Angry NSMB2 Course Packs

I'll just make it short and sweet this time:

Anyone besides me COMPLETELY outraged that Nintendo is making you pay MORE money for more levels after you already bought the game?! I remember the good old days when you bought a game and you got the game.

I am kind of upset but is $5 that much to pay for 6 levels? If it were like 5 packs (15 levels) for $100, then that would be outrageous! It is not that bad other than the fact that each level is like $0.86 so...

I would pay it if it were for the real game and not coin rush. I love coin rush, don't get me wrong, but if I buy an expansion pack, I want to explore every crevasse, not rush through... I don't know, I just really think they shouldn't charge you for anything extra. I'm just remembering before the internet came out, and you bought, say, SMB3 or DKC or something, and you got the whole game without the shop button. I guess it's a fair price for anyone who really REALLY wants it, but I don't think it's worth it...

EDIT: By "before the internet came out", I mean before anyone associated it with gaming.

It's not like this content was violently ripped out of NSMB2 and now the original game is incomplete without the DLC, so there's no reason to cry.

Not crying here, just kind of mad that I paid so much money (so much money for me at least) to get the game, and then they come and hit you with a sort of expansion pack... I just kinda thought that it was angering because Nintendo used to be straightfoward, now they kind of have this whole arsenal of moneymaking techniques, no?

But I must agree with you, it can go unpurchased and in most cases will, so...

DLC is standard stuff for this generation of gaming. Were you happy with your purchase before they announced the DLC?

Hey look, ANOTHER thread like this.

I'll just leave this here and be done with it.

You didn't have to buy it to enjoy the full game, end of line.

Sigh.

The game is still complete without any DLC, it's just for the people who love the game and want more of it. People who want more will happily pay more, why deny them the possibility? Just don't buy them and enjoy the game. If this was before the internet came out, your NSMB2 would still be the same, those coin rush levels wouldn't magically be in there to begin with. So just be happy with your game, and ignore the DLC, lol.

I am slightly angered. I don't think a whole course pack is worth $2.50, but then again, DLC is much more expensive than that. Other than that, I'm fine with it. It wasn't Day 1 DLC like Theatrhythm, and it is optional. It's just part of the Coin Rush mode (personally, I think it would be cool if they added a whole world for $7.50) Basially, your game is complete without it and it's basically like Pokemon events, except having to pay for them.

You get the full game with your purchase, and you can choose whether or not to buy new levels that are released. Nintendo said they would have DLC. If the levels were done right when the game came out, it would of been day 1 DLC. But it took a whole month. Nintendo always provides a full game and they have even said that unlike other companies, they won't exclude content from the game to make DLC.

Why are you mad about something that is optional and you don't have to pay for?

This is true... I have been thinking of it as a completionist, and as a completionist, I want the entire thing done. And the extra levels are just there taunting me.

But it is the truth, you don't really need it. I guess it really isn't part of the game at all. Nintendo only added it for the people who REALLY wanted more... which I am not one of, since NSMB2 was fairly easy, completed with every star coin and every secret moon coin in 3 days, with no walkthroughs or anything.

I think it'd be a good idea to make a limited edition AMAZINGLY challenging Mario game that not even gamers can fully wrap their heads around... but over the years, Mario has just become way too easy. Easier with every game. I just feel kinda jipped with the $40, because it was so fast. Did anyone actually have trouble with this game? I'm really wondering that now...

True, it wasn't too challenging, but I had a blast playing it.

I can't really think of any time Super Mario in general has been an extreme challenge. If you want a challenge at least get the Nerve-Wreck Pack. That one is definitely a must buy if you want a challenge.

I see people saying this all the time, but seriously, what Mario game was hard? SMB3? SMW? Nope, they are not hard at all. I believe people mix up "games getting easier" with "skill improving with age". SMW sure as hell was harder for me at age 5 than what NSMB2 was at 22, but I still enjoyed both! Gaming isn't all about a challenge, and Mario games sure aren't.

I would strive to purchase it if you had the option to play it in normal mode, without so little time and stuff. I wish they sold like, extra worlds or something instead of being coin rush exclusive.

Also, I am horribly lacking in money now anyway!!

PS- I can recall some hard Mario game moments.... if I tried, like, really really hard

This is the truth right here.

There is only ONE level from Super Mario that I have found hard and thats this one:

Even as an adult, I hate this level with a passion.

Yeah, I know I've posted this before, deal with it

Hate it. HATE IT. It's from the secret special world in SMW. Hate it, hate it. That's all there is to it. Hate it.

I wouldn't have remembered it otherwise though.

Maybe because I blocked it out of my memory...?

Added after 2 minutes:

But come to think of it, I've tried replaying Mario games without getting hit ONCE, without losing any powerup, and instantly my own challenge makes Mario the hardest, most heart-rate-increasing thing ever. I did it with SM3D Land and it was quite hard when I forced myself to start back from 1-1 every time I got hit.

Finally beat it though!

Oh look, someone complaining about Nintendo adding more levels (not taking content and locking it away to sell it back to you later, like Capcom does) to the game!

Welcome to the new generation of gaming, brotha. Where have you been the past 6 years?

They cost too much! I would understand if they would cost 1 ?\$ per pack but 2,50 seriously it doesn't cost them much to make them. Why don't they just release a course builder for 5 dollars\euros,it would be a must buy for everyone they would make more money.

It's challenging to me because I always try to play like a pro and do crazy jumps and **** and then I die and die and die and die and rage quit!

I know I know, I just really really hate expansion packs and stuff and never thought I'd see them in a Mario, so I kinda freaked out. No other Mario game had this, right?

There is one game that had it. Super Mario Advanced 4 aka Super Mario Bros 3 on the GBA.

There were extra levels you could buy and play using E-cards and an E-reader.

They cost way more than these did, trust me.

So this isn't a new thing really.

Club Nintendo sent me a survey by e-mail that turned about to be about these. Why did I buy them? Because the game isn't "complete" without them. What did I like? Lots of coins, I guess. What don't I like? And then I found myself writing a multi-paragraph screed about how the DLC gives you levels that you can't play effectively because unlike the mushroom/flower/star levels, you have no chance to explore freely and determine the most effective path, and I've already got a set of levels from the mushroom pack that I can get 25000 coins with, so why do I want to spend extra time figuring out how they expect me to get 30,000 on the gold rush pack (got nowhere near that when I played it). I mentioned I wanted to care about playing the nerve wrack pack but I just don't, I don't see a need to torture myself with it, and would probably find a youtube video of it just to satisfy my curiosity about what it looks like all the way through. Then I repeated some of my ranting from the "achievements" thread elsewhere in this forum, that I just want the game to be over once I've found all the secrets and won all the levels, and their one million, wait, no, ten million coin thing is preventing me from playing other games.

And then, will I buy more in the future? Yes, of course I will. Damn you, Nintendo. And damn you, video game industry for making this a trend they needed to follow.

I like DLC as long as it doesnt cost too much cause it makes the game more playable for me but i heard the DLC of the mario game only adds coin rush levels which is complete BS.

I think in some console the company itself were pissed off and blamed the devs that they should NOT make any more half done games with DLC.

If you could play the level in "normal" mode and not be extremely pressed for time the level would cease to be challenging.

I love the option of buying more playtime in a game I am really enjoying.

Plus the last pack (think it was called "classics" or something similar) is available for free for a limited time. They are based on several classic SMB levels and have alternate exits, hidden stuff etc.

Were people angry when new levels for Mario Advance were sold on eReader cards?
...
...
...
...Never mind. Talk about a bad comparison.
