Default Mega Evolved Pokemon question

Hi,

I have a question about Mega Evolved Pokemon.

Is there any reason why I would not mega evolve a pokemon in battle? Are there any disadvantages?

So far I can Mega Evolve Blastoise, Lucario and Blazikin.

Sorry, I am new to pokemon games. I have had a look on the forums and cant see if this has been asked.

TIA

No disadvantages, just increased stats and changed types or abilities.

Only one pokemon can megaevolve per battle and that pokemon has to carry an item to megaevolve, but that's really it.

If you don't need to megaevo any other pokemon that battle and they weren't going to hold a special item anyway(Most people have items that boost stats when they go online for a bit of an edge), then you should just megaevo immediately from what I see.

You're welcome, also bear in mind some pokemon's types change during megaevolution, that could be a risk as well such as charizard becoming mega charizard X and the opponent has a fairy type attack that now does twice as much damage.

This. I was in Battle Spot and mega evolved my Charizard. The opponent predicted I would do this and picked a Dragon attack.
