Lightbulb Create your own console! Ideas?

-Intro-

I apologize if such a thread already exists (I sure couldn't find one). This is my first time opening this type of thread and I figured I'd do it now that there are large quantities of MK8 related threads coming for us, so for some variety, time for a forum game!

-Game Rules-
  1. You need to come up with an original idea for a new console and describe how it works. You may write a name for your console but if you really can't come up with anything the name is optional. (Hint: try naming it after yourself, for example "tomysshadow's console" if you want a name but don't know what to use)
  2. Then, you need to review the console in the thread above you and give it 1-5 stars. Be nice! And give a reason for your rating

-Some other things you can try-
  • Choose a company to propose your console to - it doesn't have to be Nintendo. In my example, I would suggest my idea to either Nintendo or Microsoft, even though I feel Microsoft has sort of lost the privilege to new console ideas with the Xbox One.
  • Incorporate futuristic, sci-fi or unrealistic ideas into your console. It doesn't have to be realistic. For example "if we could teleport, one cool idea for a console might be..." "if telepathy was real, maybe a cool idea would be..."
  • Incorporate ideas too expensive to recreate in real life, but that would still be cool.
  • Incorporate accessories from other consoles (such as Kinect, the Wii Wheel, etc.)
  • whatever you like! Make it creative!
  • it doesn't have to be as in-depth as mine. Your description can be only a few lines long, like "I think it'd be really cool to have a console with a fan in it. That way I can be nice and cold while I'm playing my games. The end." But be aware that too short a description might tempt the next person to leave a poor review of your console!

-My Console Example-

Name: Shapeshifter
Distributer: Nintendo or Microsoft
Description: This console is very small - in fact, it doesn't have any screen, controller, keyboard, or anything like that. No, this console is merely the size of a USB Stick, and is only a small rectangle that can plug into things. So how do you use it? Well, it may not have a screen - but you can plug it into something that does! The Shapeshifter is simply a tiny storage device that stores your save data and can be plugged into other devices. This allows it to take on many forms.

For example, you could plug the Shapeshifter into an arcade machine, put in your game and play it there. Then say you would prefer not to use a joystick for one part. You can unplug the Shapeshifter from the arcade machine, take it home, and plug it into your computer, where you can continue playing the same game, but with a mouse and keyboard. And then, when you want to take your game with you, you plug the Shapeshifter into a supported smartphone device and continue play using the touchscreen.

Games for the Shapeshifter could be designed with a specific console in mind, similar to the way some Wii games require a Nunchuk. The best games would work across consoles, however. Using the Shapeshifter, one console can take on the form of a Wii Balance Board, Kinect, Computer, Mobile Device, or classic game machine, making it the ultimate in customizability. The console would be open source in nature with easy to understand documentation, making it easy for third party developers to make an abundance of games and new console designs. You could plug it into your shoe for a Play-Coin type idea. All the console remembers is your save data and takes it with you.

Depending on the console you may also get Wi-Fi access, cameras, microphones or other features. Each design would only require two things: a directional pad of some sort (joystick, mouse, d-pad) and buttons (A, B, X, Y, or colours).

-My Review Example-

This is where you would review the person before you. It doesn't have to be deep in in detail, it can just be "5/5, I think your idea is cool and original", but it has to be fair! Since I'm the thread opener, of course, I can't review the person before me.

-Conclusion-

So that's my console idea. What's yours? Don't forget after writing your idea to leave a review of the person before you!

5/5 Sounds like a cool idea. Your games on every device.

------

Let me introduce you to my own next-gen console, the Game Console.

It will have games. Unlike the PS4, Xbox One, Wii U and Ouya.

4/5 Well, I can be generous - sometimes consoles are better off without any gimmicks. Just a classic game console.

--------

Name: The Treadmill Console
Distributor: Sony
Description: you put on an Oculus Rift style device (no idea if I'm spelling this right) over your eyes and go on a treadmill. It has a circle pad, but only so you can choose which direction to go. In order to actually make your in game character move you must run. Good exercise, but fun when combined with games, The Treadmill Console is like the new Wii Fit that the c̶o̶p̶y̶c̶a̶t̶s̶ geniuses at Sony have recreated in a new way. You can optionally also replace the Oculus Rift with an external screen if that isn't your thing.

2/5 - great concept, too much work

Name: Super Virtual Boy
Developer: Nintendo
System comprises of a sufficiently powerful processing unit, an oculus rift-like headset, extremely accurate power gloves with force-feedback, and foot pedals for movement. It would allow to be immersed in a virtual reality with minimal difficulty interacting in it.

3/5 it does sound like it'd be good for virtual reality, but if it is even remotely anything like a Virtual Boy, a complete failed console, I ain't buying it! So docked marks for the name, otherwise it might be a good idea.

--------

Name: 3D-U
Developer: Nintendo
Description: Using holograms and use of a 3D camera, you can literally shape materials as if they were Playdoh. The console is similar to that of a Wii U tablet, but when turned on the 3D holograms pop out of the screen and can be shaped or modified by you. Games could be physics based where you try to shape the terrain under an object. Other game ideas might involve trying to mimic a certain famous landmark with the virtual clay, or trying to play a game of hot potato by moving the clay away from where a ball is landing.
