You chose Skyfall over the Hobbit?

At the cinemas: Skyfall, which was stellar to say the least.
At home: Titan A. E. (on Netflix). A classic, cartoon-animated sci-fi from the turn of the century.

i tried watching that biopic about Johnny Cash called "Walk the Line" on TV last night, but as much as i love Cash, it didn't keep me hooked.

i find it hard to properly watch stuff lately, i leave TV on as background noise while i do other stuff. kinda annoying how i can't just sit still for some reason!
maybe in a few years i'll force myself to sit through Star Wars: Episode 7 just so i can compile a list of criticisms.

The Hobbit
It's an awesome movie, but still not as great as The Lord of The Rings. It has much more comedy in it than LoTR. The only bad thing I have to say for this movie is that some scenes felt like fillers.

I just watched The Amazing Spiderman again. I missed a few parts the first time I saw it and I finally rented the movie on my xbox so I can see those parts. Overall I love this reboot. It doesn't give me the same feeling as the first 2 spiderman movies (not gonna speak of 3rd movie. i liked it overall....most of it anyway, but this one sits in the dungeon for a while) but this one is a different kind of good feeling.

Battle Royale and Battle Royale II: Requiem. Loved the first one, the second one was okay. Really messed up concept, but thought it was very well done. Might be an American remake in the next few years.

Christmas Vacation, we watch it every year!

Before that I watched Ted because my friends said it was supposed to HILARIOUS. Worst movie I have seen in a long time, didn't laugh once. 80's pop culture references, family guy jokes, and fart jokes. No amount of weed could have made that movie funny.

Im really not picky, i find plenty of comedies funny, but it's hard to keep faith in the genre when movies like ted keep coming out. Im not lying when i said i didnt laugh once, i dont think thats being picky... I'm glad that you were able to enjoy it though

The Dark Knight Rises. And now I get to put subtitles on for all those parts I missed. Its too bad that now I notice plot holes that I will never unnotice.

The Amazing Spider-Man. Meh it was okay i guess. I liked it better then the first though. Andrew Garfield is a much better Spider-Man then Tobey Maguire.

I just saw Brave with my family, which I got for Christmas from my sister.

It's good, I actually really enjoyed it. I liked the characters, the environments, and the legends, myths, and mysteries it set up. Most people have said it's not up to par with normal Pixar standards, and... I dunno, every film after the WALL-E, Up, and Toy Story 3, 1-2-knockout Pixar churned out. I don't think it's a turn for the worst, though, since this is an enjoyable movie. Since this is just the first time I watched it, I guess there MIGHT have been a lot of things I may have missed, not to mention my dad was doing something with his laptop and he and my older sister (who was the only one who had seen this movie already) were talking over the movie sometimes... It definitely feels like a movie I'd watch again, for sure... and Hell, given the characters and myth-building the movie has, I'd say it's on par with The Incredibles as one of the Pixar movies that's ACTUALLY open for sequels, Hell, I'd DEFINITELY would go to see a Brave sequel as opposed to a Finding Nemo sequel.

What did I like about it? Well, I liked a lot of things; I liked the relationship between the mother and Merida, and how that's the main focus of the movie; I ESPECIALLY love how Merida has more to learn than the mother, since YES, Merida SHOULD be willing to marry on her own, but you know, she COULD at LEAST realize the consequences of her actions! That's actually a major strike against the movie, the whole "string, action, fighting, tough girl" princess deal feels like it's been done to death by Disney already, although this being Pixar, it kind of breaths new life to it in a new way, shape, or form... Specifically in that Merida does get what she wants, but she also learns what it means to be diplomatic sometimes, something that her mother wanted to teach her, not to mention she "mends" their relationship by the end... BTW, I thought it was really stupid how she thought it was LITERALLY referring to the cloth she slashed.

I also liked the dad as well as the clan leaders and their sons; they're both unique and fun in their own unique ways, and I enjoyed watching them all interact with each other! Something I did like, for some reason, was when
Spoiler!

I also like the only real antagonist the movie has; yes, I know not ALL movies need an villain, but what can I say, I'm a sucker for them all the same.
Spoiler!
I also like the witch, in that she's NOT a villain, and in fact, does BOTHER with witchcraft, because it's given her a lot of trouble in the past. Her scenes are kind of goofy, yes, but I found her strangely appealing... Not to mention, I think the really villain is the ticking clock to have Merida and her mother learn their lesson before she becomes a full-on bear

So yeah, overall an enjoyable movie. I honestly really liked it and don't have much to complain about. Once again, definitely wouldn't mind seeing more out of this story. I'd give it... Um... an 8/10, I suppose. I feel that's about right.

Saw Les Mis?rables with my family (except my dad, he stayed home).

It was pretty good! I previously saw the musical twice... but I only remember the first time I saw it, which was my high school production of it. I feel bad, because while I found the story interesting, I fell asleep halfway through it so I don't remember a lot of what happened...

Seeing the movie, I feel the story is really intense and emotional. I came close to tears at the ending. I didn't cry, though, I'm weird like that. The songs were also good and memorable, even the ones that are mostly just transition songs. But really, you can say that about the original book and the musical. How's the movie?

Well, I have to say, they really took advantage of the fact that it's a movie and not a stage play... half of the time. Moments with sweeping camera angles and shots of Paris, not to mention the fights on the barricade, those were all done really well. Other times, the camera just focuses on one character singing, which makes sense, seeing as I found out early on that this movie was mostly shot live, relying on both the actor's acting talent and singing talent to hold a lot of the film. And for the most part, it works. They managed to sing fairly well AND convey genuine emotion...

Except for Russel Crowe. My entire family and I all agreed that he was probably the weakest aspect of the movie. I don't want to say he's outright bad, he did fine, but his singing voice, while not off-key, just didn't properly convey the character of Javert, and sounded a bit awkward in some places... Which is a shame, because he's probably the most intriguing character of the story.

One last thing I feel the need to mention was something they added to the film. Since I only remember the beginning part of the musical I noticed that, in the beginning, Jean Valjean is ordered to lift a mast with the French flag on it. I immediately took notice of this, because I remember
Spoiler!

So yeah, overall a good movie. Quite a bit of it reminded me of just how demented and cruel this story can be... Makes me want to real the original story for myself, actually. Anyway, I'd give this movie a... 7/10.

I was a bit bored last night and decided to watch Solomon Kane on TV. I liked this movie mostly because Solomon Kane is an intriguing character. Some scenes are also very well executed and a bit emotional like when he swears to save a girl to his dying father or when he is crucified and the pain he endures to free his hands and continue his quest.

Battlestar Galactica: Razor, actually a really good movie! If you're into the series that is. It made me just wanna watch some epic BSG episodes though.

Oh I love that movie.

The last movie I watched in the cinemas was Breaking Dawn II But earlier today we watched the Filipino film "The Reunion" on DVD. It was really good! For a romantic comedy.

Ace Attorney.

MY GOD is it corny, and the fansubbing is a bit off in places, but it is indeed the perfect Video Game Movie.

I like both Star Wars trilogies, but the lightsaber duels in the new one are so entertaining to watch. I understand it was impossible to put duels like that in the original trilogy though...

I, too, watched Django Unchained! I watched it with a co-worker of mine who had already seen it, but was more than willing to watch it again! I did so because I wanted to see it and was sure no one else in my family would want to. My sister's boyfriend is staying over, though, and he really wants to see it, so maybe I'll watch it again with him...

Anyway, this happens to be the very first Quentin Tarantino movie I've seen... kind of feel bad, because I really wanted to see Inglorious Basterds when it came out a few years back... But now that I've seen it, I believe I need to track down and watch Quentin Tarantino's other movies now as well, because I really liked it! It was a lot funnier than I expected it to be, and what's strange is that a lot of the humor came from a strange juxtaposition wherein there's wacky zoom-ins, off-beat lines of dialogue, and nonchalant attitudes when dealing with people casually being shot or having their faces blown off. Of course, there's the issues of casual violence towards slaves, which is the source of a lot of controversy... although, there was going to be controversy no matter what, and I honestly like that Tarantino had the balls to show just what the pre-Civil War South was like.

It's got great characters, too. Christopher Waltz as Dr. King Shultz is probably my favorite character in the movie.
Spoiler!
Jamie Foxx as Django,
Spoiler!
The main villain, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, truly is one of the most despicable villains to have ever graced the big screen in recent years...
Spoiler!
But he isn't the only bad guy. What I found to be the most surprising aspect of the movie is the secondary villain, a black slave named Stephen, played by Samuel L. Jackson. He really plays up his performance, like expected, and is probably my second favorite character in the movie next to Dr. Shultz, but what's interesting about him is that
Spoiler!
The other characters are fine, not much else to say about them. The main four of this movie, though, are real stand-outs and make this movie a real joy!

I feel like I should address the "N-word issue", even though there isn't really much of an issue. That's what blacks were called back then; having it absent would have seemed strange, IMO. Not that it isn't a bad word, it is, but I think including it helps emphasis just what the word originally meant and the implication it had. Also, for anyone else who saw this movie, were you reminded of Blazing Saddles? Because I was...

One last thing: I feel the need to mention my favorite little moment. Early on in the movie,
Spoiler!

Overall, one of my new favorite movies of this year... which is almost over. 8.75 out of 10!

Les Miserables. Which was pretty amazing. Pretty much everything I wanted in a Les Miserables movie.

I didn't absolutely love every single song in comparison to the musical, but that's just the way it goes. I've been listening to them for years, and I'm used to hearing them in a specific way with a specific instrumentation. Nevertheless, I've never cried while listening to the musical, but the movie kept me teary eyed almost the whole time.

I never have the inclination to own movies, but this one I will get for sure. Especially if there is an extended version that restores the songs that got cut down a little bit.

I, like Radiant, also saw Les Miserables. However, I only knew the main songs such as I Dreamed a Dream and One Day More, so I'm happy I finally got to see the musical in it's whole. Great movie, just don't see it if you can't handle 3 hours of singing.

I've been trying to watch that movie for ages! Like I saw it at redbox today but didn't have a card or anything on me and my mom didn't want to get it. I could just buy it but, eh.

Last movie I watched was Sparkle.
Actually it was Death Race. But Sparkle was good.

That's disappointing to hear, although that seems to be the general consensus. I'm planning to just wait until it's released on DVD.

Great movie, but definitely not perfect IMO. Russell Crowe, for example, is pretty miscast and makes a terrible Javert. His singing also sounds half-hearted at best.

Also, this is just a personal gripe, but I didn't like those extended shots of seeing nothing but the actor's face while they sing their hearts out. Yeah, this is one of the big hooks that they made a big deal about while promoting this movie, that the actors sing their songs live, in one take, which sounds impressive, but doesn't really look that impressive. God bless them for doing something like that and pulling it off, but I might as well just close my eyes and listen to the singing because there's nothing to look at.

Aside from some nitpicky parts, I otherwise really enjoyed Les Miserables. Could be a good, even a great movie, but it's certainly not perfect.

Fantastic Four (2005). It was..... okay. There was way too little action and Dr. Doom was underwhelming (which is a shame given that he's one of Marvel's best villains).
I guess i'd give it a 5/10

The last movie that I completely watched and enjoyed, was Les Miserables.
10/10 besides Russel Crow, if he wasn't in it 11/10.
The actual stage production was much better.

May have been the best movie I have ever seen.

It's been a long time since I went to cinema. The last movie that I remember watching was Bourne Legacy, it's okay but there's no point in continuing the series without Matt Damon. I'll give it 7/10.

The Dark Knight Rises...

It's enjoyable, but there are definitely flaws. The part at the stock exchange where the henchman says the program will take 8 minutes to upload or whatever irks me the most. It's daytime when he says that, yet the thing is done at nighttime, which also comes out of the blue. wtf?

Ice age continental drift

The fact they keep making these movies pretty much annoys me, they could have just left it at 3 (which was in my opinion, the best movie in the series) instead of continuing.

For one thing the movie is as annoying as taking a ****, every character just won't shut up through the entire thing, and every word is a dumb pun or a lame joke. There isn't even a second of silence which also ticks me off majorly.

Also, adding another character (Sid's grandma) was a dumb idea, even though she was obviously the best character in the entire movie. Other than that everything was just pain.

I'll admit the film did look pretty though

I like to imagine that you aren't really going to let your opinion of a movie be changed by one, barely noticeable inconsistency in the time of day. To say that that movie was amazing would be an understatement.

I just saw Lincoln. Daniel Day Lewis' performance was astounding. He should definitely win an Oscar. As for the plot, I'm not a huge history wiz, so there were parts that I got a little lost on. But overall, Spielberg did a great job with engrossing the audience into the setting. Gave a very believable and real atmosphere.

Oh, and earlier this week I gave "This Is 40" a try. I figured it was by the same writers as Knocked Up, and I'm a fan of both Leslie Mann and Paul Rudd - what could go wrong? But god, was that movie disappointing as hell. It was more depressing than anything, just piecing together the plot with unnecessary and dull scenes of arguing. Should have been called "Marriage: the Movie." Not enough focus on comedy, Judd Apatow tried to write in way too many sub-stories which made the main plot seem insignificant. There were little laughs here and there, but honestly nothing memorable..

And at some point I squeezed in Silver Lining's Playbook. I'm getting tired of talking about movies at this point, so I'll just say I really really really liked it. Go see it. Jennifer Lawrence is a fox. Bradley Cooper too.

Last movie I saw in theaters was my second trip to The Dark Knight Rises. Fantastic movie, though I am a little disappointed in Nolan for dropping the ball on a few details. I didn't notice MOST of them in the movie, as it was an amazing ride that didn't leave me much time to notice.

I am going to go see The Hobbit later today with my fianc? though. I can't say I'm terribly excited, I did enjoy the LOTR trilogy and the books(difficult to read, Tolkien is a maddening genius), but we got a $25 gift card to our local theater, so why not? We are also interested in Les Miserables(I'm a guy, is this bad?) and Skyfall.

The Watch, last night. It was a laugh, although I'm not the biggest Ben Stiller fan, or Vince Vaughn for that matter. But plenty of gross out humor and off beat characters.

Last movie I saw at the Cinema was The Hobbit, and it was near perfect for me. Time will tell if it holds up as well as LOTR on multiple watches (moves which I never tire of) but first time around, I think it was better, just a hell of a lot of fun.

Cheers,
Lee

My hubby and I watched "A Haunted House" last night at the theater. It was hilarious! People were loud, which usually isn't my type of movie, but because it was a comedy, I expected it, and we had a great time!

Very nice. Shawshank is one of those movies that I like to watch over and over. I kind of wish I could watch it for the first time again to feel that extra intense impact of the movie.

I just watched Detatchment last night. It was probably the best movie I've seen in its sub-genre.

I know what you mean. The story overall was pretty good. And now I finally understand the family guy episode that makes fun of it.

Tekken: Blood Vengeance

I was a little worried about watching it on the original model of 3ds on screen rather small for movie watching & having to hold up the 3ds for the whole movie. But with my set of turtle beach headphones & a few minutes of watching i totally forgot i was on such a small screen as was so engrossed in the movie. Great movie tho totally loved it.

The 1956 version of Moby Dick.

The special effects were fairly impressive for its age and the acting was good. Better than reading the book, for sure.

While it has entered my Top 10 favorite movies, I wouldn't say it's perfect. Amanda Seyfried is on par with naught but Nick Jonas. That's not a compliment.

Really? I had some issues with Amanda Seyfried, but my really problem was Russell Crowe. It made me sad to watch him fail at such an important role to the story.

As well, the sets and some camera angles were just mind boggling. Did they blow the budget on the cast?

Last movie I've seen: Mighty Morphin Power rangers Movie
Not even kidding.

Resolution.

I was satisfied with most of the movie. There are certain areas in the storyline that could have been enhanced (for lack of better words) with a bigger budget.

Taken 2: I thought the plot was really unoriginal since it involves the same villains doing the same thing..The only "twist" is that the daughter doesn't get caught this time, but they take her parents instead. I found the movie suspensful and had a great time watching it, but still... I'd give it a 6/10. I don't think it's any better than the first one.

I probably enjoyed the fisrt one a bit more only because the plot was original then, while the second one is just a twist of the plot of the first movie.

I'm actually surprised you gave it that high of a score because many people thought the Taken 2 was horrible. Honestly, I agree with your score though; I very much enjoyed it and would probably rate it the same 6-- but for different reasons.

We Were Soldiers Score: 9.5/10
If there's any movie that has managed to accuretely grasp what happens on a battlefield then this has to be it. This movie is based upon the book written by Lt. Hal Moore, the man who led the 7th Air Cavalry division into the first major battle of the Vietnam war. I really have no words to describe what I just watched. If you feel like having fun, I wouldn't suggest this movie. If however you want to see what war must be like or watch one of the greates war movies, then this one is for you.

The only reason it's not a solid 10 is because of some bad acting(I'm talking about some of the ladies).

Added after 2 minutes:

When I try to rate a movie, I preffer to be objective and give it what I believe it deserves. To me, some people just overthink some movies. Taken 2 isn't what you'd consider a "classy" or meaningful movie. It's an action movie and therefore action scenes and story is what it should be rated for and while the latter isn't great it sure has some great fight scenes and chases.

I gotcha. I like and respect your outlook on movies. I was extremely close to being a film major/minor in college with all of my film credits so I tend to take a hard look at all aspects in every movie I watch and then analyze each and every one in its own sense. No one movie is taken at face value. I try not to go into too much detail about my thoughts in movies here though... since I know I'd ramble on for pages. xD

---

More on topic:

The last movie I watched was One Fall.

The story's development and the way in which it was filmed made it seem more like a two hour pilot for a TV series rather than an indie movie. Still, I enjoyed it for what it was.

The Stepfather 7/10

The plot is about a serial murderer who bonds himself with single parent families and then snaps and murders them. I found this movie by pure coincidence and I enjoyed it. It's quite decent and keeps you on edge through the whole movie. In this you see his attempt to kill another family but fortunately he fails. It gets a bit repetitive at points though and some characters seem a bit shallow as you don't learn much about them through the movie, even though they play their part in the plot.

Just watched Ninja Assassin on blu-ray and it was awesome! Found it for like 10$ at Wal-mart too in those huge bins of movies no body looks through, so great find for me!

A Haunted House - Not worth seeing at the theater, easily one of the worst out of the parody movies like Scary Movie.

Mama - I loved it, feral children ftw!

Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story.

A well done biography on a truly gifted surgeon.

Paranormal Activity 4.

The concept of the series has slowly degraded from the original, which was extra apparent in this fourth installment. (I had both respected and enjoyed the first movie.) Oddly enough for a big horror flick, the sense of humor was the only real part of it I enjoyed. Personally, I would have scrapped this script for a complete rewrite.

---

Margin Call.

Excellent take on the beginning of the recent recession. The acting was fantastic. No major complaints.

I decided to watch Resident Evil earlier. Even though the game franchise is great movie material, I don't think this movie managed to quite deliver the atmosphere found in the games. I hope the other ones delve more into the horror genre.

The first Resident Evil movie was the only one in the series I really liked. I actually enjoyed it, even if it didn't capture the video game's atmosphere. The second RE wasn't as horrible as all the others that followed it, so I'd say it's worth a watch.

As far as the rest of the series goes, I thought all of them lacked any and every form of substance. =\ Super, super disappointing. I... I... can't even talk about it. Haha. They make me sad.

The Awakening.

The plot was average for a basic horror movie. The filming was well done.

Hugo.

I was pleasantly surprised by the imagination and depth involved with this one.

In my opinion Daredevil isn't as bas as people make it out to be. I actually enjoyed watching it and I've watched it more than twice.

The last movie I watched was Lincoln. I briefly knew the story about the 13th Amendment and the assassination of president Lincoln and I thoroughly enjoyed this film. The movie did a great job in the costumes and decorations department and it was as if it was really filmed in the 19th century. Also Daniel Day-Lewis did a great job as a lead actor, playing the role of Lincoln. I really can't think of anything bad to say about this movie.

EDIT: I just found out Lincoln got 2 Oscar awards. One is "Actor in a leading role", given to Daniel Day-Lewis and the other is for "Production Design"

I just watched the butterfly effect again. Definitely still by far the best ashton has ever done overall, and the concept of the movie is still really cool. The director's cut ending is really depressing and dark though.
