So...what exactly is project ASTRA?!?!

project ASTRA simply put is a graphic novel I've been working on for awhile. Mostly I've been working on the story concept and of course concept art here and there for the visual material. I can't say I'm far in progress despite having worked on it for some time now. The reason behind this is because the original plan of the project was overdone by a newfound approach. I wasn't really liking where it was going in the past and sort of stumbled into a endless session of both writer's and artist's block. Needless to say something happened that opened my eyes and allowed my creation to take a new flight, for the better.

What happen you may ask? Well, let's say I had a crazy dream about my project. I was playing out scenes in my dream and since I was looking through the eyes of the character, it was an intense experience! When I awoke, I couldn't believe that I had actually dreamed that. Usually I just forget about my dreams but this was so insane, due to it being pretty much a revision of my work, that I immediately wrote down everything I dreamed of the following day. This is a very big deal for me, and I hope to make a it very good experience for others.

So, here's what I'm willing to shed light on about my project so far:

? This is not the actual title of my graphic novel. That will be revealed at some point in time. The title may not make sense, but it will once the story is complete.
? I'm going all out with this graphic novel as it will be full color! And I mean not just pen drawings with color put in. I mean art like what you've seen in the teaser pic that lead you here.
? I still haven't fully decided whether or not I want this to be comic style or manga style. I'm currently leaning on comic style, but I may still change my decision.
? Regardless of the direction I choose for the book, it will be available in English and maybe Japanese. Other languages are being considered, but still indecisive this early on in the project.
? It took a very long time to decide this, but the novel will be done digitally. At first I was going to do a "tradigital" approach, using COPICS for the coloring, but I later changed my mind.
? The programs that I'm using for this project are Sketchbook Pro 6 and Manga Studio 5.
? Most of the main characters' faces are based on REAL people, as in people I know or have contacted in some way. Note ONLY their faces affect the character, not the personality.
? I want this to be a physical experience, but if their is some sort of reason to do a digital release as well, I may possibly consider it, but as for now it's physical book only.
? My expected release of this is sometime in 2014

I will constantly update information of this profile and various sites about the progress of the project. Meaning I will be posting concept art, story progress, and character bios all the time, so there will always be some type of news to look forward to. I made a twitter a little while ago to update this project.
