Default Write a short review of a 3DS game

Hey! Buy a new 3DS game? How about writing a quick review of it? Share your thoughts on the game with us.
How long it is doesn't really matter, but a few lines should be enough.

Now why would I write it here on this thread, when I could make a different thread specially made for the review?

If you don't want to write one, no need to reply. I think it's a good idea to generate a thread where everyone quicky shares an opinion about something they just bought, it's a good option, as opposed to opening threads for in-depth reviews that can go all over the place.

I haven't added too many titles to my 3DS library, but Pushmo is by far my favorite. It's clever and addictive, and the best part is the game will never end as long as people are still sharing their creativity. I love the Professor Layton series as well as Picross (original and 3D), Pushmo is more than ideal for me on a 3DS

Tales of the abyss, port from a PS2 game but still enjoyable, some English voices are dull and skits aren't voices at all, though at least you can play the game so it's better than nothing. I can picture the story too complicated and weird for people not familiar with Tales games but I do think most people can overlook it for the characters, there are many kinds all with unique personalities, witch makes it all much more fun. The fighting system is similar to previous Tales games, easy for anyone to master, free movement, not turn based like Final fantasy. Which makes things less repetitive.

Was that short enough?

Dead or Alive demensions. Best fighter on portable system I ever played. Could have been a console release. Graphics and gameplay are both fluid. Plenty of game modes high replay ability.

Pushmo: the puzzles are clever and sometimes frustratingly difficult, and its great seeing Nintendo sprites turned into entire levels. There's a ton of content (over 200 puzzles!), and the level creator is easy to use. It's just a shame you can't share levels online.

Splinter Cell 3D: You can spawn in front of cameras!

Not that fun, when I remember saving at a time when said camera was facing the opposite direction.

Super monkeyball3D

the 3D really makes environments pop. The 3d in this game at max is little too intense though. It's a little too easy compared to previous games in the series and really easy to finish. Monkey race mode was horribly flawed and I didnt find myself going back there. Monkeyfight mode doesn't work well either, attacks and buttons were very unresponsive and slow but this mode was slightly addictive and kept me on it for a few days. I have to say after you've played this game once, you won't really play it again afterwards. I recommend only getting this game at second-hand or don't get it at all.

Tales of the Abyss
Fantastic RPG on the system despite it being a port over from the PS2. As far as I can tell nothing was removed from the game for it to fit on the 3DS card. A few framerate issues in some areas of the overworld but nothing that actually impedes gameplay. Fluid battles, controls work well on the 3DS. Very lengthy game that gives incentive to play through it multiple times with harder difficulties and the Grade Shop when accessing New Game+.

Consider it appreciated ^_^

MarioKart7:
_Pros_
-Lots of nice looking and well designed new tracks
-Lots of classic and great old tracks
-Great use of online/local multiplayer(online is also smooth)
-Good use of streetpass and spotpass
-Lots to unlock(kart parts, characters) giving good replay value
-New play styles(the gliding and diving)
-graphics comparable to that of the home console versions

_Cons_
-small character roster(and some bad unlockable characters)
-slightly long loading times(especially in time trial modes)
-Annoying item balances

This is what I see most from this game. MarioKart7 is a great game eitherway and I recommend this to all 3DS owners out there ^_^

Nano Assault
Unique, fun and under-appreciated. At $19.99 or $14.99 this game offers some of the best use of 3D on the system.

Cooking Mama 4: Kitchen Magic

It is fun and addictive to play. Easy to pick up and play. Has improved graphically from its predecessors from 2D sprites to using 3D models though still not great looking but has an unrealistic charm. Lots of recipes to unlock. Also lots of outfits and other decorative things to be unlocked but if you're a guy like me you wouldn't really care about that. There are also some bonus minigames which you can unlock. There are tons of things to unlock in this game which gives this game a little more replay ability. Would've been cool to have more recipes as DLC. If you enjoyed any cooking mama game before this and you own a 3ds, I'd recommend this to you

Dead or Alive Dimensions
Gameplay is fast and fluid, 3d looks great especially in cutscenes however decreases framerate, Nice and interactive stages and lots of characters to choose from, loads of modes, lots of things to unlock like costumes, figurines (I don't really care about these though), streetpass and spotpass are used well(DLC, throwdown challenges). The story mode is a little strange when characters remain frozen and don't move their lips when they speak and that you can't adjust the difficulty.
Great alternative to any other fighters available on the system. I recommend this to anyone.

I don't remember putting that on. I'll change that right now.

Added after 9 minutes:

By the way thank you everyone for all your thoughts. They're very helpful and are much appreciated.

StarFox64 3D

It's very short, you won't find yourself playing it unless you're the type that likes to try beat your old scores. Gyro controld don't work very well for me. I like how they give you to control schemes, N64 and 3DS. Multiplayer is a big plus for this game. Doesn't have online multiplayer though. Showing your face on camera in multiplayer is a nead addition. This game is still fun and entertaining either way and is a great game. I would recommend this to you mostly if you haven't played the original or if you're a real hardcore fan of the series. Otherwise, you might want to pass this one up.

Just goes to show you that you need to know how to type English correctly or something.... haha

Sonic Generations, not as good as the PS3 version but it has exclusive levels and bosses, different from the PS3 version. The story mode is short, but you can take on challenges and beat your high scores and other tasks. When you do, you get extras and artwork just like the PS3 version. Graphics looks nice, though it could have used a little more 3D view when playing with modern Sonic. It also lacks real cut scenes. Too bad, they would have looked good in real 3D. Still fun, that coming from a Sonic fan that has been playing since the Mega drive/Genesis time.

BlazeBlue: Continuum Shift II
Great gameplay, graphics, music, and story (better than any other fighting gameI've ever played). The only problems are that the speech is really compressed, and the game does not go into sleep mode. EVER.

I'm just going to butt-in with a second opinion here.

I loved the 360 Version, I got all 1000G in under a week because I played it so much! And still played it after that, It was just so much fun.

And then I made the mistake of purchasing the 3DS version. No Cut scenes, No speech, just words for the story. I'm not usually one to complain about graphics but it just... doesn't look good.

I could put that past me and just enjoy the game... But the game play was terrible too! I'm so annoyed its sitting in my collection.

Thats my two cents anyway.

Starfox 64 3d: Overpriced, if it had online play it may be worth the asking price. As it is despite the quality of the gameplay etc it simply isn't worth it.

Tales of the Abyss (because it deserves three reviews):
Best game on the 3DS. Get it... NOW. Great plot, great characters, plenty of humor, high re-play value due to the New Game Plus option. The "bad" things about the game are as follows:
-The Skits aren't voiced
-Some lag when moving around the map
-You can sometimes get confused as to where you are supposed to go
-You can't play on a cleared Save File, all it does is take you to the Grade Shop for the New game +
-Almost all of the side quests have a certain point where you can't do them anymore
-A few things are exclusive to second play-throughs only
-In some areas the 3D can be underwhelming, but in others it is good.

All, I could think of for cons. It is really a great game.

No one has done this:

3D CLASSIC XEVIOUS
The original arcade game was great with many colors for that time in the game. Now with the 3D option, it makes the game a whole lot better. If you go into options, you can change the 3D of how it pops out. If you are very good at this game, you can go on for hours, trying to beat the game...GOOD LUCK

tekken 3D Prime Edition
good looking graphics, fast and fluid fighting and almost perfectly ported with all the characters of tekken 6 in it. The Tekken Blood Vengeance CGI feature film is built in it too in 3D. The 3D in the movie however is not used very well and is barely even noticable at times. The game comes short content wise as it only has about 4 modes(special survival, Quick battle, multiplayer versus, practice mode) and no story mode. Stages don't look very great and the background appears to slide around awkwardly sometimes.
In my opinion, this game feels a little bit lazily developed but it's good enough if you want a tekken game and own a 3ds. Otherwise, wait for a price drop, or pass this one up

Spirit Camera:

Scariest game I've ever played period. Beautiful artwork in the enclosed book also.

Game play is fantastic and the graphics are the best I've ever seen in a game. This game is a spin-off from the Fatal Frame series where you defeat enemy ghosts using a camera.

On 3DS the system's Augmented Reality capabilities make this much more fun than in the origonal series. The Story Mode is where most of the content can be found. This mode you scan an physical book included with the game to advance the story while you hunt ghosts using your 3DS as a ghost killing camera. Overall, the game is fun - impressive AR use, 3D done well on the system and some great mini-games. Fatal Frame series fans and those with a particular love for Japanese horror will love it. I myself bought the game because of it's superb use of Augmented Reality.

I knew going in that the game was very good If you are a Fatal Frame fan or horror fan I say pick it up - you'll be glad you did.

--------------------------------------

That should work for a nice short review!

its also cool that we no longer need to type in a long and annoying password to enter a level we have been to before. plus the new background graphics and just being able to play it on a handheld makes it epic. but...it will still make you rage quit from time to time

I was just keeping it short, a lot of people stopped playing it simply because they couldn't get past the first few jumps. The funny part is those are the hardest jumps.

Rrrrrriiiiidge Racer (3D) is rrrreeally decent! A rich variety of (recycled) tracks, cars, and car customisations. You can choose what songs you want to play for the race and even change it mid-race! Car contains an annoying woman who is quick to criticise. Full game; no excessive DLC unlike Vita RR. Worth it if you are new to series and can tolerate some annoying dialogue.

Cartoon Network's Punch Time Explosion:
Lower quality Smash Brothers. Its not that bad becuase so much of it is directly lifted from Smash Brothers, but its not that great either. Some of the character voices are off, and other characters who should be in it aren't, because of the limited development time for a launch title. Its also rather short. If you want it, get it on sale for $20 or less. Or maybe get a console XL version with more content, I haven't played those however, and I think they cost $30 (Maybe $20 dependig on where you look)

Nintendogs 3DS: A re-pasted DLC Of the original Ninty Dogs. Don't buy unless you haven't played the original.

Mighty Switch Force

This game is 16 levels of awesome! It blends platforming and shooting with complex puzzles. The block switching mechanic is an interesting use of 3D while the pixel art is some of WayForward's best to date. The only complaint is that there's not enough of the game. (but I did hear that its getting updated with 5 more levels) Overall, the game is one of the eShop's must-have titles.

Nobody talked about Cubic Ninja

That game is nice. i am a puzzle game lover so i love it. It's really fun and challenging, and the controls are fun. but the downside is, when u play with the gyro which is the main selling point of the game, THERE IS NO 3D! so, some would get turned off from it b-cus of that.
Still, was really fun for me.
i really like it and i didn't pay alot for a brand new copy, so if you'd like it, buy now.

KI:U

A wonderful game filled with action-packed adventure. The formulaic approach to the game starts out fresh and never gets boring. The humor in the game is ingenious. It breaks the fourth wall many times, jokes about the economy, and even pokes fun at other Nintendo franchises (I.E: "Hey aren't those Metroids?" "SHHHH! Don't spoil the secret!"). The controls coulld've been improved as to make them more comfortable, but they work really well. Land Battles don't always flow smoothly do to having to use the stylus to aim AND as a camera. Story mode is short with too many twists and turns, but Multiplayer mode is extremely satisfying. Buy the game today!

Super Mario 3D land. New features and fun 3D platforming. Original story is quick and easy but the special levels make up for it. 9/10

Zombie Slayer Diox: Not as bad as the 4/10 reviews I've seen say it is... but not perfect.
-Very short (37 min Soundtrack)
-Similar controls to Kid Icarus (So kinda awkward) (The stand might of helped)
-No proper difficulty curve (The 1st boss is very nasty)
I had a lot of fun on it though, and it has a killer soundtrack. (Google it for a free download from the developer's site)
I'd give it a 6/10,not as bad as a 4, but if you go into it thinking you'll like it, you should probably like it.

Reviews for the games I own..

Mario Kart 7: Fun racing game with good online features. Mediocre roster.
DOAD: Solid handheld fighter with free DLC costumes.
Nintendogs + Cats: Basically the original in 3D...with useless cats.
Kid Icarus Uprising: Awkward controls, beautiful graphics, lots of content.
Tales of the Abyss: A PS2 JRPG port, filled with many hours of gameplay.
Nano Assault: Cheap and underrated shooter game, gorgeous graphics.
TLoZ-OoT: A classic Nintendo masterpiece remastered in 3D.
SM3DL: Typical Mario game that involves typical Mario things, in 3D. Short.
Pokemon Rumble Blast: Just another mediocre Pokemon spinoff.
Starfox 64 3D: A remake of another Nintendo classic. Short shooting game.
SSFIV: A fighter port. Decent game, not as fun as Dead or Alive IMO.

Ridge Racer 3D: Decent launch title, very fun to play, not really worthy of a purchase now though. Looks on par with the PSP RR which is disappointing.

Rayman 3D: Rayman 2, with strong 3D. The platforming isn't all that fun.

Asphalt 3D: Fun at the time, but horrible physics, poor framerate, full of glitches, in short a lazy port of a smartphone game that wasn't very good. Asphalt 6 Adrenaline HD is 99 cents and it's better.

Raving Rabbids Travel in Time 3D: easy as hell, not enough variety in the environments, and you spend your time collecting items for no reason. Some fun levels however, and the graphics are nice enough. It would have been nice as an eShop title under $10.

Dead or Alive: Dimensions: beautiful looking game, a lot of content, but the online lags, and unfortunately, the game isn't very accessible for non-fighting game fans. A very good fighter for those people though.

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D: very nice-looking game (especially at the time it was released), very intense, very addicting, pure arcade fun. However, it was only meant as an appetizer to Resident Evil: Revelations which is now out.

Driver Renegade: too easy, had good intentions but game was poorly thought-out and there's really not too much to do unfortunately. Still, for fans of open world driving games, some fun can be had with this if bought at a low price, but the game is too clunky to recommend despite some efforts.

Nascar Unleashed: poor graphics, good track design, some cool environments, a good challenge, but very chaotic and messy, and ultimately, too short. Not nearly enough content.

Need for Speed: The Run: a story mode with some silly moments that break too much away from the racing, but beyond that, a very solid, high-speed arcade racer with tons of locations and decent graphics. Recommended if you want a real-world arcade racer on the 3DS.

Super Mario 3D Land: pure Mario goodness, requires good reflexes and timing, Mario has a lot of moves and the level design is just brilliant. Very good graphics too. A must-own.

Mario Kart 7: Crappy single-player mode not worth the trouble, but very addictive online experience. The graphics are inconsistent, generally good enough but not as good as they could have been. A lot of courses. A must-own but not an all-around great game like SM3DL. Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed has a good shot at being better, although the online probably won't be as populated.

Samurai Warriors Chronicles: Very solid game, full of content, intense. Requires a lot of time and dedication however, you can't really pick it up and play it unless you have 45min/an hour ahead of you. Still, very good launch title, still holds up relatively well and can be found for $15.

Kid Icarus: Uprising: very solid game, aesthetically pleasing but the graphics are more often than not disappointing. Awkward controls but playable and enjoyable. A great, original experience on the 3DS. A must-own.

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure: very colorful, very enjoyable. A good hub world, some great environments, graphically pleasing title. Not challenging, but not crazily easy. The gameplay is very basic and repetitive, with not enough emphasis on platforming, but overall the recipe still works well. However, the game is criminally short. Took my time and finished it in 6 hours. Depending on the price, the game might be worth it. I paid it $39.99 and don't really regret it, but it would be better at $29.99 and should never be bought at anything over $39.99 in my opinion. The content just doesn't warrant it, and from what I've heard, the DLC levels available as toys cost $20 and yet only give you ONE level, not a whole world, but a single level. Shameful.

F1 2011: Warmly recommended for fans of simulation or serious racing titles. The graphics are decent, the content is HUGE, the game is very customizable. You can do 58-lap races if you want to, with pit stops in between. Just an all-around very honest game, it's definitely worth it for anyone with an itch for racing.

I recently got

Tales of the Abyss for the 3DS in a competition.

It's a brilliant game.
The battle system for the game is fun and quick.
It's not those boring type of RPGS where you take turns to beat your enemies.

You actually get to move your character, make your choices and do the beating by yourself.
It has fun gameplay and a great story.
Very Saddening moments and some funny.
Graphics are slightly dated but that's about it.
I played this game throughout it's 28-30 hour story and never got bored once.
I was always eager to pick up and play this game straight till the end.

If you havent played Tales of The Abyss on the PS2 get the 3DS version.
Wont regret it.
This game is in my top 10 loved games of all time!

Final Score for Tales of the Abyss : 9.3/10

Bird Mani 3D

good time killer, simple yet addictive - 1 endless stage (runner style-like game) with high score tracking with achievements and sadly no online leaderboards... all these for $1.99

Sonic Generations 3DS - A huge dose of nostalgia that's short, but entirely sweet. Missions & unlockables, as well as the online battles extend play life & are pretty sweet.

Pros: The entire concept of the game, very faithful to the classic games (minus the Classic Sonic homing attack), great online multiplayer, awesome unlockables, epic 3D effect.

Cons: Short game, inability to toggle Classic Sonic's homing attack on or off, Special Stages on Online Multiplayer which is literally a contest to see who can press the boost button first which many players exploit to increase their online score.

Rating: 8.5

Super Mario 3D Land - Beautiful graphics, addictive gameplay and surprisingly high replay value. I get very frustrated with platformers, though, so I give it a 8/10
Super Street Fighter 4:3D Edition - My second favourite game on the DS! The static backgrounds are a huge disappointment - they really ruin the game for me sometimes(yes I know that this may sound like a nitpicking, but it really frustrates me) - 8,5/10
Resident Evil:Revelations - My favourite game on the 3DS so far! It's beautiful, addictive, full of content! The main reason that I like this game is the controls - they are perfect! Using the gyroscope in Raid Mode is so fun! - 9/10
Legend of Zelda - Ocarina of Time - A lot of you guys are probably going to hate me for this, but this game is my least favourite game on the 3ds that I own. Don't get me wrong - I like the atmosphere, the puzzles, the bosses, but I feel that its gameplay and some aspects of the controls feel kind of outdated to me. I know this is practically an old game, but I feel that they coud have polished it more. I won't give it a rating, because I haven't finished it yet. I may change my opinion after I finish it.

Dragon Crystal:
Nice little pick up and play RPG that is different enough each time to warrent several playthroughs. With the save states its easy; but, playing it legitimately makes it easy to die. very fun 9/10.

A few games that haven't been mentioned much and/or I really enjoyed them:

Tales of the Abyss
: Best game on the 3DS period! Great characters, awesome story, and a gnarly battle system. One of my favorite video games!

Blazblue CS: II:
Really good game with a lot of content. You can't use the circle pad though and playing a fighter with the small 3DS d-pad gets very annoying after a while. This ruined the game for me :/

Samurai Warriors: Chronicles: This is the best launch title, and still one of the better games out for 3DS. Great game with loads of content, very challenging!

Art Style: Pictobits: If you even slightly like puzzle games you need to have this! When I first played this, it was similar to when I first discovered Tetris. Great music too.

Dead or Alive Dimensions: This is the best fighting game on 3DS currently. The graphics are amazing and there is a ton of content to be found.

Devil Survivor Overclocked: Up to par with Tales of the Abyss in my book. If you like SRPGs or epic SMT stories you have to play this. It has loads of content and it's very challenging. Devil Survivor 2 is also amazing and a little easier.

Resident Evil Revelations: This is such a good game. Raid mode alone makes this a worthy purchase. It is the best RE game in the series IMO. Great story, graphics and replayability.

Default Pilotwings Resort

Pilotwings Resort is a game that holds its own weight with its well thought missions and laid back and fun gameplay. However, many opportunites were missed in the game such as an online mode and Streetpass functionality. Then again, this was a 3DS launch title. It is worth your time, but not your worth your $40. Luckily, this game is now being sold at $20. Well worth its current price.

Overall final grade: B-

Pokemon Rumble Blast:
A game that is fun at the start, but soon gets very repetitive. Very uncreative use of StreetPass, and by the time you are able to recruit a partner, you probably won't need them. Has a somewhat good story, and the Battle Royales are as exciting as ever. Unfortuately, as stated before, the game gets very repetetive, and unlike KI:U, the game doesn't really find a way to make the formula work. Even Pokemon fanatics like me might not appreciate the game. Only buy this game if you are a hardcore Pokemon fan or enjoyed the first Pokemon Rumble.

Overall grade: 6/10

Tekken 3D Prime Edition:

This game is only for the biggest of Tekken fans who are excited over the idea of having portable fights between their favorite characters....cause truthfully...that's all your getting here. The only modes are Quick Battle (fight 10 opponents in a row), Survival Mode, and local/online multiplayer. It really is a shame they don't have more modes because EVERYTHING ELSE is very polished. Graphics are great, game runs at 60 frames (even with 3D on), roster is HUGE with 41 of Tekken's best. If only more modes could have been added. I'm enjoying it right now, but I'm certain it won't have heavy longevity.

6.5/10

Ok, besides that, it's fun, the story is great, the characters are likable, music is great, and it's a great port. However, the graphics looks dated.

Nintendogs + Cats: Nintendo could have done a lot more to this game, like making it possible to use all rooms of a whole house plus garden, visiting your friends pets instead of just street passing others, sure you can take street passed pets to the park but that's about it, although after that you also meet them on walks and sometimes their owners give you gifts. Nintendo could have added a lot more toys and special items too, even if they were aquired through spotpass.

The obedience trial is a bit of a pain, you have to use the AR card to do it, so don't lose it if you like this competition! I was also not amused that you can now get so many dog breeds and 3 cat types but can only adopt 6 pets in total, now that's a down grade! But the pets have so much cuteness, that makes the game awesome, the dogs seem so alive that looking back at the original nintendogs they look almost robotic, lifeless, fake, and when I first got nintendogs on the ds it seemed so amazingly advanced!

Going on walks is now more interesting, it's not all planned out from the start, you can choose different places to go such as the cafe or the park, or the beach park which teaches your dogs to run fast over sand for the newly added sand pits in the disc competition. The lure course is easy enough. The dogs are all very different both in looks and personality, there are so many different coat types now that every ones dogs will most likely look different, there are white versions of each breed which are harder to find in the kennels, but if you want one it's worth refreshing the pups to find it! There are more shops, and you can now buy furniture which is kinda cool, but the room styles you can purchase could be better, or at least, there could be more. You can unlock all the breeds within around 2-3 weeks, the thing that keeps me coming back over a year later is the cuteness, the cuteness wins, and the 3d really brings the pups to life even more, I love this game, the graphics are pretty cool too, and I loved it enough to take 2500 photos of it haha, which are here: :P
Pictures by skyejessiephoebe - Photobucket

LoZ: Oot- As a kid I had an amstrad and an amiga, then a pc with windows 95, simpler days haha, so I never played the legend of zelda until it came to the ds, I played phantom hourglass and wasn't overly fond of it but I got to the end, I think haha, it was a while ago :P So when ocarina of time came out for 3ds I ummed and ahhhed, but I'm glad I bought it, the graphics are lush, they did a good job on it, I spent hours on this game and was so sad to see it end I still haven't done Ganons castle! Epona has nice form, more horse shaped than blockish, Link looks fantastic, the game itself is addictive, trying to figure out how to progress, and in the right order, can take some time without guidance, but it's all part of the fun. Link can move freely around the world, I always liked this in games, and games that have you on one set course without one iota of free movement are games I really try to avoid, this one has enough free movement to keep me playing to the end, even if the goal will always be the same, it's awesome, I love it!

If only all 3ds games had as much thought put into them, most of my favorite games are older ones, there seemed to be a lot more effort put into them instead of just rushing them out for sales targets. If creatures 2 or 3 ever comes to the 3ds I'll be in heaven! But that's a hopeless dream to say the least :/

Asphalt 3D-
This game (alongside with Ridge Racer 3D) was the 3DS' launch racing game. This in itself doesn't seem too promising but the fact that it's just a port of Asphalt 6 on iOS with more content added doesn't help the situation either. However, if you want an unrealistic, fast-paced, arcade racer then by all means, play away!

To be truthful, this game is not really worth anything more than 20 USD/30 AUD/15 GBP, but if you can find it at these prices or less, and am looking for a good racer to pass some time, then it is definitely worth it! You will have to accommodate yourself with the countless minor glitches first though! The replays especially are bugged, not showing some police that may have appeared which can really spoil a good watch of a race. In the long run though, no glitches significantly hinder your gameplay.

Probably the biggest disappointment with Asphalt 3D is the Drift Challenge and the Cash Attack. These do not require you to come first at all, just finish the last lap with a certain amount of drift points/money. This means if you get to the last lap and don't have enough, you can turn around, drive back to a point, turn back around and continue on getting your drift points/money up. Luckily there aren't that many of these in the game compared to the other races.

All in all, if you can pick up this game at or lower than the prices I stated before, and you want a good arcade racer with nice 3D effects and a good 20 hours + to 100% it, then I would recommend it. If not, then you are better off paying full price for a game like Need For Speed: The Run. But that's another story!

Been awhile since I checked this thread. Love everyone's thoughts so far

Kid Icarus Uprising

Overall really fun, beautiful, and especially entertaining game. Character dialogue is always funny and humourous. There really never is a dull moment in this game's story. Like watching a TV cartoon series even to some extent.
And you won't believe how many times the 4th wall is hit in this game.

Gameplay wise, this game has quite a large learning curve. Literally, it took me hours on end to get the hang of this game's controls. This game is really hard though. Thankfully there's the whole intensity system thing. But I haven't gone on without dying on anything above 5 intensity. Once you do get the hang of things, you'd be able to take things worldwide with Together mode (multiplayer mode). There's no lag at all online for me even though my internet speed moves like a snail; however, I have experienced some delay though. There's also local multiplayer; however, every person playing will need a copy of the game seeing as how there is no download play unfortunately.

As a bonus there are even Augmented Reality cards which this game comes with. With this you can take augmented reality photos, and even have your card battle it out with each other. While this has quite a novelty value, the fights don't really go anywhere farther than that seeing as it's just a bunch of random clashing effects and sounds until one of the card runs out of hitpoints. There's not really much in it from there. This game also comes with a stand for your 3DS. playing this game for long periods of time can really hurt your hand and make it feel sore after awhile so I guess that's what it's for.

This game is really packed with a lot. You really gotta hand it to Sakurai, he sure did work his butt off with this game and never seems to disappoint(so far). If your a 3ds owner looking for some fast paced brawling, shooting action and want a bit of humour in it, then I'd definitely recommend this to YOU! Just brace yourself for the rather large learning curve though.

Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D

Truly a timeless classic this is. Though this is the first time I'm finishing it since I was ALOT younger around the time of the original game for N64 and I wasn't as smart as I am now.

Anyways, this is still a great game. Graphics have improved tremendously, though I still think they could've been even better. Apart from being greatly changed visually, not much else has changed. Actually, everything else would seem to be almost exactly the same as the original. I'm not sure if that's meant to be a good thing or a bad thing but I personally am not bothered by it. The game's story is exactly as I remember it (well, the whole bit I covered at least). Everything has literally staye the same. The music hasn't changed too. While I don't think of this too negatively, I actually really like that they didn't change any of these masterpieces, but it would have been nice to have a couple of the songs remastered or something like that.

There is; however, the all new ocarina of time master quest. This mode is the whole game again, but there's a catch. The whole game, apart from the text of course, is mirrored and also a lot harder. So say there were an enemy ehich you could kill in one hit. Now they'd be much harder to kill and may have a few new tricks up it's sleeve. Unfortunately for people who have already originally finished the game before, you'll need to play the whole game again before you can actually embark on the master quest.

I'd highly recommend this game to both people who have already played this game before on the original n64 version and also to newcomers to this game, or even to this series/franchise. Seriously, it's that great of a game

I thought the reviews were short, not long. Anyways...

Kid Icarus: Uprising - The graphics are amazing, the gameplay is great, online is fantastic, and it has the best music in any Nintendo game (With Skyward Sword). The controls felt a lil weird though. It takes some time to get use to.

9.3/10

Hehe, sorry I tend to get ahead of myself. But really the length doesn't really matter I guess. All I really want to hear from this thread are people's thoughts.

Kid Icarus: Uprising
I really shouldn't have to write anything here. Chances are, you've already bought it, beaten it, and formed your own opinions of it. If you haven't, I could easily just end the review here and say, "Well, you should." But no, I won't. You guys want to hear my opinion of it, and that's what you'll get. In short? Damn near perfect. The controls aren't anywhere nearly as bad as everyone says, the gameplay is fast and fluid, the story and writing are top-notch, and it has nearly endless replay value. A true masterpiece.

Nintendogs + cats

The graphics have gotten a massive upgrade from its predessecors and look really gorgeous. Your room, the place where your dog is usually at when at your nintendog home, has gotten a massive upgrade. you can customize the room a lot more now with furniture as well. Though furniture options are sort of limited. The room itself is much better now when compared to that of the DS version. Going out for a walk has been greatly improved and has a lot more depth to it. Streetpass works well too yadda yadda yadda. This game got a little boring for me after a couple months though.

Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance (yes played the Japan version)

Graphics: Best in the series, although sometimes the environments looks pixelated, But they look like Birth By Sleep.
Sound: The music and sound effects are excellent, and like the Fantasia world is really cool. It's music and sound effects but NO voices
Story: It will be confusing if you didn't play RE: Coded or KH2, other than that it's great.
Features: It's crazy, you bounce of walls to do abilites and such. Check the E SHOP for a demo of the game.

Opps,

Content: A LOT of it, there is a challenging secret boss and you can fight bosses on steroids basically, they have more HP and do more damage and such.

Lego Batman 2:

Graphics great representation of the classic lego series style. The characters and environments look good and animations are good.

Gameplay: Great, follows the classic lego formula, no open world but the mechanics are time tested and still good. The play styles of the characters are different enough to add some play time. The justice league challenges end up being a slog. The puzzles are simple and the camera is fantastic, the controls are spot on. Also dlc characters like night wing are not just re skins and play like they should.

Longevity: Great, lots of characters and secrets to find, I have played 12 hours and I am 50% complete. So the game can last if you want to find everything available. This version along with the ds wii and vita has the most characters containing all dlc and all characters plus exclusives.

Verdict: 7.7/10

Must by for dc and super hero fans, a solid light hearted action game for the 3ds. Must buy for kids into super heroes.

Colors 3D: A 3D drawing tool with a smooth drawing platform and 3D layering. A very easy-to-use drawing platform for the 3DS. With the online gallery, it's fun to share drawings and look at other people's work.

Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition
Basically the same game on the console, only portable. The lack of the Arcade Edition characters sucks, but overall it's still pretty good. I wouldn't recommend the 3D effect, though. It adds nothing and cuts the framerate in half. After turning it off in the options menu and seeing it run at a silky-smooth 60 frames per second, there's no going back.

I agree with most of what was said here. However, playing the game in 30fps is not bad at all. However, it does look better at 60fps. Yet running it both ways, the game is fully enjoyable.

And about the 3D effect, that's entirely subjective. For some, the effect is great and adds a cool dept to the fights. For others, it adds nothing. Its relative.

Resident Evil Revelations
This game was designed to be a scary return to Resident Evil's horrifying atmosphere from past games, but instead was a boring showcase of everything the 3DS can do with a ridiculous storyline. Sort of like a Resident Evil version of Luigi's Mansion. It looks gorgeous, but that's about it. Still, that fog effect was pretty awesome in 3D!

Well it isn't helpful and it makes people wonder why you think that way. I disagree, I think its a nice, cheap little Temple-Run style game where you try to get as far as you can and avoid obstacles. (The controls are vastly different than Temple Run however)
It's cheap, it is easy to pick up and put down and its a nice little Ipod-esque game in the eShop.

This sounds like a review of the Revelations DEMO! LOL

The fog effect was more noticeable in the demo. They made it less obvious in the full game. This review also reminds me of all those anime ppl that take every chance to bash all of Dai Sato's work after he worked on Cowboy Bebop. According to them, he never made anything better than that series (writing it).

And the old games were horrifying? Tsk I dunno about that. The previous RE games weren't particularly scary or had a great story either. But it was okay because the games were based on low grade B movies of the horror genre. The zombies were already generic movie monster back in the mid 90's and hardly anyone found them scary. The B.O.W.'s? Based on the creatures from Rob Bottin and who made a big impact back in the days with The Thing (1982 version).

Kid Icarus Uprising review:

This is Sakurai's gem, surpassing even the SBBM. Gameplay here is fantastic and the storyline is pretty nice, even though it doesn't take itself too seriously. The depth of the game is just unimaginable, it has so many weapons and powers. Online is also fantastic, but it lacks modes. The game is fresh with several innovative things such as the difficulty system, which let's you choose from 90 modes. All in all this game is a masterpiece.

This game recieves a perfect score of 10/10

Good comparison, but I actually like the original Resident Evil games, and I don't think some of the newer ones are too horrible. I just don't like the direction they're going. That's why I was excited for Revelations--it sounded like the perfect combination of the action in RE5, and the scariness that made RE4 so brilliant.

And the old games were horrifying? Tsk I dunno about that. Maybe not all of them, but RE4 is one of the scariest games ever made. I was kind of hoping for a similar experience from this one. The previous RE games weren't particularly scary or had a great story either. But it was okay because the games were based on low grade B movies of the horror genre. ^in the quote are my responses.

I'm not trying to bash the game, I was just trying to keep it short and simple. I don't hate it, but I don't regard it very highly with others in the series, which is saying something when you consider some of the other Resident Evil games Capcom's crapped out lately.

No, I don't think you were trying to bash it. But it's just that because I'm familiar with the series, I actually thought that there were quite a lot of improvements made in Revelations. Especially because the series strayed quite a lot since RE4 and RE5.

For instance, Revelations went back to the slow corridor skulking that the series was famous for.

And I have to disagree with what you said about RE4. It was a great game. But it wasn't particularly scary or terrifying. Not when you had Leon being portrayed as a fugitive from The Matrix with ninja skills and with ammo thrown at you from every direction. It had great action, but I don't think that game had a single unsettling moment that was as memorable as the Mayday-mayday sequence that was included in Revelations. That sequence actually was like a homage to the famous file from RE1. The "itchy, tasty" one. Maybe you remember it.

It was IMO, a move in the right direction. But unfortunately, current tastes in gamers skew toward action shooter games and this is why games like Operation Raccoon City ( a truly bad game) can sell well. Because it caters to that crowd. And lets face it, RE6 is more of RE5 but to the extreme. Such is life.

Fun game, the graphics look nice, but alot like the wii version. Collecting coins is overly addicting and fast paced. Coin rush also really adds an adrenaline rush in collecting coins.

For instance, Revelations went back to the slow corridor skulking that the series was famous for. I know, but all the buildup would always be for something moderately disappointing. Most of the time, you'd be expecting something to jump out at you, but it usually wouldn't happen. When the creatures would jump out at you, it was totally expected.

Now, I haven't played RE4 in a while, but there are a few key moments I remember perfectly. I was quite surprised when that village guy came running at you with an ax. That sequence actually was like a homage to the famous file from RE1. The "itchy, tasty" one. Maybe you remember it.

I was hoping it would be something more, but the commercials portrayed it as an action game. I thought I was imagining things, but it someone else sees it as well, I've been convinced that I'm not crazy, and I no longer want to be disappointed by Capcom, so I will just not give myself the chance to be disappointed.
^once again, in the quote

Thank you for helping me see the light in regards to Resident Evil 6!

3D Classics Excitebike:

A really fun game if you like racing, It gets hard at first but once you get used to it you will be having a blast. The only thing missing is racing against someone using online and/or 3ds download play.

Nano Assault

Great visuals paired with amazing gameplay and sound makes this game good in design, but the problem is that there is a lack of modes and not enough content to recommend at full retail price. And with an E-Shop version with more modes coming to us in the future under the name of Nano Assault EX. So I would recommend that anyone should wait until that release.

I don't feel like looking through the pages but how is Mighty Switch Force? I have $6.81 left over from purchasing New Super Mario Bros 2 and don't find any other game interesting besides Sonic Triple Trouble or Super Mario Land. As far as gameplay and images, it doesn't look that bad except for it does look somewhat redundant; then again, what platformer isn't.

It has the same crappy gameplay style as the original Pokemon Rumble, it doesn't have any new content other than the 3DS features and it's pretty much a game where you spam the A button to win.

Now, if you like it, good, more power to ya. I just find the Rumble series to be the worst Pokemon spin-off series, even worse than My Pokemon Ranch (which i know it's not a series, but still).

KH: DDD review:
DDD is a really great game, and it's completely worthy of its KH title, however it suffers from some issues. Drop is somewhat poorly handled, and some bosses are just down right cheap. However, the pros outweigh the cons, and the result is yet another awesome game for the 3DS. It's not as good as the legendary KH:II, but it offers a great experience for veterans and newcomers alike. But newcomers must keep in mind: you won't understand most of the story.

New Super Mario Bros. 2

the game is a great addition to the series and is very enjoyable for those looking for a solid 2D Mario platformer. For those of you who want something totally new and none of the above, this isn't exactly the best thing for you.

The game has some rather clever level design, a new-ish story where *spoiler(not really)* Princess peach is kidnapped yet again, some new power-ups, coin rush mode, and some new worlds to play in. This game has (if I'm not mistaken) 9 worlds: 6 main ones and some special ones. Visually, the game is almost if not exactly the same thing you've seen on the wii. From character models, backrounds, etc. Most of the music is also reused with an added layer of vocals (the "nahs"/"bahs"/"dahs"/whatever you wanna call them) and some other things added in. Not much of an OST, huh.

The new coin rush mode is a great addition, having you finish levels with a lot less time, trying to collect as many coins as you can, beating your own records, or people you may streetpass with. A nice addition, but it won't keep you going unless you like to try for best records time and time again.

There's also a co-op multiplayer mode resembling closely to that of the wii with one player as Mario, and the other as Luigi. No Toads included. Though you'll need to copies of the game which I think is a real let down. So I haven't been able to try this with anyone.

Overall I've quite enjoyed this game so far.

Alright, I'm gonna do Zelda OOT 3d review now.

In terms of gameplay, everything is the exact way you remember from the original. The graphics are improved in different ways, but it still has that N64 feel. Very little has been changed, and the things changed are small enough that they won't be noticed. Along with that, there is Master Quest to look forward to, and even a Boss Rush mode! Who doesn't love that? If you have never played this game in your life, then get it. You will be glad you did.

9.75/10

Better than Super Mario Bros 2 (NES) or NSMB2 (3DS)?

I was going to download the demo for this game, but chose not to after hearing all the negative opinions about this 3DS port. I already owned the PS3 version as well.

Nonetheless, it is nice to hear some people like the 3DS version as well.

I'm still a little dissappointed it has taken them this long to get it out, and I hear the quality (and content) is lower in it. I will still buy it anyways.

What would you rate the Rayman Origins 3ds versus any other 3ds game. How would you rate it compared to the other versions of Rayman Origins?

Fractured Soul
e-shop game

- Very very (let me add one more) very CHALLENGING platformer game with a twist of puzzle+action (megaman-ISH style)
- Online leaderboards - I challenged anyone who plays this to beat my record there!

- for $11.99, it's worth it for an eshop game, why?

* Because it is so addicting to beat someone's record in the leaderboards, already played 22 hours in my 3DS (next to Sakura Samurai which is 14 hours of playtime), i just love playing speedruns ... btw i think it has 30 stages + 6 bonus levels

* Because this is the game you can't play on psp, vita, iphone, ipad, other smartphones... maybe it can be ported to big screens like pc, ps3, or xbox... but the impact of dual screen gameplay mechanic in a portable device like 3DS is just so frantic.

* Because if you are one of those SPEEDRUNNERS and those LONGING FOR A VERY INTENSE DIFFICULT GAME... this is a perfect game for you... i'm not kidding...

Mario & Sonic At The London 2012 Olympic Games

I love Mario & Sonic, With them both together in one game based on the London 2012 Olympics, and in 3D, It was great, overall it was as challenging as all the other previous titles in the Series, but this one seemed to be a bit more virtual for all the portable system releases. With Gyro controls in Archery Team, It was like playing the Wii version. One of my favorite 3DS games to date.

Kid Icarus: Uprising
It's a brilliantly designed game. The game has come back after the pixelated version around 20 years ago (as Medusa said). It's a movie-like game with an interesting storyline and fun gameplay. I would recommend it if you don't already own it! It has land and sky battles, too. It's one of the best games out there!

Talking Ncis 3d

I actually enjoyed this game. Reminds me of the CSI games I played on the Nintendo DS. Does use the 3D and other 3DS bells ans whistles well, you take pictures, etc. The spoken parts are all done by text, which is OK - most Nintendo DS games were done this way. Graphics are nice but not earth shaking, mostly still pictures. The gameplay is easy - decisions are made and crime scenes examined for clues. There is tutorials and a help system if you get stuck. I liked the story and found myself drawn into it. If you are a fan of the show or like who-done-it CSI style games this one should please you. For a new game I found the price very attractive - I do hope lots more games like this one are released for the 3DS.

that lego star wars game when the 3ds first came out
complete crap. it was really hard trying to get 100% complete, becuz i could stop going to sleep. i literally, mean this. its not a joke at all.

dead or alive dimensions
okay-ish i guess, but i cant talk to anyone online. should have been $20 though.

zelda ocarina of time
just as exciting as the n64 one, but i quit after i realized i needed the eye of truth shortly after i beaten that invisible boss anyway. i totally thought that temple was just a hard part, i didnt know i needed the eye of truth. i also remember i could have put that opona glitch online and probably been the first to do it, but didnt feel like it. mostly becuz you dont keep the other horse anyway.

Mario Tennis Open:
Mario isn't always known best for their sports games, but this one was alright. The problem is tha it's a little repetitive, and gets extremely boring in the tournament matches when you have to play like 6 matches versus one opponent for the final match of the tournament. That means four points 6+ times! You have to get 24 points total for only 6, and sometimes it goes over! It's repetitive at times, but can be fun. I, personally, like the special games. They're fun. Customization is great, and the special minigames are fun.
TOTAL: 7.5\10

I believe this thread deserves a revive!

Mighty Switch Force!

Aside from the annoying girly voices of the characters (especially when they announce the title or die), the game is quite enjoyable. Great puzzle platforming that can require a bit of thought at times. Free DLC was added in the form of extra levels for those who worry about the game's length. 3D is nice. Worth getting for inexpensive, 3DS puzzle-platforming.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a great game for the family. The controls of the game is very simple and has two sets of control to choose from. The story of the game is simple, Mario/Luigi has to save the princess. Your journey from castle to castle gets harder and harder. Coin Rush is a great addition to the game as it challenges you to get every coin in a short amount of time. The DLC for this game are better than I expected. Overall i give this game a 8.5/10 as the 3d effect isn't that great and the game could've had more levels etc. Too long?

Professor Layton: Miracle Mask

This fifth entry of a game that is essentially Sherlock Holmes meets logic puzzles is a great 3DS title. Puzzles vary from very easy to fairly difficult. Very good graphics, especially for buildings. Excellent 3d; really did a great job at bringing the game to life, so to speak.

Story was a pleasure to play through, better than Lost Spectre and possibly better than the Unwound Future, my personal favourite. Inferior to Unwound Future when it came to mini-games, however. The fact that collecting more Picarets unlocks more features, along with the free, downloadable daily puzzles for a year, serves as a good incentive to continue playing the game after beating it. Highly recommended, my 3DS GOTY.

Everything great about Paper Mario, with a different feel. Long game with challenging puzzles.

They could of done so much more with the sticker idea though.

Harvest Moon: A New Beginning

Recommended for those who are into Animal Crossing but want more human interaction. It's probably one of the best Harvest Moon game that I've played. It sucks graphic wise but the gameplay sorta cover it.

Resident Evil-Revelations Demo version.

It's short, sweet, and sexy. Kind of like Snooki minus the smell of last nights alcohol and cigarettes. Visually it looks great on the 3ds. The controls are smooth and the mission is a lot of fun. Could have been longer in this reviewers opinion, but it's hard to argue when you're gunning down baddies and slammin' herb sandwiches. The developers created an option to change the intensity of the 3d effect on top of the slider that's manufactured on the handheld console itself. Which is really great, I personally was able to utilize the 3D effect on it's highest setting and it makes great use of the effect. Two thumbs up from me, would be three but I only have two.

I truly recommend everyone who has access to wifi to download this demo. And I'm sure once you have a taste of this demo you'll want the main course and find yourself at your local gaming shopping spot to purchase the full version.

Game on gamers!

Mario Kart 7

Gameplay-wise, nothing besides the addition of flight and underwater travel has been added, through the use of hanggliders and a propeller on the back of the car. Karts are made through selecting a body, a tire set, and a hangglider. Each part effects the stats of the Kart. The Super Leaf, Fireballs, and Lucky 7 are the new items. Online play is very smooth, and you'll always find races very quickly. Streetpass and Spotpass are used to download Ghosts. (PS, there are 4 new racers, and 3 of them are yellow, lol.)

Mario Kart 7 gets a 4/5.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

A must-buy for 3DS users who are also Zelda fans. The graphics are brilliant and the 3D adds depth to that. The soundtrack is also wonderful. And also, if you have played the original OoT on N64, this 3DS version will make you feel nostalgic. How they managed to make a timeless game new and refreshing is really amazing.

Style Savvy: Trendsetters
This video game is for girls (males play this game but there is no male character to play as) who, instead of wanted to make fashion, sell it. The original game was just selling clothes for fun, but now you can learn more about fashion, the game even has a built in fashion dictionary, so you know all the fashion vocab! You will open a boutique, sell and stock fashion (the fashion you buy for stock automatically is yours) and enter fashion contests!

Wonderful gaming experience, changed my view entirely on fashion. I give a 9/10!

Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars

Gameplay: First off I'll admit a bias, I absolutely love turn based strategy games. They're like chess; develop your pieces, find a weakness and exploit it all the while responding to your opponents plans. And that final point is the key thing, there has to be back and forth, the enemy should be a threat, going about its own contrary mission. That is the flaw in this game I think, the AI is a little weak, likewise the difficulty. There are a lot of great mission where you have to do something only to see a bucket load of enemies show up, but rather the enemy always feels to be on the defensive, even when the objective suggests otherwise. In terms of strategic options though this game excels; different classes with alternate equipment, utilizing cover and command powers.

Presentation: Nice. Some cool videos and nice chapter breaks in the form of news reports. In game looks functional, but that is all that's really required for this genre.

Longevity: Campaign is a decent length.Starts off a challenge so will take more than one try on the harder difficulties but you'll be flying through later missions. No online play is big miss.

Overall: Solid, nothing overly exciting or innovative. A fan of the genre like myself will enjoy it. 7.5/10

I'll put my two cents in on Super Mario 3D Land.

Gameplay: It's a Mario platformer, so great fun and utterly addictive with plenty of little secrets. A handful of levels are seriously tricky, perhaps on par with Super World or Land 1, but the majority are quite easy. Very few (can be counted on one hand) take more than one play through to get all 3 coins. The Secret World was a stroke of genius though; time attack levels and Shadow Mario chasing you makes for some of the best Mario gameplay full stop in my books, unfortunately it takes until then for things to really kick into gear.

Presentation: The game looks great no doubt about that, and the 3D really makes the final Bowser fight into the most epic of the entire franchise.

Longevity: Only going off my first play through. I think even without the level skips I think you can 100% New Super Mario Bros in a fraction of the time it takes to complete this. Regardless both of these games can be picked up after a month or so, played again and you'll have a blast. That's the beauty of Mario; familiarity doesn't spoil the fun.

Overall: Right now; I'd be hard pressed to not include this in my top 3 Mario games, it may just edge New Super Mario Bros sitting behind 64 and World.

Cheers,
Lee

Rhythm thief:

The concept of what seems to be layton X Rhythm Heaven actually works quite well. the rhythm games are enjoyable though some are quite similar to one another and some don't really control very well. the story is interesting as well. There was quite a lot of text in the beginning and less rhythm games which made me a little uninterested at the start, but that changed after awhile. Some of the english voices sound a little rusty. The game has a lot of hidden things to find. One thing i didn't really like about the game was that it would tell me the exact location of something i had to find or somewhere i had to but moreso to the former. It made these parts seem more like errands to me, and this happened a lot through the game. Also hidden objects are also usually found just by madly tapping every part of the screen. this got a bit boring and pointless after awhile. It may seem like there is more good than bad from what I've said, but this has been a rather memorable game and I highly recommend it to those who enjoy both professor Layton and Rhythm heaven.

Also one more thing. Sometimes I felt like some of the rhythm games went too fast and didn't give you enough time to react to signals to do something. I'd usually find myself getting a D rank the first time running through a song.

Gunman Clive

Great 2D platformer shooter One can play as either Clive, whose on a mission to save his girlfriend/fiance, or vice versa (feminists rejoice!) The fact that the two characters control differently, along with the fact that there are 3 difficulty settings, make this game well worth the $2 asking price.

Denpamen: They Came By Wave

Think I've had enough time with this game to give it a fair review.

Gameplay: This is a dungeon crawling RPG, which for me was initially a turn off. Thankfully they get the balance between carrot and stick just right, dungeons start off easy hook you and then ease you into the challenge. Sometimes you get caught off guard and take a serious beating but a little tweak of your party and your back in business. And this is where the game separates itself from the crowd, there are limitless characters to be caught in an AR game and whilst you can only give them 1 piece of equipment and clothing, you can have 8 characters in your party at a time. So there is a hell of a lot of options.

Presentation: The Denpamen are ridiculously cute/ creepy, some of the enemy designs, inspired. Dungeon layouts are simple but nice, and the music suitably pikmin-esq. Speaking of Pikmin watching your party swarm in all at once to attack is amazingly satisfying and shows how suited this hardware would be.

Longevity: I'm 10 hours in, I guess the main quest could be complete in 20. But getting all of the powers will take longer, and the way you go about collecting them makes this a enjoyable endeavor.

Overall: Top notch, and at ?7 an absolute bargain.

Cheers,
Lee

Resident Evil: Revelations
Revelations is a great game. I haven't played much of the series so I can't compare it with the other games, but still, I find the story easy to follow, if you read the notes around the ship, and interesting. You never know what you'll find out in the next episode. I was shocked many times throughout the game and left speechless through some cutscenes. The game is indeed a horror title. Its especially scary when you feel overwhelmed from the B.O.W.
Raid mode is also a solid multiplayer feature that will keep you playing for some time after finishing the campaign.

Score: 9/10
I give it a 9 as I've experienced some lagging in places like elevators.

*Initiates yet another revival of this thread*

Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins

Lego City... in 3D! The effect, while not the best I've seen on the 3DS, certainly helps emerse one into the city.

Lego City, a city divided. Despite being an open world game (the 2nd such game for the 3DS), it is nonetheless cut into sections which are unlocked as one advances through the stories. Unfortunately, while the game differs to the Wii U sequel insofar as the latter has no such divisions, it remains similar in that it has load times when going from one section to another.

Lego City, a city of adventure... There are a lot of things to do, as collectibles, unlockables and tasks remain scattered throughout the city. Finding such items is made easier with the help of a device shaped suspiciously like the Wii U's gamepad. While the storyline is not very long (8-10 hours), the many tasks to do, along with the awards obtained from doing them (unlock new costumes, vehicles, &c.) give the game additional gameplay value.

Not without its flaws, this game remains the best open-world 3DS game for the time being.

The lagging in elevators is equivalent to a load screen. Instead of making you wait on a load screen everything is loaded in the elevators. It makes you feel like everything was loaded when you first started.

Nano Assault EX (3DS eShop)

You're a small ship (nanite, if you please) tasked with collecting DNA while killing every vile creature on cells in so doing. You even encounter large (relatively speaking) bosses at synapses!

The game is stunning graphically; definitely the best looking eShop title.

As far as shooting games go, the game's story is not all that difficult to complete (I know this because I tend to suck at these games). However, it does have arcade, boss battle, and survivor modes to be unlocked, along with new weapons, which gives the game a fair bit more replay value.

It was well worth it for $9.99 CAD, and if you are into these games, the regular price should not deter you from buying it as well.

Hi it's me again. Lets keep this review short.

Animal Crossing New Leaf:

Pros:
-Everything You've come to know and love from the series and MORE!
-Customizability has really been extended from previous entries in the series(you can now cutomize your character with more clothes, you can not cuztomize your house more too)

Cons:
-some fuzzy looking textures. Like for the grass and some animals. At first I though it was maybe to make the animals look furry, but then i noticed the animals mouth was slightly fuzzy too and so was the ground.
- It kind of feels like theyre trying to increase the longevity of the game by forcing you to wait the next day for something to happen or be completed ( Heck I could barely even do anything for the first 2 days because I was forced to wait 2 days before I could get a house.

Though the game has a few annoyances for me, it is still a great game. I haven't even touched any of my other games since I got it.

Myst:

I read the reviews and thought, "it can't really be that bad, I mean I don't care if the graphics are a bit pixelly."

Boy was I wrong, this game has the worst controls I've ever seen. I honestly think the programmers were drunk when they made it because no one in there right mind would make the game like this.

Stay away! This game isn't worth $1, let alone 5 or 10.

Fishdom H2O

Though the method of earning in game cash can be redundant, it's really addictive in it's own right, mostly because you gotta do the "find the item" games a lot to dress up the fish tanks. The game elements are minimal, and there is a small story but that's not the appeal.

The game is beautiful! There's the value, while you do not have much control over the layout of the tanks, you do get to select the fish and the models for the fish are beautiful. Sometimes I'll just let it run and watch the fish in one of the tanks swimming around in full 3D, which I believe is the best aspect of the game. So if you're looking for mindless entertainment, it's a good buy, nothing really hard about it and no real skill is needed to play it. The variety of fish you can put in the tanks is extensive, lots of color too.

Added after 4 Hours 21 minutes:

Zen Pinball

I love real pinball games, and until now all video pinball games have left e wanting, though I do have a small place in my heart for Metroid Pinball. At first glance, it's very colorful and has lots of ramps and elements. That's a huge plus for any pinball game, more targets to skill-shot. However something key to a video pinball game is to capture the feel of the real thing.

Zen Pinball, and all those like it, do the most important thing for video pinball games very well, they feel like a real table. Trick-shots are even possible, as well as skill-shots, the physics of the ball is very realistic. The only thing lacking, and this is a good thing to lack, the ball never gets stuck. Online scoreboards to compare your score world wide is also a huge plus. The 3D effect is well done, though camera angle switching can be a hazard until you get the hang of it.

Honestly, I had to post something about this as I am taking a break from it for a bit.

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3d:

Had a lot of fun with this one. Platformers are some of my favorites and this one was very good. 9/10 if you can forgive the slight frame rate drop sometimes

Fire Emblem Awakening:

A phenomenal JRPG that has a compelling cast of characters, an excellent battle system, and some nice graphics to boot. This is, without a doubt, one of the best (J)RPGs of the year as of now.

Mario Kart 7:

This game does has some criticisms, with some glitches and clear signs of a rushed game being the most prominent complaints. Even so, this is a solid racing 3DS game that any racing fan, or Mario fan for that matter, can enjoy.

Heroes of ruin.

Fun action rpg/ dungeon crawler but very rough around the edges. Combat is more deep than people give it credit for but the story is generic. Worth a shot if you like the demo though. 7/10

i didnt finish it yet but Starship Defense ( dsiware ):

theres not that many people like me, and i can understand why alot of people might think this game is boring, but i like it and it seems like it should get a 4 or 5 of 5. when i rate it, im pretty sure 4 or 5 will be my rating for this game. i dont play it much anymore, and i hate dsiware on a 3ds too, but if your like me, which i also like picross too, then this game should be decent to you. if they upgrade it to the 3ds like airace speed from airace tunnel, then im pretty sure i will get it again.

Pokemon X
pros:
-a new full 3D world to explore(though #D effect is barely enabled)!
-Character customization(though slightly limited)
-Rather expansive amount of content
-Less linear than black/white(whether thats a good thing or a bad thing, its good for me)
-GREAT ONLINE FUNCTIONALITY! BEST OF ANY POKEMON GAME!
-Pokemon Amie(Though I wish it had a bit more depth)
-Easier EV training with Super Training
-very high replayabilty(I've been hooked on this game)

Cons:
-only about 70 new pokemon - the least of any region
-weak aftergame
-ROLLERSKATES ARGH!!! And slightly jerky controls that you do get used to however
-Weak story compared to predecessors that could use A LOT of improvement
-slightly dull, one dimensional characters(wish there was more interaction between characters)
-Constant framerate drops

Also, I was very disappointed with most of the game's soundtrack, especially the gym leader theme. Though some themes, like the rival battle theme, I find really catchy. Furthermore, I can't help but feel like the graphics are nintendo DS quality in some places. idk :\

But overall still a great pokemon game, though i dont think it's better than Diamond/pearl/platinum, it is still a great pokemon game and i recommend it to everybody.

Profesor Layton: Azran Legacies
9/10 easily the best layton game, only 9/10 because puzzles can be a bit repetitive, but there were some new ones i hadnt seen, but the overall story was really good, probably the best out of them all, and there were some pretty big plot twists nearer the end
and i liked how at the end of the credits it tied in Curios Village
id say its a great send off to professor layton, without trying to drag the main series out by making unnecessary extra games

Arrow Mario Party Island Tour

This game was pretty fun. The only problem I had was that the game has completely changed when it comes to the boards and how the board is played.

Pros:
- 80 new mini games.
- Fun to play with friends.
- Only need one game card to play with friends.

Cons:
- Very few characters to choose from.
- There is only one unlockable character.
- The game has completely changed from the last time I played Mario Party. Most of the boards involve racing to the end, unlike previous versions when you collected the most stars.
- Gyro controls are unresponsive at times. I have lost countless mini games that involve gyro controls because it became uncalibrated.

Although there are more cons than pros, it is a fairly fun game. I would not recommend it if you don't have many friends to play locally with, though.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon

Amazing Game. One of my top 5 on the 3DS I think, so far. Love the new map at the bottom and how it kinda tells you where to go, but without dumbing it down. The graphics were great, the new items were great, and the boss battles were tons of fun.

Actually thinking of playing through it again sometime soon, which for me is a huge plus. Haven't felt the urge to play a game a second time through in over a decade.

Great game!

rayman 3d: i had never played the original one, so i get the 3d version when i found a pre-owned cartridge that was selling for 7aud. This is a decent game. not as bad as other people say. BUT! the music in this game made my balls pain. sometimes i even turn off the volume to get rid of the booooriiing music. recommend to get a pre-owned one for this game. not worth to buy a new one unless u r a real rayman fan, IMO.

zelda ALBW: This game is fantastic! It is much better than my expectation. new magic bar did made me feel a little it different from other zelda game, but this is not a bad thing. the only complain is the final boss is abit easier than i thought.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D

Very enjoyable game, with strong hints of nostalgia for old time Zelda fans and a fun adventure for newcomers to the franchise.

Pros:
-In depth story line
-Creative worlds
-Clever puzzles
-Battle controls are superb
-Beautiful soundtrack
-In depth Heart Piece hunt
-Character interaction

Cons:
-Annoying camera angles
-Difficulty cannot be adjusted
-Can be confusing at times
-Missing the Sun song makes it tedious
-Goron knife rip-off

All in all, it was a fun game. It might not be the best game on the 3DS, because I feel for the level of games that were the originals competition were blown out the water, but now that games have in general improved, its not as special as it was on the N64. But, that being said, its still a great game.

Pokemon Y: A great game overall but the postgame is lacking a lot, especially when you compare it to the past games that came out, black and white 2 which had a very large postgame.

Yoshi's New Island-Most disappointing 3DS game I've played on the 3DS. I went into it knowing it wasn't going to be one of my favorites, it didn't look like it was. But it is exactly like the original, the only few new things they add are little gimmicks you only do once or twice in the entire game. The 2 player games are so boring too.

Maybe it is cause it's so much like the original, but it is just SOOOOO boring. I kept telling myself I need to make it to the end of the game before I get rid of it. But that became very hard for me to do before even the end of the first world. I forced myself to get up to the beginning of world 5, but could not bore myself any longer.

Sooo disappointed.

My experience with Yoshi's New Island was the same.

I wasn't expecting to be amazed by it, but I didn't expect it to feel so boring and barely different from the original. I guess you could argue that many of Nintendo's games feel the same as the last game in their series, but I found Yoshi's New Island almost felt like I had played it before, kinda like d?j? vu. So much for calling it Yoshi's "New" Island.

I stopped playing it a month ago out of boredom and haven't bothered to finish it. I still have no interest in finishing it. If I hadn't ever played the original SNES game and the DS one, I probably would have enjoyed Yoshi's New Island more.

A very lackluster or average at best game. 5.5/10.

So Its been a while since I've played RPG games so I wanted to play one for the 3DS and I apparently though of getting this game Fire Emblem Awakening because knowing this is a Nintendo franchise, It couldn't disappoint me and I was 100% right that it didn't.

at first I didn't know how to play the game because this is a combination of tactical role playing game and RPG and so It took me some time to get used to the mechanics. But once I got used to it. Basically you're in a battlefield and the objective is to either defeat the entire army or defeat the commander. You do this by moving your units in such that the spaces they can move are very limited. But that's the tactical part of the game as the game also contains RPG elements where you defeat or fight an enemy, you gain level ups which increases your stats, weapon proficiency etc. There are other things that you can do such as buying weapons, potions etc. But unlike other RPG's your weapons have some limit of use so like when the number of that weapon gets to zero, the weapon brakes and can't be used again.

What makes this game great is the gameplay where you use your tactics and skills to defeat the entire army with very limited army of yours. Also this game has a difficulty level where you can choose from easy to hard. Then there's Casual for people like me who haven't played a fire emblem game before and the classic mode. I should warn you that the moment you're unit dies in classic mode, he can't be used anymore unless he's needed for the game's story.

The one thing that this game does beautifully is the music and the charming characters. The music is so pleasant that I keep humming most of them. As for the characters, they are very charming since each one has a specific class and since you have a limited army, you really will rely on this characters. I have some of my favorites and I love them in every way.

the game also has huge replay value such as DLC, Side Quests and the other difficulty settings and you're all set for a true fun experience.

The only issues I have with this game is its story and don't get me wrong, its not as bad as you think it is as there are times where the story can really touch your feelings, its just that I wish it could have been better. And there are some missions that will make you say why do I need to do this and all.

but other than that Fire emblem deserves a 9/10!!!! and for a 3DS owner, a must have!!!! its one of my favorite 3DS games ever and simply the best 3DS game ever!!!!!!!

I'm sorry if this review took so long but for a game like this, I can't help but explain more of it.

I also recently got Fire Emblem: Awakening and so far I love it too! It's a great game and meshes my two favorite game genres, strategy and RPG, in such a way that you need to use tactics and varied parties to survive. I just beat chapter 6 and so far my only casualty is Kellam, who died in my last battle ;-; I like the story so far and the gameplay is absolutely amazing!

Spy Hunter 3DS

A game that has fared poorly with critics to say the least. At $40, it simply way overpriced for the quality of the product. For $10 (the price I paid for it), however, it might be worth a go.

The game features a main campaign with a good amount of missions, which is a good thing for there is no multiplayer or bonus modes to speak of.

The missions are quite tough, in a mostly fair way. The enemies can be quite ruthless at times. With patience and skill you can deal with them most of the time; however, your car's handling, combined with the fact that getting physically hit by another car will send your car into a nearby wall can make some missions seem a little unfair. One could compare it to Mario Kart in that regard, but at least the vehicles in that game are easier to control. The game does involve a good amount of strategy insofar as you can choose what weapons to have on each side of your vehicle.

All told, the campaign took me about five hours to complete, but someone who is more adept to these games can likely beat it in four hours or less. While there are plenty of different car skins (colours) to unlock and achievements to get, the driving mechanics, combined with the tediousness of some of the missions (particularly the ones in which you must guide a missile) keep me from wanting to keep going back and playing the missions over again the way I did with Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacies or even Steel Diver: Sub Wars.

Tomodachi Life:

Tomodachi Life is a fun distraction for roughly a week before you realize you are literally doing the same thing over and over every single day. It's still an enjoyable game, but it peaks when you first play it and never gets that fun again. It's a poor man's Animal Crossing, and I'm a bit disappointed with it. I spent 20 hours on it, which isn't too shabby, and haven't touched it in days.

Steel Diver: Sub Wars

My first 3DS F2P title, and arguably its first FPS, and a stellar one in both regards.

With only seven single-player levels the game feels lacking in this area, but the addictiveness of its multiplayer more than makes up for it. The single-player missions also have good replay value with 3 difficulty settings and bonuses to dicover and more submarines to unlock should you complete them in a timely fashion.

The online mode gives you the choice of playing against random opponents or ones at a similar skill level. You get points for playing online (based on how well you/your team does) which can be used to buy new subs w/ better crews.

While the price for the full version is a little steep ($10), it is well worth the price for the amount of replay value.

Having never played a submarine FPS before, I have to say it is quite good and will be remembered as one of the new gaming experiences I got to experience on the system.

Tomodachi Life:

Tomodachi Life is a game where you observe and assist the lives of mii's you have put on your island. Its quite fun putting them on your island and seeing what happens, but the interaction aspect with the mii's could have been better. Their problems get repetitive, and the minigames get boring really quick, especially the football one. That isn't to say there aren't some things I enjoyed, a few examples being the concert hall and the Tomodachi Quest arcade game. Tomodachi Life is a fun game, but I don't think it deserves a $40 price tag. If you are still on the fence about getting the game, I suggest you wait for a price drop.

6.5/10

Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D:

A solid port of the Wii version that adds some new features, such as a easy mode where you get an extra heart gauge. If you have never played the original, I highly recommend it, as it is still an excellent platformer.

9.5/10

Mutant Mudds

This is a great platformer! The controls are excellent. It is challenging but doable. The music is really great and there are a lot of tracks. It is really fun to complete a level.

They have continued to release updates with new levels and music years after the game launched. Which have all been really fun and added even more value to a game that was already a steal at 9 dollars. I am almost finished with the new ghost levels and will probably end up with 25-28 hours of playtime.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 9.5/10

With the recent release of Super Smash Bros for the nintendo 3DS and after an entire week of having a game I thought it was time share my thoughts on the game. Being such a long awaited game, it carries a lot of weight with it, having to fulfill so many expectations held by its smash fans. After much delay, does the game deliver? Or is it a smash and miss?

After a weeks worth of time with it, I can't say that I didn't get my moneysworth; however, at the same time I can't exactly say that I got what I wanted. Now don't get me wrong, the core smash gameplay is all there. I couldn't ask for more from it, it's perfect. I believe it to be eons better than brawl's god awful snail pace and quote "more defensive gamestyle" (and yes random tripping is gone!!!). The core gameplay feels like a perfect balance between brawl and melee , albeit closer to brawl, even so smash 3ds feels like a much more fluid and fast-paced game. So apart from smashing, let's talk about what the game has to offer.

First of all to me the game doesn't feel all that extravagant. While waiting for the game's intro to show up, it didn't. It felt a little odd to me since smash is one of Nintendo's biggest game names which celebrates some of its most beloved franchises into one full package, and while this may just seem very nitpicky of me, I was expecting something a little more extravagant. Moving on from that, when you get past the games title screen, you will be greeted by the main menu (well duh). From there you'll notice that the main game modes are divided into 'smash', 'smash run', 'online', and 'games and more'. Now to me, seeing smash run on the front page seemed a bit odd. It was almost as though the creators expected smash run to be one of the places where you spend the most time playing. Which just wasn't the case for me. While smash run is an interesting concept, it isn't enough to hold your attention for long period of time. I just found myself playing it every once in a while. But then I found it would just be left untouched with most of my times booting up and playing the game. The menu itself felt a little bit cluttered on its own.

Smash's traditional solo modes almost appear to have been demoted in terms of importance as they have been reduced to being found in the 'games and more' section. At least that's the impression being put into a sub-category labelled 'games and more' gives me. These modes being your typical Classic mode, All-star(which is unlocked from the start), training, and stadium modes. Classic mode found itself getting a facelift, receiving what resembles an overworld map in between matches which gives you a choice on who you fight next. However the game's classic mode felt a bit shorthanded this time around. Where you'd have your classic Classic battles in previous games, you'd also have things like Target Smash, race to the finish, snag the trophies and more to distract you along the way which are nowhere to be seen in this game's classic mode.

While Sakurai previously stated that the 3DS version of smash would be more geared towards single player play, the lack of an adventure mode or event mode makes the game's content appear very shallow and limited. Just looking at the smash run world makes me feel like the world could have been made into a kickass adventure mode, because the map looks really good.
Well in an attempt to keep this review short, the online mode was decent at best, I was constantly finding 1-on-1 matches with varying durations of input lag with the rare game with practically no input lag whatsoever in the For Glory mode. I couldn't even get into a 4 player online match though because an error message would always prevent me from doing so. And for you graphics enthusiasts out there, the game's graphics weren't bad for a 3ds game, however I do feel that they do not go beyond or consistently close to Brawl's graphics what with less sophisticated hardware found with the 3DS.

So after about 2 years of waiting for it, does Smash bros for the nintendo 3DS stack up with my previous expectations for the game? Unfortunately, no. However it is still a great game in terms of its core smash gameplay especially since it's protable, with a few modes to keep you entertained. I don't see myself not playing this until at least a month from now. Though I do fear that once the Wii U release comes around, the number of people playing this version of the game is sure to decrease. In the end while I do agree with people who say that this game almost feels like a lite version or a demo for the WiiU version of the game, it is not a bad game by any means. I'd recommend the game to anyone whether you're a long running smash fan or someone looking to get into the series. This isn't a bad place to start.

Oh yeah and in terms of character roster and stages, While enormous and the biggest character roster we've seen yet, some of the game's newcomers don't feel iconic enough to be playable characters, making the roster seem less like an A-list cast and more like a B-list cast. However the new additions are very welcomed additions. However stage listing is a bit weak, with a lot of repeats from past games. Some of these repeats aren't even very good stages.

Default short review of a 3DS game

It has some mechanics that need to be learned, but the controls are very user friendly. I played the demo and didn't have to much issue getting the basics of the game down quickly. If you enjoy fighting games, it's worth looking in to.

Gunman Clive 2: Taken Again

Although the game is probably the same length as its predecessor, I found the levels and the bosses to be a good deal harder. Level memorization is a must as the margin of error in certain parts of some levels can be quite small. The lack of checkpoints will ensure you get to know most of the stages quite well. The game also introduces some forward-scrolling stages (? la Starfox/Shinobi mounted stages) which offer some variety and are relatively easy to master.

The graphics are improved thanks to more variety in colours and level design. The soundtrack is also good, although I thought the first game is superior in that regard.

Fans of the first game who are looking for more of a challenge will enjoy what this game has to offer.

Attack of the Friday Monsters

The main game beautiful, lovely, loved the themes, and I thought they reallly connected as other reviewer have not. BUT. I'm a completionist. And episode 4 is doing my head in. It would be a decent card game if they didn't put the odds against you. For example if it's a draw YOU have to go first, and switching cards first always puts you at a disadvantage.. But shouldn't there be like some kind of scissors paper rock to decides who goes first, considering its a draw? And then the blatant comments of your opponents talking about "ESP" it's clear the AI sometimes takes advantage of your situation, and knows what your cards are, despite the hints. I really don't think that's fair gameplay. Sure I could just stop playing it, but that's just not the kind of guy I am. I love completing everything in a game. And random glim drops? That could potentially mean that people (with a bit of bad luck) could never ever succeed at Episode 4. It's a real shame because this game could have had a really nice replay ability scheme but it just puts it down to luck with the odds against you. Simple modifications could make the card game so much better. Maybe it's just my fault for being a completionist, but that doesn't change the fact that having the odds against you in a luck-based situation is unfair. If your not a completionist, or any fan of anime or kaiju, however, this is a beautiful little game.
