Default MOTHER 2 IS COMING TO NA/EURO!
On Wii U. Virtual Console, North America and Europe. Finally.

Edit: Just to clear things up this is Earthbound on the SNES. It is called Mother 2: Gyiyg Strikes Back in Japan.

I could see the reason this is going to take a while, maybe nintendo is ripping out all the copyright issues the original had.

The posts above me confuses me a bit. Is Mother 2 actually going to be on the Wii U and Virtual Console in Europe and North America? If they are going to remove issues involving copyright, I wonder how different the game would be if it changes at all.

GBA games are coming to Virtual Console. So, it's definitely possible.

Not that hyped. :/

Didn't like the game on SNES that much. I'll probably still get it, just to increase the chances of getting a proper Mother 3 localization, which would personally be much more exciting that a port of a nearly 20 year old game.

I have to agree on the Mother 3 localization. The game itself was quite enjoyable last I recall it. But, I wouldn't mind having Earthbound/Mother 2 for now, after all.

I was excited to pick this up, because I've never played any Earthbound game before; but it seems like Nintendo picked the wrong one to localize. :/

Oh well, I might still pick it up anyway.

It was a joke. People would read "False" and be like, "OMG, it isn't true! *Hopes destroyed*" and then be even happier when they double-checked and found out it was true. Kinda a twisted sense of humor, but lol.

Will this see the light on the 3DS? Handhelds are perfect for that kind of gameplay and style. I know my family will get a Wii U eventually but it won't be in my room.

So apparently, the music wasn't an issue:

EarthBound's music wasn't what held back VC release - Destructoid

Didn't bother saying why they haven't re-released the game sooner, but at least now it seems like the game will be unaltered.

Usually Earthbound goes for 150$ soo its not that big of stretch that people would buy a WiiU for it

There were very few comments that even said this sold the WiiU on them, and those few were just "well now I need a WiiU", which isn't exactly a set in stone sale for Nintendo as it is someone posting online for the heck of it.

You be surprised how people are. I know some people that will buy the Wiiu just because of Smash Bros. Do I blame them? No, but it seems like a waste to get a system for one game.
