have eshop accounts on both 3ds and wii u
both have the same nnid registered
add money on one, get added onto the other too, but spend on one means you lose money on the other

I'd love it if the Digital Deluxe Promotion now worked with the 3DS, too.

have you done the system update?
if you do that then try and access eshop it should prompt you to make an NNID (or if you have one already to register that one)

Oh, I just posted a question about this.
Registering both the WiiU and the 3DS will automaticaly(?) share the balance.
I still have to register my devices, I'm trying to figure out what the consequences are by doing so. Information is scarce however.

1.You will not be able to unlink your account without formatting the system first.

2.You will not be able to change your 3DS' region, since it will be connected to your account's region from that moment onwards. This can affect you if you buy your games from a different country's eShop, like I do.

3. After formatting the system because you wanted to unlink your account, you will not be able to get your digital games back until you re-link to the original account, suggesting/implying that the games are tied to the account itself.

4. Both systems will share the same Mii, so if the 3DS has a different Mii from the Wii U's, you'd have to choose which Mii to keep and which one to erase. You can edit the 3DS Mii after merging them, however.

Those are the only ones I've found so far.

Oh, and don't forget:
You can't change your name after you completed your NNID registration.

I'm ususally carefull when choosing names. But I've read people using, uhm, less suitable names and having to make a new NNID.
And that's the last thing you want to do when you've got money and purchases tied to your account.

remember, NNID can never be change unless a format is done.
