Default Error 006-0612

When I go online on mario kart 7, i get onto the nintendo network but when I choose to go worldwide, it won't find an opponent and after a time it gives me the error code 006-0612. I have no trouble getting onte the internet browser or the E-shop. Does someone know what to do?!
I'm desperate

i dont have the game so dont go on what i say,

2. cant find any opponents

Hope that helps

Close your 3DS for like a minute then open it.. I had the same problem with Street Fighter once and that fixed it.

or turn it off then back on, i had a similar problem with my friends list,
i turn the wireless switch on the side off, turn off the 3ds, turned it back on (and Wireless switch)
then it worked!

It's just sucky luck. This seems to be a random problem, as I can't play live at all with f1, yet have no problem with Resi, Sonic and now MK7.

Nintendo does not do great online, and that's a sad fact. I hope you get lucky.

Are you sure it's not your connection?

If it was my connection why does it only frak up with certain games?

Sit in the same spot, some games work, some don't.

Tried F1 with 2 different wifi systems in 2 locations, and neither work. MK is fine.

What's kind of router do you have? is it a KPN Experia Box? because I used to have the exact same problem with my Mario Kart, I had to change my security settings to WPA2-PSK.

if that doesnt work then you have to "allow" it into your router and and set your 3DS's wifi setings manually.

I could connect to all other stuff on my 3DS but no online battles/races, and now it's all going smoothly :P

i've got the same problem of you guys..
but i'm not very expert with router settings. I've got a Belkin but it's the first time I have a problem. The browser and e-shop are ok, also my Wii is ok online.
StiX, can you help me to solve my problem?

you said to change the security settings to WPA2-PSK. But what kind of cryptography have I to choose? TKIP or AES?

Well, I also have a belkin router and it sure isn't my connection. I've heard that I should update my router but it won't work.(don't know how to update and it won't work via the manual)

Just go with basic WEP encryption on wifi passwords. WEP is compatible with all DS, DSi, & 3DS games.
In fact If you play any of the Pok?mon games, then WEP is the way to go.
It may be a bit confusing because it's looks like a random letter/number combo, but it works.
just create a custom WEP key here for on your router if you switch to wep.

WEP Key Generator
it's a browser script so no download

I'm having a similar problem first time I go to search it will find people then if I quit out and try again it doesn't find anyone and says communication error. So then I have to turn off the 3ds and back on. Only game I have had problems with so its something wrong with Mario Kart which Nintendo better fix because its getting ridiculous.

Except WEP is basically the unsafe and ****ty predecessor of WPA(2), and WPA2 is supposed to work for all 3DS games.

Yea, but some of those security types aren't compatible like with the Pok?mon games. I was giving a suggestion, to get around that, because the Pok?mon games are very picky on the wifi connections. And If it's a personal router, there isn't that much of a chance, someone is gonna crack your wifi security, lol.

have emailed Belkin to see if they have any suggestions.

I think the problem is only with Belkin. It's not a problem of protection because I tried also to make my wi-fi free of protection but the problem isn't solved.
Probably Belkin routers have problem with Nintendo Network, even if Browser and e-Shop work perfectly.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! IT WORKED FOR ME!

I've been searching for hours and hours on Google and Youtube with no luck untill I found your post! I simply changed the Security Mode for the wireless on my router to (WEP 64 bit) as you said and IT WORKED! I have just finished my first Mario Kart 7 online race!

I really hope it works for everybody..
because It worked for me like a charm!

It's very weird. I pick up the game yesterday and I got that error but today I've been able to play this morning and now without problems...

No idea what it's about but with luck they'll fix the issues once and for all.

It seems like the Security Mode for the wireless on my router doesn't have to be (WEP 64 bit) to make MK7 works online.. The thing is that whenever I put a password on the wireless that contains only numbers, MK7 online doesn't work and gives me an error! But when I tried to make the password contain a capital letter, a small letter and numbers (for example: Aa1234567) MK7 connects with no errors, and I play online with no problems! So it doesn't matter if my wireless Security Mode is (WEP 64 bit) or (WPA).. I just had to make the password as I said.

As strange as that sounds.. It did work for me! It might be a glitch in my router.. I don't know.. But it doesn't harm anyone to try it anyways!
I wrote this for whoever searched and tried everything without any good result.. because I searched A LOT and tried everything.. until I discovered this and wanted to share it with everyone..

I really hope it works for you!

All right...

I have this problem at my dad's. I've tried:

- Port Forwarding.
- Turning off firewall.
- Manual connection settings.
- Static IP.
- DMZ (but my router doesn't support it).
- Adding a custom setting for the firewall.

And like 100 more "fixes". I've google'd it for 13,5 hours without any progress. When I last tried port forwarding some TCP ports I got into a game with one person. Then 4 other joined but then I got disconnected and now I've been getting the error code 006-0612 for the last 4 hours. I have absolutely NO idea of what I have to do in order for this insanity to work.

Anybody knows?

My router is Thomson tg789vn.

Help would be very appreciated since I'm tired of the 13.5 hour long process...
