Have you tried the Dragon Quest Heroes/Monsters games?
Also, Anno 1701: Dawn of Discovery?
Might as well try the new Pokemon game, Pokemon Conquest.

Bear in mind though, these are all DS titles, and lengthy ones.

I'm looking into Advance Wars Dual Strike, not sure if i'll like it though. Does anyone know of a game where you build a city and you have to defend it from invaders. Kind of like Tower defense mixed in with city building. Thanks for the help.

Pac Man championship edition dx. Get it, just get it. I was never a huge fan of pacman myself, but this is crazy good. One of the best arcade games I've ever played.

Also Gotham city imposters is pretty fun. If your looking for a cheap shooter, and you like batman, go for it.

I guess I've been finding myself really interested in tower defense games. I wanted to know if anyone has heard of a game where you build like your own city and then you have to protect it. I know people mention Lock's Quest but I wanted to have more control over the building aspect.

Question in any of the Total War games can you build your empire like build buildings and create it and then go to war? I'm looking for a game that's kind of like this. Literally Build a city or empire and then fight

Thank you very much for your question. Time for a little lesson on Total War. XD

Total War is the ultimate strategy game. When playing a campaign you have to manage your whole empire on turn based tactical map. You build barracks, stables, palaces, walls, mines, ports, taverns and many more. From the map you also raise your armies, which are consisted of different units depending on the nation you are playing. Buildings and armies also vary from game to game depending on the era the game is based on. For example Rome Total War is based around 300BC so you won't be seeing any fancy cavalry or cannons, while Medieval & Medieval II are based on the Middle ages so warfare is fought mostly on horse(full-plate armored knights etc.). While the map is turn based all battles (except naval for the first games in the series) are fought on real time strategy map. There you deploy your troops and fight it out with the enemy for supremacy. Total War is a realistic game, so archers have limited ammo, troops have morale and if it breaks weaver and run away, stamina and ranks.
A couple gameplay vids to get what I mean.

If you decide to play a Total War game I'd advice you to try Rome as it's considered to be one of the best RTS games of all time or check what games there are in the series(ignore the first two though) and play the one based on the era you like.

I'm not even sorry for the long post! XD
I'm still looking into the game I'm still a bit confused by it since I'm very new to the game. Have you heard about The Settlers 7? I think that maybe the type of game I'm looking for. Are all the Total War game fought on a map or can you actually build stuff on an actual 3D environment? I guess that's what I want to know. I'm looking for like a Sims game where you build on a 3D landscape and then defend your city. I'm sure there's a game out there. Sorry for all the questions.

You only build on the tactical map. Only battles are on a 3d environment. Also, I did a search, and it turns out the only total war game available on Mac is Rome. I highly recommend Rome Total War Gold Edition, as it includes Barbarian invasion and Alexander which add one campaign each. Rome is set in the rise of the roman empire, Barbarian invasion is set at the fall of Rome by the barbarians and Alexander let's you fight Alexander The Great's campaign in Persia. It also has many mods like Medieval Rome which adds a whole new map that features nearly all of the world and is set in the Middle Ages.
About Settlers, I've never played any of the games in that series.

Thanks a lot, I'm still looking into a lot of games, but I'm not sure I just want to build on a map seems a bit boring to me. I just don't want to waste my money on something as building on a flat map. I want something were you manage a city on a 3D environment and your protect your city and invade others. If anyone can help me or send me to the right direction would really appreciate it. I suppose I'm looking for a City Building/ Tower Defense game. I'm not sure I'm liking the turn based tactics gameplay. I played Ghost Recon Shadow Wars for the 3DS and while I slightly enjoyed it, it was my first play on a turn based strategy and it pretty much bored me after and hour.

Yeah, I'm not sure how ud get the game as i got it years and years ago on disc (we are talking at least a decade and a half) and I'm sure there is an online/mac/linux version. It's such a classic!

Added after 2 minutes:

AND LOOK WHAT I JUST FOUND

a DS port of the original game by the original devs!

I did a search for RTS games for Mac and honestly, I can find more RTS games to play on my 4 year old netbook than on a Mac. I can't play the latest RTS games on my netbook but it runs Rome Total War, Starcraft, Warcraft III, AoE I & II etc.

Any version of AoE III is worse than AoE II in my opinion. AoE III is just a bit too easy and unrealistic.

I was doing some research and I also heard that AoE III wasn't as good as II. I suppose I'm looking for a realtime strategy, tower defense type of game. It would be nice to sort of create and manage buildings on a 3D environment. I'm not sure why many developers aren't creating these types of games. I know the Settlers 7 does this sort of, but I've heard some bad things about the game and it's a bit cartoonish at times.

What are the specs of your PC(not the Mac)? Most likely it will be able to run classics like AoE II. If you give me its specs I'll be able to tell what games it can run.

Well I don't really access to a PC, I own a MAC and my home computer is an XP and I might have access to Wndows Vista they all run pretty slow. Which is why I love my macbook. I haven't been able to find a game and I've done a lot of research. I've thought of Age of Empires III, The Settlers 7, Civilization V, Empire Total War so far. I kind of like the political aspect about it as well. I just wish you could manage buildings and take over other territory and I'm hearing that Age of Empires kind of goes down this route.

A PC that can run WinXP can certainly run AoE II. Out of those games you are considering I suggest you don't get AoE III and out of the rest Total War is most likely better than civilization. They both share the same turn based campaign gameplay with the exception that in Total War you can play all battles in real-time 3D environment. So you should choose between Settlers 7 and Empire Total War. I can't say anything about Settlers as I haven't even watched a gameplay video from it. Also I haven't played Civilization but when I was looking for a RTS I researched the series quite a bit and decided on Total War.

Just wondering what's wrong with AoE III? I kind of find it neat since it has the 3D environments. Also have you played Empire Total War?

Well I tried a demo for AoE III and thought the graphics were poor and I'm not even sure what I was doing. The controls were bad and I was confused doing the tutorial. I guess I'm setting my sights to Empire Total War or Rome Total War. I'm leaning more toward Empire at this point.

I haven't played Empire Total War but gameplay hasn't changed much since Rome. The only difference is the naval battles Empire. AoE III isn't really bad but the problem is that it's less realistic than its predecessors. In AoE III resources are gathered by foragers and go into your stockpile whithout them doing anything while in AoE I & II your workers have to take them to a granary or tent(depending on the resource) and can carry a limited amount at a time. Also there are more units and upgrades in AoE II than in III. And of course the whole major city thing is a joke...
No matter what though the most strategic game series HAS to be Total War. It takes RTS games to a whole new level. Huge map to conquer and expand your empire and battles with thousands of soldiers on each side. Also everything matters. Altitude, wind, rain, morale, fatigue etc. The AI is quite clever and can be quite challenging. There have been battles in Rome where I was forced to charge or change ground because of the AI's maneuvers.

I'm debating on getting Persona 2 on my Vita. Many of Atlus' games on the PSN, including the persona games, are 50% off this month, making Persona 2 only cost $15.

I loved P3P, and I can't wait for P4G. But I've heard that P1 and P2 are really hard to get in to if you played P3 and P4 first. That and the battles don't look appealing to me, and the lack of s-link is a let down. The s-link was one reason why I loved P3P so much.

But the music in P2 from what I've heard on youtube is really good, and people say it has the best story in the series.

So I'm debating on it. Would any of you guys suggest Persona 2?

I'm still on the search for a good game. So I looked into many genre's and what's closer to my budget. I'm really liking tower defense strategy games. I think I'm gonna go ahead and get Lock's Quest. Has anyone played Dungeon Defenders? I know they have it on Steam and XBLA. Btw does anyone know of any good tower defense game with a good strategy in it? There's a lot of them out there and most of them suck!

Plants vs. Zombies and Ninjatown are by far the best. Most of them aren't really good. II heard Dungeon Defenders was really good. It merges RPG and Tower Defense pretty well. I'm looking into this game.

Technically Dillon's Western is a Tower Defense. I also believe League of Legends is but I'm unsure if it's playable on your PCs.

XP is kinda vague. My parents' XP has 256MB RAM and has a 1.4GHz Celeron single core. xD

Windows XP is one of the best PC operating system for the past 10 or so years. Also, if you want to play some older games/classics the best system to do it is Windows XP. Most classics have no problem running on XP with some exceptions of course like System Shock 2.

How is Assassin's Creed I-Revelations? I want to get Assassin's Creed III because it looks so good. Should I play the other console games?

I'd recommend playing 2, simply because it's the best in the series. The other ones are pretty good, too, but 2 is just ****ing awesome.

Which should I get? MGS 4 on PS3 or Peace walker on PS Vita? And why.

1 was pretty much just a concept. It isn't too amazingly important to the story of the series, and it starts the series off. There are alot of annoying things about the game that were fixed in AC2, such as having to travel the country-side for 20 minutes every time you go to a new city. That was annoying.

But 2 is where the gameplay and story really pick up and become fantastic. Easily the best of the series.

Brotherhood's story picks up right after 2 and the gameplay is pretty similar. My only problem with Brotherhood was that it was all in one city. I liked the ability to go to several cities in 1 and 2, because it keeps the game pretty fresh. Well, that and I wanted to try to get the platinum trophy but since a bunch of the trophies were in multiplayer, I couldnt.

Revelation's story is pretty much "Desmond is in a coma, where's the apple of eden? We were pretty damn sure we knew where it was in brotherhood, but we know for sure now. Desmond wakes up." If you play the things that are in first person though, you get some insight on Desmond's childhood and what not. The game was much shorter than the other AC games. 1 took about 18 hours to beat, 2 and brotherhood took me about 25-30 hours to beat, revelations took 9 hours to beat. I'd say it's way too short and its story doesn't really contribute to anything unless you are a fan of the Altair and Ezio story arcs. Another thing I wasn't too fond of with Revelations was that it was mainly just one city, and getting the best armor was far too easy.

I play the series for Desmond, so Revelations was somewhat a let down in the story aspect, but was still a fun game none the less.

But AC3 looks very promising. Definitely looking forward to a new assassin, and playing as someone other than Ezio.

I don't know if I want to try Liberation or not. I'm not fond of the main character's design(I'm fine with her ethnicity, I just vastly prefer the hooded assassin garb), and the game will have absolutely nothing to do with Desmond, which is the storyline that I play the games for. It's just the gameplay that makes me want to play it. The gameplay of the AC games is fantastic, and I'd really like another good game on my Vita.

I suggest you read a couple reviews on the games from sites like Gamespot(I reccomend this one) or IGN and decide for yourself.

If you like Metroid Fusion advance, then yes, I strongly recommend it.
It's basically a copy of Fusion but with (obviously) better graphics. Way, better graphics. It's got a very lot of cut scenes in it, which if you like and care about Metroid games, can be emotional, especially near the end.

Have you played Dillion's Rolling Western? I heard it was decent, but I haven't really looked into it.

I reccomend " Who's That Flying?!". It's on Steam (PC) and a PS Mini ( So it can be played on PS3, PSP and PSVita). It's a sideways space shooter and has a story with humor thrown in to it. It turns out it's not if the enemies hit you or not, you are trying to save a city and any enemies that pass by you lower the cities health, lose all the cities health and you lose. The gameplay like most space shooters, is very addicting. The Steam version is on sale for $2.03 until July 22nd 2012 so it's even more worth it at that price. It's normal Steam price is $5, don't know how much it is on PSN though. The people who made this also made the game " Monsters ( Probably) Stole My Princess", another great game.

My brother got brotherhood in order to wait for AC3 yesterday. You only have one city to play in, but he said you have to look for more ways to play in another city ( I think? ). Trying to get all the trophies so far, but his way of being 'skilled' at multiplayer is clicking a bunch of buttons and running left and right so quickly.

So yeah, looking forward to the launch of AC3...

How is the game starship defense? It's currently up on CN for 150 and i'm wondering if its worth picking up. I generally like tower defense games, but it doesnt really look amazing.

You should pick up Skyrim or Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning if you havent played them yet.

Some people, me included, can't have both. I can purchase a Vita around Christmas but throughout the year I won't ever have enough money to get games for both consoles.

:O
I consider myself to have not much money for games. I can't buy games all year round, but I can get a few titles I really like and can play for a long time.

Alright, feeling like a kid on my birthday. It was yesterday, anyways. I'm thinking about getting KI:U, Pkmin 2 for the Wii, and Planet Crashers on Thursday (I think it's coming to NA?) I have not played KI, but ya'll seem to enjoy it. I played the original Pikmin, but not 2. Planet Crashers I know very little about. It looks kind of groovy.

Here is my question: Should I wait for The Last Story NA release? I'm still working on Xenoblade and am far from the end. Your thoughts?

It helps a little if you play BW I first since BW II is a sequel. It's not entirely necessary but mainly your decision. If you finish BW I then you can use the Memory Link in BW II to transfer items you have and also unlock battles and FLASHBACKS that tell of events that happened during BW I.

BW II is amazing and has a unique story. The game is very long so you won't get bored easily! ALSO, the music is amazing!!

Alright, I need the forum's opinion. My sister is looking for a new game to buy. Has to be 40 bucks at the most. Systems she has at her disposal include: the Vita, 3DS, PS3, and Wii. As for preference, she has been known to enjoy games ranging from CoD and Uncharted to stuff like the Sims and those facebook games. S'go!

If she likes Uncharted, she should check out Enslaved. It has performance issues, though. Maybe look into some PSN games? Dyad's pretty cool.

Default Any game like Fable III where you can play as a ruler?

I really wish there were more games where you can be an adventuring ruler as in Fable III and make moral or immoral decision.

I have Fable III on PC and while it is good, it is somewhat disappointing (not deathly disappointing like Diablo III (You just lost a valuable customer, Blizzard!)), though.

I wonder if there are indie games that are like Fable, where I can be a benevolent ruler with a family that every decent NPC loves?

Can you guys help me out?

How about Little King's Story? It's for the Wii and you get to play as a king.

It's old but how about Black and White 2? You get to play as a god, have a giant animal as an pet/avatar and can do whatever you like with your worshiper...turn them into your pet's food for example. It's for PC btw.

Have Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World The Game yet? It's a 2D beat em up like Battletoads or Double Dragon. It has local multiplayer only ( give it that retro feel). While it does have some minor nitpick issues it's a must have game. On PS3, plus there's additional DLC.

Go with Fire Red or Leaf Green. These two games are remakes of the first ever pokemon games and are in my opinion the best. It is a complete remake of the first games meaning nice and colorful graphics, addition of mecanics featured in other GBA pokemon games(EVs, double battles) and adds the seven islands, a new map not featured in the original games.

Should I buy The world ends with you? I'm a big fan of RPGs, but from what I hear, the battle system in this game is a little...... Different. Is it a good different? Or a bad different? Is it worth 20 dolla?

Good different, proto. I liked the battle system so much I actually beat the game in less than a week. It's definitely worth it. Protip: The game is hard on your touch screen. Play on a system with screen protectors or one you don't care about.\

I need some help now. DQ IX or Ghost Trick?

I personally like links awakening better, but pushmo has better replay value, and just about as many player puzzles as you could ever want

Half Life And Half Life 2. Bought the Valve complete pack in the steam summer sale and just beat Half Life 1 the other night. For its age, its held up really well and its amazingly fun. Just started HL2 and it seems just as awesome so far.

Hmmm... I have a few suggestions. I'd try the GTA series and Red Dead Redemption(Revolver isn't open world). Other games with huge replay value are most strategy games. For example in Total War each campaign is different. Also most RTS games have an online multiplayer mode which adds to the raplay value.

What do you guys think about Pokemon Conquest?? I was thinking of getting it or one of the Resident Evil games for the 3DS. I'm leaning more to Pokemon Conquest as there's strategy involved. Not sure yet.

Default Monster hunter portable 3rd HD Ps3 or Unite?

Im kind of stuck between importing MHP3rdHD remake on the ps3 or just getting monster hunter freedom unite. Im in need of some new monster hunter and i missed these two games, i already pretty much completed everything to do in tri. The japanese language barrier wont be a problem on the ps3 version due to the amount of guides online. Im just worried about how long people will be playing these games online for.

Freedom Unite has a huge amount of content. Like damn. And it's pretty much the MH game that has the god like tutorial quest dojo. You can literally know absolutely nothing about MH and once you get done with all the tutorial stages, you'll be like "oh hell yeah I got dis ****!"

But honestly if you can:

GET BOTH

That is simply because of the amount of North Americans that play the series.

There are so many goddamn tutorials I get scared and don't even want to play anymore.

It's totally awesome! So far, I'm loving it. Nobunaga's Ambition is one of my favorite franchises, and so hearing about a Pokemon crossover was like a twisted dream-come-true. Buy it before the Downloadable Episodes are gone.

Default Pokemon - Where to start?

I've never played a Pokemon game in my life (besides Pokemon Stadium). What game should I start out with?

Any of the main games. They all have a different story, and they all have the same kind of gameplay, except in different maps. The main difference, thought, are the Pokemons themselves.

If you want to see the most Pokemons as possible, jump on Black/White (2). That generation is the most talked on 3DS Forums, since it's the most recent. Also, the ones on the DS have online play.

You can also start with the classic roots, and get Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow on the Game Boy.

Otherwise, each of the main games is similar to each other.

Personally I would recommend Pokemon Heartgold or Soulsilver, but I think it would be best for you to start with Pokemon Black or White. (the first games, not the sequels)

I'm currently trying to decide if i want to get a Vita. The only reason i am even interested in a Vita is for Persona 4 Golden. Other than Persona 4, i might play Disgaea 3.

Are the "good" games that the Vita currently has released?

I finally found this thread :P

Okay so I'm a little confused of what game I should get next.
There are many good games coming in the future, but right now I have almost nothing to play.
Well, I have Borderlands 2 and Resident Evil 6, but I want something else.

My list of games I have:
Borderlands 2 (Finished)
Resident Evil 6 (Almost finished)
Saints Row 3 (100% cleared)
Final Fantasy 13 (Not finished)
Fallout New Vegas (Finished)

Oh and yeah, I'm getting New Super Mario Bros 2 next month.

Upcoming games that are interesting:
Hitman Absolution
Monster Hunter Tri 3DS
Monster Hunter 4
Ace Attorney 5
Kingdom Hearts HD Collection 1.5

Those games are a must buy, but it will take time until their release.
So anyone have any suggestions?
I play on 3DS and Xbox 360.

Almost any genre or any game suits me.
Except FPS games or sports.

...have you seen Dishonored?

I love Kingdom Hearts, and one of the games I don't have is Re: Chain of Memories. Is it a good Kingdom Hearts game? Should I buy it? Or should I not even bother. Just looking for some advice!

I CANNOT wait for the Kingdom Hearts HD collection! I'm dying to see what the handheld games will look like on a bigger screen. (and in HD)

I got it.
+ The story and gameplay are really great (like, this is the most important part)
+ Runs very smoothly
- Controls are outdated (it takes time to get used to)
- Muddy visuals, not sharp but it's okay

It's not suited for you if you don't like long cutscenes, if you don't like stealth, patience, basically 'waiting'.

They are awesome games if you do.

Only worth it if you don't have the PS2/Wii version, otherwise passable.

I need a cheap PC FPS that runs well on this craptop (can you run it sucks):

AMD Athlon 2 X2 P320 CPU (clocked at 2.1 GHz)
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 GPU, latest pixel shaders etc.
4 GB DDR3 RAM

I was thinking about CounterStrike GO/Source or COD 4. Source seems to run well but from YouTube videos the game seems to have really crappy sound, which I hate. However, GO may be a bit too intensive for my PC and do people still play COD 4?
Any other suggestions?

Got a PS3 on black friday. Never owned an HD console and I want the must-haves for this generation. I'm down for just about any genre and want something lengthy. The games I already have are uncharted 1+2, infamous 1+2, and Red dead redemption.

Smile Should I get these games for Christmas?

Here are the games I want for Christmas:

1. Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
2. Super Smash Bros. 4
3. The next Zelda 3DS

I'm just going to get the money for these games so that whenever they come out I can get them. Any other games that I should get?
(For the 3DS). I like action, adventure, platforming, and games with online (especially if it has download play). Please no shooting games, FPS games, or TDS games what-so-ever.

These are the games I already have:

1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
2. Kid Icarus: Uprising
3. Star Fox 64 3D
4. Super Mario 3D Land
5. Mario Kart 7
6. New Super Mario Bros. 2
7. Mario Tennis Open
8. Pilotwings Resort
9. LEGO The Lord of the Rings
10. LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7
11. Paper Mario: Sticker Star

Thank you,

Angry 3ds games and stuff

Does anyone know what games that I should get? The only thing I know is that Nintendo needs to make more 3ds games quick if they want to sell more. I'm so bored with it. The only good games are on the eshop. And those get boring. Uhhhhh so annoying not knowing what to do with a system. I love it but there are barley any good games that last long and are challengeing. I have RE: R and RE M, M.3D.L, Pilots, mario tennis, mario kart 7, snake eater, Zelda, adventure time, heros if ruin, mario 64, mario vs donkey kong mini land, partners in time, rly them heaven, yoshis island, Pokemon soul silver, and Pokemon diomand, and wario ware DIY

Eh?..... You sound like a kid who just got a dollar and doesn't know what to spend it on at the candy store. And mostly because you think all the candy wrappers look 'boring'.

My advice: sell your 3DS and buy a book.

Depends on what you want from a RPG. If you want something more gameplay oriented, there's stuff like the Phantasy Star games, Half-Minute Hero, Oath in Felghana, Knights in the Nightmare, and Valkyria Chronicles 2. If you want something story or character driven, there's FF Tactics and Tactics Ogre, Trails in the Sky, and Lunar. There's also PS1 RPGs like Xenogears, Vagrant Story, and the Parasite Eve games.

Question Which games to get for Christmas/birthday

My Birthday, and x-mas is around the same time, and I can choose 2 more games to get. I was thinking about The Last Story or Xenoblade Chronicles, but i don't know what one i should get.

I was reading some reviews, and they both look like amazing games.
What do you guys recommend?

I could get both if i put back something on my list.

Xenoblade Chronicles.
Spoiler!

The Last Story: Limited Edition.

I've heard very good things about Xenoblade.
I think it has a gorgeous overworld.

Can't say much about Last Story.

For one thing, this should be in the Game Recommendations(general gaming edition) thread. I've heard some great things about Xenoblade, and even I want to play it. Heard little of The Last Story though.

Phantasy Star and Ys grabbed my intention the most out of all those. Would I need to play the past games to understand the story or is each one standalone?

Standalone story for Ys, not standalone side characters, though, but neither are all that important. I never payed attention to Phantasy Star's story. If you prefer action RPGs, Type-0 is supposed to have one of the better battle systems for a RPG (Crisis Core's is decent too), The Third Birthday's is pretty good but the camera and story are wacky, and Birth by Sleep is fun to play but not fun to pay attention too so don't. You might want to check out the Star Ocean games to; Second Evolution is supposedly the best in the series.

I only played the second one and it's fun to play but the story and characters were disappointing for a superhero game. If you only want a sandbox to mess around in, I'd go with Just Cause 2 instead. It's on sale for $10 on Square's store right now. SQUARE ENIX Online Store - PlayStation 3

Question Monster Hunter Games

Hi there
i haven't played any MH games ever but i am looking forward to the new one for the 3ds, but i want to experience all the games so i've got a question: which games should i get?
i don't know if there are remakes or expansions or else and i dont want to play a game then start another and realize it's the same with a few new features..
(the console is not relevant for this, i just want to know which games i should buy/play to experience the whole series)

so i hope you understand what i want to know, sorry for my bad english, i'm not a native englishspeaker ;-)

So you want to try a Monster Hunter game before getting 3U but you want to avoid the ones which are basicaly the same as 3U but with more/less feature?

Try Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (PSP) then.

There is no need to experience the whole series. Monster Hunter Freedom Unite will do (Monster Hunter Tri on Wii is very similar to 3U).

As the above have said, Freedom Unite is the only way to go. It's a fantastic game and easily one of the best portable games of last generation, if not of all generations.

Could anyone recommend me some good games on the Steam platform for ?20 or less. Also, does anyone know when the next Steam sale is on.

I don't mind which game you recommend to me. It would also be liked if it would be playable in windowed mode as well.

I think the BioShock and GTA games are pretty cheap now. They're awesome.

Also, the Binding of Isaac, Cave Story+, Bastion....

Neither. There are many games for the DS and 3DS that are exponentially better than both of them.

While it's a port of an classic (Mortal Kombat Ultimate), it's still quite enjoyable.

Especially with a friend.

Go for Mortal Kombat then. It's a port of a port of a port but it should be decent.

Ulty Mortal Kombat is the superior choice.

You should try searching for games in any store that sells used ones. You'll probably find some decent ones for real cheap.

it seems freind ship saved me.the owner of the local game traders is freinds with my mom.he gave us a special deal.i got jaws ultimate predator3d,battle of giants dinosaurs 3d,ultimate mortal kombat ds,resident evil revalations, and aliens:coloniol marines ds for 40$!Thank you Jeff!

Added after 39 minutes:

jaws is the only one im allowed to play untill xmas.and i have to say its a pretty decent game.its probbably better than the wii version.i read about the wii T-rated version and they said its was ridiculous.they said there is almost no blood, you fight giant undersea robots, undersea t-rex,and try to stop the evil scheme of a corrupt corporate compony owner.i was thinking 3 letters.
W.T.F.
but thankfully the 3ds version is nothing like that.PRAISE THE LORD(or whoever you worship(i guess science counts as what you can thank(saw that on south park.they worshiped science) ) )!

Dark souls might seem out of place for this but the bosses are hard, (but really fun) there is a leveling system, you can play with other people online to help you with bosses are areas. (not really companions though) The game is really an adventure. After ~ 7 hrs it is hard to stop playing. It isn't as hard as people say it is, it just requires walkthroughs if you get stuck.

Dragon Age has companions and leveling (I sadly didn't play it but my sister was addicted to it)
The Elder Scrolls - you should know about this series
Uncharted - an adventure; third person shooter, Lora-Croft-esque platforming fun game. A tad repetitive though

Wouldn't recommend Uncharted. It's nothing like an old-school adventure game and gets beaten by Tomb Raider in almost every aspect.

I agree on Demon and Dark Souls, though.

Default Ever 17?

Aye guys, I am currently playing VLR for 3DS and I have read many comparisons to Ever 17 on other forums. I loved 999 and I am loving VLR so far, these games as well as the Ace Attorney series and Juniper's Knot (I know all of you have some sort of idevice and this is a MUST download, it's free and it's a beautiful story) have gotten me into the visual novel genre.

Yesterday I was finally able to "find" a good English copy of Ever 17, and I have heard only good things about this game. I am about an hour and a half in though, and it really hasn't intrigued me yet. The game seems to have pacing issues and I was wondering if anyone here has tried it. Is Coco's path the only good path? Do I really need to play the others to enjoy her path? I love reading and I don't mind reading a bunch of filler if it becomes worthwhile in the end. I love character development, sci-fi, and there is nothing I love more than plot twists! So does this game get better and is it worth the 50 or so hours of reading?

Also, if anyone has any recommendations of other good visual novels, please, please post them! Thanks all!

My local GameStop has a few copies of Metroid Prime for cheap. I've heard it's a great game, but I'm not 100% sure. Can't go wrong with it at less than $5, but still. Should I get the game?

I second this!
Also, get any of the others if you can. All of those cheap sellers selling MP Trilogy for fortunes when you can get all three separately for about $25.

I need to know the answer ASAP.

I might go back to Target store tonight.

My mom bought me some Wii U games with "Buy 2 Games Get 1 Free" Deal.

New Super Mario Bros. U, Call of Duty: Black OPS II, and "free game" Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition

Right now, I would hopefully to trade BOPS II and AC:AE back for...

The games I am interested in... but I do not know if it is worth it.

Rayman Legends, Assassin Creed III, and ZombiU?

It didn't get awful review ratings... and Scribblenauts (the WiiU version) got worse reviews.

Should I get the PSP or DS version of Knights in the Nightmare? It seems like it would be more playable on DS, let me know!

The PSP version has better graphics, sound, it has slightly more content (Yggdra's route), I preferred the control scheme (it's like moving the blue pointer in P3P), and it's easier to pay attention to one screen than two. The only downside is that there's some occasional lag during cutscenes. You can also find a better deal on the PSP version - the digital copy is only $15.

Thanks I think I will pick up the PSP version! A gamestop near me has a complete physical copy for $10 so i'm gonna try to get that one.
How did you like the game itself? I know the gameplay is hard to describe, but is there memorable characters and a good plot?

I loved it (I did buy 3 versions of it...) and think it's easily the most unique handheld game to come out last gen but it's definitely not for everyone. The gameplay is a grid-based RTS x bullet hell that's poorly explained in the tutorials but it works so goddamn well when it clicks. Most characters you'll forget about because there are so many of them but the main characters are memorable.

I thought the plot was really interesting and I liked how they would switch between story scenes that happened in the past as well as those in the game's present. But there's a ton of text and no voice acting so expect to read. I want to say a third, maybe even a half of my first playthrough was just reading text. The atmosphere and the art style was spot on too; makes me wish Gungnir was less on the campy side.

That sounds amazing! I usually don't play RTS games, but I think I could get into this one. Thanks for all the info

anyone have the Cave yet on Wii U and can let me know if there is local multiplayer? I've got conflicting reports. Also, if so, is it wiimote only or nunchuck as well?

Thanks friends.

Default Banjo or Xenoblade

I want to get Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, and Xenoblade Chronicles and I'm wondering what I should get first Banjo or Xenoblade, I'm sure I'll enjoy all of them but which do you think is better.

Get Banjoblade. It combines the best of both worlds!

Added after 5 minutes:

Just get the Banjo games for now, cause Xenoblade's gonna take you some time.

Get Xenoblade before it is gone in any Gamestop store.

Don't worry about Banjo right now.

So, The Sly Collection or COD: Black Ops 1? I'm going to get both down the road but which one should I get first?

I want to get some new games for my PSP as I haven't done that in a long time. So far, I've been recommended Valkyria Chronicles II and I think I'll like it, but the thing is I haven't played the first one. Will that hinder my understanding of the story in the second game?

Any recoomendations for Action/RPGs are welcome.

Trails in the Sky (JRPG)
Tactics Ogre (SRPG)
YS SEVEN (JARPG)
Persona 3 Portable (JRPG)
God of War (Action)

It spoils some stuff from the first and you won't recognize every character but you can understand the story just fine.

Ys Oath in Felghana and 7, Crisis Core, Half-Minute Hero, BbS, Dissidia, and Type-0 if you want to import. They're fun to play. Also, Valkyria Chronicles is more of a SRPG.

I know that, but I've played several strategy games and turn based RPG so I don't think I'll mind this combination.

I can't import/buy online except for using prepaid cards so it'll most likely be a PS Store purchase or from a local retailer if I'm lucky enough to find the game I want.

Truth is I've never played any Final Fantasy game as I'm kinda a new gamer. What is a good place to start in the series (I noticed some of the early FF are on the PS Store)

I'm not sure how balanced FF4 The Complete Collection is but 4 is the best starting spot.

Thank you very much for your help! I'll get my memory stick then and download Valkyria Chronicles II and Final Fantasy IV.

Well, it's time to gather a list of DS titles I should get. Hoping you guys can help out with this.

Here's a list of what I have currently:

Spoiler!

And here's a list of games I'm already going to make efforts to get in the future.
Spoiler!

I would prefer no Final Fantasy or Mario titles, just as a final criteria markdown. Suggestions would be great.

Golden sun perhaps? you may also consider animal crossing or harvest moon if you enjoy those types of games.

Don't play games is my Recommendation. They are a monumental waste of time.

Go out Kiss that special someone, write that book, go get that promotion.

One day you'll be playing games, and the next day you'll be dying alone.

Either one or the other, an impossible choice for any sane being.

Nope, if you ever play a game in your life, you will end up dying in a puddle of your own piss, alone.

Anyone that's played Rayman Origins on the 3DS want to give me a verdict on whether I should buy it or not? The demo was really good in my opinion, just want to see if it's consistent..

No. It is a shoddy port. If you have no choice but to get it on the 3ds, then go ahead, but your WAAAAAYYY better off getting it on a console.

Don't make the same mistake I did

Yep, the pc, 360, ps3 or vita versions are all excellent. The 3ds release is rather horrid.

Alright, cool. I'll skip it.

I think in the back of my mind I knew that it was bad, I just needed someone else to reassure me. xD

Get Trauma Center 2. It should be pretty cheap now and Rayman isn't coming until September.

Exclamation What should I buy?

Should I buy Ni No Kuni for PS3, or Paper Mario Sticker Star for 3DS?
I tried the demo for Ni No Kuni and it's really cool... but i dont know about getting Ni No Kuni because the gameplay sucks and it should'ave been a movie.
Please no trolling!

The demo doesn't really portray the combat very well. Get Ni No Kuni, games like this don't come around often, unless you just don't like JRPG's. If the rave reviews haven't convinced you though, don't know what will.

Nevermind. I had the choice between a Wii U Deluxe and Ni No Kuni + BO2 Season Pass.
I chose Wii U

Dishonored, really a gem. I'm going through it for a third time, just realizing how much I love this game. It's pretty cheap now, I highly recommend you pick it up.

Can I ask for a console rec in this thread? If so:

In the next few days (after my eBay auctions end) I will hopefully have enough money to purchase either the PS Vita OR a Wii U. I tend to use handhelds a lot more than I do a home console, simply because my TV is not huge and I don't have anywhere nearby to sit comfortably (my old XBox 360 was hard to play as the controller didn't have a long enough range to reach from my bed to the console, for example). PS Vita currently has more games that I'd want to play (having not owned a PSP for a long time, and selling that for a DS. Yeah, that long ago), but the Wii U seems to show more promise. I also REALLY want to check out Miiverse!! But there are only one or two games that appeal to me currently (awaiting Pikmin!), and obviously it is more expensive. Is there much available on the eShop yet? I also like the fact that some games can be played on the controller, which I believe has a pretty long range? I don't really have anyone to play local multiplayer with, so that isn't a focus for me.
So yeah, does anyone have an opinion either way? And for the Vita, 3G or not? And Wii U, premium or standard?

Thank you!

Well...I'd personally say Vita for now, but wait for the price cut that may be coming rather soon. Get the Wii U near November or so.

Thanks. Is there likely to be a price cut in the UK/EU? I know there was one in Japan, hadn't heard anything else. I wasn't actually planning on getting one new anyway, but maybe if they come down enough I should wait and get a shiny new one. Cheers.

if there is a grainger games near you (its mostly in the north GG i think...), brand new vitas are ?188, or ?140 preowned

if not you're more likely to be paying ?200+ new, or ?160 preowned if there are no GG's near you

oh, and 3G or not, imo i'd go with wifi
i if play online i'll usually just do it at home, plus i wouldnt want to pay like ?40 a month or whatever for extra internet that i get already at home

I'd go wifi Vita and Wii U premium. Also, PS Plus will really help out initially with the Vita if you have it. But fyi, two of the Vita's best games (Wipeout 2048 and Lumines Electric Symphony) are leaving EU's plus soon.

Geez, is that what the contract is for the 3G?! I was definitely leaning towards the WiFi anyway, but that definitely sealed that deal! Sadly I am way, way south, so I have never even heard of Grainger Games. I've been looking on eBay and ~?150 seems to be the going rate. Trying to locate one with a larger memory card, as those things are expensive!
Hmm I may have to hurry up then, Lumines is one of the games I really want. How exactly does PS Plus work, I guess you get to keep the game til you cancel? Is it worth it in the long run, or does it work out cheaper/better to actually buy the games outright?
Leaning towards the Vita now. I think I ought to wait til more games come out for the Wii U. I'm an RPG girl, and there are depressingly few on Wii U at the moment, whereas at least there are some old PSP ones I can play on Vita.

Thank you, guys!

the 3g is practically the same as it is on smart phones i would say
and i can give you the site if that helps, dont know if you can order online and it ships anywhere or whatever
Playstation Vita Console Wifi (PS Vita) | Grainger Games
they should try and go national like game

im thinking about getting one too, so im more than likely going to get it from there

Yup but if you resubscribe you get access to the games you downloaded again. Not sure what all of the EU games were but for the US when they first put Plus on the Vita, they already had over $100 worth of Vita games (and 12 PS3 games too) available. I think it's pretty good value for the money if you don't mind resubbing and are good at beating games in a timely manner.

And Wipeout's getting off the list tomorrow and Lumines is coming off on the 20th. If you have a PS3, you can download them now.

Ah cheers for the dates, that helps a lot! Not too bothered about Wipeout, but I want Lumines, so I will make sure to try and get a Vita by then. I sadly don't have a PS3, so can't grab them now. Thanks

I always feel loyal to Game because the people who work in my local one are really nice and helpful, and I know them quite well as I go in (too) often. But they are a lot more expensive than other places usually. Now I'm just going to have to play the waiting game!
Thanks again.

Sony just gave me $10 for no reason, so I need recommendations. Any PS3, PSN, PSV, PSP, PS1, or PS2 game $9.99 or under that is on the PS store. RPGs are good ?

I think Valkyria Chronicles 2 can be transferred from the PS3 to the Vita and that its price is down to $10. If you like SRPGs, I'd buy that.

Other than that, Xenogears, Alundra, God Hand, Odin Sphere, Vagrant Story, Half-Minute Hero, Yggdra Union, various FF games, Parasite Eve, etc.

Chrono Trigger or Chrono Cross.

If you get Chrono Cross...play it on your Vita/PSP. It looks awful on an HDTV. :I

Default Pokemon newbie after about 15 years :/

Hi I haven't played a pokemon game since I was about 8 on my friends gameboy advance, and was just wondering whether it was worth getting one for my 3ds. So first of all, which is the best one out there, and should I hold out for pokemon x and y rather than getting an older one? Are people still playing the ds versions to play online with? Thanks. If you only plan on getting one game, I'd hold out until X and Y are released. Black and White (2) have almost run their course, and it's better to wait for the new games and all their accompanying events and as yet unknown features that will last you a good few years, than to buy a current game and regret it later. My two cents.

Honestly, get Black/White 2 in order to catch up with the series. It'll help you enjoy the games and learn some of your preferred pokemon. If you still enjoy the series after playing this game, get X/Y and join the party that will be inevitable!

Yeah, if you're looking for the biggest "jump" since the last time you've played, I can safely say that Pokemon X/Y will be the biggest improvement. B2W2 are definitely the best in the series in terms of depth and replay value, but you might as well wait for X and Y.

You could probably wait until X and Y are released later this year, but if you absolutely must play a Pok?mon game right now, I'd suggest going with either White 2 or Black 2. It's easily the game with the most in-game content and it was able to keep me busy for over 130 hours. It could definitely help to get you back into the swing of things before the new games are released.

Though I'd definitely recommend getting X and Y once they're released. Those games are looking fantastic so far and I'm sure the online feature will be much improved over past titles. I never liked the way the DS handled the internet.

Gravity Rush and P4G are a must and either is good for a first buy. The choice is yours.

Gravity Rush first, definitely.
Unique, beautiful Vita game that takes advantage of the system's gyroscope pretty well.

I think LittleBigPlanet would make a pretty good first game, since it uses a little of everything the Vita has to offer. It can definitely help to introduce you to using the touchscreen and the rear touchpad.

Persona 4 Golden is also a really good game and it's rather lengthy (about 60 hours for the first playthrough), which is always good to have in a first game. You would have just bought a new console, after all, so you might be a bit low on cash for a little while, and having a game that could keep you busy for a month or two wouldn't be a bad idea.

I would say that if you have the money, you should buy some PS Plus. It's only about $17 for three months and there's a handful of good games you can download, including Uncharted and Gravity Rush.

I would not get Rabbids Land.

I've heard that was the worst one of the whole series.

I hear the the non-PS360 versions of Fifa 13 is just a repackaged Fifa 12, Wii U version included.

Most Wanted U has this going on

And it's supposedly the best console version.

Wait until the holiday season... There are really no games worth having right now. Nintendo knows this.

Lego City Undercover might be a worthy addition. It is certainly held in higher regard than that Rabbids game.

Or get the PC version. It has far better and more content to my knowledge and it will run on pretty much anything. If you have a PC from the last decade Plants vs Zombies will most likely run on it.

I would say Samurai Warriors, but I haven't played either of them, so I wouldn't know, But Samurai Warriors does contain three seemingly solid games.

Well, a friend and I have a video game all-nighter planned in two weeks and I'm looking for a good co-op PS3 game that can be played split-screen. I'm buying Animal Crossing that same day, so I'm trying to only spend around $25 and it obviously needs to be a game that can be fun for several hours. Any suggestions?

I bought Borderlands the last time we wanted to have an all-nighter and that was fun, but I wouldn't want to replay that. We already have Black Ops 2 so we can do some multiplayer there, but I don't think I could play that all night.

I need some help as well. I'm looking for a PSP action RPG game. Real-Time combat is a must here. If there are no action RPGs like that then an adventure game will suffice I guess. If it's available on the PS Store it'd be a great help

Uncharted 2 or 3, Borderlands 2 and some off the top off my head.
