Could this be the 3rd exclusive Sega title?

sega vs nintendo all stars racing
mechanically based on mario kart ds and sonic and sega all stars racing
roster taken from a wide variety of franchises from both companies
fanservice levels of smash bros and sonic racing transformed
remixes handled by richard jacques and the tokyo ead sound team

I'm trying to think how'd they balance the roster between Sega and Nintendo characters. I feel like they would most likely restrict it to just sonic characters and they'd better have a huge roster after how small MK7's was. Something like this:

Nintendo:

5. Yoshi
6. Bowser
7. Bowser Jr.
8. Donkey Kong
9. Diddy Kong

11. Toad

any roster with big the cat is one i'm okay with

Personally, I think if they did want to go this way then they'd be best off as trying to incorporate ALL of both groups' franchises. IE don't just do a 'Mario Kart with Sonic characters' but maybe try a whole new racer in a NintendoXSega fashion. They could have characters and tracks from things as vast as Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Kirby, Sonic, and Phantasy Star.

I would approve of something like this, it sounds interesting.

That would be better suited for a game like Super Smash Bros.

I really don't like the idea of a NintendoKart. Samus tossing bananas out of a gokart just sounds silly.

She could toss power bombs instead.

Yep. And instead of the Blue Shell, it could be the super power bomb. How awesome would a Screw Attack power up be? Or a Kirby suck power where he sucks the nearest kart in front of him back towards him? That'd be pretty awesome if you're in 2nd place but the guy in first has a huge lead.

and samus throwing banana peels at pikachu and an animated nes accessory isn't?

Not every game has to be the ULTIMATE CROSSOVER like Smash Bros.

MarioKart works best with cartoony characters like Mario or Sonic.

well, maybe i'm just different, as i was disappointed when the more "serious" characters, like ryo and the virtua fighter characters, were removed from the sega racing series. i'd rather just play as characters i enjoy than worry about "omg this guy would never actually drive a kart my experience is ruined!!!!" mario and sonic have both gotten their fair share of representation in kart racers and i'd like to see them expand. a lot of people's favorite part of sonic racing transformed was the recognition of more obscure series like panzer dragoon, burning ranger and skies of arcadia, so i think i'd be neat to get more of that, or a nintendo equivalent.

I think something like that would work better in a different racing game series- something more F-Zeroish (if that makes any sense).

I don't see the need to completely hijack the MarioKart series and turn it into SuperSmashKart.

yeah. We need more serious characters in Mario Kart. I can see it now.

oh, i was assuming this was a totally new series independent of mario kart. i'd imagine nintendo are just working on mario kart by themselves.

I'd be fine with them putting Mario in Sonic, but not Sonic in Mario.

Well on one hand, Mario is in a Sega Racers styled game, and on the other Sonic is in a Mario Kart styled game. So there is a bit of a difference. Sega Racers have characters with widely varying aesthetic and style, so Mario would fit well. But in Mario Kart the characters are 'similar' so Sonic would be a bit odd.
