On September 11th, I watched TMNT: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hero In A Half Shell. It was a great movie. It was better then I thought it was going to be.

On September 16th, I watched Kung Fu Panda 2 on my TV.

Automata.

A pretty decent film. I don't feel like it offered anything new to the futuristic sci-fi genre, but it was still worth a watch.

Big Hero 6 was fantastic. I had so many doubts and left extremely impressed. I'd say it's probably my favorite film of Disney's recent trio (Tangled, Wreck it Ralph, Frozen), and it's really saying something.

The last movie I saw was John Wick, I think. Surprisingly, it was captivating enough a movie to keep me from falling asleep, and it was a lot better than I anticipated it to be.

I watched Lucy for the first time a couple hours ago. It was an OK movie, deserving of a 6/10 in my opinion, but still, it could have been more if they gave more depth to the characters and tried to make it more true to science.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. I enjoyed it. Easily my favorite of the Hobbit films. Though it's still nowhere near as good as the LOTR trilogy.

Rewatched Night of the Hunter (1955). Still very effective, dark thriller. Robert Mitchum still scares the daylight out of you 60 years later.

Great movie. It has been a long time since I last saw it, but I do recall finding it unsettling. A good example of a film that managed to frighten without the need for elaborate special effects.

Watched a movie on Netflix called Truth or Dare. Looked like a pretty bad low budget movie, but it had some pretty good plot twists and directions.

Can we do TV shows? Because I never really get into them, but right now there's just so many great ones around I get excited every week they're released. We've got:

- Better Call Saul
- Broad City
- Vikings (wow I was actually really surprised by this. it is so BRUTAL. it's what I wanted Game of Thrones to be)
- Walking Dead (of course)
- Parasyte: The Maxim

Anybody else digging these shows right now?

i went to the cinemas to see big hero 6 today and it was really good, probably one of the best ive seen in a while
i was laughing for a good majority of the film, and it had its sad parts too
and they also had a huge inflatable baymax outside in the main entrance
Spoiler!

I saw guardians of the galaxy finally. I wasnt too interested to see it but got around to since everyone apparently loves the movie.

However, I didn't really like it that much. It had really good effects and good humor. But I just for some reason didn't enjoy it as much as everyone else. I didn't really like any of the heroes...except Rocket. He was adorable

The Amazing Spider-man 2. I liked it more than the first one but it's too cartoonish for a live action movie.

I don't think TV is as popular here as movies. The threads on them always get lost.

You might like The Man in the High Castle, Justified, Fargo and Banshee.

Dumb and Dumber To. Wasn't as good as the first, girl in the movie was pretty hot though.

Fair enough. I wouldn't usually post about them either, but I think its a good year for TV, this one. We also have Community season 6 coming, I think.

Re movies: Son of a Gun. I thought it was pretty much the ultimate action/crime film, it has everything in it, heists, prison scenes and escapes, firefights, drugs, bikinis, token Russian gangsters, all that stuff. Huge Australian production, that didn't do very well apparently, but I thought it was great. Especially if you like hard-as-nails action flicks.

Salt (2010)

I never saw it when it was new but recall hearing good things about it. And for my part, I enjoyed it. I love how they kept the movie short at around 90 minutes so that it did not drag on either.

Wicked Little Things.

Nothing special when it comes to horror, or even film making for the matter.

I did not realize there were alternate versions of the film until you pointed it out. According to the synopses I read here, I must have seen the theatrical release, the shortest of the three and the one that happens to be on Netflix Canada.

Last night:

Fast Times at Ridgemont High
Mystic River

I had this strange impulse to keep up with the whole Sean Penn theme after watching Ridgemont, so I popped in my Mystic River DVD. Odd combo, but it was a good back-to-back feature.

Human Centipede 3. Awful movie. Not even like "oh it's so gross this is terrible". Awful in the sense that it's a terrible movie and straight up boring

Inside Out.

Pixar is apparently back to making clever movies, fully redeeming itself after the boring slog that was Brave. Excellent movie, and very well thought-out. Honestly, I'm not so sure I would call Inside Out a children's movie... it's really a movie written for adults that children will enjoy. I don't think it'll be considered a classic like Frozen, because of it (I don't really get why that movie took off, tbh, but I'm also not the target age demo), which is kind of unfortunate... it was one of the more lighthearted thoughtful movies I've seen in a while.

And on a less serious note, I ended up watching most of "No Strings Attached" while running at the gym. It's pretty painful, and the worst part is I've now seen it two Saturdays in a row, thanks to re-airs Two times too many.

Southpaw. Really nice and heavy. Follows all the boxing tropes but worked well with them. The acting was sublime and I wouldn't be surprised if billy hope's daughter received a nomination for best supporting actress. All in all a really well made film.
