Also, if I can get a nice looking laptop that can play 99% of games at a 50 plus FR then I'm fine with it

Nice looking as in thin and light or what exactly?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Personaly I prioritize power over beauty and style and the price of the Razer is just insane.
Don't get me wrong it's a good performer but if I'm spending that can of dough on a laptop it has to last me a few years and be as future proof as possible.

Hey, that is your prerogative

I figured you had your reasons, I was just posting my opinion of the value. If you like the aesthetics and such of the Razer Blade, and are willing to pay a lot more for it, then that's cool, and Im sure RAZER appreciates that! Just not my cup of tea

You might want to look at this thread here:
Thin and Light 11-14 notebooks gaming worth compendium

But with power you sacrifice thin and add weight to keep all the high powered hardware cool.
Just saying it's usually one or the other when it comes to gaming laptops.

I just ran out of money to finish the system, so I had to sell one 680 ( I had 3 ) to get the motherboard.

Highly recommend Metro 2033 Last Light. Play on Ranger or Ranger Hardcore mode ONLY!

Especially enjoyable with a nice rig and phyix!

hey, I need a list of parts to make a computer that can play and record games. (I would try and look it up my self but I don't have experience in this so I would end up missing something)
(This is my steam account so you know what it should be able to play)

Price range? None of your games look very intensive.

well I'm planning on getting games like Skyrim, Witcher 2, and some games shown-off at E3. I'm not sure about price range, I'm mainly looking for part ideas then I will figure out what I'm actually willing to spend.

Well for budget I would personally recommend an i5, 16 gigs of at least pc1600 ram, and a decent video card like a gtx 670 or higher. Witcher 2 is a very pretty game and to max it out it is GPU intensive. Also a ssd for your OS is a must imo... at least 80 gb but personally I'd never go below 128 as they fill up fast.

I don't really know how specific you'd want me to be.

As specific as you can because I don't really know all the parts in general I need(aka what actually is needed for building any computer)

What you need:
CPU
GPU
Power Supply
Memory
Hard Drive(s)
Case
Optical Drive
Motherboard

Honestly I don't want to start linking parts without a budget. I will say that AMD has better value generally in GPU's and CPU's, but I'm not really familiar with AMD's products as I only work with, and own Intel and Nvidia products. The company I work for doesn't even carry any AMD CPU's.

1. Change the monitor to a 1080p monitor

2. I would add an SSD for the OS and games (if you can afford it)

3. You might want a bigger Power Supply, though I am not sure what all of that kit adds up to in case of watts.

4. It doesn't look like you have a Wireless card (just bringing it to your attention, unless you planned on connecting via cat5/6 already)

1.There are two 1080p monitors a 32" (which seems too big) and a 27" that costs way too much because it can go 3d. Would it be cheaper to just buy a monitor separate.
2.added one.
3.what I had is what it says is needed for what I selected but I bumped it up to 650 watts
4.Is a wireless card the same as a network card, if it is there's two options, Onboard LAN Network (Gb or 10/100) and Intel Pro 10/100/1000 Network Card

4. Im actually not sure. I would think that it would say 802.11 a/b/g/n somewhere, if it were a WiFi card.

1. Yeah, just buy separately then. Newegg is a great place!!!

EDIT: I just looked at ibuypower.com and saw what you were configuring... The LAN card is NOT a wireless card, neither of them. I mean its not a big deal if you can just plug in using Cat 5/6 but if you NEED/WANT wireless, you will have to buy the card separately.

EDIT #2: This is also selectable "23" LED TV 1920x1080 -- Sceptre E243BV-FHD " in the monitor portion of the configurator.

EDIT 3: Here are some Wireless LAN adapters
http://www.newegg.com/Wireless-Adapt...relessAdapters

The ones on the ibuypower configurator are NOT wireless, I checked.

Screen size depends on you. My laptop is a 17" and it works fine for me, but for a desktop I would get at least 20"

When I go back to college this fall I'll have 1000 for a pc. I want a laptop because I like the portability and move around a lot. Any recommendations for a laptop under 1000 to play Final Fantasy 14, Phantasy Star Online 2, and Guild Wars 2? I don't plan on blasting the highest graphics quality. As long as it's playable.

If you have an "N" router, make sure you buy a wireless adapter that utilizes N, or else you will be on the slower bands. You are going to want it to MATCH the fastest speed your router utilizes. What router do you have? Make and Model please...

well, there's a tp-link (don't know what model) over at where my dad works that sends out a signal then it's picked up by a Linksys (model WRT54G) then is send through a cord to an iogear gwu627 which sends out a different wireless conection. (it's really confusing)

Yeah, that is only G... but I meant to tell you to just buy an N wireless adapter anyway since it will be compatible will all of them. Or at least it should. That way, if your dad upgrades his old ass router with an N, you will be able to utilize the "faster" connection.

I get bluetooth / wireless lan adapters all the time at work, we throw them out. They are Intel and hook up to your motherboard via cord.

Cant really suggest any of them, as I have never used them. I would check some reviews on some of them if you are curious, but it shouldn't matter which one you buy, as long as you can connect.

Crap, should have waited. Recently bought it for $10. Played like 5 minutes and wasn't impressed.

It's not as good as all these PC die hards claim, but it's not bad and has its own set of strengths as well.

I'm still a MAG on PS3 fanboy probably for life.

Love me the Steam summer sale program but the imagery was a bit over the top.

I feel sorry for all 32-bit'ers, or those without DX11. This coming gen's not gonna be very lenient.

My PC highly surpasses the recommended requirements. I've done a major video card upgrade lately for the next gen games.

By that, I mean from a single GTX 680, to two GTX 780 SuperClocked in SLI.
That, and I already had my i7-3930k overclocked at 4.4 Ghz and my 16 GB of RAM.

I don't have that kind of money, but my system still meets recommended. All I have to do, if I really wanna blow through next gen, is upgrade my video card to at least a 7870 or so. I got the 16GB of RAM down.

Basically the same as my system, I'm about to upgrade to 780's as well ( from two 4GB 680's ).

If you have an NVidia GTX 600 or 700 series graphics card, you have to try ShadowPlay. It's freaking genius!

I'm still here. I never did upgrade to 780's but I think I will when 980 ti's come out.

Lately I've been playing BF4, even made a nice little montage . Using shadow play as mentioned above, in 1440p now ( so best viewed in 1440P ).

Still here as well, but I have nothing of importance to say

I mean, aside from Steam sales, Im really just playing my games. There hasn't really been any substantial news or anything to discuss...

Kind of related to PC a gaming: Im hoping Oculus VR has a tentative release date for CV1 that they will announce at CES.

I've wondered this for a while: Do you think SLI/Crossfire will be minimum required specs in the near future?

Nah, but for pushing games on the best monitor resolutions with the highest in game resolutions it will take more than one, already has been for awhile.

Well as sli and crossfire are only interesting if you want to push beyond the current op single gpu card performance wise.

This means a game will have to be launched that will at it's lowest setting require more performance then such card. This means that the game will most likely cost a ton of money to create, and that money needs to be earned back by hitting a broad market.

Basically those 2 don't get a long very well and this is what prevents that from happening.

Sure there are tech demo's, but nobody really buys cards for them.

Also sli/crossfire have another thing going against it, and that is support and stability.

If you want a stable solution, you are better of buying a higher single gpu solution then 2x low profile cards getting 1-2 more fps on performance for a little bit cheaper on the gpu department.

But the heat + motherboard + psu will all have to increase in quality / price in order to run it. Which makes this kinda a void point all together.

So for the budget market ( the biggest audience ) sli/crossfire isn't a interesting concept to chase.

I wouldn't be shocked if the main market hardly invests any money into the gpu's all together and just buy cheap budget cards that cost ~100 euro's.

It also helps that consoles are equiped with such ancient hardware these days, which pushes the bar even lower for most high budget games as they wan't them to be on as many platforms as possible unless they are heavily subsidized by a company.

Also another thing is, that high visual quality games will also demand a long time to develop which also will drop the demands on hardware down through natural progression.

Unless you are on purpose pushing out unoptimized junk ( skyrim ) just to make a point.
