Default Kickstarter funding projects

Basically, I want to know how many Kickstarters you have help fund, and what they were.

If you havent funded any, tell us why you would or wouldnt.

Any other opinions on the subject is good too, just have some substance to your post if you please

I have funded 2 Kickstarters so far.

1. Pebble E-Paper Watch

This one I thought was pretty sweet. Something totally not needed but will be very functional if you have it. Its basically a watch that pairs with your smartphone via Blutooth 4.0 to allow controlling of your phone, the use of apps that can do many things, and the displaying of your texts and calls and such, without having to grab your phone out of your pocket or whatever.

2. Carmageddon

I never got to play Carmageddon back in the day, and I thought $15 was the right price point to help fund the development of a new one.

I would fund the Oculus Rift, but the Kickstarter isnt geared toward consumers, only developers. I will wait impatiently for the Consumer model. But it is by far what I am most excited for in terms of gaming.

So, how about you all?

I've found the whole thing as one big scam 90% of the time... I don't know how many of the projects actually end up done, but I'm sure they all won't...

One thing that made me laugh was how OC Remix had a Kickstarter for a Final Fantasy remix album with a goal of 15,000 USD (Ended up at 30k), but all their previous albums were made without any kind of support... A site like OC Remix gets a lot of ad revenue anyways. Basically just milking their fanbase.

Another thing I follow is Yogscast and they had a Kickstarter for a (Minecraft clone) self-made game of theirs. They started it like a year ago and I don't think I've seen an update in like 3 months.

It just seems fishy to me so I've stayed clear of the whole thing.

Well, of course you cant just TRUST everyone, you actually have to do some research to determine if its a good "investment" of sorts...

There are a lot of professional, trust worthy projects on the site tho.

But yes, I would be weary of a lot of the stuff to, but I dont think you should write off EVERYONEs projects because of a couple that havent panned out how you expected them to.

BUMP

Projects I've backed:

Ava's Demon: Book One
Shantae: Half-Genie Hero
Mighty No.9
LOVELY: Girls of Animation Collaborative Art Book
Kidnapped for Christ
Todd Allison and the Petunia Violet Vol. 1
Cosmochoria

Feel pretty good about Kickstarter so far. I've been pretty happy with my investments.

I've funded some Kickstarters and Indiegogos.

Kickstarter

Mighty No 9 of course
Fox Stevenson's FIRST Music Video Project

Indiegogo

Frequency Blitz - Attack The Music 1st Compilation Album Confirmed to be a success. Album is now on sale on digital and CD and a sequel is coming mid-May on the same medias.
Savant - Kali 47 Music Video
Monstercat Animated Series Still wondering when it's gonna happen. I think it's the least likely to happen on all of the crowdfunding things I've put money into.

Mmm wtf was that? One of the crowdfunding things I've funded has been an album and they were asking $1000 for it and it was made on CDs. Another one is a music video for still less than the OC Remix thing. A music video and an animated series have been asking for just as much as that.

What the hell, OC Remix?

Has anyone here funded a kickstarter that turned out bad?

So far I've been lucky, but I wonder if anyone has run into some disappointing kickstarters.

I'm actually concerned about the Monstercat one right now, but the other ones I've backed are too early in the process to freak out about them, and one of them has been successful enough to have a sequel.

Wow! I wasn't expecting one for SUPERHOT! I had to back this.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/375798653/superhot

It's probably my most anticipated indie game right now. I played the prototype back then it was freaking great!

It does look super neat.

I'm not sure if I want to back it. (I've spent so much money lately.) But I'm sure it'll reach the goal.

I've canceled my pledge for Amplitude. More is going into SUPERHOT instead. I went in the $40 tier (game + special edition + beta access).

I have helped fund two more projects.

Midora, which is a very Zelda looking game.

Liquid off, which is a non-toxic, water-based, super hydrophobic coating.

I back a lot of board games. Most recently I've backed Monikers and Waggle Dance, both of which are still pledge-able. Kind of tempted by the Dungeon Lords 5th anniversary KS too...

Have you gotten any news on this yet, Gab?

I'm not sure exactly how it works but I think you can contact Kickstarter if they still haven't delivered your rewards.

I added the Moment Smar****ch to my list of kickstarter funded projects. Its a smar****ch that, to me, looks better than anything on the market by the professionals. I have a pebble but will probably sell it once this ships.

Also, a reminder, if you like Zelda overhead view type games and like the art style of Minish Cap, PLEASE check out MIDORA on Kickstarter. It only has a couple days left but is still $10,000 short of their funding goal. They are only asking $10 for a digital copy and $5 per key for any extras you want, either for gifts, or if you want copies on other formats.

There is a app that is designed to make watching internet videos more like a traditional TV guide on kickstarter, needs a lot more backing. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/b...youtube-videos

So far, the only kickstarter I've backed has been Yooka-Laylee, a spiritual successor to Banjo Kazooie made by some of the main talent from classic Rare.

In MY post. Since I spelled it without a space between Smart and Watch, it thinks I am saying smarT.W.A.T.ch
