Mario Kart 7
>It's a racing game
>Has great online play
>Customizable Karts
>Variety (but strict) in character choice

Downsides
>Extremely light in content compared to the other Mario Kart games, especially Mario Kart DS.

I thought this was a comparison between NSMB 2 and Mario Kart 7. Why is NSMB U in the poll?

Adding the 3rd option in your poll makes me feel like this thread wasn't meant to be taken seriously. So I'll answer with: bananas.

This is a weird thread. These games are completly different genres. It's like comparing Assassin's Creed II to Command & Conquer 3.

It really depends on what you're looking for. I've had a lot of fun with both. But quality-wise, I'd say NSMB2 is better and it's not even close. MK7 really feels rushed and there's pretty much nothing to do apart from racing online, which is fun, but I expect better from Nintendo.

NSMB2 I feel is just very well designed and built to have high replay value. It's so much fun. I didn't play the previous two games in the series, so maybe that's why I'm having a blast, but it's still very good.

It does seem like a lot is copied from the Wii version.

They are both very weak entries in their respective series'.

I do love MK7's online, I have 100 hours on the game. But $40 for what basically amounts to an online mode isn't good enough from Nintendo, the game needed to be more fleshed out. It's pretty light, and we know Miyamoto said he was doing everything he could to make sure it would release on time for the holidays, which is a very un-Miyamoto-like thing to say.

NSMB2 does what it does extremely well. I've had it since it was released in August and I'm still playing it pretty regularly and enjoying every minute of it. Strong 2D platformer.

I've own neither game but I've played MK7, and I'll echo the fact it's a little light in content compared to Mario Kart DS. Which had everything MK7 has plus the great missions and is the best game of the series in my books.

Once I've had my fill of Lost Levels I'll probably pick up NSMB2. When I move home later in the year if any of my friends have MK7 I'll buy it then, I'm not that intrested in the online play.

Sorry I'm a little off topic; but I'm guessing MK DS's online play is long long dead, correct?

MK7 if you're into online racing games, NSMB2 if you're into platformers.

Looks like most people like MK7 better. So I just bought it. I already have NSMBU so I'll just wait.

However, I'm not sure that most people who voted MK7 even have NSMB 2...

New Mario 2, by far. MK7 felt rushed and the new tracks are just too boring compared to previous ones in the series. New Mario 2's level design is pretty fun, clever and well done most of the time, specially in Ghost Houses.

But we all know New Mario U beats the crap out of these 2.

How is this even a poll? Why don't we start comparing Metroid to Professor Layton next?

Out of the poll options it is hard to say. MK7 has more replay value because of online but NSMB2 and NSMBU had solid single-player experiences. Especially U.

Ofcourse you can compare across genres. You just need to be subjective, and judge the game on its own merits. Apply some sort of universal scale which we all inherintly do. Like you did so yourself. But I agree a poll for such a subjective question defintley isn't the best way to go about it! Can't blame the guy though, he probably jsut wanted a quick answer!

I'm not directing this at you, since you are completley right this isn't a good question for a poll. Rather I just don't understand when people say you can't compare across genres. It's not like anyone said "MK7 is better than NSMB2 because it has more cars."

And to answer your question: Metroid is better, it has more guns.

On the Metroid vs Layton topic/question, obviously Phoenix Wright wins, cuz of spiky hair.

Get it? Cuz the poll in this thread added another option that's not included in the title? 8D?

I could have said "In your opinion, which game is the better value for the price point." But I wanted people to say why the game is better.

Both games are rather mediocre considering their predecessors, but Kart7 is clearly superior to NSMB2.

To be fair though, i play NSMB2 more than Kart 7 because I have a digital copy and still am tryna get that to that 10 mil coins milestone. THEN...I can finally stop playing the game.

Depends on what you want - a racing game or a platformer
I've owned both - actually, I traded in NSMB2 to get MK7 :P And tbh, I don't regret my decision so yeah, you can guess which one I'd recommend

To be honest, I can't believe there is any possible way of comparing the two games at all! That's like comparing Pokemon Crystal to Pokemon Rumble Blast.

Still, I do indeed prefer MK7.

Actually, I meant two games of completely different styles where the only thing connecting the two are the established franchises they're part of.

Rumble and Rumble Blast are still pretty terrible games/series though.
