Default Disney Infinity (for June maybe?)

From the blog:
Quote:
The game uses the Skylanders-ish concept of collecting real-world figurines to insert into the virtual world, while also adding a “Toy Box” feature that makes it possible to invent your own environments and share them with your friends to “play” in. There will be actual challenges and puzzles to solve in the “Play Set” portion of the game, so it’s not strictly for folks who wish to indulge their creative side.

Assuming the 3DS version isn't another Epic Mickey, it looks really cool. I guess it's going to be overpriced like Skylanders, but unlike Skylanders, it actually looks really awesome (to me). Thoughts on this?

I'll consider if the 3DS version isn't nerfed. Looks pretty cool, trailer gave me goosebumps xD As long as 3DS has all the online components and stuff, looks like a buy. Also if it won't have some bigass attachment for the 3DS ver. (Maybe you could scan the figurines in with the camera?)

I wish they would use the older IPs though and not some Monsters Inc and Incredibles crap.

That looks fantastic! Showing Perry and Ralph means a lot too. They're gonna be using newer IPs. Now if they just use a lesser focus on those toys, I'll be totally sold.

Someone pointed out to me that Mickey's not in this game, which is weird... But I'm glad to see Wreck-It Ralph characters in the game! I can only hope Gravity Falls characters will be included eventually.

I'll be waiting for reviews on this game, but it does look interesting. There are alot of characters i like, and the gameplay doesn't look bad either. So i'll definitaly be watching this.

Collecting real world figurines? Well that doesn't sound like a cashcow scam at all. Not interested.

This game will sell fantastically well, regardless of quality. Kids love toys and games so with Disney's IP to drawn from, the kids should be well and truly hooked. For us adults? Let's hope there's some quality there!

I hope they have a better figure release than Skylanders. It was ridiculous trying to find out any info on when everything would be available, and which stores would have them..

This look great. I am actually going to buy this. I have always been a Disney fan, and I was on the edge about getting Skylanders, this has got to be the best idea since toaster waffles. Phineas and Ferb, Wreck-It Ralph= HECK YES!

And to think had John Carter been a success, we might possibly have seen him make an appearance...

I'm interested in the game, but I'm not 100% sure if I'm willing to spend $75.

I don't understand why everyone is so excited after seeing this trailer. It hardly showed any gameplay footage at all. All I saw was a flashy cinematic. It really teach me anything about the game.

Here is what I gather the game will be like after hearing about it and watching the trailer:
-It will be similar to Skylanders: This means you must pay extra for characters. I don't understand why everyone loves this. I don't have the cash to pay for a new figure just to play more of the game. However, I did not gather any of this from the trailer and I have no idea if the gameplay mechanics are similar to Skylander or not.
-It has extensive customization. This could be a very good quality if executed correctly and was really the only thing I gathered from the trailer.

All I'm saying is that anyone could make a bad game look great with a flashy commercial. I need more information to be interesting in buying something like this.

Disney Infinity 3DS is a 'very different experience' - Official Nintendo Magazine

Looks like it won't be as good as the console versions. :/

You never know. The 3DS Skylanders games are different to the console games, but they are still as good as each other, they just offer different experiences.

The console version is a must buy for me. But I'm going to have to see more footage of the 3DS version before I decide if I'll buy it.

the 3ds version will probably be more story and action oriented with levels and such stuff, not an open world game.

*BUMP*

The game's released, and I bought it this past Sunday! I haven't started playing it yet, since there are so many games I'm playing at the moment (that's what happens when I reserve games that are all being released so close to each other)! There was a mini-event at the GameStop I went to, as it opened at 9:00 AM instead of the usual 11:00 AM, and the first 30 costumers got a free mini-guide. Plus, since I pre-ordered it, I got to choose a free figure to go along with the 3 that came with the game.

Just as a reminder, the game comes packaged with Sully from the Monsters series, Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Carribean, and Mr. Incredible from The Incredibles. Not all the figures that have been announced are available, as they will each be part of new "ways" that will come in time. Here's a list of the figures and the waves they will be part of:

Wave 1

-Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean)
-Hector Barbossa (Pirates of the Caribbean)
-Davy Jones (Pirates of the Caribbean)
-James P. Sullivan (Monsters University)
-Mike Wazowski (Monsters University)
-Randall Boggs (Monsters University)
-Mr. Incredible (The Incredibles)
-Elastigirl/Mrs. Incredible (The Incredibles)
-Violet (The Incredibles)
-Dash (The Incredibles)
-Syndrome (The Incredibles)
-Lightning McQueen (Cars)
-Holley Shiftwell (Cars)
-Francesco Bernoulli (Cars)
-Tow Mater (Cars)
-Lone Ranger (The Lone Ranger)
-Tonto (The Lone Ranger)

Wave 2

-Jessie (Toy Story)
-Buzz Lightyear (Toy Story)
-Sheriff Woody (Toy Story)
-Jack Skellington (The Nightmare Before Christmas)

Wave 3

-Anna (Frozen)
-Elsa (Frozen)

Wave 4

-Wreck-It Ralph (Wreck-It Ralph)
-Vanellope Von Schweetz (Wreck-It Ralph)
-Rapunzel (Tangled)

Wave 5

-Phineas Flynn (Phineas and Ferb)
-Perry the Platypus (Phineas and Ferb)
-Sorcerer Mickey (Fantasia)

For me, the free figure I chose was Hector Barbossa. I'm going to have to wait to get the Toy Story characters, Jack Skellington, Wreck-It Ralph, or Sorcerer Apprentice Mickey.

...Also, thinking about making a poll or tournament about most-wanted figures for this game. And for anyone not convinced about this game, here's a review from GameTrailers:

[Watched the review]

It looks interesting but it's just way too expensive for me.

I'm not a fan of the figures included in the starter pack and having your progress limited so it forces you to buy more figures is just annoying.

It's more DLC than actual game.

I love Disney and Pixar but this just doesn't seem worth it to me. I'd rather spend my money on blu-rays of the films.

3DS version doesn't look too interesting, just seems to be another mini game compilation. I did get to try the console (Wii U in my case) version at GameStop. I loved it, most of my time was spent in the Toy Box ( a gigantic sandbox mode, it's extremely fun and simple to use). Didn't try too much of the actual campaigns. The price is kinda turning me off, especially the figures. I might get it soon just because of how fun the sandbox is. And then I might buy the figures I like.

A few of the people I'm subscribed to on YouTube have started playing Disney Infinity and it definitely looks like a really fun and interesting game. The figures are just too expensive and, if it's anything like Skylanders, I'm guessing you have to buy at least one character from each series to experience that "story". I remember being told that you should buy at least one figure of each "element" (or something) for Skylanders or I wouldn't be able to get through certain areas. I can't remember exactly what was said, but it was something to that extent, and that turned me off instantly.

I plan on buying a Wii U eventually, so I might think about buying it then. Assuming I can still find figures online by then and they're not ridiculously overpriced.

...It's about dang time! Hopefully we'll get the whole Mickey gang in time, including Goofy, Minnie, Daisy, Pete and maybe even Pluto (though I recall reading that "animal" characters won't be featured in Disney Infinity 2.0). Personally, I hope they go all the way, and include Horace Horsecollar, Clarabelle Cow, Scrooge McDuck, and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit as well!
