The latest animated film I've seen is The Illusionist:
![]() I like the art style but the film itself is definitely not for everyone. It has little to no dialogue and the story itself is very slow-paced. If you're a film or animation fan, I'd definitely recommend it. |

I'll merge them as being dups
and you can't stop me. Also, Kin, how would you rank The Illusionist compared to other films you seen? Like, did you love it the whole way through or did it not live up to expectations? It's been sitting on my "watch this eventually" list. |

I never even saw Cars 2, nor did I care to. Brave, on the other hands, is totally different. It looks great. Cars 2 was just fan-service for kids and merchandise, but this one seems more original and different, if not a response to "How to Train a Dragon."

Bump.
I've seen two animated films so far this year: Pirates! Band of Misfits! (aka The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists) was pretty good. It had all the quirky fun comedy that I expected from an Aardman film. Madagascar 3D: Europe's Most Wanted (My little brother wanted to go see it so I got the fun job of taking him). UGH. Mediocre and unfunny in every way. I think I chuckled once during the whole course of the film. Anyway, BRAVE is coming out in 11 days, who's going to go see it? |

most disney films (but not the princessey prince charming themed ones). i do like the spoof versions like tangled and enchanted though.
i dont understand why they dont use the graphics pixar use and put them in the games they make.

I still think Brave has the worst marketing out of every Pixar film to date.
The american trailers were horrible and barely showed anything outside the first 20 minutes. They didn't even show the witch and she's supposed to be the central point of the story. |

I wasn't expecting a ground-breaking genre redefining movie when I initially heard about it. Pixar flat out stated they wanted to create a traditional fairy tale. Ice Age 3 was my favorite in the series due to Simon Pegg's character, Buck. THe fact that he's not in it kind of kills the sequel for me. Madagascar 3 looks like a generic family movie sequel that has very little to do with the original movie. If I can find it for cheap when it comes out on DVD, I might get it, but other than that, I'm not interested.

Eh,bugs life wasn't that good,I don't really like pixar movies, like at all, there might be a few funny parts, but otherwise,I don't care, dream works is just turning into the same thing,it's very rare for a new movie that gets really popular for a long time, and then gets a good sequel,I like animated movies that are for both adults and kids, mainly just funny and not lame,ah,like Shrek, now thats a good one,the second one was also really, good, but I can't say that for the rest, the 3rd one had some funny parts, but I hate the new babies

On another note, 2 movies coming out have me excited! Monsters University looks to be a prequel to Monsters Inc, probably my favorite Pixar movie of all time. The second really caught me off guard and looks promising - Wreck-it-Ralph! http://disney.go.com/wreck-it-ralph/..._upcoming_Intl The trailer was hilarious and I thought it was neat to see some characters from Sonic, Street Fighter, Pac-Man and even Q-Bert in the movie. |

I can never ever get enough of Spirited Away.
I refuse to watch Disney's "recreations" of Ghibli films. I mean it's awesome that they are dubbing them and getting them out to a wider audience, but I severely dislike how it seems as if they are claiming the work for themselves and marketing them as new. The biggest peeve for me is Disney claiming that Ponyo was inspired by their adaptation of The Little Mermaid which is absolutely not true.

Yeah, another Kickstarter project, but I feel that this one is actually quite worth while.
StoryCorps is this group (not sure exactly what KIND of group) of people that record stories about people's lives and put their stories to animation. Most of the are quite heart-felt, particularly some of the recent videos about families effected by 9/11. Here are some of my personal favorites: Anyway, point is, they are going to create a half-hour special set to air on PBS 2013, but they need a little help: StoryCorps' Animation Special by StoryCorps — Kickstarter Their goal is $25,000; there are only 19 days to go and they're only up to just over $5,000. If you can, could anyone please donate to this cause? I'd back it myself, but I'm flat broke... ![]() |

A series of children's books, being made into a Dreamworks movie this year.
Written by William Joyce, writer/production designer from such movies/TV shows as Meet the Robinsons, Robots, and Rolie Polie Olie, it's basically the Avengers meets childhood icons. Specifically, characters like the Man in the Moon, the Tooth Fairy, Mother Goose, Jack Frost, the Sandman, the Easter Bunny, and to top it all off, Santa Claus, form a team to combat the Nightmare King and the forces of evil. From what I've heard, there are 2 picture books and 2 novels in the series, with a third novel coming out this October. As for the Dreamworks movie, it looks like it's only going to include St. Nick, the Easter Rabbit, the Tooth Fairy, and the Sandman, and will revolve around Jack Frost's recruitment into the team. Now, we all know Dreamworks' tendencies towards sequelitis and milking franchises to death, but honestly, this premise is perfect franchise material. I seriously hope this does well, I'd LOVE to see more movies based on this stuff! Hopefully, the would-be sequel will include the Man in the Moon and Mother Goose... One last thing I wanted to mention... The main antagonist of the series, the Nightmare King... his name is "Pitch". Why is that a big deal? Well... Yeah... ...Ugh...
Alright, so it's like this. We all know about The Hub, right? The relatively new TV channel made in a joint venture between the Discovery Channel and Hasbro, essentially replacing Discovery Kids. Most people know it as the channel that airs My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, which really needs no introduction at this point. What I find interesting, though, is that most people seem only interested in the channel in regards of that one specific show, even though there are plenty of other shows, and not just re-runs of Batman: The Animated Series and Fraggle Rock. Shows made by Hasbro, such as Transformers Prime, G.I. Joe: Renegades, Pound Puppies, and Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot. And I'm probably only of those people who isn't interested any of Hasbro's other shows... Well, that's not true, I've been meaning to watch Transformers Prime, but I've just never found the time. As for the others, well... G.I. Joe Renegades, I MIGHT check out, but Transformers Prime has a higher priority for me, and I can only watch so many shows (I'm also currently watching Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, Revolution, and other miscellaneous TV shows I've recorded). Pound Puppies, yeah, didn't look interesting at ALL, and Care Bears... Ugh... Like, I know Amy Keating Rogers is working on the show, but I still can't get past how the show looks (she wasn't my favorite writer from FiM anyway). Like, some might find it appealing, I don't. CG is always hard to get down right, especially compared to what you can do with 2D animation, and the series just looks kind of dull to me... Not to mention, Beastly was much better when he worked for Noheart. So, anyway, to add to their list of TV shows based on one of their many products, Hasbro is going to air a show based on the Littlest Pet Shop franchise, which airs the same day as the Friendship is Magic season 3 premiere. My experience with this toy franchise has been limited. We had a board game based on it that I played with my sister a lot (I would always be the turtle, because I like turtles), and my sisters would have some toys, just like My Little Pony, but that was it. I heard there was an old TV show based on this franchise, but unlike the MLP TV show, I don't think it caught on... since I only know about this through Wikipedia. The first time I heard about this was over on Equestria Daily, where it was mentioned that several of the talents on FiM would also be working on this show. I didn't really think much of that since, like I said, Amy Keating Rogers now works on Care Bears and I didn't care much for that (oh the irony XP ). So I was pretty much prepared to just skim over this show like the others, until I saw this: ...Wow. So, apparently, Daniel Ingram, the song-writer for FiM, is also a key composer for this show, too. As for the other talents, Ashleigh Ball (Rainbow Dash and Applejack) is the voice of the girl, Tabitha St. Germain (Rarity and Princess Luna) is the voice of the skunk, Nicole Oliver (Princess Celestia and Cheerilee) is the voice of the purple dog (whether she's the dog's singing voice too, I don't know), and Peter New (Big Macintosh) is the voice of the blue mongoose. The series will also feature Kathleen Barr ("The Great and Powerful" Trixie, Queen Chrysalis of the Changelings, and the voice of Kevin from Ed, Edd, 'n Eddy) as the owner of the pet shop, and one of the writers is M.A. Larson, who not only writes for FiM but also wrote for My Gym Partner's A Monkey (er...), Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil (um...), and Sym-Biotic Titan (HELL YEAH!), as well as writing for an episode of Gravity Falls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. Speaking of Foster's, that's what this show reminds me of the most. The idea behind Foster's was that there was a mansion full of imaginary friends, but they were all up for adoption, so at any minute they can be adopted and taken off the show, possibly for good. It's something the show did NOT shy away from, in fact one episode was dedicated to Mac and Bloo trying to PREVENT their "friends" from being adopted. I can't help but wonder if this show will go down the same route... I should also probably mention that I don't think the animation's that stellar, especially compared to MLP. While bright colors and interesting background are present in both shows, I feel this one doesn't have the same appealing design that MLP does. Like, there's nothing wrong with how the animals or the girl looks, they're just not as immediately adorable as Lauren Faust's absolutely perfect pony designs. Also, I haven't seen much of the show's actual animation, outside of this one clip, and so far, it doesn't seem nearly as on-par with FiM's, but then again, it IS just starting out, and perhaps it will get better over time, like FiM. Then again, it's a bit too soon to make assumptions about the show. After all, as they say, assuming makes and ass out of you. :P For the moment, I'll just same I'm intrigued by the show and will add it to the long, long, LONG list of shows I'll check out when I find the time. |

I'm going to make a comparison of this show to MLP that I thought of as I watched it:
MLP:FIM is like a Solid Chocolate Bunny with Peanut Butter filling. This Littlest Pet Shop show is like a Hollow Chocolate Bunny. It might have some similarities to the solid chocolate bunny (aka VA's, Composers, even a couple of writers), but deep down there isn't much inside it. (This is just from watching the clip and seeing picture. It could be decent, but meh)

Bumping this topic because this movie just came out in theaters. I just saw it with my parents, and my mom wanted to see it as well as myself. My dad was just along for the ride, though.
Bumping topic, because the film just came out, and I just saw it. I really love the premise of the movie, if I didn't make that clear before, and while watching it, there were points where I was shaking with excitement, like the inner child in me was trying to break free, appropriately enough. I sensed a lot of whimsy and fantasy in this movie, like an action-packed Disney movie that's really light on comedy actual... Like there ARE funny moments, but the focus isn't on the humor or any kind of comedic exaggeration so much as it is about this world where the icons of our childhood exist and work together. In fact, of all things, it reminds me of the Oz series of books. There were plenty explanations of how things worked in the land of Oz, as well as origin stories for certain characters, but they all defied logic and had a certain appeal that lent itself to the imagination and creativity of children or people with that child-like quality to them. It makes me want to read the books this movie is based on. William Joyce, the author of those books, worked pretty closely on this movie I hear (incidentally, he was an executive producer), and the character designs come from Joyce's own character backlog. This, along with How to Train Your Dragon, marks to me a shift in tone in Dreamworks, and the way they handle movies. Instead of being cash-grabby and "zany", they don't talk down to their audience, and instead give quality family entertainment... Not unlike how Disney used to do things. I know I compared it to Disney already, but really, after seeing the trailer for their next movie, The Croods, it really feels like they're trying to capture that special "something" that Disney movies used to have... and may still have, if they keep doing the right things. Although, if there is one criticism I have to say for the movie, it MIGHT come off as a tad predictable. Good wins, evil loses and is sent away, characters act pretty much how you'd expect they would, although with Jack Froze, I do admit, he really is a good kid (and by kid I mean a 300-year-old teen
Spoiler!
Spoiler!
I think the best thing about this movie is how timeless this feels. There's no pop culture references, no references to modern-day technology, no "winking at the audience" type of humor, nothing in this movie that dates itself. It really feels like an instant classic that will be played on TV for years to come, especially around Christmas, given the winter themes in the movie. (and maybe Easter, since Easter DOES happen at one point). You almost NEVER see a movie like this made anymore, and the fact that DREAMWORKS of all companies produced it is just astounding! Right, so, good movie, bring the kids, bring the family, enjoy. Here's hoping this becomes a franchise so we can see more done with this premise! |

So a LONG while ago, I came across this article, and it's only until recently that I stopped being lazy and actually got around to sharing it. What's it about? Well, basically, it says that John Lassenter, aka the guy who's been basically leading Disney in the right direction these past few years, announced some time ago that they won't be doing anymore traditionally animated movies in the near future:
TAG Blog: Hand Drawn at Disney Well... okay, it technically didn't say that, per se, but it doesn't feel like he's pushing the idea, nor does it feel like Disney even wants to do it anymore. Why? It looks good, plus looking at the last two hand-drawn movies, it's so much cheaper. But I guess The Princess and the Frog and Winnie the Pooh didn't make as much money as expected. I really don't know what to say about The Princess and the Frog, other than it made money, maybe it's the whole "Disney princess" angle and that's just not going to cut it anymore. As for Winnie the Pooh, it just barely made back it's budget, which was $30 million. Oh, and I'm sure that releasing it on THE SAME WEEKEND AS THE FINAL HARRY POTTER MOVIE HAD ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH IT'S BOX OFFICE PERFORMANCE WHATSOEVER!!!! Geez, it's almost like Disney PURPOSEFULLY premiered it then, just so they could use it as an excuse not to do these kinds of movies anymore! No, don't get me wrong, I think a movie SHOULD rely on the story and characters to be good, not the visuals or how it's animated. I mean, that can certainly be a plus, but what I'm getting at is, I don't want that style of animation to die out. I know some movies are better suited to CG movies. Like Wreck-It Ralph, that was CG, and it fits, seeing as it was about video games and such. But I feel like, if a movie CAN be hand-drawn, and if it suits the movie, do it! Just give us one last chance, I SWEAR we won't disappoint you, Disney! |
|
||||

What about his rumor?
Disney Animation working on new Hand Drawn film | The Disney Blog Dammit. I miss traditional animation so badly. |
|
||||

CGI is currently in a Renaissance, and while traditional animation is viewed as childish, 3D is perceived as all audiences. Disney is a company first and foremost, and will take the safest option for a profit. It's why other films they planned, such as Frozen, switched over to CGI after Tangled did far better than Princess and the Frog did.
You'll see traditional styled emerge again once the popularity of the Pixar/Dreamworks style starts to decline, or when new techniques make it cheaper or easier. The Paper Man and some techniques coming out of Japan are a start, but you won't see anything like the 90's Disney Renaissance for some time. |

A while ago in this thread I said I was going to see ParaNorman in theaters on opening day. I didn't, unfortunately, and forgot about the movie completely until yesterday on a flight, when a friend gave me the DVD and I saw the movie on my laptop. BUT ENOUGH WITH THIS NONSENSE God lord is ParaNorman an ugly movie. There's not one character in the movie that looks remotely appealing. and the zombies only look passable because they're supposed to be ugly! The environments all look worn and dark and totally devoid of color besides washed out yellow, green and black. I'm not sure if this was intentional or not, but jeez! Ugly film! |

So I'm subscribed to Shout Factory on YouTube for various reasons, and this trailer came up in my inbox, and I checked it out:

I'm a huge fan of Studio Ghibli films.
Besides them, I definitely go to see Pixar's offerings (minus Cars 2. To this day, haven't seen it), and most of the time for Dreamworks. I loved Rise of the Guardians. Wreck-it-Ralph honestly disappointed me, despite some genuinely hilarious stuff in there. Of course, it doesn't help that the bright colors gave me a raging headache that day.

Ah, I loved Wreck-it Ralph. Saw it twice in theaters in 3D (mostly because of the more convenient time slot, though the 3D wasn't bad) and I can't wait to buy the dvd next month. ....Although since the 3D does make it darker, I guess it'll be interesting to see just how bright the original colors are? Aw, now you got me worried. Is it brighter than Tangled? 'Cause the lighting in that movie was pretty bright, although I love that movie a lot too.
Haven't seen Rise of the Guardians, waiting to Netflix it once it comes out. I saw Hotel Transylvania yesterday; the story was really good/cute but the animation and pace was a little too overamped for me. Disney's Frozen looks like it will be released later this year, though it sort of sounds like a wintery version of Tangled. Which... I'm a little disappointed about, but I don't want to comment until there's more material about it out. I kind of hope this theme of one verb titles won't become a habit though.

I wanted to make a topic for each individual new show that's going to be on Cartoon Network, or at least one in particular, but I felt that, even though I wanted to talk about all of them, so many of them have so little information to go on so there's not that much to talk about. I might make an actual topic for each of them later on, but for now, I'm going to bring up, for those of you who don't know, several new shows that have been greenlit by Cartoon Network and will premiere... sometime this year, or early next year... Okay, here it goes!
Uncle Grandpa For those curious as to what this is about... well, here's an animated short that SHOULD give you a basic idea: So... yeah. It's like that. Apparently, Uncle Grandpa is everyone's uncle and grandpa and goes around the world doing... stuff. Weird-ass stuff. Though I have to say, I rather enjoyed it myself. It's created by Pete Browngardt, who also made fellow Cartoon Network show, Secret Mountain Fort Awesome, which... is a show that's definitely selling itself on the gross-out factor. Funnily enough, there WAS an episode of that show that focused on Uncle Grandpa, thereby making THIS TV series a spin-off! I like that, it's like Cow & Chicken and I Am Weasel, or The Grim Adventures Of Billy And Mandy and Evil Con Carne. Not to mention, while there is STILL a lot of gross stuff in this show, it DOES look a whole lot better that Secret Mountain Fort Awesome in comparison. So color me intrigued, at the very least. Clarence Cartoon Network Orders “Clarence” | Cartoon Brew Created by CalArts grad Skyler Page, who had previously been a storyboard artist on Adventure Time, the show is about the titular Clarance, ?an optimistic boy who wants to do everything because everything is amazing.? Yeah... That has got to be the vaguest description for a TV I've ever heard. Not even sure what to make of this... I Heart Tuesdays Ne-Yo Creating 'I Heart Tuesday' For Cartoon Network - Music, Celebrity, Artist News | MTV.com Created by R&B artist Ne-Yo of all people, this series focuses on two Greek Gods who, in being punished by Zeus, must save the world from a new threat every Tuesday, while also attending high school. Aside from the whole high school angle (I've seen that FAR too many times, and I'm not a fan of high school drama to be honest), this sounds like a freaking awesome premise and I am highly anticipating this how! Mars Safari Okay, so I don't know if this is actually going to be a series, but apparently the pilot was greenlit... I can't exactly find anything aside from some pictures and stuff, but what I DID find was this article about how the process went: Ghostshrimp Exposes the Hypocrisy of Cartoon Network | Cartoon Brew It sounds like it's going to be another one of those shows that's being sold on the weirdness factor which... I dunno, I'm kind of sick of from Cartoon Network at this point. But who knows, maybe I'm wrong. Here's hoping. And finally, we have... Steven Universe First Look: “Steven Universe” by Rebecca Sugar” | Cartoon Brew This was the one I wanted to make a topic for and was the whole point of this topic. This show is from the mind of Rebecca Sugar, a writer and storyboard artist on Adventure Time, and the creator of the gender-swapped Fionna and Cake from that series! This is also notable for being the first Cartoon Network series to have a solo female showrunner (sorry Lauren Faust...). The show is going to focus on Steven (based on Rebecca's real-life brother, supposedly), the youngest member of a magical team known as the Guardians of the Universe, consisting also of Pearl, Garnet and Amethyst. It's a coming of age story, and by far the most awesome-sounding series of the ones I've mentioned here! I also mistook one Party Wagon for being an upcoming TV series, but I misread something, and it turns out, it wasn't. Oh well. Overall, I have to say I like this line-up. Awesome new shows, stuff Cartoon Network needs... I feel. Sort of. It already has some awesome shows but, you know, could stand to improve a bit... |

![]() An upcoming TV series, based in the Marvel Cinematic Universe of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, etc., being headed by none other than Joss Whedon, director and co-writer of The Avengers. It would seem to follow a group of people within S.H.I.E.L.D., the government agency that apparently deals with these "superhero" types that occupy the world they live in, headed by Phil Coulson from the movies. There's lots of speculation to be had here, such as
Spoiler!
(Actually, I think Sub-Mariner is part of the X-Men/Fantastic Four deal and thus officially owned by Fox, though I'm not sure) That being said, this COULD be the chance to bring other, more obscure Marvel characters into the spotlight, even though is still sucks that they're missing some major players... That being said, looking at that promo, is that Luke Cage saving that girl from the building? Either way, definitely looking forward to this. |

This may or may not determine anything, but just for the heck of it, I'm posting this anyway... Also, I'm referring to The Hub specifically, because they said which of their "Hub Network" characters deserves their own spin-off. Zero guesses as to which show got the most character suggestions. Say who you would like to see in his/her/its own spin-off on The Hub on Facebook:
https://www.facebook.com/hubtvnetwor...03314099717677 As for myself, I said I'd like a spin-off of either Trixie, Derpy, Discord, and/or Celestia and Luna. |

AKA, the series of movies made by Marvel Studios, now owned by the Walt Disney Company. Basically, it refers to these films:
Phase 1: Iron Man The Incredible Hulk Iron Man 2 Thor Captain America: The First Avenger The Avengers Phase 2: Iron Man 3 Thor: The Dark World (November 8, 2013) Captain America: The Winter Soldier (April 4, 2014) Guardians of the Galaxy (August 1, 2014) The Avengers 2 (May 1, 2015) Phase 3: Ant-Man (November 6, 2015) There are also various tie-ins, including comic books (seperate from the actual comic book continuity), one-off short films such as: The Consultant A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer Item 47 And, of course, there's the upcoming TV series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., set to premiere in the Fall of 2013. All of which encompasses one big connected universe. I love these movies, though one has to wonder, with contracts reaching their end, how long will this go on... It managed to strike up a huge initial success, though one has to wonder what phase 2 will be like... or what will happen after that... ANYWAY, feel free to talk about what you thinks of the movies in the series, and what you hope from upcoming movies and tie-ins! Personally, I think the second Thor's looking pretty damn cool, the second Captain America will probably be pretty awesome as well, Guardians of the Galaxy will be... interesting... and I still can't believe they're making an Ant-Man movie... Though I also have some news regarding The Avengers 2; according to this IGN article: Joss Whedon Talks Quicksilver, the Scarlet Witch and Iron Man's Roles in Avengers 2 - IGN Joss Whedon says that Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch will be in The Avengers 2. This development is interesting, because as some of you might know, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, while associated with the Avengers in the comics, premiered and are associated with the X-Men, in that they're both Mutants and are the children of Magneto. Problem here is that Fox owns the movie-making rights to anything associated to X-Men, so they can't be called mutants or mention anything about Magneto at all in the movie... so why even include them? Or how? Well, this other article I read goes into why that might be: MOVIEBOB: And Your Next Two AVENGERS Are... Either way, interesting new development! Oh yeah, BTW, certain Marvel characters are owned by different movie-making studios under different movie-making copyrights. I only just heard about this. Apparently, premiering June 1, The Hub is going to have a new show about a "legacy" superhero known as "Shezow", in which her superpowers and gadgets are passed down... to a teenage boy.
The Hub apparently hopes(almost in a "Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot will be the next My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" kind of way) that the show will have "the magic touch" in the ratings: Kids' cable channel Hub hopes 'SheZow' has magic touch on ratings - latimes.com Interesting premise... Probably would like it more if it didn't look like crap. And I mean that literally, I don't like the overall look and design of the series. I honestly applaud this new show and would honestly check it out if, you know, the faces didn't look all weird. Same reason I didn't bother with Welcome to Care-a-Lot, and partly why I haven't bothered with Littlest Pet Shop that much. Sounds trite, but that's how it works with me: if I'm going to watch a TV show, I want to to be appealing to my eyeballs in order to actually, you know, watch it. |

So MovieBob did a video responding to the media backlash of this cartoon being shown on The Hub:
The Escapist : Video Galleries : The Big Picture : Boy's Own Adventure Here was my response to the video: "Wait... Gumball quality? MovieBob LIKES Gumball? I mean, don't get me wrong, it's a decent show and all, and I just LOVE the visuals and the way it blends different styles of animation, but the actual show itself... Eh... Wouldn't put it in the same camp as Adventure Time, though. As for Shezow, I don't feel interested at ALL in seeing this show, mostly because the visuals don't seem that impressive. Not to mention, most people who've seen it haven't saying good things about it, and not just the anti-LGBT nutballs, either. And having seen the clips of it... Boy, and people thought the horse-related puns in MLP were bad. These are just cringe-worthy!" |

![]() That's right, Disney's FINALLY making new Mickey Mouse cartoons, and they're premiering them on the Disney Channel of all places! The guy directing these shorts, Paul Rudish, worked on Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, Samurai Jack, Star Wars: The Clone Wars (presumable the 2D Genndy Tartakovsky version), and helped Lauren Faust co-write her My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic bible. So clearly, it seems that this guy's got talent, and it's being put to good use. Just to get a good taste of what we're in for, here's one of the cartoons (in French): Croissant de Triomphe | Mickey Mouse and Friends | Disney Video (Unfortunately, it's come to my attention that this video can't be viewed by certain people in select countries. I don't watch any of the Disney channels unless Phineas and Ferb or Gravity Falls is on.
This is great to see some Disney-related animation hitting the Disney Channel for once, especially when the big mascot of the long-time company is the main star. Better than that modern Mickey PlayHouse show they run weekday mornings. |

Dave Polsky is a writer for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and he's one of the more infamous writers on the show for writing some of the most divided and/or controversial episodes of the series. He's joined the rest of the cast and crew from the show in visiting various cons, including one TrotCon, which took place from June 14-16 at Sheraton Columbus at Capitol Square, Columbus, Ohio.
So here's the thing; if you check Dave Polsky's TrotCon 2013 info, you'll find this: TrotCon 2013 - Featured Guests Quote:

Still, I don't know what to make of that "Pony-esque reboot of the cartoon series"... Because My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a LOT of things, and can be enjoyed for multiple reasons, so saying this new show will be "like that" tells us nothing about what it'll be like. |

These look great, finally something related to Mickey Mouse on Disney Channel for once. Too bad they're just shorts, and not a full series. Hopefully they'll make more of these, and air them between shows. Gives me more reason to watch Disney Channel. I only watch it for some of the movies they air, Phineas and Ferb, and Gravity Falls.

How many of you are familiar with The Snow Queen? It's a Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale, much like The Steadfast Tin Soldier and The Little Mermaid. And as you know, Disney is no stranger to adapting classic fairy tales into memorable (or not so memorable) family movies! Originally called The Snow Queen and planned to be hand-drawn like The Princess and the Frog, this movie went through some changes since the start of it's development... Much like how Tangled went from "Rapunzel" to it's current title, this movie is now called Frozen for some stupid reason, and is now being animated with CGI. Both of which kind of brings you down, but I guess people really aren't interested in traditionally hand-drawn stuff anymore.
![]() Anyway, I make this topic because Disney has finally released a teaser for this movie. My thoughts:
Spoiler!
I'm actually more excited to see Disney movies then I was a few years back, and surprisingly, I'm more excited about this then I am about Pixar's movie this year... Though honestly that's not saying much (it's a prequel to an okay movie AND it's a college movie, that doesn't build up a lot of excitement for me, sorry). So yeah, here's hoping for another good entry into the Disney Animated Canon.

The shorts have been uploaded to YouTube on Disney's "Disney Shorts" channel:
Honestly, I have to say, these cartoons are a bit more gross then I'd expect from Mickey Mouse cartoons, what with the drool from the yeti, the massive belch, and, of all things, Goofy scratching his crotch! ...That said, I really loved these cartoons and I look forward to seeing more of them! Incidentally, my mom saw them, and she didn't care for the more angular appearances of the characters. My dad also saw Yodelberg, though I don't know his thoughts on them.

Not sure how I feel about the new Mickey Shorts. The animation is unique but not really my cup of tea.

I also want to check out Uncle Grandpa. I'm not expecting gold, though I find the premise strangle endearing.
Also, while I was on vacation last week, I watched a lot more TV then I do now, since I'm usually on the Internet or playing video games. Here are some of my thoughts on the shows I watched: Regular Show is awesome in every way, The Amazing World of Gumball is a lot better then I gave it credit for (though I think it go better as the series went on), I've hit a bit of a rut on Adventure Time and need to catch up on it., Fish Hooks might actually be a decent show, American Dad is one of my new favorite animated shows, newer Family Guy is actually pretty good, and The Cleveland Show is pretty much exactly what I always thought it was: a black, sub-par version of Family Guy that ruined Cleveland's character, but still had a good supporting cast. Also, Cartoon Network loves it's Scooby-Doo movies.

I'm almost certain I made a seperate topic for this, but I'm assuming it got absorbed into this one, so I'll say it here:
Remember that new Sonic the Hedgehog animated series I mentioned a while back, the one with Dave Polsky, a writer on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic among other shows, would be writing for here? Well, there's new info, and a teaser image: SEGA Blog | Sonic Boom (Working Title) – A New Animated Series Coming Fall 2014 ![]() I wish I knew how Sonic really looked, though the designs seem... alright. Knuckles sure is buff, though. Makes me wonder what Dr. Robotnik/Eggman is going to look like... As for making it CG, eh well, I suppose it could work. Sure I'd love to see a traditionally animated show, or Hell even a Flash comedy cartoon since that works well, when it's in the right hands. CG is harder to pull off, though given the redesigned looks of the characters, maybe they have something in mind... Edit: BTW, I noticed that Knuckles hands seem to have individual fingers, instead of being boxing glove-like... in addition to being ultra-buff now. Wonder what other changes they've made.
