I got my PSTV from Gamestop for $40 a few days ago, and I definitely think it's worth a purchase. I mean, yeah, there are some lame setbacks like needing to buy a memory card and controller separately, and of course incompatible games, but you're essentially getting a Vita that you play on your TV, and imo, that's a darn good price. With a sizable portion of the Vita library, the majority of the digital PSP library (but why the heck shouldn't EVERY PSP game be compatible, why can't I play Dracula X Chronicles???) and PSX games all playable, I still think it's pretty great value.

Even if a lot of the Vita library doesn't interest you, I'd say it's worth it just for PSP games, assuming you don't already own a PSP.

FYI there's a flash sale that's ending soon. Okami HD, Soul Sacrifice Delta. LBP Vita, etc are all less than $5.

Psp games look like garbage on the PSTV. There is no excuse for them not to update this thing to be compatible with more Vita games. The Vita is dead, they failed. Why not focus on recouping their losses and update/support the PSTV? They treat this thing like a bastard step-child.

Vita is far more successful than Playstation TV, and if you think Vita is dead, so is the Wii U.

Proof? I know more people with a PSTV than a Vita. It's a cheap alternative for those of us who don't want to waste money on a another handheld or junky PS3. The WiiU was dead before it was even released.

There is no proof since Sony doesn't release the PSTV sales, but if the vita subreddit is an indication Vita probably has 100x the user base of TV. It was also out longer so its more than a fair assumption.

Also Vita rocks, and so does PS3.

Certain games are great. The console itself is poorly made junk. No quality control with these machines anymore.

Uh, compared to what? Mine is flawless and mine is a launch console. I had 4 3DS's, every single one of them had loose hinges, and rubbing screens. Then my last Blue XL had a blown speaker, and my new XL's C-stick seems off in calibration tests (and for some reason there is no software to fix this). Not to mention at least if you do have a hardware issue with Vita, all your games are account bound so its not a huge pain to get it replaced.

Vita has absolutely fantastic quality, if you got a lemon I assure you that you're in the minority. Even the build quality just feels nice, though truthfully I haven't had any experience with the LCD Vita, only the OLED.

Shoulder buttons aren't that good; I have to really press them in and they wobble. And neither are the speakers (I use headphones) but otherwise, the physical build quality is very good. It froze more than once on me, though, and the "blue light of death" thing happened to me a couple times while playing Killzone Merc. Still easy fixes but I don't think my Vita is going to last as long as my other handhelds because of those software issues.

I still use my launch Vita from 2012. Might buy a Slim a few years down the road as a backup.

I'm talking about the PS3, a console, it's junk. I know too many people with ylods, and I won't even mention Microsofts POS that red-ringed on me.

Not sure what you're doing with your 3DS? I have 3, one of each model, no issues. Besides the c-stick sucking on the New model. A stiff nipple is not a replacement for a second slide pad....

I've never had any issues, and I love the Vita's speakers (New XL's are almost as good though). What specifically is the problem with the speakers? They go up really loud, and they sound great for games like Wipeout and Motorstorm.

Music sounds much better through my cheap pair of headphones than through the speakers. I never played on max volume, though.

And the PS3 Slim's build quality is good too. Mine's going fine after 5 years. L3 and R3 on the controller aren't always responsive for me but that's about it.

Well, if you have a good set of headphones I can imagine they'd beat out Vita's, but I think objectively for Vita's size it has great speakers.

I brought up Wipeout 2048 and Motorstorm RC specifically because those games have very good electronic music, borderline dubsteppy, but it sounded great on the Vita speakers. I'd recommend giving those a shot.

I have had numerous Nintendo and Sony handhelds and have not broken one yet. The build on both looks excellent.

Both companies make first class systems - OLED vs 3D - I just bought both and am happy.

Hopefully we'll get more great handhelds from both - time will tell.

It looks like the Vita is becoming history.

"Sony Computer Entertainment president Andrew House spoke at Investor Relations Day. He lumped both the Vita and the PS TV into the legacy category while discussing a write-off of hardware components. However, House maintains that Vita remains "strong and vibrant" in Asia, particularly Japan."

Source.

EDIT: Nevermind, it turns out by legacy platform, they meant only the first Vita model. Sorry for the misinformation.

Hey guys, how's it going? I'm looking on Ebay at the prices of Vitas and they have gone down considerably since the last time I checked (I think it's been over a year now). I just didn't feel like shelling out $200+ for a handheld with only a couple games I wanted. I think now would be the time to jump late on the train. I have some questions though, please be patient as I have no clue about this system. Have developers been regularily announcing new games for the system? Does the Vita still do the cross-play thing with PS4, and if so, is it offered with many games? I'd mainly be buying it to play my JRPGs that aren't on the 3DS. What are some other similar games to look into? The Tales series and FFX/X-2 are the obvious ones, hoping to also play the New Kingdom Hearts on the Vita when it comes out too. **** I really hope KH is playable on this thing. Anyways, any suggestions/help is appreciated.

Didn't see it mentioned in the thread, but for those into dungeon crawlers I've been checking Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy for a while now. It's supposed to be out now I guess?

Went ahead and bought Danganronpa 2 from the summer sale. It's crazy I have never bought a Vita game since the release of Helldivers back in March. Recently, I've been messing around on PS Now with Uncharted 3.

The only upcoming Vita games I'm highly interested in now are Persona 4 Dancing All Night, Severed, and Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel. Maybe Resident Evil, though that port is likely to suck.

Decided to replay Gods Eater Burst because of the God Eater anime and I'm getting Dangit Ronpaul Another Election in a few weeks. AND I'm getting the Steins;Gate Limited edition in a few days. Yup, it's a good time to be a Vita owner. *cries self to sleep*

Looking into getting the Metal Gear Solid collection and Resident Evil 2 in the near future. Are there any suggestions Vita owners would make for a person who enjoys third person games?

Unit 13 is pretty good for a 3rd person Vita game.

Ah, I forgot about Zero Escape 3. That's a big one.

Hopefully Tokyo Xanadu doesn't become yet another good Vita game in Japan that won't get localized.

So it turns out that Steins;Gate was delayed till the 31st and now i'm really bummed out. I was so looking forward to playing it this week. And now it's gonna drop right when I get Super Mario Maker and DangitRonPaul: Another Election. My cup overfloweth.

Could you rejog my memory...

Nevermind, I see now... Too bad I don't qualify for the Wallet option as I don't want to close my account. And all they are offering is the same stuff they offered in the Welcome Back Program. How did you get $25?

So they delayed Steins;Gate LE edition to like the 18th. At least it'll give me time to finish up DangitRonPaul tho.

There was some website that popped up months ago when the lawsuit was settled. You needed to put in one of the numbers found on the Vita so they could tell when it was bought. Gave my e-mail address and I think PSN account too.

Then a few days ago they e-mailed me the code I redeemed for $25.

I can't believe the PSV still doesn't have an official price drop yet.

Certified refurbished units from Sony are going for $150 on Amazon. Pretty sure they're leftover stock from the first version rather than refurbished systems.

On a random note, the Vita can last a really long time on sleep mode. I charge it up once a week then play a bit in between bus rides and it lasts me forever. Just another reason this underappreciated handheld was so great.

With Gravity Rush Remastered releasing tomorrow, I hope Sony continues other Vita series. Gravity Rush was always a console game at heart so it'll work well on the PS4. And Tearaway probably made the switch fine; I haven't played Unfolded yet.

Soul Sacrifice and Freedom Wars are very much handheld games, though, with their short mission structure. And in terms of scope, they pale in comparison to large games SCEJ publishes like Bloodborne. But they're really good games especially SS Delta; I want a sequel for that even though it probably won't happen.

I'm not sure if the U.S. uses Kijiji, but if you're a college student or live in a college town/city, just keep checking back and you will find a used one for cheap, 100%. I got mine for $100 from another student at my school, but I had to keep checking back for a few weeks before I found one for that cheap. Most were going for $120+ and I was not willing to pay any more than $100 (I only wanted the thing to play Digimon, lol).
