From the way you've described what you think of the Wii U, it sounds like you've already somewhat talked yourself out of wanting a one.
I'd say if you really wanna play Nintendo's first party games, then get a Wii U... unless the graphics and the Gamepad put you off enough to not be able to enjoy what the Wii U has to offer. Are you able to afford/or eventually save up for both a Wii U and a PS4 or Xbox One? Why not do that?

No, the Wii U Pro Controller doesn't work with every game, but I assure you the gamepad isn't ****ing stupid, at least NOT for Zelda games. |

I think this thread addresses a question that Nintendo really needs to answer for its fans, the casual community and the dedicated community.
For me, simply the fact that the system has exclusive Nintendo games warrants the purchase. It's Nintendo in HD. Yum. And it's early days in terms of what the system is really capable of, since it takes years of tinkering to get the most out of a system. The fact that Wii U devs are already able to make the games look as good as (or slightly surpass?) late PS3/360 games should say something. But it'll have nothing on PS4/One down the line. I really think you should keep an open mind about the GamePad. For one, you'll probably find it a lot more comfortable then you'd expect. It's kind of built for your hands to meld into its ergonomic design. The second screen functionality may seem unnecessary, kind of like a big DS, but it's so much more. It's subtle, but having menus, inventories, maps etc off of the screen and at your fingertips with the GamePad really makes games feel more fluent and immersive, especially with games like Zelda. The Wii U allows for much bigger games than the DS/3DS, so the advantages of not having to pause all the time and fumble around before getting back into the game are made much clearer. But dude, you can forget third party support with this thing. It's been able to get a few of the games that the Wii missed out on, but after studios are done with PS3 and 360 and move on to their successors, devs won't bother with the effort it takes to port over to the Wii U. At least, that's what I expect. If you're really aching to play the games you listed as soon as you can (and you have the money) then I say get the Wii U as soon as they start coming out. If not, wait. I'd say definitely don't write the system off. Nintendo isn't concerned with matching up to Sony and Microsoft, they prefer to do things differently, which usually means a great deal of compromise when buying from them.

I think I'd wait for Zelda U.
The gamepad just looks ugly and badly designed to me. But I guess I should keep an open mind. It might be as great as the Apple Pipin controller was! Isn't the Wii U 32GB? The PS4 is 500GB, so I guess I'd be a fool to pass that up. |

Anyways, at the end of the line Nintendo won't let the fans down. We already know of some pretty good games that are coming up foor the WiiU and in my opinion, even some of the games that are already out (like Pikmin3) justify the purchase. Gamecube sold badly but some of the best and most inovative Nintendo titles were developed for it. The WiiU won't sink and Nintendo won't abandon it as many people tend to believe. Thealready announced games are only a part of what Nintendo has in mind for the system, there will be even more good games in the future. Miyamoto has already said that he is developing a brand new title for the WiiU, a new exclusive franchise and the studio that is currently working on DK Tropical Freeze has said that they will give high priority to a new Metroid title after they have finished with DK. And no more of that crap: "PS3 games look better than WiiU games". No they don't! You can't compare The Last of Us with Pikmin3! Keep in mind that the best looking PS3 games were made 7 years after the console's launch. Wait for the heavy 1st party titles of Nintendo and then judge. I am sure that games such as X and Zelda U will blow our minds. All in all, the WiiU won't have a big 3rd party support but the 1st party titles will be awesome as always. It comes down to what you wanna play... So yeah, I hope that helped justify your purchase. If I were you I would still wait for Mario Kart 8 though so that there are even more games out when you buy it.

I can tell (like the others) that you don't want it, but here's some things I thought I'd like to add.
First of all, I think you should consider adding WWHD and Nintendo Land to the list. Nintendo Land
Spoiler!
Wind Waker HD
Spoiler!
Pad
Spoiler!
Btw, the Pro controller is really good in terms of controller. Better then Xbox or PS4/3/2/1 controllers in someways.

Good to see you made your mind up. Do you think you'll feel a little jealous when we're bathing in glorious Ninty gold? I'd say the best way to go is a PS4, and then a Wii U. Unless you really care about Halo or GoW, but I'd say get the Wii U first after PS4. That's just my bias opinion though, I only have the money and time for Nintendo and I don't care for violent games. So there's like zero Xbox exclusives I care about.

1) I don't care for HD visuals. The original still looks great.
2) I like sailing the seas at the original speeds. 3) I don't care for Tingle bottles. Ninty gold? The only Nintendo series I really like is Zelda. I play Mario when friends are around or when I'm bored. The PS4 has Killzone, Knack, Flower, Resogun, and will have Rachet and Clank, God of War, GTA, Fallout, Elder Scrolls. It will have a good number of series that the Wii U can only dream of. I'd buy a PS4 just for Elder Scrolls, but I wouldn't buy a Wii U for all the games released so far. |

It's pretty clear you're in favor of the PS4 over the Wii U. Have you happen to test the GamePad at a retail store by any chance? If not, do that before passing it off as something "stupid".
As someone who prefers to buy an PS4, the Wii U's line-up for next year is pretty darn attractive. |

Now it's WiiU time. Super Mario 3D World is here to stay! And don't make me laugh! Nintendo systems always have the best series... The others just have more 3rd party support.

Flower is a port and Knack is a platformer that Nintendo wouldn't dream of making. You seem biased towards Sony, so this whole discussion is ridiculous. Quote:
