I've recently bought the 3DS, and now gone and bought me a game off the eshop, but trying the regular download just shows some kind of coloured blocks getting dropped into a box for a few minutes, then gives me an error (code 007-2916) and no progress is made.

Sleep mode download is better in that it actually downloads stuff, but it doesn't seem to be doing that properly. As in, it is taking FOREVER. And the download rate makes no sense - in ~3 hours, I downloaded 9%. When I left it to download overnight, it downloaded 2% more.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there something wrong with the 3DS itself?

Best bet is to call Nintendo customer service. The internet doesnt seem to have the answer, I checked.

I guess your wireless bandwidth is capped or so. I never have DL problems with my 3DS and I always download in stand by mode because it makes no sense to download it right away when all ya get is a screen and ya can't do anything else.

Bad internet and large downloads don't mix. If you do have a fully-sized game downloading, prepare to wait with under the nation average internet (like I do).
