Default Mario Party 3DS (Offical Discussion Thread)

So if anyone played the one for the DS I say in my opinion was a really good game! The minigames are fun and really don't get stale like like in Mario Party 3, 4, 7, and 8 Plus it has personal achievements but whatever! If Nintendo does created a MP3DS what do you expect from it? I say
1. 3D games (the 3D has to be involved)
2. Original story (NO MORE BOWSER)
3. 6-8 boards would be good
4. Good character selection (give us dk back!)
5. Upbeat songs
6. Online VS (this would make the game amazing)
7. Streetpass and Spotpass
8. Gallery with goodies (MP4 and MP7 style)
9 Difficulty like MP3 would be good
10. Mii Use

If there is anything I left out feel to post it I would love to see other peoples ideas

Argggh, you totally got my hopes up.

I'd be all for a Mario Party 3DS, the series is awesome and the system definitely has the online/local wireless capabilities. Even playing against computer players wouldn't get old all that quickly (I may be wrong, afterall I haven't played MK7).

I don't own Mario Party DS, but I see it all the time in stores, and I've really been itching to play some Mario Party. Funny you should make this thread.

I would love to see a 3DS version. I loved Mario Party 4 on Gamecube the most, but the other GC games were awesome as well. I so hope they do create a 3DS one. I would be one happy camper.

Mario Party 3DS was just announced on today's Nintendo Direct. It'll be released in Winter.

If there's no local and online multiplayer, I really don't see the point in getting this. With that said, if there IS online multiplayer - I can see this being amazing. Especially among our forum community.

So damn excited. Loved MP DS. The game looks gorgeous. Online will make it day one. Without online I might wait for a cheaper price.

Well this is nice. MPDS was one of the better games in the series, and if the good things I've heard about MP9 are true, the new team should do a spectacular job with this one.

The fact that they didn't outright confirm an online mode worries me, but I'd still buy it with or without the online capabilities because local multiplayer is still priceless.

It wouldn't make much sense if it didn't have multiplayer. That's where Mario Party shines the most, after all! I would probably still buy it if it didn't have multiplayer, but I'd be seriously heartbroken. Local and Download Play would be enough to make me happy.

I'm sure it will have local MP but online MP we'll see. I do think it will have online MP because Nintendo is really pushing the online component in their games. Mario Golf World Tour will have online MP and communities, MK7 has that too, Mario Tennis Open did as well. So i don't see why this won't, especially when this game is meant to be played with others. With that said, even if by chance it has no online MP I'll get it at some point but if it does I will certainly buy it day one.

It baffles me that Nintendo has yet to implement Online into any of its Mario Party titles....

It's ridiculous that Fortune Street (a somewhat similar, though not really, board based game) had online and none of the Mario Parties released thus far have. Square Enix developed Fortune Street (as well as Mario Sports Mix, which also had online) with guidance from Nintendo so it's definitely possible and capable of being done well.

Recently it seems Nintendo has made online more of a priority, but I really need them to prove to me that they're committed by giving this some online features.

Also, they waited until this direct to announce Mario Golf's online features (which are really robust), so there's always the chance they're just holding back the announcement.

There is at least some form of multiplayer in the game.

It has to be online. Having four players at once locally is a little unbelievable (4 3DS systems, 4 copies of the game or download play?).

Either way, it will be amazing.

Well, of course there is local. I would imagine download play will be their biggest priority in terms of multiplayer just because download play on the DS with four players was when the game was the most fun.

The last time the series didn't have multiplayer was MP Advance. Even Nintendo must know how terrible that one was...

I actually liked it, it is more of a solo thing to play that one, I wish it was longer and had more files thought, I still have mines completed and don't want to delete it

To tell you the truth, this one looks like it will be great.
The one on the DS wasn't too bad either.

I hope it's similar to MP9 because that was the most fun Mario Party game.

It's not, and honestly I think it's much better for it. MP9's minigames were great but I absolutely hated the mini-stars and car mechanics. I feel like it made the game too much about what you rolled on the dice and just luck in general. Having to earn coins to purchase stars is just a much better mechanic even if the gaming community is going to complain that there isn't any innnovation. I'm hoping for MP9 level minigames with classic get-to-the-star gameplay with the usual level gimmicks (the boo lick mechanic in MP9 in the Mansion stage was an awesome example of what could be done).

I don't wanna sound like a downer, but the game looks like a race-to-the-finish type of game, rather than a Monopoly-like game.

How do I know this? Two facts:
1) No currency in the game
2) The goal that Mario reaches at the end of the gameplay footage

So yeah. It's like MP9, except now it's even less like a MP game. Granted, I enjoyed 9, but I'd rather play any other MP game before it, save for 8 and Advance.

That's alright as long as its mini-games are as fun as MP9's

I never played MP9 but I am thinking more of MP1 style minigames with a 3D twist!

I sort of get it. I think online play would be difficult to get going because of people quitting on games where they're losing and all that -- and plus their primary audience, Japan, is going to be playing Local-Play. But still disappointing. I won't be buying it.

I don't get why Nintendo is so hesitant with Online play. This game would be perfect for it. I used to love playing it with my family. I am still a little excited for it, and might pick it up, but the chances of me picking it up have shrunk a lot due to their not being online play. That bothers me.

This is so disappointing! I was really looking forward to online play. I thought that since it was the 3DS, it would have online! I love playing locally with friends and family, I do, but I really wanted online. It's so much fun to be right best to the person you're playing with. I love laughing and fighting with them... But, now that I'm older, I don't live by some of my friends and family! I really want to play with my cousins, and the only way I can do that now is if they're right next to me? Wow. Awfully disappointing. I still will be picking the game up, since I'm a huge Mario Party fan, but I really wanted to play online with my cousins. We always had the greatest times playing Mario Party together, and I was hoping we could try to recover the laughs with a Skype call and some online play for this title

I'm actually gonna pick up a used copy now. Wasn't gonna get any after no online, but just learned you can do all the multiplayer with just one cartridge. So since I live with my gf and one other roommate and we all have 3DS's, ill pick up a cheap copy.

I got Zelda and Mario Party yesterday and started on Zelda but just took a break from it to play an hour of Mario Party. I've never played a Mario Party title before so I may not be the greatest reviewer but the hour (1:07 according to my Activity Log) has been fun and I can see myself playing for many hours further. I like board games in general and the random luck angle doesn't bother me too much -- it can work both ways. On the first board (the only one I've played so far) I got stuck in Bowser's lava trap for many turns even though I won many minigames for bonus dice, but then I got a Crazy Kamek item which switched me with Mario, allowing me to win on my next turn. It has typically colorful Nintendo graphics and, as always with me, the 3D adds an extra element. Lack of online play is annoying considering how well it's been integrated into other games and it seems like a natural for a board game. But there's download play and on Thanksgiving there will be 3 3DS's so at least there's that form of multiplayer.

I'll be picking up Island Tour later on Xmas, simply because I own every single Mario Party game, starting with MP2 (I got the original later on), and I just can't miss out on this one. It has sort of become a personal goal to me.
And why would I let this one out? I mean hell, I got MP9 and MP Advance, so why would I not get this one, the one that looks slightly better than both of them and MP8?

I will eventually get it, but it is not one of my priorities. I would probably wait until I can find it a lot cheaper.

Kmart is having a black friday sale with ALBW, MP, and Pokemon X priced at $30 so I;m going to pick those up. The review haven't been very positive, but MP reviews usually aren't and I've enjoyed most of them, especially MP DS.

There was a Buy 2 Get 1 Free at GameStop yesterday for Black Friday, so I picked it up.

For the people that are already playing the game: I have a question- is there any way to change the CPU levels? They're tragically easy on whatever mode they're in, and I want them to be in hard mode or better (I enjoyed brutal mode in the GameCube version!!)

Guys, I have a question.

Is Mario Party Island Tour As good as MP9?

I enjoyed MP9 most out of all MP games because it was based mostly on luck which made playing with inexperienced players a challenge not a boring gaming session.

So I want to know if MPIT is similar to MP9.

Thanks.

Okay so I got the game and I went through the 7 boards the game had to offer by myself.

First of all, it's really different than MP9. The game gets back to its individual players roots. Yup, you're all alone again. Also, the majority of the boards are based on "first to reach the end wins" formula, with a twist on each board. How good a board is, IMO, is based on the twist. If you want the board that is the closest to the Mario Party 9 boards, go play Star-Crossed Skyway. This one still has mini stars to collect.

Shy Guy's Shuffle City wasn't available because it required 3-4 people to play, and CPUs weren't available for this one. I won't be able to play this one ever since I'll be playing this game with at most one person, unless I'm that lucky. I guess this one doesn't count ever then.

I found 4 of the 6 boards I could play to be actually fun. About the two others...

Banzai Bill's Mad Mountain is boring and can be frustrating.

Rocket Road is horrible. Like, this map was made so you can win the whole game by just winning a minigame. Seriously.

The minigames are overall good from what I've played so far.

The game overall is not that bad, but there are better Mario Party games out there. It's a good portable one.

It handles the multiplayer the same way as Mario Party DS. One game cartridge for the whole game between multiple 3DS consoles. That is really great, and more games should do so this way. I remember the loading times to be really really really low (almost instant) in Mario Party DS's multiplayer, even in 4 players. I wonder if it's gonna be the same in that 3DS game when I'll play it with someone in a few days.

There's no online mode, though, and while I don't care very much about online Mario Party, that alone makes some people turn way from the game.

I've yet to try the bonus modes the game offers.

That's sort of what killed it for me as well. There are some games that can get away with having no online, but at this point, Mario Party games REALLY need it IMO.
