Unhappy My screen randomly broke!

So I was playing a game and then hit the home screen and noticed this! When I was on the home screen before I started playing it was fine.I don't know what happened. Its the Pikachu XL, so I've had it over a year...does nintendo fix this?

Nintendo fixes it, and you may be able to go to a third party but Nintendo is gaurenteed to do a good job.

Right, I thought so. There is a game store that does repairs by me but I'm nervous they won't do as well. But I want it back before tomodachi

Also I don't want to wait and have it get worse.

Only other question is how much would they charge for it since it's been over a year?

No idea how much, but if it's over $100 i'd suggest just get used to it or buy a new 3ds and transfer over to it.

yea....a couple people say i could probably sell it for $100 even with the damage cause it's the pikachu...but then i wouldn't have the pikachu...but i don't want to get used to it and then have it get worse either..also i'd have to pay an extra like hundredish bucks for a new system.

urrghhh

somewhat an LCD bleeding, same as some LCD TV problems.
you might as well get a brand new one if it will costs you more than a $100
to have it repaired from a gamestore.

yea ik that's what it is i just don't know how it got there...goodbye pikachu special edition i guess :\

Added after 1 11 minutes:

Well I called and he said basically $135 so i said forget that, then he was like 'what if i lowered it by $20 to $115?' and i laughed and then he goes 'okay i can do $45.' So I said yes...which looking back I should have tried for more, but that's like 1/3 of the original price he said so.

Only thing that sucks is that after having a few months of a drought tomodachi is coming out in less than two weeks he upgraded it to 2 day shipping though...

we'll see....blargh

I don't think its LCD bleeding. It looks a lot like some scribble with a pen.

To be honest, Its best you get it fixed from Nintendo. It really doesn't matter how much it costs because once Nintendo fixes it, its solid new and that it won't get busted for a long time. I don't get why people complain about the repair cost though. I get that its expensive and all but if you can get it fixed, why not fix it instead?

Because I don't have the spare money to spend $145 on fixing it. Also if they can obviously do it for $45, then why do they charge $100 more usually? I get some people have the money and don't care but it's still cheating people.

But once it does get fixed it'll have another year on the warranty so that's good.

Ι don't know, could be because he payed around 200$ for it and they're asking for 3/4 of the price for repair... It's not expensive, it's borderline insane. The whole thing fixed is worth about as much as the repair costs, maybe not this particular one as it's a special edition, but in general.

I'd inform at Nintendo what the (estimated) repair costs will be.
If acceptable I'd have them fix it. It too high I'd buy a new one (or second hand one).

If you are really fond of the Pikachu edition (understandable) you can also buy a new top screen and replace it. Or, buy a new/secondhand unit and replace the housing. These are fairly easy to do.

So they sent me an email like 4 days ago saying my stuff is being sent back via USPS...so I thought okay good they fixed it I guess. Then yesterday it still wasnt here so I checked the status on nintendo.com and it said I had to take an action, either tell them to fix it and pay or have them send it back to me unfixed. Um what?

So I called them this morning frustrated because Nobody told me I was supposed to take an action as far as I knew it was fixed. So long story short they are doing it for free now.

Worst part-She said give it up to two weeks to get back to me...and tomodachi life (the first game this year that I'm actually really excited for) comes out in 2 days :'(
