Luckily, I haven't played the game, in its entirety, since it first released on Gamecube, so I am having a blast playing it again on the Wii U.

The new sail is awesome, and all the little tweaks are a nice addition to the game. I would still be playing it right now but the controller needed to be charged

I hope I'm not the only one stoked by the new trailer. It just reeks of old Zelda charm. It's exactly the handheld Zelda I was looking for

IMO Link looks like the Original Legend of Zelda Booklet artwork of Link. I think its pretty awesome. Even though I am digging playing through Wind Waker again after 11 years or whatever, I am much more excited for A Link Between Worlds!

Pal version comes with an awesome treasure chest preorder bonus....what do we get? DL code for Oracle of Seasons. Thats alright I guess, but the musical treasure chest looks really cool.

wait wait wait, so this takes place AFTER A Link to the Past, and this trailer clearly shows Link getting the Master Sword. Assuming this isn't just a flashback to what happened in ALttP this means that all those countless debates about the Zelda timeline were worthless.

One line from aLttP got argued to death, but I guess that's out the window now.

Well Link could do what he did in OoT and put the Master Sword back. It's not like he HAS to take the sword with him. Unless I'm missing something else.

I feel the same way. I'm happy with my 3DS and my XL so I won't be getting it, but I can't deny its beauty. (The simple and elegant designs are my favorites.) Looking forward to vicariously living through my friend who will be picking it up though.

I wish Nintendo would stop refusing to make Super Nintendo games on the 3DS. A Link to the Past 3D Classic would sell so well with this game coming out.

I wish Nintendo would have an account based dlc system so that any game you buy can be played on all Nintendo hardware so that you don't have to buy multiple copies. I know it will never happen though.

It probably won't happen. It would cost them a lot! On the bright side you can still play all of your wii virtual console titles on the wiiu with the system transfer.

Nope, would rather have access to them on the Wii U, and that means, on the controller. It costs them more money to NOT do that, as some people who WOULD buy a crapload of DLC wont because of that fact.

Just pre ordered it from Game today... The Limited Edition version that's comes as a bundle with the collectors treasure chest, copy of the game, an A1 poster, and a download code for Zelda DX

Not gonna play it yet though because I'm still playing Ocarina of Time 3D, then Four swords, then Twilight Princess, then Zelda DX, then Skyward Sword, THEN THIS... Yeah I'm not up to date with Zelda yet aha

As we're getting closer to release I'm getting more and more impatient. Luckily Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon arrives tommorrow to hold me over.

There seems to be great reviews across the board (except for Destructoid) from what I have seen. 9.0 on Gamespot; 9.4 on IGN; 10 on Nintendolife

Bravo Nintendo. This, along with Pokemon X/Y, make this holiday better than last year's (Paper Mario: Sticker Star, lol), at least so far as the 3DSs retail lineup is concerned.

Edit: And by eShop I so meant to say retail (even though you can buy retail games on the eShop).

I lost all hope in review sites long ago but the main criticism in Destructoid's review was "lack of heart". What?

Either way, it seems to be a solid game and I look forward to picking it up.

Looks rather underwhelming according to even the positive reviews, but I'm sure I'll still enjoy it. Can't be worse than the DS games.

It just has no chance to live up to the high expectations set by people who played A link to the past when it was new, including myself I'm guessing. If you didn't grow up with it you have no idea how amazing it was at that time.

I wouldn't say hated, but I agree with you about the forced controls. Also Spirit Tracks mode of transportation was boring. I almost feel the same way about WW but it's slightly more fun.

From what I've seen, is it just me or is it a vastly far jump backwards compared the the classics like Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask? I wish Nintendo would make another Zelda along those lines instead of the cartoony look and feel of link to the past. Ocarina of time was made a decade and a half ago and still reigns as the best Zelda game ever made.

I would love to see another Zelda made following the footsteps of these two masterpieces instead of a gameboy Zelda with better graphics. The Ocarina of time 3D port proves it can be done and that game, while originally made for N64, still is my favorite 3Ds game.

Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask may be classics, but so is A Link To the Past.

if you are wanting a zelda game set in a 3d overworld like oot and mm, you are better off getting a wii u and the loz game that will be coming out for it, bc as far as i know all handheld zelda games (apart from oot3d, which is a remake) have a top down view, and nintendo wont be stopping that pattern any time soon


but all LOZ games for home consoles after the N64 have been created in the 3D overworld like in OOT and MM, where 3D images were 1st used in nintendo instead of 8bit sprites like NES and SNES, 1st 3d loz game being oot
(by 3d i dont mean 3d in the 3ds, i mean like this compared to this)

Some people (like me) do not want 2D Zelda games to die just because the handheld is capable of full 3D games. The games you are talking about, are CONSOLE games, so buying the Wii U will ensure that you DEFINITELY get the 3D Zelda game you want so badly.

2D Zeldas are great and this is coming from someone who isn't an old man

All handheld zelda games should be top-down, all console ones(since oot) should be 3d.

Meh. I'm a fan of both bird view and third person view Zelda games, but I don't want the handheld systems to neglect the latter. I love playing OoT on the 3DS, imo it still has the best use of 3D on the system, I want more of that. I can't enjoy the 3D effect as much when in bird view, and I never liked not being able to see very far around me.

Supposedly this game will have a more discovered focused gameplay similar to the original LoZ and OoT. Hopefully that's true.

Why can't they do both on both systems? As we can see, the 3DS is capable of playing classic-style and 3D Zelda games well. The Wii U obviously will be getting the next 3D Zelda game, but that doesn't mean we won't get a classic-style one anytime soon. They shouldn't be limited by which console they want to develop for.

Just wondering... Is anyone making an OT for this game with one of them fancy introductions, story, character descriptions, pictures and all that? It's almost out now. And no, don't ask me to do it! I could say I'm too busy, but I'm just far too lazy to bother with such things.

But this one actually looks like something I could get into..Tempted to get it. Also the streetpass battles look fun! Hmmm...

I am at a point in the game where I have no idea what to do or where to go. It is just so vast, this is where games like Mario have the advantage as you have a set route

It is nothing like Mario, so can't compare. If you wanted a Mario game, should have played one. Honestly, you are the only person I have heard of, to get stuck in this Zelda game. I won't say Zelda is super linear, but its never leaves you without info on your destination...

I got stuck on a Zelda Wii game as well so I eventually sold it. I really love this game but I dunno what to do or where I am meant to be. I know I need to find like secret dens in the strange world but I dunno which ones I have been to or which ones I need to go to and I don't know which weapons I need. It is really confusing.
