Default Wonder Traders Beware | Bad Eggs

Okay, I've seen several notes about this issues so I'll go ahead and post about it.

This is happening because of:

A) A glitch in wonder trade itself.

B) Dumbbutts are trying to send hacked pokemon through Wonder Trade and they end up appearing as "Mystery Egg" in your game.

These eggs are impossible to get rid of and will multiply and destroy the pokemon in your box.

So be careful when wonder trading.

So if you we get one, do we just immediately wonder trade it back?

No, they can't hatch.

They just screw everything up.

Can I give a big old thanks to the hackers of X and Y who can't even give the game a month's worth of rest.

It's cycling through the message boards Like on bulbagarden.

It might be a relatively rare occurrence but I went ahead and made a thread about it because bad eggs have appeared in past games and people need to be aware that these will screw up the game.

Still skeptical of the claims, but I'll beware of wondertrade anyway just in case.

I don't think there is any solid proof that this was an effect of hacking. The Pokemon community possesses some rather vocal anti-hacker members, so I'm honestly more inclined to believe that this was a random occurrence than the work of a failed hacking attempt.

This is reflected by other threads used by anti-hackers on other forums using this event as ammunition to "debate" against the opposition.

Yup. My initial thought was that this was just false ammo for anti-hackers in response to the recent leaks.

Any kind of data corruption will produce these "mystery eggs" and I do remember that hacking caused these eggs to appear in past games.

I'll still be using wonder trade as I think the likelihood of actually getting a bad egg is pretty low.

So what exactly would you do if you received one of these eggs? If they're impossible to get rid of, that would mean you're pretty much screwed if you receive one, right? That just... I can't even think of a good adjective to describe it.

That's about right, once you get one you're stuck with it. In previous generations when we had hacking tools, once we hacked the bad egg into the game we could destroy it by hacking, but it's long term effects may still exist.

If this becomes a serious problem, maybe nintendo will allow us to send these eggs to them on Pokebank (or some other service they offer) so that they may be removed (although any prolonging effects would most likely still exist)

GameFreak really should just allow us to ditch eggs.

...Or feed them to my more carnivorous Pokemon to max their EVs.
