Default MTO: Does everyone online use the gyro view or do I suck really, really bad?

First match I played online in Mario Tennis Open I won, and it was a great match too. Gave me a lot of hopes for how intense and tight the online matches were going to be.

I go play some more single-player and I come back to online multiplayer and I don't think I've ever won a game since. I might have won one tiebreak but that's it. Now, do I suck really, really bad or is there something I'm missing? It seems like they always catch the ball without breaking a sweat. Is it because a lot of people online are using the gyro controls (which move your character to the ball automatically) or what? It's just getting really annoying to play and be lucky when I win one or two points, I don't think I'm that bad at the game.

Also, when are those "chance shot" circles appearing? Just at random?

i have played matches where players seem to teleport to the ball, usually You can tell if your able to fake out the player, aka make them not be able to get to the ball

Added after 31 minutes:

Here's a thread for online matchmaking for Mario tennis, This should help get around gyro control users : http://3dsforums.com/matchmaking-26/...hmaking-39616/

You can tell if someone is using Gyro controls or not. I've noticed something. If they never stand still for a second they are using Gyro controls. If they do stand still at certain points then they are not using it. I like the Gyro controls a lot, but I have stopped using them because whenever I did whether it be single player or online I felt like I was cheating.

I just wish that you could have that same camera view but have full control of your character. I know you can still move your character in Gyro controls but it is hard because they always try to auto move and it messes up you real movements. I really don't know why they didn't put that into the game. I love that view because it reminds me so much of Mario's Tennis on the Virtual Boy.

I know this is a late post, but you just need to develop your game strategies more. Chance shots are also not random, they come up as a result of a weak return. Also if your opponent slices and you slice back chances are your opponent will get a slice chance shot because slice accumulates (like in real life tennis) and therefore they get an uber slice shot. It's not 100% like that though, there is still an element of 'chance' but generally if you suck at returning the ball your opponent gets more chance shots.

Key tip: positioning is everything. This is also why people hate vs-ing tricky players that element of side spin puts your positioning out ever so slightly forcing a weak return from poor positioning. That's also why lunge shots usually give your opponent a chance shot. AND why people go power characters, because if you have a weak character you're return will mostly be weak against someone with heaps of power plus you have less time to properly position yourself because the ball is coming at you faster.

However in saying that speed is not necessarily the answer because with more speed comes weaker shots aka give your opponent more chance shots. Just predict your opponents shot choice and have enough speed that you can move to the ball and position yourself properly
