Default What are some odd things that you do normally?

I was sorta listening in on a two people's conversation today (yeah, i'm a snoop, smoke everyday) and they were talking about how the lady's husband loves chewing ice. Dude just bites into ice like it's popcorn. Now, I can't do that because it makes me wince, but I found it interesting how it was such a normal thing for the dude. So that got me thinking about how we sometimes do things normally that other people find odd. So, 3DSF, what are some things you do that other people might find weird? I'll go first, of course. One odd thing I do that people find odd is swallowing pills without any water. I just sorta down them naturally. People tell me all the time that it's super weird, but I never noticed.

That ice thing is considered odd? I do that with my soft drinks when there's nothing left to drink.

I guess my odd habit is cracking my ankle. I even stop sometimes in the middle of a street to just crack them.

The imagery of it with Fenniken's photo put a smile on my face.

My strange habit would be cracking unnecessary jokes in serious times when friends are angry. Their yelling at me makes me giggle. I'm not a bully.

My strange habit is putting Ketchup on my pizza before I eat it all alone.

I take a long time (around 20-25 mins) to make myself a sub sandwich. I just like to neatly as possible slice/dice up all the salad veggies, then neatly place them in a particular order on the sub roll + some sliced meat and cheese I cut to fit the exact shape of the sub. Then I use a ruler to measure where the exact middle is to cut the sandwich in half.

I don't really find it odd to want a nice sandwich, but I've been told by people it is and how it should only take less than 5 minutes to make one.

I eat potato chips using a spoon. This allows me to game without having my controller or keyboard+mouse drenched in sweaty grease.

I like plain toast. Nothing on it. Just plain toast.

I never even knew that was weird until my friend had a spazz.

I will not listen to the radio or watch TV if the volume isn't on an even number.

I can actually relate to this haha. Same thing goes for my Play Coin number and card balances actually. Everything has to be an even number, preferentially ending with a zero.

also, i can't go out before i check if the door is locked like 17 times. [just random number each time].

Is it also odd that I never directly handle any of my foods with my hands? As in I don't touch my food with my hands. Like I always have a fork and knife for stuff like fried chicken or even sandwiches that aren't wrapped.

That's not extremely weird unless that applies to snack foods too. I get not wanting to touch greasy fried chicken, but I can't imagine cutting up a pretzel and eating it with a fork.

Big dough pretzels I usually purchase generally have some sort of wrapping so I don't actually touch it.

Things like popcorn I usually put in another container and drain it down into my mouth to prevent my fingers from getting buttery. There are obvious exceptions to this habit though, like M&Ms and Skittles (though not the sour variety).

I have a professor who often gets up from his desk with his mug of water and walks to the PowerPoint screen to talk for a few minutes then walks back to his desk to put the mug down. Then he repeats the whole action again, and I swear he never drinks the water.

Okay I told you about how I like chewing ice, but here's something from a friend.

She's a digital 2D artist. However, she can't seem to draw if an interesting video isn't playing at the same time, on the same screen or on another one.

I like to stretch my legs to the point where my feet are touching the feet that belong to the person in front of me. I don't have anything against them, I just... Need an abnormal amount of legroom.

Trustedflipper you just made my day. ^_^

I had to think about my oddities, andnai can think of one in particular.
When in company of other people I like to relax and listen to their conversations. Look at the way they move, little habits, things they say, how they react and respond to eachother.
I find that interesting and often amusing, resulting in me laughing or smiling without obious reason. Sometimes people get all weir about it.

It's not too odd. I do that too - It's people watching

Though I don't exactly listen in on people's conversations. Instead I generally imagine what they might be thinking or saying based on their actions

Oh, lockpicking. I do that to.
It's often considered odd or wrong because it's associated with crime, but it's actually very usefull knowledge when you are trying to protect your own property.
I once watched a 4 hour seminar video on lockpicking.
Plus it' s fun to go to a hardware store, ask for a lock and bust it in fron of the shopowners eyes. ^_^

I've got another one I noticed today, when I stick forms on pages at work (like stickers) I need the sticket to alighn with the lines on the page. If I don't it bothers me for the rest of the session.

Another: whenever I fold a piece of paper it has to be done in three. Whether it's a A4 sheet of paper or the receit I get at a store. Always in threes, always perfectly straight.

Sometimes I repeatedly turn on the windshield wipers manually because there isn't a good automatic setting between super fast and moderate.

You stole mine.

I don't really like to touch food directly. Earlier I was eating fries with a fork. Part of it might be me using tech alot, also wanting to have clean hands, but another is just unexplainable.

I unplug unplug my Xbox and computer whenever I'm not using them, same goes for my 3ds and phone chargers when I leave in the morning, I'm not really even an environmentally conscious guy, it's just something that happens.

Dunno if this is considered odd. I always turn my monitor off whenever someone comes near me when I'm on the computer. Not that I'm looking at anything bad/inappropriate, it's just force of habit I've always done for some reason.

lol my grandparents do that for literally almost every electrical object/appliance. They like saving on energy, plus they worry so much about power surges, electrical fires and stuff like that. I've always found the amount of things they worry about a bit odd.

When I'm on the computer or staring at a blank canvas getting ready to do art, I NEED exactly 4 color pencils or objects similar in size/diameter to twiddle around with my hands. For some reason I can't focus on anything nor be fully productive without them.

Wow, so I'm not the only one. I only ever directly hold food and eat if I'm at home and I just washed my hands. I wouldnt alaays say I use a fork for all thinga though, but I always hold stuff with like napkins or paper towels.

Also....in any game I play that isnt auto save, I always save at least a few times before turning the game off.

I talk to myself a lot over random things and sometimes I keep repeating things I say quietly or in my head. I read that it's a sign of OCD. x.X If you've seen the movie Aviator, that, but to a smaller scale.

I clean my shoes/sandals A LOT. Whenever I see a tiny or a decent amount of dirt on the outside of my shoes/sandals I clean them and it's pretty much a daily routine for me cause I hate wearing dirty shoes/sandals.

I've been practicing imitating fighting techniques and poses that I see in video games and TV since childhood. Most of the movement is basic, but I can't do any flips or high jumps (curse you, laws of physics) since I only do this at home. It's just too much fun to give up, and it's great exercise. Every time I play a new video game, I pay close attention to how the character moves.

This isn't exactly something I normally do but I keep seeing license plates with the letters "BFX" on them. I'm not sure if it's just me selectively noticing those plates but I see that combination at least five or six times a day on cars I've never seen before. Also cars from different states seem to have letter combinations unique to that state. Maybe that's a real thing I don't know about. Does anyone else notice weird trends like that?

Sometimes when I'm watching cartoons by myself, I try to mimic the facial expressions of characters in the show.

Edit:

Ow and I really can't stand it when music is paused casually or abruptly (music I like, of course..).
I NEED to hear it from start to finish.

I actually sit like this all the time:

While I game. While I watch TV. While I work on photography projects. While I eat. While I type on my laptop. While I do toy design. While I read. It's just something I've always done naturally. I never really realized that it was strange until my husband pointed out the posture. Then I started to pay more attention to it myself. I still do it subconsciously though.

Strange as it might seem, I felt somewhat relieved when I saw L sitting like this the first time I watched Death Note. Kindred sitting spirits, I guess... It actually does help me think, and it keeps me focused on the project at hand. So I think L might be onto something.

When I'm nervous I make a smug face and pretend I'm chewing gum with my mouth open. I feel like it makes me look cocky/confident/like an asshole, so people don't think I'm nervous.

By any chance, did you mimic your avatar?

I can’t walk on carpet without socks. It feels filthy to me and then I have to wash my feet. But I have no problem walking around outside barefoot which makes no sense at all, but in my mind somehow it does.

Sometimes in the shower I’ll get a new bar of soap and rub it on the one I’m currently using because it feels like it needs to be re-cleansed .///////.

I only set my volume levels to odd numbers. Even numbers are unlucky.

If I’m wearing knee or thigh-high socks, I like wearing fishnet underneath them. Not for looks, but somehow it feels really comfortable to me and it also makes them easier to peel off at the end of the day.

Whenever in public or a densely populated area, I always hope to see someone wearing dinosaur pantsu ~ It makes my whole day x3

When I give a gift, I have to see/hear a reaction of some sorts. Like I go crazy if I don’t. I like knowing that receiving the gift made them happy. But at the same time, I get super embarrassed being present when they receive or open it. So it’s this really awkward situation lol. At Christmas time, I'm always like hiding behind the breakfast bar watching people open gifts and nervously pacing lol
