Overpriced, as usual

Better than paying $200+

I really don't think 10 dollars is overpriced. o.O It's still a fantastic game. Why should a new game cost 60 dollars even if it's bad?

I'm suprised that the game has been bumped up a notch on the rating scale nearly everywhere. If this game gets a T rating in America using the somewhat censored US version, I can only imagine the edits Mother 3 would go through to keep it at a T rating. Then again, most organizations do not rate games on a scale of emotional impact.
Does anyone know if I would need an HDD for my Basic Set Wii U to download this game?

The game's only around 40 megabytes. As long as you have the space, you can download it.

Pro Tip: For you people who want the ultimate weapons you can make a restore point before the fight with the enemy that drops them and reload it until you get said weapon!

Why on Earth would someone pay $200 for Earthbound? If I won't pay $10 for it, I definitely wouldn't pay $200.

I vote with my wallet, and Nintendo never ceases to overprice their digital downloads. And people just let them do it. And they wonder why people download stuff "illegally."

But how is 10$ overpricing?

Just because it is old doesn't mean it isn't worth $10. While it is kind of weird Nintendo added a premium to this game, it doesn't mean that it is a rip-off. Why did you put illegally in a quotation? Downloading it off the internet is illegal.

Why is 10$ for a game "overpriced"? Because it's old? New retail games come out every month at 60$ that wished they had the level of quality and polish of Earthbound, but no one complains about the price. I'm sure you can just skip buying 3 coffees and instead experience on of the best RPGs ever made.

And that, boys and girls, is what you call "****ing cheap".

Its a Super Nintendo game for one, your "license" only works on the WiiU, not the Wii, or the 3DS. It probably wont transfer to a new system etc... Its Nintendo price gouging as usual. Earthbound isn't the only virtual console game I find overpriced.

Being old doesn't make it not worth $10 sure, but the fact that the license isn't going to transfer anywhere else, and once you lose whatever system the license in on, its gone, and you will have to rebuy, makes it not worth it IMO. I put illegally in quotes, so that this doesn't devolve into "piracy" talk which isn't allowed here.

No one complains about crappy games being $60, because they vote with their wallet. They don't buy the game. And then the game ends up much cheaper, a lot sooner. That doesnt exist for Nintendo digital.

Anyways, I am probably just spoiled by the fact that any old game I buy thru PSN, I can play on 3 different systems, without buying multiple copies AND it will transfer to wherever I need it to. Also, im spoiled by Steam, meaning that if I can games that were released this year, for less than $10, why should I have to pay $10 for a game that came out like 20 years ago? Oh, and I am cheap!

Its alright that no one gives a crap about Nintendo digital pricing, just don't complain when their prices never go down.

I kind of agree with you, although a couple extra, unnanounced premiums (exact replica of the guide book that you got free with the game) make the price a little more worth it's while. However, the game was more expensive than most SNES games of the time, and Nintendo needs games and money to move their system. Even though the game is still overpriced than most of the other VC games, it is much better than paying $200+ (it's $250 at retail) for a SNES game.

Ended up buying it anyway... Just wanted SOMETHING to play on the Wii U. Nintendo Land isn't cutting it, and I am not interested in anything that is currently out, either because I already own the game on the PC or other consoles, or I just don't want it.

My first actual bought Wii U game, will probably be Windwaker HD. Although, if it comes out at $60, I don't know that I would immediately want to buy it.

This game is amazing. Anyone have any thoughts or experiences to share?

There's several games that are way over-hyped and aren't as good as people make them out to be. Earthbound...is an exception to my opinion. It's SO worth the $10 on the WiiU. I love it!

You, my good sir, based on my like history, value my humble opinion. Now go buy me a Wii U. I want to experience this game... ;_;

I never got into this game back in the day, but it has my attention today

I wish Ness could hold more items.

It gets much easier when Paula, Jeff, and Poo join your party. They have the same amount of spaces as Ness, so it's Ness x4.
