Default Rune Factory On 3DS?

The Farming/Dating RPG series could be heading toward the 3DS. Series producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto lets a few tidbits on what we may expect to see.

Right now, many game producers are pondering which of their past and future franchises would work well with the handheld?s 3D display. We?ve seen a couple of producers tackle the subject before, and now it looks like someone from Marvelous Entertainment is wondering if his series is also qualified for 3Dfication.

While being interviewed on Siliconera about his latest sequel to Rune Factory, series producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto briefly tackles the notion about a Rune Factory 3DS iteration. It seems Hashimoto has already conceived how several of the series? defining features, such as farming, would look like with an extra dash of realism thanks to the handheld?s beefier hardware. Interestingly enough, he also insists that the dating mechanic, another prevalent feature, would be ?entirely? in 3D. While Rune Factory is typically a family-friendly series, this still brings to mind a few steamy scenarios.

Rune Factory is a spin-off of the popular Harvest Moon series of games, adding the original title?s emphasis on farming and agriculture while also tossing in a Zelda-style adventure filled with dark dungeons, numerous monsters, and bountiful treasure. There is also a host of characters to interact with, with the ability to court (and eventually marry) one of the many female locales in the village. The latest in the series, Rune Factory 3, has recently been released in Japan and North America, but has yet to receive a European release date.

As usual, sales will ultimately determine whether a franchise will continue on, so if Rune Factory 3 meets its expectations, a sequel (3DS or otherwise) is practically assured. This is why the original Harvest Moon series is on track to receive a 3DS upgrade in the near future. With Rune Factory?s growing popularity, however, it shouldn?t take too long for the spin-off to catch up.

There is very little doubt that Rune Factory will get a 3DS installment in my mind. The only question that really matters is when. I'm also curious if they'll stick with the 2D gameplay of the DS ones or switch to 3D as with console games.

Sounds interesting. I've played Harvest Moon but not Rune Factory, but this is something I'd love to see come to the 3DS.

haven't played it but it looks cool. It seems like one of those games like animal crossing that i will become addicted to and have to play it every day, even against my will. But I'd probably still get it on 3ds.

I haven't played Rune Factory, but Harvest Moon is good at times, and can be frustrating, but I think I would give Rune Factory a shot. I was just thinking of picking up a Rune Factory for the DS.

I hope a Rune Factory comes to the 3DS, and I heard they are pretty popular, so why not?

They're farming Dating SIMS where you farm, build up your house and date like you would in a harvest moon game. The difference is that you also go into dungeons and fight monsters which you can befriend in order to have them help on your farm or give items such as milk, eggs, wool, honey, and etc. I loved Rune Factory Frontier on the wii but I couldn't really get into Rune Factory 1 on the DS. I haven't tried Rune Factory 2 or 3. There's also a game called Rune Factory oceans coming for PS3 and Wii that's got a few changes as far as farming and etc. goes.

Also OP should note that the game comes out in Japan this year but it takes some time for these games to be brought to other regions.

I liked the additional battle elements in Rune Factory, but it still felt slow - at least there were missions to go on to help feel like you're pushing the game along. Still, it could do from some more random events.

Default Rune Factory 4 Thread

Wow! After so long, I'm finally beginning to see some of my favorite titles being announced for release soon this year! For me, this includes Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon, and of coarse, Rune Factory 4.

What does everybody else think/have to say about this game and what you are looking forward to/hoping for?!

Also, pick what you think about the game and series as a whole!

Not to bump this thread, but I also noticed that we might also be getting Fantasy Life here in the west soon.

Does anyone who have played these games know the differences between the two? They sound like they are somewhat similar to me.

It's a combination farming sim, dating sim, and rpg. It was originally a spin-off of the Harvest Moon series.

This game is pretty good, but I've only played it and the first one of this series. I hear from a lot of other people that its pretty bland and really just a rehash of the same old thing. It probably does need a little more substance, but I'm pretty happy with it.

I bought this game about a month ago, still have yet to play it because I've been playing other games (Zelda: Link Between Worlds and Animal Crossing: New Leaf) however for those of you who played this and Harvest Moon: A New Beginning, which one would you say is better? When I got HM I had an extreme addiction to it and played 5 hours a day.

A New Beginning has a notoriously slow start. I've just started and there's not much to do except do a few chores and collect random stuff in the woods.

Rune Factory 4 is better paced since you have both farming and fighting to occupy your day with. It also has a story with side-quests.

Finally triggered the bonus story arc

Having that and the pre-marriage quest in the random Town Events pool was an absolutely terrible decision lmao

I been playing RF4 for about a little over a week now or more, time goes by so quick... I just married Vishnal and I need to do the last arc Rune Prana I believe? It's not activated yet of course. Anyway I absolutely LOVE this game!
