I hear that you need to beat the true arena if you want to complete the game 100%. Is completing this game 100% impossible or is it fairly done so and it come nowhere as frustrating as Mass Attack?

It's not impossible. Archer Kirby has a shield (down) that will protect him from literally every attack as long as he doesn't move. Abuse the shield, and you can beat the True Arena, pretty much.

How long does this game take to 100%? Thinking of buying it.

Er...the game isn't that long. But like most Kirby games, it has a lot of different modes that will keep you busy. You have to run through the story the first time, then again with EX Mode, which is actually a continuous speed-run played as an unlocked character. Afterwards there's the Smash-Like Kirby battle mode which you have to complete with all of the given copy abilities. Then Dedede's drum, and then both boss arenas.

You also have to collect a number of objects, like the Star Coins in the Mario games for each level, but that can easily be done on a blind play-through.

There's also a keychain collection thing which you randomly find in levels, and can buy for one play coin 5 times per completed level.

Dedede's drum and the battle mode can be finished on a new game, but you'll have to unlock both arenas from the main game.
