Default Fairy Type Confirmed. (11/06/2013)

No really.

Fairy has been confirmed to be the type for Sylveon, as well as an additional type for some older Pok?mon, including Gardevoir, Jigglypuff and Marill thus far. Fairy type attacks have also been confirmed to be 2x effective against Dragon types.

In addition to confirming the new type, the Nintendo E3 presentation also revealed five new sixth generation Pok?mon, as well as a Nintendogs-esque mini game, demonstrated in the trailers the below. The official site has been updated with more details of the game's features, including the new friend system, and details about new battle features.

Edit: More details have emerged from CoroCoro, courtesy of Serebii.

New characters: Sana, Tieruno, Toroba, Pansy, and Viola, and four more new Pok?mon, including the pre-evolutions of Vivillon.

Noivern and Vivillon

Talonflame

Clauncher and Skrelp

At least it isn't Light type.

Thank Nintendo.

I'm very happy with what we saw today. My Annie gets a new type, we still see trainers in battles, and now I never have to buy Nintendogs.

Based on all the new pokemon shown, it looks like this generation will have awesome designs. I thought gen 4 and 5 were lacking a bit, but this gen might have the best designs yet.

And I can't wait to treat my glaceon and vaporeon like little royalties!

Fairy type x2 against dragon? I guess it makes since but it's kinda sad now that your Dragonite will be x2 weak against a giant pink marshmallow known as Jigglypuff.

Well, I'm glad the sylveon speculation can be done now. Fairy NEEDS to be weak to poison though.

I hope the rumor about ice being weak to fairy is false. Ice will be just as bad as psychic/grass

Just watch Nintendo be stupid and make Fairy the absolute best type with the new strongest Pokemon being some kind of fairy princess. Not hating against those who may want that but, something about Fairy doesn't sound very intimidating.

Why do people look for the worst possible thing Nintendo could do. Seems stupid to me .____.

Why does every type have to sound intimidating? I'm pretty sure they'll give Fairy-type a few strengths and a weakness or two to keep things balanced. They're adding a new type, but that doesn't mean they're gonna completely throw off the game's balance.

They're already using to help balance out Dragon-types. I love dragons and all, but they have been a bit overpowered. You rarely have to worry about other Dragon-types because in-game trainers barley use them and when they do, my attack always seems to hit first anyway. I feel like Ice-type was the only real threat for Dragon-types.

In a sense, maybe it's just me but I can't see a fairy attacking/killing something. Now if they treat fairy as more magical/supernatural/kinda similar to psychic, then I would have an easier time with it. Again not trying to bother you guys just saying my opinion.

I for one, am looking forward to beating the machismo out of big scary dragons with my cute little fairy princess.

Fairy seems like it could double as a cosmic type too. If fairy sounds too 'weak' treat it like cosmic. It would have probably been better named cosmic anyway.

Totally called Marill being a Fairy type, along with the obvious Sylveon and Jigglypuff.

Fairy type.... Doesn't really sound that great. If they make more types there should be a light type or more of a space type which deoxys and other pokemon can fall under.

So because Fairy Type is good against Dragon, that means...

If only Jiggles were capable of outclassing a dragonite with a simple type advantage. ;P

More details have emerged from CoroCoro, courtesy of Serebii.

New characters: Sana, Tieruno, Toroba, Pansy, and Viola, and four more new Pok?mon, including the pre-evolutions of Vivillon.

The cub pokemon is pretty cute, and it is interesting that we now have an electric/normal and fire/normal now....even though it looks a little like shinx. I'm wondering if sylveon is going to be the only old pokemon to get a new evolution though, or if they are saving all of those for last to reveal.

Hey wouldn't that be weird?
Jigglypuff has been classified as "Normal" type since the series began then all of the sudden her type attribute would all be changed into something out of the blue. "Normal" type are one of the best Pok?mon I've used so far since they can use a variety of moves like surf, shockwave, and lots more...

Other than that... I never heard anything about a "Normal" type to have a sub-type attribute since that was the whole point of being "Normal."

With that out of the way... wouldn't it made more sense if they made "Fairy" type be super effective against "Dark" type since fairies are something related to light? That was still a good move though... Nerfing "Dragon" type n' all...

Dark doesn't need another weakness though, and the "light" type is fighting type, to be the neutrlizer of dark.

Pok?beach's source, that has been right about everything else so far, tells us that Dark will in fact be weak to Fairy. At this point I don't see any reason to doubt them.

To emphasize on the new Fairy type, I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo adds another evolution to some of the existing Pokemon that are now fairy types.

sylveon was the perfect way to introduce fairy type and this is the same with umbreon. im hoping now that there's another eeveelution to pair with sylveon. im guessing bug or fighting would be good. going with the dna/organic theme

Has Clefairy/Clefable been confirmed to be fairy type as well? I mean it would only make sense lol.

I would be surprised if Clefairy (and his evolutionary line) didn't become Fairy-type. I mean, he does have "fairy" in his name!

They only showed off a few, but I'm sure there are plenty of Pok?mon that'll become part Fairy-type. I have a feeling that they only showed off the ones that they did to let us know that some Pok?mon might be changing. It could also have been a way to help us better understand what Fairy-types might be like, since we would've only had Sylveon to reference.

Most of the Pok?mon with baby evolutions have always been considered fairy. Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Marill, even Pikachu was described as a fairy Pok?mon in some of the games. I don't really know why. Mostly the 'cutesy' Pok?mon.

Edit: Fairy Egg-Group Pok?mon, that's where I've noticed this. http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wi...ry_(Egg_Group)

Fire-Flying? How many of those are there?

'Cause that Talonflame clearly evolves from Fletchling.
