Default Which video game was the one that made you a gamer?

I saw a thread like this in another forum and though it'd be interested to ask here since well, probably all of us are gamers.

For me it was the very first Age of Empires and Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation. I played them both on my uncle's PC back in the day and it kinda made me want to get a PC so I can play them.

The n64 was my first system, but I guess I would say the original paper mario was the first game I played where I basically beat it all by my self and wanted to do everything like a 100%.

Zoo Tycoon was the first game I played regularly on my own. It got me interested first in other simulator games like The Sims and Rollercoaster Tycoon, then in strategy games like Civilization and Age of Empires.

The original Star Wars game. I don't mean on any home console. I mean the arcade cabinet Star Wars video game. Whenever I would go to the mall with my parents, I would beg for a mess of quarters and play that game to death. I loved it. I wouldn't say I ever got great at it, but I dug it.

Ya, I'm old.

It would be Moon Patrol in the arcade, for me. MS. Pacman on the Atari 2600 as well.

Duck Hunt was the first game I remember playing. Some Mario game on the OG Gameboy was the game that got me into gaming.

I don't quite know what the first game I played was, but it was either Pok?mon Blue or a SNES game (Super Mario World?).

its too hard to tell since it was so long ago. so maybe mario, donkey kong country, killer instinct, or the awesome duck hunt (with mario in 1 game).

I first had a PS2 and GBA, and later bought a DS. I wasn't really a gamer until the day I started getting interested in Mario stuff (it's a long story, and actually has nothing to do with Mario at all). I was looking for New Super Mario Bros, but because of my lack of experience I ended up with the GBA version of Mario World. So Mario World made me a gamer, and it eventually snowballed me into other franchises.

I played games before I was a Gamer like pokemon and Super mario kart,
but what really got me into gaming was super smash bros!
The game made me want to know about the characters like ness, fox, and Captain Falcon and so I played different games from nintendo and became a gamer!

If I remember correctly, the game that got me hooked into gaming was Pokemon Yellow for the GameBoy. After that game I never missed a Nintendo handheld and started spending hours on them...
I am more of a handheld fan, still I play lots of games on home consoles as well. The game that made me start playing heavily on home consoles was Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo64. Back then this game was too good to be true and it influenced me greatly.

Oh, I cannot forget the game that made me start playing on the PC as well: Age of Mythology. It had a gigantic inpackt on me. Before AoM I had never used a PC for playing games...

I was 3 when I was introduced to the NES by my dad and I always play Super Mario Bros all the time. By the age of 5 I could beat the game and I would know where all the hidden things were located in every level

That's pretty black and white. I guess Commander Keen, it was my first video game ever and after that I forced my dad to get us more MSDOS games. Damn, PC game was so much cooler back then.

Link to the Past was my first ever game.I loved everything about it, the puzzles, the exploration, the challenge. I played non-stop, almost everyday discovering something new, Hyrule was awesome, and the fact that there were two worlds to explore was unbelievable to my puny 6 year old brain. This game was the reason why open world games have always been my favorite, even today (and it will always hold a seat as one of the greatest games of all time IMO)

The first games I ever played and really worked at was...Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards - I used to sneak on to the Amiga to play them, and when I was caught I always get in to trouble XD Couple that with Shufflepuck Caf? and I was a gamer from a very young age.

I feel so old right now, you know.

Smash Bros Melee. I played it one Christmas at my older cousin's house when I was 7 or 8, and for a year after that I begged my parents for a Gamecube, until I finally got one as a gift.

Tetris on the Apple IIe ... before the 286 was even developed. I'm old, yes, but not that old. I was a gamer at 8 years of age, and Atari was "meh" for me, though I did play the games on the Atari, I got hooked on Tetris.

Pokemon blue.
I had played games before then, but not much, and I never really got into gaming before then. That game took many many hours of my childhood.

I guess the original Super Mario Bros.

My parents tell me I would watch my dad play it when I was like 2 years old, then I would want to play it all the time. So he gave me the controller, and I guess it took off from there.

I'd say all the days I wasted as a kid playing on my Sega Mega Drive made me into the gamer I am today. Playing Sonic 1-3 & Knuckles was where gaming became my world lol.

SMB on Super Nintendo is where it all started. What really made me a gamer, though, was Final Fantasy VII on the original Playstation. I was obsessed with that game. My step dad got me into it and I never looked back from there.

Not one particular game I guess. When I was a kid we traveled by car a lot. So when I got a GameBoy for my birthday (with Gargoyles Quest) that became my main source if entertainment on the go.

At home I had an Atari something, but we got rid of it because I never used it that much.

There is one game that did make a difference though...

It wasn't untill I got Secret of Mana on the SNES that I started playing RPGs. It really got me hooked.
So in a way, since my dad chose that game, it's his fault I'm an RPG addict right now ^_^

My first game too, I was 4. I got it the same day I got my Game Boy Pocket. Prior to that, I had played Tetris and Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins on my Grandpa's Game Boy, so I'd say 6GC turned me into a gamer.

Console wise, my first two games were Yoshi's Island and Lion King on SNES.

And as far as RPGs, which REALLY jump started my brain at a young age, Pokemon Red/Blue.

I don't think there was one, when I was small I would always watch my brother play games and that was what got me interested. There wasn't one specific one.

The original NES Zelda game was the first game that I was hooked on. I must have been two or three at the time, but I have very clear memories of playing it with my mom and watching her play it. I loved the 80's.

The game that really sealed the deal for me when it came to RPGs and gaming in general was Secret of Mana. I was hooked. Nothing will ever compare to SNES RPGs for me.

I believe I always messed around on the Commadore Amiga when I was younger playing all sorts of random games.
But I got more and more into them since the SNES, mainly Lufia Rise of the Sinistrals and Secret of Mana. I've played more of the very great classics later on as getting the good games back then was a trial on its own sort of.

The Legend of Zelda. It was unlike anything I have played before at the time. This game made me change from a casual gamer to a serious one.

That's easy. The original Assassin's Creed.

Ironic, as Assassin's Creed Black Flag was the last game I played before I went into this major gaming slump.
