3ds xl screen madness

Hi, I thought I would post this here as I have found nothing like this on google.

I placed a 4gb card in my 3dsxl, I found the card in the street, it was clean and dry and I thought it would come in handy as a spare, I was hoping to format it. However on putting it in the 3ds, the 3ds switched off and when it came back on it looked like this!

has anyone seen this before? The touch screen works fine,it does look a little washed out though and has faint lines running through it vertically, the top screen is mirrored. tinted red and has vertical lines running through it. It appears to work as normal, other than the controls being messed up by the reversed screen.

I have phoned Nintendo and they are sending willing to look at it, any ideas on how they would charge for both screens being replaced and am I better of looking at a 3rd party repair centre or just selling it spares or repair? I am in the UK.

it won't let me add a picture until I make 3 posts!

it worked fine, I had no problems with it at all! The real kick in the teeth is Animal Crossing New Leaf arrived today for my daughter!

Added after 2 minutes:

Sorry, I didn't get to format the card as the ds just turned it's self of, which it does if i try and use the card again. I have since binned the sd card as i am not willing to risk another device or my pc.

have you tried formatting the system itself and then using your original SD card? i dont know if you have any games downloaded or streetpassed anybody yet
if you dont have an SD card then im sure someone here could help you with what type to get and where, i would but i havent bought a new sd card for my own 3ds yet (im still running on the original 2gb card)

Yeah, I formatted the system and my original memory card, still backwards and red!

Added after 36 minutes:

I think it might be cheaper to sell it for spares of repairs and by a new one. Seems to be very expensive to get it repaired.

not sure what happened but it looks kinda fun XD
I would call up nin support and see what they say. I owuldn't mention, however, that you put in a SD card that you found. just say you turned on the 3DS and it happened.

Well that's weird. I'd recommend just bringing it to Nintendo unless you have a warranty from somewhere. I've never seen anything like that, nor am i convinced replacing the screens would fix it.

yeah i wouldn't suggest using any memory cards you find on the ground either if you find any more, cause you don't know what files are already on there

I'll send it to Nintendo and see what they say. They have already sent out a prepaid bag for me.

That is weird...I would never put anything you find on the street in your 3DS though, even if it looks good on the outside who knows what's in it. I don't think fixing the screens would do it, something in the system now.

I'm sending mine in today for screen repairs. When they tell you the price just tell them you can't afford that and they should lower it. They went form $145 to $120 to $45 for me because of that.

What are the odds of finding an sd card with a virus that can effect a 3ds?

one in a kajillion.

If anything, the SD card would have to be physically damaged in a way that cause the 3DS to short

Hmm maybe that SD card had a virus, oh and you should've reformated the SD card to FAT32 before you put it

If I read your post correctly, you didn't even turn off your 3DS to switch out the SD card? I can't imagine THAT was good for your system.

I formatted system memory, took the battery out for a full day etc, nothing worked. I posted it to Nintendo today, so I'll see what they say.
