I'm pumped. I'm a sucker for arena shooters and am a bit tired of over-complicated class based team shooters that seem to be particularly prominent at the moment. Really nice to see the positive reception it's getting, too.

This game looks great. I look forward to future gameplay footage as the game nears release, if not simply to win over people who can't get past the game's present low-budget feel (at least in terms of the levels).

I know at least two friends who say this game looks suspiciously similar to a mini-game in Portal or Portal 2. Honestly, though, I think the game looks creative enough on it's own merits, particular when it comes to the squids! I have to admit, though, I was a little confused about it when it was announced during the Digital Event last Tuesday, but it's really grown on me since!
 Also, new IP is always good!

BTW, for those of you that are wondering, this game will, indeed, have a single-player campaign... or at the very least, Reggie Fils-Amie feels that not including a single-player mode would "be a mistake".

Some direct-feed audio gameplay
Really digging the music, from what I'm hearing. I recall that in one of the Treehouse demos they said that the direction of the music is meant to be like what the Inklings would hypothetically listen to in their world, and it's super different, which I really like. I'm a sucker for sample-heavy tunes going along with colorful games in which rebellious youths vandalize urban environments. I recall them stating that Mii's were supposed to appear in Smash Bros Brawl but at the time it didn't feel right to have a Mii, these new "cute lovable" avatars, trying to kill each other. I would guess it applies a bit here as well, Nintendo doesn't like the idea of grandma shooting your baby sister in the face when they're duking it out on this "shooter" game while they enjoy their afternoon.

I really like this game. It's so Nintendo-ish while being an online multiplayer game. This is great, we need more of these titles please.
The game looks great in terms of graphics as well. All this paint being fired around and coloring the encironments, it looks so nice!

It looks surprisingly good.
It's currently my 2nd most anticipated WiiU game after Zelda. It just seems so polished for a brand new IP, Nintendo is really trying to make it successful and I hope it gets the attention it deserves.

The amiibo content is just rehashed versions of the same levels from the game except with different weapons. I could care less about it. I just want the figures and would buy them even if they didn't have any in-game effects.

I am totally hyped for this game. More so than Arkham Knight, AND Battlefront. I love the two modes, and I really hope they add TDM, and perhaps another mode. The ability to customize your character completely is also fantastic, along with the amiibo integration.
BTW, did everyone hear that normal amiibo will be having a possibility to add effects to Splatoon in game? For example, scanning a Mario amiibo will give you a Mario hat for your Splatoon character. At least, this is what I have heard.

I found the game surprisingly fun too, especially since I normally dislike playing console FPS games. i think the game successfully manages to cater to both FPS fans as well as those (like me) who are not that into the genre.

uh... why would it be terrible?
i want to be able to play and practice without going online. i want to be able to have games with only friends without needing 8 people. i want to be able to choose the difficulty, strategies, and weapons of the people i'm teammates with or playing against. i want to be able to play the main modes of the game years later when the servers are dead. the octolings have the same skillset as the players and obviously must have some sort of AI, even if it's more focused on combat than covering surfaces. they're pretty much halfway there already. |

Well I finally got to play this after being unable to connect during the other testfires a couple of weeks ago. It was a lot of fun, but I kinda wish we could also play just a regular offline demo against bots to mess around with. I guess it doesn't matter now, the game is releasing in less than a week.

yeah the servers broke for majority of the hour it was originally supposed to be up for, 1st hour was basically loading screens, error messages, and squid jump

and i just found out that GAME's stock of limited edition green inkling/splatoon game bundles were stolen on the way to GAME HQ ;n; i dont know if this is for online orders only or if its all LE splatoon stock ive tweeted my local game store asking and im still waiting for a reply *sigh* ._. apparently all those affected have been emailed regarding this, and i have no emails like the one posted on that site so im still hoping i can get the LE and not downgraded to the regular version

I can't believe they were stolen. This amiibo craze has gone too far now.
I almost peordered the special edition squid amiibo bundle from GAME because Australia wasn't getting it. I'm glad I decided to get the amiibo 3-pack with the Inkling girl, boy and squid from EB Games instead.

so game called and basically told me everything i read on that site last night, no limited editions but i can still get the girl amiibo i have on preorder bc those butts didnt steal those *phew*, and ill get ?10 off the regular version as an apology, i might use that ?10 to get the boy squid if i can
i freaking hate scalpers, i bet scalpers stole the truck and are gonna sell each one on ebay for double the price because it has a “rare squid amiibo” with it >.>

miiverse posts are the bread of this game. I'll also post my dude when i get some choice clothing. rollers were OP in the demo, but i guess things are different now. i may be mistaken, but the running speed of rollers seem slower than in the demo?
my favorite weapon is the sniper so far (even tho i can't land a shot to save me life)

I use the roller because I'm terrible at shooting (I need to get better). I really wanna try out that paint brush. I was under the impression it was gonna be available to unlock, so they better release that one next/soon.
So do we love or hate the Port Mackerel stage? I think it's alright. I like all the stages except for the Warehouse and the Mall.

I tried it and I'm not sure if I like the ranked battles.
Is there red ink in the game? I thought there wasn't (I assume because it would resemble blood), but I watched a ranked battle vid to get a better understanding on how it works and it looked like the ink was red.

Before I had played Splatoon, I always thought the Inkbrush would be my favorite weapon, but after trying it out, I didn't end up liking how it works much. I'm not gonna say it's bad, but maybe it's only good if you know how to use it well.
I think I'll stick with using the Krak-On Splat Roller and Splattershot Jr.

Why do I always get stuck on the ******ed team? Most of the time I finish in 1st place on my team with around 800-1k+ points and my team mates have around 300-500 points. We just get completely destroyed and I never have any idea what they're doing in the matches.
I wish we could view playtime statistics, I'm sure I've lost more matches than won because of awful team mates. xD

Does anyone use the Inkbrush/Octobrush? I underrated it when it first released, I thought it was a bad weapon, but I tried using it again recently and it's actually really good if you learn to use it properly. I got over 1000pts and 14 kills with it on Urchin Underpass when I was playing a few hours ago. I seem to do better with the brushes than the rollers now.
Speaking of rollers, does anyone use the Dynamo Roller? I once faced someone who completely destroyed my whole team with it on Walleye Warehouse. I tried using it myself, but it's just so damn slow and everyone kills me easily.

My Wii U has a wired connection too. I think it's my internet is part of the problem- it has always been terrible even after I got my wii u hooked up with a wired internet connection. I had a lot of issues with it last week. They supposedly fixed it but it's still pretty bad. |

Tower Control gets really so intense a lot of the time. Yuoke and I have been playing Twin Squad (mostly on Tower Control) since the update and a lot of the time we unluckily keep getting paired with two people who don't seem to know what they're doing. I forget their names, but we got paired with these two idiots earlier. One of them kept blindly running into the firefight dying all the time and the other one did nothing except ink all the ground like it was Turf War. I guess Quad Squad is the best way to play Ranked to avoid situations like this.

I just recently started playing splatoon again, and I really like tower control gamemode. It feels a lot more balanced than zone control and it actually makes the charger viable, which is awesome. Ill never play this game as much as smash, but I think its really fun and easy to pick up and play, so ill be trying to play it more regularly.

Why must Ranked be so hard? I lost 10 matches in a row and went from a B- to a C, so I guess I just seem to suck at Splat Zones because I can win at Tower Control.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't really make a big deal over the clothing skills. I just wear stuff I like the look of, so it doesn't bother me if something I like has a bad main skill.
I don't even know how much of a difference some of them make. I once had 4 defense up skills and I still seemed to be just as easily killed as I did without any. Finally Rainmaker will be here. I was under the impression it was included with the August update. Also, why can't Ranked have a Turf War mode? Or at least let us have the option to be on friend's teams for it.

I would have played, Bar, but I didn't see anyone with a Squad open to join (I assume that's because the Squad rooms were full). I guess someone will have to make a private room so all of us can play together sometime. Only downside is we wont gain leveling up experience.
Had a lot of fun with Rainmaker, but unlike Tower Control, Rainmaker seems pretty one-sided a lot of the time since it doesn't automatically go back to the middle. I dunno about anyone else, but I really don't like carrying the Rainmaker. Does anyone use the Splash Walls? I think they're probably the most underrated sub weapon, I rarely see people using them. They're so useful in Ranked games, I wish more main weapons had them. Actually, what would be really good is if you could build your own set up, like pick which sub and special you want. I dunno if that would unbalance the game or not...

I use splash walls a lot. They're pretty useful but I wish a splattershot had them.
I also hate how you can't just place them right in front of you. Instead they bounce off and set up like five feet away. Would make them really good for tower control. |

i still dont get tower control but i do know how to play splat zones, and havent tried rainmaker yet edit: i tried rain maker, its crazy, and fun, and i seem to be pretty good at it so far im still in A- rank after a few matches

A little earlier we had the most ******ed match ever on Rainmaker. This random guy called Travis had the Rainmaker and I killed all four members of the other team, Yuoke cleared a path to the podium thing and Travis ran right past it and was trying to take the Rainmaker to the other team's spawn point... At least I think that's what he thought he had to do with it, lol.
We won, but still, I can't believe how bad that was and I'm sure the other team must have been laughing at us.

on the 1st match i had no idea what to do with rainmaker, like i thought we had to take it to the podium that matched our ink and i was like, ok? so i helped the opposite team get halfway there >.>
but then a few matches later i think i singlehandedly got the rainmaker up to 12 and then i was splatted, someone behind me picked it up and then we won

idk, i have had it where ive lost a match and i lost 14 points, and i won one and i got 4
i dont really get the ranked point system... Added after 30 minutes:  rank A get whenever i go into ranked and this happens i laugh :3

Yeah...
 I had someone specifically target me in Splat Zones on Arowana Mall once. This girl Inkling (it was probably a guy because everyone plays as girls) with a kraken roller wouldn't leave me alone. I went to the right side and she was there waiting to splat me 3 times in a row, so I went to the middle thinking she just wanted the right side to herself, but she was there also waiting to splat me again. Then I went to the left side by Yuoke and she went nuts and chased me with a kraken, but she fell through grate flooring and died. I got splatted again and when I respawned she was by the spawn point hiding in the ink waiting. It looked like she didn't care about trying to win the match, she was just too determined to keep splatting me for some reason. I have no idea what I did to annoy her so much lol.

I'm only a measly B+ rank. Is it just me or is it once you get past C+, it starts getting difficult to keep up a winning streak? You guys seem to know what you're doing. I need to squad with people who are actually coordinated and capable of winning because the randoms are always letting me down.

I haven't put a lot of time into ranked. I'm still only B-. I haven't played with a squad at all. I usually get some **** teams. But I'm going to have no internet for the next week.

 These abilities seem pretty good so far. Just wish I could trade a quick super jump and one of the run speeds for two ink saver (subs)

As far as I know, this is the only unreleased map left... but there could easily be a few more announced later on.
 There's also this, but since it resembles Saltspray Rig a lot, I think it's actually an early version of it.

I once did one of those jumping things with another player online. Forna second there was no turf or good guys and bad guys. It was just two fellow squid kids enjoying a jump. Then a sniper on my team took them out.
