I did and it's pretty good so far. Gameplay is pretty much what I remember and is pretty hectic at times.

I'm a bit thrown off slightly by having Gyro controls and don't want to use them so have turned them off. The problem there is that the camera then zooms way out instead of being near the player. Is there something I'm missing or can you not have a closer view without using Gyro controls?

If it was near the player, how would you see lobs? I am pretty sure there are only 2 control options. I can understand if you want it close if you are being Luma, soo many balls I missed because it just goes by my racket.

the controls suck on this game why do u have to be stuck with gyro controls online and once u pick it up and put it towards your face u are facing ur character and cant see a single thing and it even turns 3d off when it does this i am very dissapointed in nintendo for doing this other than that i like the game so far

I got the game today and it's a lot of fun. Nothing much to say really, it's Mario and it's tennis and if you like those then you'll like Mario Tennis Open.

Now as for the pros and cons: the game looks great, and unlike Mario Kart 7, the menus are modeled in 3D as well which just makes the whole game feel more organic and less cheap. It's very accessible, yet still challenging. Very addicting. The different courts look fantastic and it's great that the replays have the cameras closer to the characters and on the court to let you admire their beauty.

The cons, well, so far I see two main ones. First of all, the online is laggy and in a tennis game, it's just annoying. Not sure if there's anything they could have done to prevent this, and it's still playable, but it really is just annoying. Second of all, the game is simple. Not any more simple than Mario Kart 7 mind you, but knowing that Mario Tennis games used to have an RPG element and a world in which you could walk around makes you regret their absence in this. It would have elevated this game from accessible, addictive fun to something much bigger.

In any event, I don't really hold the fact that it could have been a bigger game against it because it's still just a damn good time and the game looks great. Another solid game in the 3DS' library, another Mario success.

I got this game and I love it, I'm one of the few who prefers the simplexity of it, being more of a skill purist I never really like games where you can become more powerful than your opponent or use some powerful moves. But this feels pretty nice and even, Miis can get pretty powerful, but I haven't encountered an overpowered one yet.

I don't have much lag online, maybe about 1 out of 30 games are laggy, and that's probably more due to the opponent's connection than the game. Other than that, it runs completely smoothly.

I was a bit put off by the reviews, since all of them said that the chance shots made it feel too easy/casual, but honestly, they must've not really known how to use them well. They can easily be used to trick opponents, and they only appear from weak returns, so it actually makes things more skillful and helps players who are clever more than ones who aren't. Of course, it does help beginners as well, but skilled players will get even more use out of them.

The mini-games are genius and extremely addicting, I can play most of them for hours, although the Ink Showdown gets pretty boring because of its slow paced and the fact that once you've returned all 50 balls, there's not really much else to do with it, whereas the others you can try to beat your score. The other mini-games are fantastic though, I think they're some of the best in any tennis games I've played. Galaxy Rally and Super Mario Tennis are genius and so fun to keep playing.

My only complaint is that when the online does lag, it's pretty annoying. The rating system can seem a bit harsh, but I don't really have a problem with it because it's quite generous to me (but that's because I'm a pro )

I've never been a tennis fan... But is it really REALLY good? The only tennis game I've ever liked was the one in Wii Sports, and I pretty much hate all others. Is it worth it? I'm going to Gamestop this weekend and want to know if it's worth every cent.

So I guess if a previous Mario Tennis game was really good, maybe the latest version will be, too. I have a good looking Game Cube in the TV room. What's the price of Mario Power Tennis? If it's cheaper than the new one, I'd rather try a previous version before buying the latest and most expensive version. I watched a few gameplay videos, and the game actually looks good! The reviews for the game are good, too. I have about 4 days left to think about it, because my mom & dad take the car out for work full time, so I can't drive myself there. I wish I had my own car! Plus our eldest car needs repair, so dad drives mom to work and takes it with him . Told me I could use it on Saturday, so I'm waiting, and have 4 days to choose, because my mom's taking the car out on a trip to somewhere in northern California for a meeting... So someone help me decide!

I pretty much refuse to buy a handheld Mario Tennis if it doesn't feature the RPG element.
The console versions only got away with not having it because they were great party games.

Argh... Mixed reviews... Can't decide! I'll see what IGN has to say about it.
