the elevator part looks pretty scary... anyone who's been trapped on an elevator or has been to the "Tower of Terror" in Disney World knows that feeling. The game look so AWESOME! And i must say the detail they placed into the enviroment really makes the game stand out towards other games. It really looks and feels like a well done effort ( demo ). Cant wait to get my hands on it.

That demo with him playing it on a midnight purple 3ds reminded me of playing the original on my purple lunchbox gamecube. Pretty awesome.
I'm actually pretty worried about this game, I loved the original but this seems to be completely abandoning many of the aspects that made the original so good. 1. The atmosphere is not creepy at all. I know it's not Creeepy but the original had a distinct, creepy cool vibe. 2. Mansions don't have any life in them. The original had lots of ghosts that seemed to have personalities and the whole mansion seemed to come together and have a certain alive feeling to it. These ghosts are green sheet ghosts. Lame. That's it, I just want this to have a vibe like the original did. And man I don't like the new theme even a quarter as much.

The first game for the gamecube was really short, and there wasn't much to replay after you completed it ( pretty much nothing at all ). you could complete it in 3-6 hours easily. If this portable version is any shorter then that ( through not being a console title, which could effect the lengt through smaller budgets ) . I'm not going to risk it to be honest.

Yeah I heard that.
I definitely enjoyed it as a game, but I guess it wasn't really Kirby. Would've been interesting if it were a new IP and we got sequels though!

Buying this game day 1. Loved the first game. Still, I'm not sure how much better it will be: there doesn't seem to be many jewels or bills or things to interact with, quite a few of the rooms are lit despite having ghosts, and the ghosts look boring IMO. I hope we see more that proves those views wrong. The suits of armor look cool at least.
