Default Two 3DS systems streetpass question

I have two 3DS systems, one is my own and the other is my roommates, but I carry it with me everywhere cause he doesn't like to use it. When I go out in public, why is it that most of the time, my roommates 3DS gets more tags than mine?

Most times it'll be that the Blue 3DS (roommates), gets about 2-4 tags, including my 3DS. But mine will only get one, MAYBE two.

Is there any way how to fix this?

It's probably that more people with 3DSs are around the room with your roommate's 3DS in it. Try leaving both in the room for a day and see if they get the same amount of streetpasses. As it sounds like they're just at different spots at different times.

They are always in the same room! The only time that they're apart is when I put them in my pockets, I put one in the left and one in the right, or I just stack them on top of each other if I'm not using it

Open it and look if everything is in the right place. If so try to unplug one thing you think it might be damaged and start the 3DS. I can imagine the Wifi-Device or the SD-Slot are damaged. Maybe the 3DS starts after that without an error-message.

or his room-mates 3ds picks up streetpasses before his, then the other 3dses nearby get out of range before his can pick them up
streetpass only works on 1 3ds at a time

Yea sometimes that happens with me and my fiancee too...Like we went to the mall the other day and we're next to each other 95% of the time with our 3DSs in our pockets and I got 1 and she got like 5...I always wonder why that happens. But sometimes I get more than her, so it's not one specific system....I don't get it

I wondered this too, but I think I know the problem. I have a Japanese and American 3DS, since living between two countries sucks when there is region-locking. *sigh* But I digress.

I think the 3DSs only have a certain range and time to sync with each other. For example; If you are carrying two 3DSs and walk by someone who is carrying a 3DS, more-than-likely, there is only enough time for one of your 3DSs to Streetpass the other before they are too far to connect, leaving the other 3DS with no Streetpass.

Another thing is possible the light rhythm. Notice the Streetpass light on the side of the 3DS. It blinks in rhythm, but when another 3DS comes within close proximity, it changes its rhythm to try and match the other 3DS. This is usually when they Streetpass, as they sync to the same rhythm. Like the first reason, if two 3DSs are trying to sync, it's harder for a 3rd one to join that rhythm party. Basically, one of the 3DSs you are carrying is able to sync more quickly with the other 3DSs out there, while your other 3DS is being left in the dust.

These are only theories, but I'm sure there is a lot of truth to them. Traveling with my two 3DSs, I've often wondered why one of them got more hits than the other, or just more often than the other. Once I started looking at things and paying more attention, certain things began to click. I recommend watching the lights and seeing them sync. It's fun!

Well, I guess it isn't a huge issue, it's just really upsetting when my roommate's 3DS gets a tag with a lot of pieces I need on Puzzle Swap and I can only get one especially those pesky Streetpass only ones!

Yea that's the issue me and my fiancee have, only being able to get 1 piece. But we just got the final piece yesterday : ) (until the mario golf, and kirby ones arrive, cause I'm betting they will)
