Default What's is it that makes Luigis Mansion: Dark Moon great?

Hello everyone I've been wondering, what is it that make this game so awesome? I mean everybody seems to love it and I was wondering why? I own the game, I think the first mansion was like very difficult with all those puzzles and all, and then it was just way too easy? I mean the puzzles where kind off obvious then so what makes it so great? I see the game listens perfect, you know great graphics, online multiplayer, achievments, but I didn't feel that it was as shocking as when I played Kid Icarus: Uprising, I felt the story a bit lacking,I've spent 70 + hours playing it, what I really enjoy about it are the achievments, I've spent many time catching boos and gems.. And the online multiplayer is awesome with 4 people but sometimes glitches make the people disconnects and that puts me down a little... But I want to know what makes this game so awesome and I want to feel it!

The puzzles were right on target for me. I didn't have to look things up but sometimes it took some trial and thinking. I think, mostly, it's the story and emotion and humour involved -- but also the whole thing was just pretty exciting. Shrug, what makes any game great?

I think what makes a game exciting are those. Wtf moments where you are amazed something is possible in it, also the epicness of it, fighting Gods, saving the world, etc..

Honestly, I want to know the same, except my reason for asking is the opposite... I want to know why I'm not enjoying it so much. Being such a big fan of the original you'd expect to be a fan of this one (even with the differences), but it's just.. Not clicking for me. I got to the fourth mansion ten days ago and haven't picked the game back up since. I just don't feel like playing it, y'know?

I'm not sure if it's the mission-based structure's effect on the game's pacing/flow, or the fact that I MUST perfect all the stages, but when I do play it's not really fun. It's almost as if my sessions with it are just ways to pass time instead of have fun.

I think I'm going to try ignoring the gems, boos, and ranks the next time I pick it up. Not completely, but not agonize and check every little detail because I need that last gem either. Hopefully that'll make it a bit funner...

As a side-note the multiplayer is super fun if you don't run into fat little jerks who wait around to snatch a key then just sit there, ruining the whole group. Go throw your system in a fire please, kthx.

>< I pretty much got 1-stars on all my playthroughs, and less than half the gems. I will never complete this game. I thought I searched around thoroughly each level but most of the gems elude me. It'd be fun to complete it too but it's never really my main goal.

That's ok, everyone has their own perspective. Personally, I just thought the design and amount of thought put in to the games puzzles was through the roof, rivaling some of Zelda's best in fact. Mission structure was a mixed bag. I liked the added replay value, but at the same time I didn't like how it felt sort of fragmented. Once you get past it though, you have what is a very solid and intelligent game with tight controls, great humor and impressive visuals (at least in my opinion).

Well I am getting all gems since I already caught all boos and I think I'm enjoying it more than my first playthrough but what really cuts me down is that I think you cannot find all gems in one level, tho the levels kind of add replay value I guess
