A port of an N64 game or an actual 3DS game...

It's clear to me that Link Between Worlds is the better 3DS game.

If you've never played OoT, then it doesn't matter if it's a port or not.

Ocarina of Time is the better game by far. 40 hours of content vs 15 hours of content. OoT 3D is a lazy port but there's no question that as a game it wipes the floor with LBW.

Both are great games though, but only OoT is the one I'll make my grandkids play.

As someone who didn't play OOT before it came to 3ds, and extremely overhyped LBW, I prefer OOT.

OoT3D was a great game, but it is not my favourite 3D Zelda. A Link Between Worlds is my favourite 2D Zelda though...

But I would definitely recommend both; I can see no clear winner.

I really enjoyed playing OoT for the first time and despite what many people say, I find that it's aged incredibly well.

Even so, I think that Nintendo really delivered in making a true sequel to ALttP with A Link Between Worlds. The world was big and open, but never lacking in content unlike some of the more recent console entries. The dungeons, although easy, were fun, memorable, and had some truly clever puzzles. And finally, the soundtrack is pure ear candy for newcomers and especially those who've played ALttP - the nostalgia hits so hard at times it makes you want to cry.

You can't go wrong with either Zelda, but ALBW remains my favourite 3DS title for being the most definitive Zelda experience in a long, long time.

A link between worlds is a great game, I wasn't really that hyped for it so the fact that the flow was good, the music was awesome and the combat addictive was a great surprise. However, (might be because of a bit of nostalgia) oot is a masterpiece, the style, themes, lore are (for me) the best in the series, at the time it was the best game ever made, (maybe not now) and no 3d zelda game has caught gamers imagination like oot did.

I would say oot is the better game, but lbw is awesome too.

The Ocarina 3D suffers from horrible ghosting, isnt a true 3DS game, while Link between Worlds was made for 3DS, has better 3D (IMO) and was more worth the price (also my opinion)

I picked LBW

I've been a Zelda fan for as long as I can remember. Favourite Zelda was Wind Waker on the GameCube, earliest was probably Link's Awakening on that lime green screened Gameboy.

That being said, I have never came across a Zelda game I didn't like, let alone, a mediocre one.

As much as it pains me, I found ALBW to be mediocre. It didn't feel like Zelda to me. The temples lacked creativity and a few hours into it, the fast exciting story turned into a bunch of turning into a painting, then a person, and so on. Of course, that is what the game is about, but it relied to heavily on it to the point where a cool trick became boring and tedious.

Ocarina is possibly one of the most overrated games of the century, but, that doesn't mean it's bad. A lazy remake/port by no means. OOT3D made the original look like cow crap.

OoT3D > ALBW.

A Link Between Worlds is one of the best games on the 3DS, but Ocarina of Time 3D is a remake of one of the best games Nintendo has ever made.

They're both great for different reasons though. I enjoy the faster pace of ALBW, how the adventure is more streamlined, there's less filler. It's designed so that it can be fun quickly, as opposed to taking 15 minutes to get to a point where the adventure gets good. But I prefer the epic scope of OoT, and the music... the MUSIC...

So I pick OoT3D. It's not an all-new game, but if you've never played it, it's the definitive version of a game you must play anyway. You don't wanna be the guy who's never at least tried OoT.

A Link Between Worlds is a good game, but it just can't come close to Ocarina of Time.

I know they're part of the same series but they're such different types of games I can't really compare them.

I never played any of the Zelda games before, and my first Nintendo ever was the Zelda 3DS XL gold special edition. I cant say that the game is bad, but its far from superior to me. Maybe it's just not the game for me and maybe i expected something else...I dont know. However I enjoyed it, but didnt finished it yet, maybe one day....
After this first experience with a Zelda game ( ALBW ) .... Ocarina of time ? Yes, I would give it a try but only if i can find it for very very cheap.

OoT 3D was a really good remake of an already perfect game. Everything was right with that game. (except for the fact that OoT is a really long game and it's not meant to be played on the go)

LbtW was good but it cannot compete, especially in my eyes as I always preferred 3D Zelda games from the ones with the top-down perspective.

For me, there is no contest. I definitely enjoyed Ocarina of Time a considerable amount more than A Link Between Worlds. I find it more charming, running through the maps is a lot more fun, and I just found the world to be overall more beautiful. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy ALBW, it's an awesome game, but its biggest downfall is definitely that it's too short.

Yeah, like others here have said, it's kinda hard to compare them and decide which one I like more because one is 3D and the other is top-down style.

A Link Between Worlds is definitely my favorite top-down Zelda. Ocarina of Time 3D isn't my favorite 3D Zelda, but there are a lot of things about it I like more than A Link Between Worlds.

Anyways, they're too different and both good in their own way, I can't choose one over the other.

I've never understood why people say Ocarina of Time 3D is lazy. It's a remake, yeah, but it looks way better than the original and is probably one of the best looking games on the 3DS.

I don't get why people put OOT on such a high pedestal. Hyrule field is so empty and boring, with almost nothing to do. The puzzles are very basic and outdated(most of the time it's about moving boxes). My problem is not that it's simple, but that it doesn't feel smart to me in its design. ALBW is also very simple game, but it seemed like the developers planned the dungeons really smart. The only things that's better in OOT to me was the story and the way it's told and the side quests(although they aren't anything special). When it comes to the core gameplay though, I had way more fun. As I played through the dungeons of ALBW I constantly got this sweet feeling of fulfillment. The 'painting' mechanics are really well implemented and they didn't feel like a gimmick. I understand that OOT was a revolutionary game when it came out(it's still a nice game, especially for a handheld), but it seems REALLY outdated to me now. Also as big as the graphic update from the N64 version was, I really think that nintendo could have done way better job at it(some of the stuff like the stairs, the fences and Hyrule field look sooooooooo N64) especially when we have games like Resident Evil:Revelations and Metal Gear Solid 3D that prove that the 3ds is much more capable than what we got in OOT - yes, I know that graphics aren't everything(ALBW isn't THAT good looking either), but you can't deny that they are a nice bonus and are a part of the whole experience).

btw I didn't play any of the Zelda games in my childhood, so I don't have 'nostalgia blinders' for any of those games(I know ALBW is a new game, but it has many A link to the past stuff).

It is really basic, swimming just takes a long time(as other annoying things in the game as well, that's why it's more lenghty than the 2d Zeldas). In ALBW for example there was nothing excessive - everything had its place in the world and wasn't just there to waste your time(for the most part). I was encouraged to explore (I'm not sure why though, but I think that it's because I didn't have to walk for like 1000+ hours from point A to point B) and that doesn't happen with me too often while playing a game, usually I keep it safe and go where the game tells me to go. The only reason why I did most of the side quests in OOT for example was that I was bored of finishing the main story line of the game over and over again.
