*SOME SPOILERS! WATCH OUT!*
Just watched the first episodes. Here are some of my thoughts: - The artwork in this show is ****ing great. Seriously, I was impressed with the high amount of detail in the sceneries. It was beautiful, especially the view shots of Republic City. Makes me think I'm looking at a theatrical animated film. - The animation is smooth and fluid. Looks better than the original Avatar. Pretty good - I'm liking the protagonist, Korra, so far. She is hilarious. Funny how completely cocky, energetic, and aggressive she can be, as opposed to Aang. - The show's humor is pretty decent so far. About on par with the original. - Korra's gigantic canine pet is adorable. - Interested in how she will develop her relationship with the Red Ferrets, being part of the team now duking out in tournament matches. - Absolutely loved the humourous facial expressions. Especially when Korra left Republic City free of charges from the damages, thanks to her master's rescue. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'll stop there. Anyways. I am really liking the show so far. I want to see more. Best animated show I've seen in a while. My sister will definitely like this. Added after 4 minutes: Quote:

The environments are very well done. I love how the backgrounds seem like paintings and the characters/objects are cartoonish. The bending effects don't look much better than the original though. I thought they were going to look more like the animations in the opening, but I guess that would put more strain on the creators. Overall, I love it, and I can't wait for dem Amon moments.

I love how in the original series, Aang was discovered as avatar do to some ancient monk stuff with aang and his childhood, here it's because Korra runs in screaming "I'm the avatar" while earth and firebending.

Okay im sorry if im being NO **** SHERLOCK right now but i think Republic City was modeled after New York City. That green statue of Aang in the harbor is like the Statue of Liberty and right behind that is Air Temple Island, which may be something like Ellis Island. The park where Korra meets the Vagabond is like Central Park. That giant bridge looks alot like brooklyn bridge if you ask me. Its a city with a lot of traffic. There are gangs and crime. And when you thinkk about Aang and Zuko wanted Republic City to be the heart of the new land. Whats the first city you think about when you hear the United States? Or maybe im just looking too deep into this

I've just recently watched the first two episodes and I really like it so far. Being a big fan of the first series I was a bit worried how this would turn out, as the Last Airbender set a very high standard in my opinion, but I don't think I needed to worry, I'm very impressed with those first two episodes and I can't wait to follow the rest of the series.

I wish I could rewatch the two episodes on my big HDTV on Saturday. Sadly, I have work during the times that it airs. Why did they choose to air it in the morning instead of the late evening? Like they would with every new 1 hour movie they make for the teen shows? Sigh.

Added after 7 minutes: Hmm anyone notice that Aang and Katara's kids are called Bumi(Aang's best friend prewar was Bumi) Keya(Katara's mother) Tenzin(IDK what the reference is). The first thing I thought when I first saw the show; Fable III. I'm seeing several similarities between the two. The obvious first one is the industrial revolution that's apparently occurred. The second is the diminished belief in will power/bending. The third is the Hero/Avatar thingy.
Love Korra's attitude. Though I'm having mixed feelings about the show. May just take a few more episodes to convince me that it'll live up to the the Avatar name.

As for my thoughts on this episode, it was excellent even though the pacing was a bit fast. The fight scenes are already on the level of quality that Avatar:TLA didn't have till season 3, give me a fire bender that can breakdance like Zuko and I'll be set. Now for my problems, I'm sad that lighting bending has become so common that they can use it to power the city(and still pay the workers crap as it seems). But as always a high quality episode this week.

I just watch it and man episode three was just great. I love the fight and the chi blocker remind you of Tai Lee and Amon for a villan he it better the Ozai. I want to know who Amon really is with out the mask and how he learn disable bending. So many question and yet no answer.

Truth be told, I think that Amon is Ozai. Why? Because Aang used that same technique to take away Ozais power (mentioned). My feeling is that Zuko let Ozai out to lead him to his mother (mother was briefly mentioned); Ozai then escaped and due to Aang taking away his fire energy slowed down his aging process and because the technique he learned how to use it himself. Now he made up a story so people believe he was never a bender and wears a mask to hide his familiar face.

On the theory of Amon being a second Avatar. When Aang died (first time) and the line passed to Amon, he would be a water bender because that was next in line, right? So when Aang died the next time, wouldn't the line then go to an earth bender instead of Korra? Or does it not work like that?

I'm new to the 3DS forums.. but guise.. You're talking about Avatar/Korra, I'm sooo in. Anywho, my theory for episode five:
Bryke are trolls who claim they like love triangles. The synopsis for episode 105 is the following: "Korra and her teammates struggle to work together after romantic rivalries shake their foundation." and "The Pro-Bending championships are about to start. However, differences between the Fire Ferrets threaten to end their championship bid." So to answer questions whether or not the romances will start this episode, I'm fairly certain. I don't think Makorra shippers will be too happy about it though, part of me feels like she's going to be rejected. I agree that Bolin might be there to witness the kiss though.. (Borra FTW) |

I personally think a prequel series would be best. I'd hate for a new series to get too modern. And a world that still has plenty of air benders would be awesome. And I really hope for more traveling in a new series. All the traveling was one of my favorite parts of the original series.

I'm down with just two seasons of Korra. It's good but I wouldn't want the creators to drag it out for longer than it was necessary.
I agree with Riku's idea of a prequel series. (Maybe one about the very first avatar.) Quote:

I'm cool with it being shorter than the original series and not dragging it out and ruining it, but 26 episodes total over 2 seasons seems rather too short to me. 2 seasons with 20 episodes each (40 total) would have been great IMO.
EDIT - And I'd be on board for a prequel series too, that'd be interesting.

Just checked, and yeah I was off with the daily viewers. Korra is doing better with an average of like 4 mil compared to iCarly's 3 mil.
Though you still have to consider that Korra is a FAR more expensive show to make, yet iCarly is doing nearly as well with a bad timeslot and costing almost nothing to produce. Korra is lucky that it even got two seasons considering those facts. Also, iCarly's highest numbers reached 9.9 million. Korra and The Last Airbender have never been remotely close to that statistic. |

And about the whole ICarly thing, It just blows my mind that ICarly gets more views than Korra. Most of the views are probably 6-11 year old girls. And in my opinion, Drake and Josh should still be on instead of ICarly.

I just thought of this too for an idea about another series. A spin-off where an avatar isn't the main character. Instead the main character should be Meelo and it should be about him hooking up with like pretty much every female ever.
