I just purchased a new 3DS XL (Blue-Black) and noticed when I snap the top screen into the second viewing postion it will wooble back and fourth some when I move the 3DS while playing. The top screen stays in place once it clicks and has never fell back down but it does have the wooble. I noticed when snaped into the first viewing position it also wobbles but in the third viewing postion it wobbles less. I've read alot of posts on other forums from 3DS XL owners saying theirs do the same thing and that its normal and its like that cause that prevents the hinge from snapping. Any other 3DS XL owners have this issue also?

Something may be loose. I suggest taking it to Gamestop if you have one or mail it to the Big N directly.

The other users you've heard from are correct, it's not a defect, all 3DSes do that by design.

All xl's do that, that simple, like you said it prevents the hinge breaking. Now if yours starts getting really loose to the point where it becomes a problem, then get it checked.

when i first got my original 3DS i had the same problem but then i found out that its just normal man, Nintendo did that so if you drop it, you have more of a shock resistance i guess? but yea its all good bro.
enjoy you're gaming...

Yeah, that happens with my 3DS as well, and it usually gets worse with lots of use.

The top screen is made to wobble as thats how Nintendo makes them. The DS Lite had a known issue with the hinge either cracking or snapping off altogether due to not having enough give in it. So Nintendo not wanting to repeat the issues of the DS Lite let the 3DS hinge wobble just a bit so it would have a little give when being opened & closed.
