Default Question about downloaded games

Hi, I am new to the forum and had a question around downloaded games. I have an old DS Lite and am about to buy a used 3DS XL off someone who doesn't seem to know much about the system.

He got a download code to download Zelda A Link Between Worlds and downloaded the game to the SD Card the system came with. I am curious if I buy the system off him, will I need to use whatever account is set up on the system to play the game? I'd like to set up my own account, but still be able to play Zelda which is already on the SD card. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for any help!

Yes, you would have to use his account in order to keep the game. If he hard resets the system or transfers all the stuff before giving it to you, you won't be able to play the game.

I'm guessing you are buying the Zelda bundle.
It depends if the previous owner has a Nintendo ID on the e-Shop, if he does, and you delete the Nintendo ID, you loose the game forever.
If you reset it to factory settings, you can re-download the game off the e-Shop for free again.

Hi... yes it's the Zelda bundle. So what you are saying is that as long as he's included the download card, I can reset the 3DS to factory settings, create my Nintendo ID, and then I can re-download the game. Would I need to wipe the SD card as well?

Thanks for the reply by the way. Appreciated.

It depends if he has a Nintendo ID or not.
If he has not got one, you can reset it to factory, download the game from the e-shop again and set up your own ID.
If he has got a Nintendo ID, you cannot reset it because I think it logs out and you probably don't know the password.
You can contact the seller and ask.
