A while ago, Iwata revealed that DS games would eventually come to the Wii U Virtual Console service but we didn't get any details as to when that would happen. But today, in a move so stealthy it would make Solid Snake cry tears of joy, Nintendo added Brain Age for the DS to the Wii U eShop in Japan. And not only that, but it seems that Japanese users can download it free of charge. Here are some pictures so you can see what it looks like:





This information comes from one Daan Koopman of NintenDaan fame, so it's pretty damn legit. We've got no information so far on when the games will also reach other regions, but I have a feeling we might be hearing something about it pretty soon. In the meantime, tell me what you think. Are you excited for DS Virtual Console games? Would you have preferred they come to 3DS? What games are you hoping will pop up on the eShop first?

Probably a fair assumption to think there will be more info about DS VC games at E3, and that Brain Age might be released for free overseas.

Yea, will def announce some stuff at E3. I always thought the TV would be the top screen and the pad would be the touch screen, so this is a bit weird. I guess it makes sense though cause then you could just use the pad by itself for them.
Idk if I'll get any though. I get some of them, but im not all OMG VC GAMES WOO! cause like, what's the point? We've already played them.

I'm not against Nintendo putting Virtual Console titles on the Wii U that isn't offered to the 3DS E-shop, but this is just odd to me since no emulator or anything would to be developed for the 3DS considering that the original hardware needed to play them is still inside the 3ds. Although, personally, I think Nintendo would fare better if they could manage to offer Gamecube VC on the Wii U considering those games are only playable on [now] outdated hardware where you can easily still play your favorite DS games on your 3DS.
