I've been watching Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Though Part 1 and 2 have been remade, I continue to watch Part 3 from the old days when I have the time.

I'm considering dropping death note (DONT FLAME ME) cuz N doesn't feel anywhere near (see what i did there) as cool as L.

Should I watch Code Guess (or whatever), Tokyo Majin or Deadman Wonderland if I do drop DN?

Parts 1 & 2 technically haven't been "remade" since the only animated adaptation of Part 1 was never released outside one single screening and Part 2 never had any sort of anime or OVA

Also David's Part 3 begins this April and Daisuke Ono is still Jotaro which is ****ing awesome

Oh my, I must've been oblivious not to realize that! Thanks for correcting me!
Knowing how Part 2 went, I know it'll be fantastic.
Spoiler!

I watched the first episode of Clannad today. I liked it, I'm definitely watching this series. Plus I'm curious as to what makes it as sad as people say it is and why it's so popular.

I watched some Clannad and some of the After Story spin-off.

I only watch Clannad when something bothers me because any other day will just make me depressed.

Alright, I have joined the finished-Gurren-Lagann-crew.

Yeah, it was a lot better than what KLK has been so far at least, not saying KLK is bad though.

Manly tears were shed in pretty much every later episode. This show, man.

Go watch it.

Since my last post, I've finished Clannad and Clannad After Story. It was a great experience though very sad at parts. I think it actually made me derpessed some of the days I was watching it... At least I have Metal music to set my head straight anytime

I also finished Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko, a new anime, it aired last April(or was it May?). It's not Hentai, it doesn't even have echi in it! I just had to make sure everyone understands that. It's mostly comedy though it does have some more serious episodes, especially towards the end. I'd like to see a second season.

Currently, I'm watching Full Metal Panic. I dropped it once in the past, after the 1st or 2nd episode and now that I decided to watch it again I actually wonder why I did that. It could have been the art style but I don't it now though.

Added after 5 minutes:

Very late reply, I know. Many people I know didn't like Death Note as much after L's death.
Not much of a spoiler, it's my impression of the ending which I don't say what it is.
Spoiler!

As for Code Geass, I'd definitely recommend it. It's a great anime in its own right and even though it may seem similar to Death Note, the protagonists have their differences. Also there's more action and there's no point where anyone can say "After this Code Geass is worse than it was before" like Death Note.

Thanks mike.

I'm probably going to finish it, I'm pretty far into it.

Due to the anime's I've been watching and the likes, I'm going finish Elfen Lied and Death Note, and I started Deadman Wonderland.

I'm almost done with Deadman, and it's great. A bit rushed, but it was 13 episodes.

Elfen is great, but for older people.

I've been watching Log Horizon, Strike the Blood, Nobunagun, Nobunaga the Fool, Witch Craft Works. Mahou Sensou, Kill la Kill and Nisekoi.

I know I dropped Golden Time even though I didn't mean to. Not sure if I'll get back into it.

I mostly watch those as a sore reminder that it isn't Oda Nobuna no Yabou S2.

Log Horizon, Kill la Kill, Wizard Barristers and The Pilot's Love Song(My favourite, so far, this year!).

Couldn't agree more about Nobunaga the Fool. Two episodes before giving up.

Gundam Build Fighters is something I'm also watching, but I don't really know why I'm doing that.

I finished both Full Metal Alchemist and Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. Now I'm going back to watch the newly released English dubbed episodes of One Piece. After than I'm going to watch Attack on Titan.

I finished the first season of Hidamari Sketch and moved to Season 2, Hidamari Sketch x 365. It's even better and more wonderful than the first season.

On top of that I've finally watched the whole first Hajime No Ippo series, and even New Challenger, which is around 100 episodes in total. All this in a few weeks, which is amazing considering that I'm rarely motivated to marathon something.

Almost done with SKET Dance and FLCL

Planning to watch Eureka Seven and Gunbuster in the near future, and also to catch up with Hajime No Ippo Rising whenever I feel like it.

I'm watching Sword Art Online, it was a nice surprise, I expected it to be mediocre because the story didn't seem that good to me. Turns out to be one of my favorites though! I'm at episode 16 atm. It shouldn't take more than a two, maybe three more days to finish it lol

I just finished "The daily lives of High School boys" which was unexpectedly funny and relaxing.

Now I am looking for a new anime but it's kinda hard as I've already watched around 55.

I was thinking of Black Lagoon but I am not sure...

But 55 isn't even close to something to worry about if you don't have super limited tastes.

If you want another comedy that has a lot of japanese humor, try out Hozuki no Reitetsu. It's basically like Gintama in hell, although it doesn't click with everyone.

How many episodes does this anime have?

And yes, my tastes are limited. I prefer action or/and comedy anime but there are many even among those that I dislike.

It's currently at episode 8, it will air every thursday (right before KLK) and subs usually come out 2-3 hours after airing. It will be one cour (12 episodes in total, I think)

I don't get offended by fanservice, the storytelling was extremely poor and the pacing was crap. Also the animation had way too many shining problems.

It wasn't two seasons, it was two cours. The upcoming season will be the second season that covers the third story arc of the manga.

Also, in case they skip fights, it's highly recommenable you start reading the manga, at least from Part 4 onwards. Part 4 is my personal favorite and a lot of JoJo fans call it their favorite arc too.

It's not just the price. They make such a huge collector's edition for not even a whole series. That's so silly.

Also, here's a pic of the thing.

Dude, the last few posts were about AoT.

I really want to hear Ymir. She's my favorite.

Sasha sounds as great as ever ^_^ (Favorite character)

Mikasa sounded a bit off to me, and I disliked Conny's voice the most of all the ones I heard.
All in all it sounds good though.

....

Yeah, but no one posted the info and stuff. Losers.

Anywho, here's today's batch.

Reiner ? Robert McCollum
Annie ? Lauren Landa
Armin ? Josh Grelle
Samuel ? Dave Trosko
Thomas ? Duncan Brannan
Tom ? Tyler Walker
Wald ? Barry Yandell
Woerman ? Christopher Sabat

Aaand the clip for today:

I dunno about Armin. His whole thing is that he's less manly/strong than everyone. His voice sounds kinda deep in the dub. How are people supposed to see he has an inferiority complex when he sounds so confident?

Should have sounded like Jimmy Neutron :/

His voice doesn't sound too deep though, I'd just say he doesn't sound as passive. But then again, in the context of the scene, he has no reason to.

This video should do the trick at giving you an idea.

(NSFW at some points.)

To do it real real quick, a young girl is looking for the one who killed her father. She gets into a school with a dominant school council and its fearsome leader to find the information she wants.

So if you're into over-the-top action with pretty funny moments on top of a damn good story, it's definately worth checking! I like crazy stuff, so that anime was definately for me, and it surpassed my expectations. Also, the people who worked on that anime also worked on Gurren Lagann, so that's one thing that made Kill la Kill popular.

The series just ended yesterday with its 24th episode. Hence my GG WP. Awesome ending, by the way!
An OVA is on its way for september, tho.

-----

Speaking of Gurren Lagann, that's my next anime to watch. I've only seen the first 3-4 episodes before I accidentally found out a major spoiler that made me hold off the series for many months, trying to forget about it, but Kill la Kill was enough to convince me to get back to it. I can't seem to erase that spoiler off my mind tho... ugh...

Getting TTGL spoiled to you is barely a reason to drop it, they still manage to pull off every remarkable scene so well you'll flip your milking stool.

Not sure if this helps, but Hiroyuki Imaishi also directed Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

As such, what you should expect is a lot of fanservice and an interesting take on style as substance

I know people get naked in this, I've seen the whole thing.

But I don't want to just explain it because it could be spoiler-ish.

It's actually entirely symbolic. They could just as easily wear something, anything that's not [redacted].

Baby Steps airing now~

Finally a tennis anime that isn't Prince of Tennis. :P

I meant to start reading the manga but never got around to it, it's fortuitous that I didn't because now I can enjoy this fresh.

Yay~

Black Bullet; Creepy badass in a top hat, but also has giant spiders.

I am torn over whether I should love this or run away from it.

Really? I just finished watching the first two parts (I stopped at episode 5, good thing I finished it) and the new opening is horrible compared to the first two. The opening by itself is decent, but it doesn't live up to the other openings.

Is Ghost in the Shell mainly a film or a series, when it comes to the adaptation from the manga?

All of them.

Start with the original film, which is based on the manga. Then watch everything else chronologically

Hi people, so, since the spring anime season has started I have a xouple questions to ask. What anime are you waatching this season if any? Also, are there any you are looking forward too that will be released later?

Personally, I'm watching Fairy Tail and Soul Eater NOT! and I'm looking forward to Sword Art Onine II, will be realesed in July, as well as the new entry to the Monogatari series, I've already watched Bakemonogatari and it was great, and I'm close to finishing Nisemonogatari.

Just started Hamatora

First episode had me laughing and the idea of their powers is a cool concept. Like they need a channel to activate the powers. Makes it seem more realistic than it just happening on point.

Finished up Gatchaman Crowds like 4am this morning. I'm so mad.

That has to be hands down one of the worst ending episodes I've seen for anime. Nothing was explained, bull**** was rushed, and there's way to many plot holes and unanswered questions. For an anime about super heroes, I expected better.

Gonna finish up Hamatora next. Hopefully it doesn't let me down.
What's next on the list to watch is:
Witch Craft Works
Captain Earth
World Conquest Zvezda Plot
No Game No Life

Premiering on Netflix this summer. Knights of Sidonia is a scifi series similar in tone to Attack on Titan.

Started watching Captain Earth today. Two episodes in and I already love the main character and his attitude.

This is what more anime needs: good story, quality art direction and a main character and plot that isn't stupid beyond belief.

Ugh Hamatora. Another good anime ruined by a complete ****ty ending. I would like someone who's watched it to argue that against me. I don't care if a second season is coming or not, you don't write endings like that for a season. ****ing up endings and bull**** cliffhangers seems to be a tradition for animes now

You know what doesn't have a crap ending?

Mushi-Shi

After several years, the Mushi-Shi anime is finally getting a sequel. Each episode is self-contained story that follows a man named Ginko. He travels Japan studying mysterious creatures known as Mushi which are the oldest, purest forms of life.

Its slower pace and quiet tone differentiates it from a lot of other mainstream anime. The first season is also available for cheap.

Does it have Takarada's theme? Not loadsamoney, but his real in-show theme. I might get it because of that alone.

Just finished the latest episode of No Game No Life (episode 6). This show has blown my mind out the damn water. Completely exceeded my expectations. The show is funny, colorful but has so much knowledge in it it's unbelievable. Also some of the best main characters I've seen in an anime. No regrets for picking up this show.

I'm one of the few who haven't dropped Soul Eater NOT. I liked the original show a lot, but I can still enjoy this spin off even though it's hardly anything like the original. I just watch it for what it is. Funny, relaxing and overall enjoyable. Though I get the feeling things are starting to get serious, now that I watched today's episode...
Does anyone watch it? Or if you've dropped it I'd like to hear the reason why

Kill la Kill is now on Netflix, in both US and Canada.

If you have Netflix and haven't seen Kill la Kill yet, then pls.

If you've watched any of Key's other anime (Clannad, Kanon) Beats is a bit lacking, both in drama and overall plot. The good thing is that it more than makes up for it in comedy, so if you're looking for a laugh you're in for a wild ride. (Make sure to watch the OVA as well; might be some of the most outrageous stuff I've ever seen in an anime.)

Watching anime on one of the high framerate TVs feels extremely weird.

It's not the framerate, but rather the technology that adds frames. I find it ugly and I usually disable it on TVs that do that.

I've watched anime on my 144hz monitor and nothing special happened.

I think you may have convinced me to watch it as well. I was looking for a comedy/slice of life anime to watch for a while. Somehow I started watching Mirai Nikki instead XD

Here are two new things.

http://www.killlakill.com/blu-ray_dvd/

The first four episodes of Kill la Kill on DVD and Blu-Ray, complete with English dubs as well. You can have a preview of that dub here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLhE2EhuoZ8

I'll wait for the complete series in a box set, tho. I'm doing the same thing for Attack on Titan (at least the full season 1 pls).

http://www.gurrenlagannthemovieusa.c...ay/bluray.html

Both Gurren Lagann movies on Blu-Ray. Sounds like a better deal to me than the whole series in that $500-something collector's box. No dubs in the discs tho.

I just got Akira on BD/DVD. I haven't even seen the movie tho, and I only know it's a classic anime movie and that it looks sci-fi.

OK, so it took me a while to finally catch up to Ping Pong and I'm loving it. The style is a little "different" and takes a little getting used to, but the characters and the story is excellent. Also the Opening is friggin' awesome from episode 3 onwards.

I really felt bad when

The second part of Attack of Titan on DVD/BD combo by FUNimation is already preorderable.

There's the standard edition here: http://shop.funimation.com/Shop/Shop...s?itemid=92280

The limited edition (with Lenticular, Artbook): http://shop.funimation.com/Shop/Shop...s?itemid=92281

The FUNimation Exclusive Collector's Edition (with 3 Wall Tapestries, Exclusive Pikutami Strap, Lenticular, Artbook): http://shop.funimation.com/Shop/Shop...s?itemid=92282

Ain't got no pic of the limited/collector's edition physical bonuses tho.

The release date is September 23rd 2014.

Now I can't wait to see both parts in one box set called "Season 1". That's what I'll get.

Aldnoah Zero is the show for this season.

Episode 3 was especially great.

This season, I'm watching Fairy Tail and Sword Art Online II. And I have stalled Great Teacher Onizuka, Mirai Nikki and Monogatari Series: Second Season. I just don't feel like watching much anime, possibly because I'm watching Community

Been trying to get into SAO II. First episode is tons of exposition with bits of Death Note-esque murder plot mixed in.

Not sure what direction this season will take...

GTO's manga is better than the anime. The anime leaves out half of the story and ends it with an anime-original mess that will only make you angry

Greatest show I picked up from this season is Barakamon

IMO Zankyou No Terror looks like its going to be the best show this season. it gives off a big Death Note vibe so if you enjoyed that I recommend you check it out.

That's on my to-watch list.

It's directed by Shinochiro Watanabe who did Cowboy Bebop~

The English title is "Terror in Resonance" and it's available on Hulu to watch for free.

Too low level weeaboo to watch subbed anime. But interested because Watanabe.

It probably will get dubbed eventually but so far it's very good.

You want the police to stop the terrorists but at the same time you can't help but feel sympathy for the attackers since they were abused by the government (the specifics have not been revealed yet).

So far I am pretty disappointed with 2 of my most anticipated anime this year.

I waited months for "Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei" anime and up to its current episode (eps 17), it's a major disappointment. Madhouse decided to cut many explanations, characters development, etc from the Light Novel. Instead of making one season with 2 arcs, they are planning to make 3 arcs into 26 episodes with 9 episodes left for the last part of the 2nd arc and the 3rd arc (One of the best arc from the Light Novel).

Another anime is "Tokyo Ghoul". I was reading the manga up to its latest chapter and the anime is good BUT they are mixing stories from early and chapter 30+ together. So you will see some characters that were supposed to be in chapter 30+ in episode 3, so basically they cut some characters development, story, etc. They even changed the main characters' personality and development.

Fortunately, there are a few good anime out there such as "Aldnoah Zero", "Bakaramon", "Kindaichi", "Baby Steps", "Glasslip" etc.

Oh. My. God. YES. SURE TOOK IT'S TIME.

Warning for anyone who hasn't read the manga yet: It's very vulgar and contains a large amount of nudity and sexual themes, despite all of it mostly being comedic border-ecchi.

Ao Haru Ride aka Blue Spring Ride.

I started reading the manga earlier this year then they just came out with the anime. So far its pretty good. Follows the manga very closely.

I'm really enjoying it. The story seems like it's about to start getting interesting with the new love triangle.

Ao Haru ride?

If so yes, it does get very interesting later on in the manga. The love triangle can really go either way as it is now.To the point where i keep checking for new chapters every few days.

You have to watch it with Japanese subs? I'm going to say you made a mistake when typing that or like doing redundant things.

Anyways favorite anime is Gurren Lagann and 100 to the post above mine.

I actually just decided to watch this since I realized Yasuda Rei did an ED song, and I happened to really like what watched. I haven't read into the light novel either, but most people seem to agree that it possesses even more world-building within it which sounds very amazing to me!

Really weird to not see more discussion on Zankyou no Terror here considering the forum's love of Cowboy Bebop and Space Dandy.

It's a good anime.

Been watching:
  • Barakamon (slice of life)
  • Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (sorta like SAO, but a lot better imo)
  • And of course Zankyou no Terror (thriller)
All of which sort got me back into anime.

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei EP 25

I guess I should expected character-cutting considering this is the second to last episode of the season. As much as I love Onii-sama, I would also appreciate the girls getting proper coverage - In particular Erika and Miyuki do not get proper attention. Miyuki, especially, was not given proper attention - Her magic should be animated to better show just how terrifyingly powerful she really is.

At the very least Masaki was done pretty alright, though it's hard to mess that up considering his specialty lol. Oh well one more episode

I'm really enjoying Zankyou no Terror as well.

The people on the forums are low level weebs.

I really enjoyed the latest episode of Free! Eternal Summer. It was interesting to see Haruka and Rin in a foreign country. It was weird to hear Rin speak English. haha

Yeah I caught up last night, and stuff doesn't quite get explained so some things don't make sense. Almost done though

The government conspiracy was there from the beginning tho.

Like, we knew that 9 and 12 had been wronged somehow by the government but it wasn't until now that we got the specifics of it.

Well, I watched the finales for both Zankyou no Terror and Free! Eternal Summer.

Talk about polar opposites. Free! ended on an incredibly uplifting note while Zankyou no Terror was about as depressing as it gets. Enjoyed both though.

I don't know your taste so I'm just going to recommend various stuff from what I've watched.
So, here they are: Sword Art Online, Code Geass, Toradora, Full Metal Panic and Bleach.

I've done a look through and I'll be watching:

Mushi-Shi Zoku Shou 2 (The last half of second season of Mushi-shi.)

Sanzoku no Musume Ronja (Studio Ghibli series about a girl who is the daughter of a bandit chief. Looks cute so why not?)

Kiseijuu (Based on the manga known as Parasyte in English. Not a fan of the art style change from the source material but I'll give it a try since I was a fan of the manga.)

Mahouka 26 END

Season 2 is as good as confirmed at this point. Overall the episode didn't really feel like a great ending to the season. At the very least, they did a good job illustrating the destruction of Material Burst. And they explained Regrowth in this episode as I had expected.

Overall, MadHouse could have done this adaptation better. There is way too much of an emphasis on Tatsuya - So much so, that people just don't see how characters like Miyuki and Erika are as good or important as they really are. This is greatly illustrated by the fact that only Tatsuya's abilities are explained meanwhile everyone else is simply shown and never explained. Oh well, I had fun with this and hopefully season 2 is a big improvement.

Terra Formars, the only anime this season I was looking forward to is censored up the ass and the prologue was rushed as hell.

What am I going to do with my life now.

Anybody recommend a reeaally long romance anime? Nothing overly graphic of course (kissing is fine, but no more!), but I want something that's longer than 12 or 24-ish episodes. And of course, happy ending = better. (in other words, if it ends like Clannad, I will find you, and I will kill you)

Think I'll watch this. Not a lot of shows I'm interested in this season, but eh.

Interestingly enough, this is also a MadHouse adaptation of something. I hope they don't mess this one up

Shirobako Ep 1

This was mildly interesting I guess. Miyamori seems like such an underdog character, and I do feel like I want to support her endeavors in the anime production industry. Already hate Tarou though lol

Shirobako Ep 2

Despite the first episode's sorta dark cliffhanger, this episode started out a lot differently haha. Anyway, we get to see the red-head (I forgot her name :I) and she seems to be in the same position as the other two - As in she's still trying to make a name for herself. Anyway, I really liked how this episode handled character design towards the end of the episode. It really put the whole subject of "moe anime" into a different light.

Shirobako Ep 4

This episode is a lot slower than the previous three, which makes sense considering this is Aoi's day off from work. Notice how different the atmosphere is when outside the office. Anyway, the beginning was probably the best part of the episode, and I felt this episode did a great job evoking sympathy in Zuka after her audition. Tough luck I guess. The end of the episode was very tense and I look forward to see what problem Aoi will probably have to fix now.

Image-related: In episode 2, there was a comment about how drinking was very moe. This scene was very moe haha.

Shirobako Ep 5

Wow, I really liked this episode and how it tried to illustrate a conflict between 2D and 3D animation in anime. This whole issue was actually foreshadowed in the previous episode when Mii claimed that 3D was the future despite Ema choosing to do a role opposite to her's in traditional animation.

Also Tarou is an asshole. "This is my battle" my ass!

It feels like I'm the only one who likes the wub wub in Parasyte. It managed to not ruin episode 5's ending to me at least. Solid adaptation although it moves a bit too fast. So much stuff skipped from the Mr. A fight.

I don't mind the pace so far. For some reason people really don't like Shinichi right now and would like him to grow more of a backbone. The train of suffering starts for him now so I hope they like it

They're just doing this for the sake of making his transformation better. I find it hard to believe that some people actually read the manga and complain about this crap. I mean, you see it right in the OP

Shirobako Ep 6

This was such a feel-good episode. Moe Endou is soooo good. I really enjoy the interactions between characters in this anime, and the bonding Idepon conversation between Endou and Shimoyanagi was definitely a favorite for me.

Just watched the whole first season of Sword Art Online.

As much as i liked it, i also hated it. I felt the first part of the story was a bit rushed and they could have filled the first season with just the first MMO. I mean they skipped months at a time, the main two characters basically went from knowing each other to marrying in a weeks time. It also felt that it left you with more questions than answers. Then the second MMO was basically saving Asuna. With barely any character development or description of the new world. Along with nobody knowing the now famous Kirito. I mean he saved thousands of people how do you not know who he is?

TLDR:
I feel this story would have been a lot better if would have been fleshed out better and not so rushed overall.

Animator Expo 3 - ME!ME!ME!

Decided to watch this since it's freely available and to see what all the commotion was about. It's gross. It's offensive. And it's plain weird. Still, loved the animation haha, and more so I loved the music. It has been a while since I last heard Teddyloid in anime (where the hell is P&S2!?). For anyone interested in watching, click here, but be aware this is a serious dose of NSFW.

Related:

"I feel that otaku have already become common to all countries. In Europe, in Korea, in Taiwan, in Hong Kong, in America, otaku really do not change. I think that this is amazing. I say critical things towards otaku, but I don’t reject them. I only say that we should take a step back and be self-conscious about these things. I think it’s perfectly fine so long as you act with an awareness of what you are doing, self-conscious and cognizant of the current situation. I’m just not sure it’s a good thing to reach the point where you cut yourself off from society. I don’t understand the greatness of society, either. So I have no intention of going so far as to call for people to give up otaku-like things and become more suited to society. Only, I think there are many other interesting things in the world, and we don’t have to reject them."

Not sure if he still feels the same way

It is indeed a lot of NSFW and just as you said, some parts are gross and offensive. I believe it was intended to be that way. Aside from that, I gotta say the animation is top notch!

Parasyte - The Maxim Eps 8 & 9

Welp, I hope this is the character change people wanted to see so badly because this is what we'll be seeing for a while. In any case, episode 8 did a pretty neat job with the fight this time around I think. Episode 9 brings back suspense with the new parasite attending school. I chose the screen above because well, that's the type of face you make when a horrible idea goes the way it should!

Shirobako Ep 8

Well this turned out somewhat fast and convenient. I knew from the start Iguchi would help Ema out of her strut, but not not so quickly and easily haha. There was a lot of suffering (again) in this episode too - Mostly in Aoi's sister. Actually, the whole telling of her suffering, I felt, was superbly done since almost nothing about her was said during the episode. I'm curious if this show will undergo some sort of time skip after Midori mentioned her being a writer of an anime at the bar. Again, good episode

Selector Spread WIXOSS Eps 1-7

Started watching this and I still have two more episodes to go until I'm caught up. This season's pretty awesome so far, and I'm really loving Ulith's character - She's so desparingly great. The soundtrack is also pretty great too - Something I feel would match with Parasyte better than its dubstep haha. Anyway, each episode tends to end with a cliffhanger and a huge question that makes you want to wait for the next episode quite impatiently, so I might hold off from episodes 8 and 9 until 10 is released later this week. Again, great season so far.

Wixoss is a surprisingly good show. I didn't expect much from it back when it debuted but it successfully hooked me. One of the better shows on right now, for sure.

So guys, how do we feel about this upcoming season? I'll probably watch DRRR2, Stardust Crusaders 2, and Tokyo Ghoul 2. Shirobako and Parasyte are a given.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun Eps 1-5

Went back a season to catch this series, and I kinda regret not watching it when it was airing. It's really good so far, and probably one of my favorites this year. I'm generally used to the whole oblivious male protagonists in shonen manga, but it's usually more irritating than it is funny. Here, despite the lack of any actual romance, the scenario really works well. Fortunately, that's not the only gag that run through the show too. My favorite episode was definitely episode 4.

The whole dating sim part of the episode was really well-done I thought. Kept me smiling throughout. Mikorin's interactions with Nozaki are generally my favorite, and I hope to see more of them. I'd also like to see more Seo - The Ep 6 preview showed some of her along with another recurring characters, so I'm excited for that.

Kinda amazed I didn't see this anime show up in the thread actually.

Parasyte - The Maxim 10 also came out today. I'll watch it later.

Parasyte - The Maxim Ep 10

Felt like a really fast episode. Went back to the manga to do some comparisons to make sure the changes I noticed were actually real. For the most part though, I suppose everything is completely faithful but it could be handled better. I really wished Mahouka was done more like this and showed more of the content in the LN. Oh well!

Lupin the IIIrd: Jigen Daisuke no Bouyou

Finally got to watch this since it got translated. This was a great movie, though it carried a slightly more serious tone than what I was expecting. The trailer after all was strongly suggesting someone would die. The animation and character design was great for a modern Lupin, and I'm pretty hyped for the series in Spring this upcoming year. Neat fact: the composer for this movie was the same fro Redline. Anyone who likes Lupin, should go watch this.

Animator Expo 06 - 20min Walk From Nishi-Ogikubo Station, 2 Bedrooms, Living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, 2mos Deposit, No Pets Allowed

Now this is a real nightmare. It's kinda cute and funny though, but more importantly it's very well-animated. Not a big surprise though, the key animation crew for this short was top tier!

Link here. It has nudity, but there's nothing really offensive here.

Guys go watch this! It's soooooooo good for an animated short with little words. The animation looks like it was sketched and it transitions so well, even the music. The part where the girl's ringtone transitioned into the current background music was nicely done and the upbeat of it matched what was happening.

Shirobako Ep 11

This was probably one of the weaker episodes in the series I felt. Most of it was just Miyamori struggling to find key animators to do key frames for the horse scene. And then there was that scene with all the censored anime icons which was really jarring for this show. The best part was towards the half point of the episode during the interviews. Didn't realize some people could be so nervous haha. In particular I liked the comments regarding Tarou that happened afterward

This was my favorite scene, and I do hope this girl becomes a recurring character in the second half of the series.

I just watched the last episode of Sword Art Online II. It was a good season in my opinion. Now, the wait till season 3 announcement starts!

IGN recommends 8 must watch anime that are not Cowboy Bebop, Trigun or Akira

  1. Death Note
  2. Code Geass
  3. Baccano
  4. RWBY
  5. School Days
  6. Samurai Champloo
  7. Kill la Kill
  8. Attack on Titan
RWBY and School Days are really odd choices.

So far, the Parasyte anime has been a pretty great adaptation.

Minor things:
-I miss the 1990s artstyle/setting of the manga.
-The music can be a little jarring at times. friggin dubstep

Everyone complains about the music. The choice in setting is to be expected since this is a modern adaptation.

There are some minor changes that kind of bothered me in the episode 10 I think, but I think it's a pretty faithful adaptation so far.

That IGN list... This is why I don't like to listen to mainstream outlets about anime, especially ones that aren't anime-oriented at all, since they always have the same garbage there. Also RWBY WHAT

Shirobako Ep 12

HOLY CRAP! It's a Christmas miracle that Anno- I mean Kanno made an appearance this episode! As per usual, the master saves Exodus! by suggesting that Aoi speak with Sugie to work on the horse cuts. His initial comment about changing the horses to fighter jets caught me off guard, so I was laughing kind of hard at that part

And then when it came to Sugie motivating everyone to work with him... It was soooo good. This is probably the best Christmas episode I've seen since maybe Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt.

Parasyte Ep 12

Merry Christmas HAHAHAHA

I still have a few more series to finish, but these ended up being my favorite anime this year:

Ping Pong The Animation
Probably THE BEST anime I've watched this year. The artstyle might take some getting used to. I watched the entire series on Youtube, since Funimation is kind enough to let us watch it there, and a lot of the comments there like to complain about the artstyle and how it turns them off to the show. If you do manage to get past that though, you'll be invited to some of the most engaging characters in anime. Some of the scenes are also accompanied by some of the most hype music ever.

Selector Infected WIXOSS / Selector Spread WIXOSS
This is a magical girl/cardgame/suffering anime. WIXOSS is the name of the cardgame, the characters play within the series, and Infected and Spread are the titles of the two seasons. The basic premise here is that certain girls obtain special living cards known as LRIGs. The LRIGs state that the girl can have their wish granted if they use their cards in Selector battles - After winning a set amount of battles, that wish is "granted." The quotations are obviously intentional since these wishes have a dark twist to them. Overall I'd say this is a really fun ride. I wouldn't recommend watching this for any sort of tactical cardgame playing, but rather for all the crazy events that just unfold as the series progresses.

Oni(i)-Sama
Better known, I suppose, as Mahouka Koukou no Rettosei. This, oddly enough, was the one anime that got me back into the scene. It's a light novel adaptation by MadHouse, so is sort of intended to be the next Sword Art Online I guess. Much like Sword Art Online, the story focuses on it absurdly broken main male protagonist, Tatsuya (aka Onii-sama), and his "ordeals" having to protect his sister from whatever he deems to be a threat to her happiness. A lot of people don't like the anime for (usually) one reason or the other: The anime has too much talking, explaining, infodumping or the anime has too little talking, explaining, and infodumping. People also hate the fact that Tatsuya is as powerful as it is, and therefore there's very little tension in the story. These are all valid complaints. I will say, however, that the light novel that this is based on, was very interesting to me for its odd use of science as a grounds for the magic the characters use.

Shirobako
A moe anime about working in the anime industry. If you read this thread, you've probably seen me post a lot about this one. The story mostly follows Aoi Miyamori, an anime production assistant, as she makes sure to get different parts of her anime company help her complete and deliver her assigned episodes by specific deadlines. Alongside her are her more experienced coworkers as well as her old anime club friends from high school, who provide different perspectives on different areas of the production process. The anime is usually praised for its surprising amount of realism and character interactions, which I personally can account for. Kind of like Ping Pong, most of the characters are very likeable.

I should mention that this anime is not completely finished (which is the reason Parasyte is not listed), but I made a special exception to Shirobako, since I feel that the first season could be viewed standalone.

Lupin III Daisuke Jigen's Gravestone
The only movie I watched. I wrote a short "review" on this earlier, but to elaborate, this is a somewhat more serious-toned Lupin III. It's a bit more gory than expected, and can be surprisingly dark. Still, it's a very classy take on Lupin that manages to really show off his abilities as a top tier thief. There's an anime series with this Lupin coming in Spring so get hype!

Barakamon
Probably the coziest anime of the year. Now some of ChatBox might remember that I'm not a kid person - This anime's main allure comes within the child characters. They're good characters though, and make this one very enjoyable to watch. The story here focuses on Handa, a city person, having to stay on an isolated rural island, and having to adapt to his new setting.

Nozaki-kun
A gag anime, mostly, about shoujo manga author Sakiko Yumeno, who is actually high school student Umetarou Nozaki. The gags normally revolve around misunderstanding, and so it works sort of predictably, but despite that, this still comes off as the funniest anime I watched this year. For those of you who have never read a shoujo manga or watched an adaptation, this anime does a fairly good deconstruction of common shoujo tropes, and rearranges them to make the characters of this show which I find to be one of the cooler aspects of the show. It's 12 episodes short and easy to binge watch.

Saw this posted just because I was curious about the voice. This particular comment killed me haha (sorry for the language)

I sort of agree

Yeah, dub watchers are going to need a real big excuse if they ever dub the whole show with those voices. That Chiyo is like the prime opposite of the cutesy short girl she's supposed to be

Yuna Yuki is a Hero (Yūki Yūna wa Yūsha de Aru)

Sick today so I watched all of this. It's only 12 episodes long. Definitely for fans of Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Has a much happier ending tho.

So, shows I've picked up so far this season. Parasyte and Nanatsu no Taizai are continuing from previous season

Assassination Classroom
I've read the manga up to the english scanlations released so far. Was pessimistic at first but first episode really blew my mind and I'm now waiting for the ED single, OP was bad.

Binan Koukou Chikyuu Boueibu Love
Pretty hilarious magical girl parody with magical boys. Really upbeat and obviously not supposed to be taken seriously. Damn with all these sexual references. Nice opening.

Stardust Crusaders second half
I've read all of JoJo up to current JoJolion chapters. New opening had a really kickass and exciting "finale" feel to it. New ending was good too. Episode was more of the same, David adapts stuff faithfully, animation was splendid, and the censors - they were there.

The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls

Not really liking this sort of producer, and the anime is still at the starting line. Music overall sounds pretty nice as it should

Yuri Kuma Arashi
Just what the **** is this

The Rolling Girls Ep 1

Yeah I have no idea what's going on in this anime, but it looks pretty cool, so I'll stick around to see what exactly this anime's about. It does have some very Kill La Kill vibes going on though which I find interesting.

Inari Konkon came out last year but I decided to watch it recently on whim.

I very much enjoyed it. It's a comedy/supernatural series about a young girl who gains the power to shape-shift after saving a fox spirit. It's only 10 episodes long so it's easy to get through.
